I would appreciate some advice to help me pick my Christmas and birthday present. I have David Jones gift vouchers at department store in Sydney Australia. I will have about $4000 to spend. Looking for an every day hobo/tote bag. It needs to be able to fit a pile of things in, plus be tough enough to survive running around town, putting under plane seats, and general rough & tumble. I am a FF/PM in Illinois. I love the job and always thought the pay was pretty good. That was until I broke it down hourly. Most departments in my area are salaried, starting between 60k-80k with top outs anywhere from 90k-120k yearly. 24/48hr shifts are the norm so 56 hours a week. When I broke it down to a conventional hourly pay including overtime, 80k yearly is about 24/hr and 120k yearly is about 36/hr. Im 27 and pursuing a career in law enforcement and I know that departments when reviewing an applicants job history often view jumping between jobs often as a big red flag. Ive held 5 jobs in the last decade.
