I'm not sure how to start describing myself, I'm not great with words but I'll try my best. (I'm so sorry for the extremely long post ahead!) To begin with I'd like to clarify what I'm looking for exactly and to be as clear as possible. I'm looking for a bit more than a friendship, I'm searching for a relationship, yet not a romantic relationship. I want to meet someone to connect with, to be very close to, to be able to always speak and help each other grow and help each other in times of need. a true and strong connection between us where we could hopefully become very close. I think it's important to clarify this since ... AIO about my friends were secretly dating for 7 years, living together for 5 years, and being married for 2 years?3h agoI just found out a close friend of mine has secretly been dating another mutual friend since 2018. My close friend (who I’ll refer to as X) and I are both women in our 30s, and the mutual friend (I’ll refer to him as Y) is a guy in his 30s. We’ve known each other since our late 20s. We all met at work, but I always considered them to be more friends than co-workers. We were all part of a tight-knit team and are good friends with several other co-workers, who we would have lunch with together everyday, regularly go out for drinks, go to parties, and even travelled together many times. When X joined the team, her and I were in the same role and bonded quickly over our shared frustratio... I am asking this sincerely: Is Choosing to be a therapist a form of self harm?3h agoI ask this sincerely. To myself mostly. I'm 20 years in, took, take incredible pride in my work. Have gained a reputation. All the stuff that goes along with continueing education and a fascination of the human psyche. This question isn't new for me. It occured to me a few years ago when I had heard a client say the most horrendous, I couldn't possibly make that **** up in my mind event they went through that they hold, that they needed me to hold. So many stories to hold, stories clients needed me to hold with them, so many visuals. So much trauma. So much rape. So much violation. So much neglect. So much abuse. On and on. 20 years strong. 20 years along... wond... How to function having job3h agoHello! This is my first post in this community, although I am somewhat active in the r/emetophobia reddit. I've struggled with OCD for years and have only recently gotten an actual diagnosis from my psychiatrist. Everything makes so much more sense now, especially given my trouble with working a job. I was working at a pharmacy for about a year and a half and in the first few months, I felt great about the work I was doing as a technician. I felt like I was learning a lot and enjoyed most of my coworkers. I've struggled mostly with harm OCD and OCD surrounding food and sickness (I have severe emetophobia) but had never before struggled with it too much while working. After a... What should I make with these wild apples?3h agoI’m a big fan of foraging food for free instead of paying for it. Wild ingredients tend to have more nutrition and flavor so when I biked past an apple tree loaded with apples I saved it in my maps to come back to later. I ended up picking close to 20 lbs of apples and the flavor seems perfect for baking. They literally taste like a sour apple candy, a nice Granny Smith tartness but with a much sweeter finish. They’re much smaller than store bought apples and they seem to oxidize quicker too. They’re very firm with a nice crunch. I ended up freezing them all after peeling and slicing because my roommate found a worm on kitchen floor and told me she was going to toss them if I didn’t ... Trip with “friends” overseas3h agoFor context, I 27F planned a trip with 2 friends 25f and 24f. I’m neighbors with the 25 yo friend. Let’s call her M, and the other friend is her mutual who I’ve met before a couple of times, yet never truly got close to. I’m a type A personality, like all my ducks in a row, especially when traveling overseas, and having to spend money as a student. I try to budget and plan for the trip through this wanderlog app. Long story short, this trip turns into a nightmare that breaks our friendship. Friend M and her friend, get into a fight on day 3 of the trip, and make it very awkward for me as I now have to play the communicator between them two. There’s a silent war in our hotel room, a... Donald Trump is the first president in US history to deny food to citizens.3h agoGrocery Layoffs3h agoanyone from grocery impacted at Amazon Core & Amazon Fresh? No one on my team has heard much, and our managers barley know anything either (they’re asking us to let them know who we’ve heard of that’s been laid off).. no one knows what’s going on and what orgs have been impacting. It’s giving me sm anxiety. All interior agencies are incompetent and a bunch of crooks3h agoWe had heard horror stories about livspace and the other big one that I cant remember the name of, so in our search went with a local Bangalore based one. There are so many problems that we have encountered in the journey \- Dishonesty - they take measurement in mm and drawings are to the mm. Yet while calculating area, they convert each dimension to ft, rounding it up and this increases the amount by 1-2% \- Lack of basic math skill - 8"6' becomes 8.6 in their calculation. Are they really that low IQ or is it just a ploy to cheat? When we pressed, they said that this is the industry norm. \- Turnover of staff - we have had 3 people working with us and the handover is never d... Agility overhaul + 120 Idea3h agoSo it's rather obvious with the MTX blog release we have a massive problem with Agility. A solution within the game is needed, and we already have a decent place to start. So here's my run of an idea for it. 1. Nimble + Silverhawk combo. Simple as adding a head piece add-on to turn the Modified Nimble Headwear. Bonus effect would be the ability to store Silverhawk down/feathers in the headpiece itself. A daily collection of a few untradeable feathers allowing anyone to stockpile for later