Walked into a goodwill in Texas this afternoon. My dad is elderly, loves to discover. There’s a goodwill nearby to a lot of elderly retirees. Not a well off area and a lot of hospitals/nurseries/fast food around. (This is important). I’ve been to this GW. You never find big brands or mid tier here. Stuff sits forever and pretty worn down. It’s got lots of new made-in-china stuff. Might find a random vintage item. A bit later a guy upfront was yelling at a woman - livid. Could hear her voice too - just adamant and rude back. This will turn out to be the lady manager. As I walked around everything was literally insane prices. It was like the whole store was “boutique” pricing. To...

Good spots for an untraditional Thanksgiving dinner?

1h ago

Just moved to SF a few months ago and my family will be visiting for Thanksgiving. Looking for a place to eat any non thanksgiving food on Thanksgiving day. There will be 4 of us, and open to any cuisine, but I think Italian or Chinese would probably be at the top of the list. Not really picky though, however, 1 person will need gluten free options. Also hoping to find a restaurant that is west of Van Ness and North of Market Street. Based on my parameters, are they any good options? Thanks in advance.

2+ months in, no major negative side effects (I’m never hungry nor sleepy. It’s weird but great).

1h ago

After 3 weeks on 150XL + 5 weeks on 300XL, I’m now pretty stable and I think it’s working great. Frankly, I have almost no side effects (and they are not negatives for the most part). - I can’t feel hunger anymore. But I can eat normally, I just have to remember/schedule it. - Losing weight (which I really needed…). - I never feel sleepy anymore. I can fall asleep normally when I’m ready (but I think I could function on 2 hours of sleep). - Higher libido (but it’s manageable - I work from home 🙄). - Mild constipation (might be caused by alimentation changes, but it’s easily manageable). - Better motivation/concentration for everything. Somehow, I’m even motivated to do re...

I realized that hunger was about various deficiencies, not lack of energy, and the result is incredible...

I don't know what sub would be best to put this in, but maybe it can help someone. I accidentally discovered salt hunger recently. I started having a double miso soup in the morning, just because I love miso soup. It has about 2 grams of sodium, but I realized I had accidentally fasted the entire day through after having that miso soup. I hadn't meant to not eat I just didn't have the typical urge to. Something was different. I didn't get any kind of hunger or food signal like I normally would. Some quick research found articles that back this up. The body will make you hungry to get salt, that's the only lever it has to address nutritional deficiencies. I s...

The Winter Line — a story of hunger, endurance, and the ghosts that live inside us

1h ago

*Brought forward for All Hallows’ Eve — a story of hunger, endurance, and the ghosts that live inside us.* Content note: reflective psychological horror; themes of isolation and starvation, but nothing graphic. I wrote it for the quiet hour when warmth feels most fragile — when we mistake observation for mercy, and the snow begins to listen back. Light pools through the café window, soft and golden. Steam rises from two mugs, frosting the glass in brief, vanishing shapes. He’s laughing — a quiet, deliberate laugh, the kind you practice without meaning to. His date teases him for always carrying that little notebook. > He smiles, almost shy. *That’s how I keep it,* ...

Places you find it hard to go because of sensory overload

1h ago

I love lists and have been wondering if anyone else here has specific places they want to avoid or have to especially armor up to visit? At the top of my list is Sephora - it ticks all the sensory boxes in the worst ways possible. Harsh, bright white lighting, loud (both customer voices and music and other sounds because it's all hard surfaces), scents everywhere, and so much visual clutter and movement. Plus, it is packed to the gills, and my keyptonite is too many people in close proximity. Sephora is a personal care, cosmetics, and perfume store. For the others(all ND) in my family, it's Costco for all of the Sephora reasons, nix the perfume and add food smells, huge expanse...

1h ago

Six months ago, we set out to build an AI customer service platform that could actually handle real customer conversations autonomously - not just "AI-assisted" support where humans do the heavy lifting. Today, we're running 12 specialized AI agents in production, handling concurrent conversations with <60 second response times and 90%+ resolution confidence. We're building in public and hunting for our first customers. \*\*This isn't a sales pitch - it's a technical breakdown of what worked, what failed spectacularly, and what we'd do differently.\*\* \--- \## The Core Problem We Faced Most "AI customer service" solutions are glorifie...

19m looking for people to chat/ maybe play games with

1h ago

Hey y’all! Idk what exactly I’m looking for so it’ll probably just be based on vibes. A little about me is that I’m based in the us in mst time zone but I have no issue with friends from other countries as I have a couple already. I love cars, shoes, sports, music, and video games! I’m always down to talk about whatever and would love to learn about new stuff! I love to cook in my free time and love to talk about food as well. I also have a dog so feel free to ask about him! I’m just looking for people who like to have a good time and are light hearted for the most part because a good deep conversation feels good every once in a while. I currently just work and am not in scho...

USPS compared to UPS

1h ago

I recently saw somebody complementing South Korea’s postal system, the another commented tried to compare it to the US system, but used UPS instead of our actual Postal Service in there example. The UPS store and the post office are polar opposites in every way, other than providing the exact same services. UPS store is run by a bunch of teenagers who are always happy, work super hard and efficiently, and will always go the extra mile. They have twice the staff on duty, doing less work than the post offices. The US post office is run by 2-3 career boomer aged individuals who **** you and their job. They are slow, grouchy, demanding and incompetent.

AWS outage last week delayed paycheck, I have questions.

1h ago

I work as a sorter and packager at an outlet and the contrator I work for is unprofessional. It's a 1099 job, might I add. Last week, a week before pay day, the manager sent out emails about the AWS outage and how the system they use for payroll was heavily affected and delayed our pay day and that there was nol way around it. They told us we would receive our checks on the 10/30. At the end of my shift yesterday the manager told us that they will have to mail checks out instead of deposits and that they will send them out on 10/30 and we should receive the beginning of the following week. She claim she expressed that in the emai that we would be getting paper checks. I now feel lik...

Please help! My beloved (outdoor) pigeon got kicked out by a different one.

1h ago

So there's this pigeon, let's call him Pidgy, I've been feeding seeds on my windowsills (both inside and outside of the window) for like two or three years now so both him and his mate are very very dear to me. There are other pigeons that come to get some food occasionally as well but since this is Pidgy's territory, he always fights them off if they go and intrude too much. ➡️ The problem is that there's this one pigeon, let's call him B, that has been fighting with Pidgy, trying to conquer the territory for himself and force Pidgy out of this place (as well as Pidgy's mate). Pidgy is a very agile fighter (he's a chonky borb), but B has won th...

Seeking advice on a homelab build for streaming on Twitch/YouTube

1h ago

I'm currently running a Unifi homelab setup and a dualstream configuration. I've been streaming off an older gaming laptop that has mostly been able to handle streaming to YouTube and Twitch. # Configuration From my primary computer I plugged capture cards to my GPU as external monitors, this allows me to access low-latency video streams from my primary computer on my