training. Getting it would be the same as the rest of the set, a few runs through The Pit and praying. For ironmen the feathers are a slight bonus, they are able to get them from the Traveling ... FPIES Advice Thread for Parents3h agoHi All - Our son was diagnosed with IgE allergies + FPIES at 9 months old. It was a difficult world to navigate between introducing new foods and managing reactions. He is our 3rd kiddo and our other 2 kids have 0 allergies, so the allergy world was a little bit jolting. Our son is now 2.5 and lately I've noticed how much easier things have gotten for us. I wanted to take a moment and give parents who are just starting their FPIES adventure some advice, and let others post their best advice here as well. Quick Backstory: Our son was IgE to milk, egg, tree nut and FPIES to coconut. Have had to use EPI. Have had to be hospitalized for severe FPIES reactions. Has outgrown IgE to milk ... Where do you get your imported kumas? (US)3h agoAs someone from the US I am currently dealing with tariffs absolutely blocking most my usual importing places. As shipping and Taxes have become insane. I used to MSClaw, Buyee and Mercari for my more hard to find collectables or new releases, But with Tariffs a two items costing up to 30 USD is now with shipping and tariff taxes is now almost 90$+ USD on those sites. I was wondering if any US collectors had any online stores that have already either have Japanese Kumas imported and are based in the US for shipping or have y'all find other routes to even slight ease the tariff taxes? Grocery stores downtown?3h agoDoes anyone know if there are any markets/stores that sell actual produce downtown? I’m so tired of everything being a driving distance away when I live right downtown and would rather just walk, but maybe thats not possible… Food Pantry Donation Reminder3h agoWith the anticipation of SNAP benefits no longer being funded starting November 1st, this is a reminder of how important it is for us to support those in need in our community. Please donate money or food to the Mendon Food Pantry. I'm sure many of us have received or known someone who has received assistance in their life and we should pass that assistance on to others. https://www.mendonma.gov/253/Food-Pantry-Thank-You-for-Your-Support-- The Woman in Black: A Dream I’ll Never Forget3h agoAte Bebs, I’ve been watching your videos since 2023, and I just want to share this dream I had way back in 2022 when I was only 14 years old. So, in my dream, my aunt, my cousins, and I were at the mall. We were buying something, and when it was time to pay, my aunt told me and one of my cousins to go to another counter that was a bit far from them. The place looked strange kind of abandoned and quiet, with no people around. When we got there, we saw a woman dressed in all black, wearing a black veil that covered most of her face. She approached us and offered us some food ,And next thing I know it we where in a round table with the foods being steak and sausage My cousi... What is the best way to store rich articles in my database for my webapp?3h agoHi all -- For context, I’m working on a web app that displays information about foods, encyclopedia-style. Each page (e.g., /food/apple, /food/pear) might include general information about the food, plus a full article that could contain text, images, videos, etc. I’m planning to use MongoDB to store this information, and I’m trying to decide on the most suitable format for storing the articles themselves. Alongside the other information on each food, my research says I can look at storing the article with: - storing the raw HTML - storing in Markdown (or something simmilar) - breaking the article into "blocks" of JSON and rendering them on the frontend I’m not sure if ... AITA for sending my husband a chart showing how our household and mental load is divided?3h agoMy husband and I both work full-time and have two young kids. Lately, I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed by how much of the mental and physical load I carry at home. I am 100% the default parent. I manage the kids' schedules, including things like appointments, playdates, school events/homework, birthday parties, extracurriculars/sports practices and games. I get up in the middle of the night (sometimes multiple times) with the kids when they can't sleep. I communicate with the teachers/daycare workers as needed. I manage the kids' wardrobes, including ensuring that they have clothes that fit them and are appropriate for the weather (I pack up all of the clothes that no long... We asked the wrong question3h agoI have to write this down before it’s too late. Last night… something happened. Something I can’t explain. It started as a ****** Halloween dare. My roommate Kara and I found an old Ouija board at a thrift store we often visit, real wood, yellowed planchette, the real deal. The cashier was new or at least I’d never seen her before, and had this strange intensity, like she’d been waiting for someone to take it. Leaning in, she whispered, “Don’t ask about time,” whatever that meant. Kara and I laughed it off. There were four of us,me, Kara, her boyfriend Tyler, and our friend Jess. We turned off the lights, lit candles, and asked the usual questions. “Is anyone here?” YE... Do you send text reminders to clients before appointments?3h agoI'm a case manager at a community agency working with mental health and substance disorders, unhoused people, etc We have voluntary clients only, no court mandated clients and only with adults over 26 years of age. We're a small agency and we don't have the IT to automatically send text reminders for upcoming appointments. Any reminders we send are typed on our phones and sent manually. This can get tricky and time consuming when juggling 5-6 appointments per day, five days per week. We have a disagreement in our team about whether to send text reminders to clients. We don't have a policy and our supervisor hasn't got an opinion on this. Some workers are adamant t... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
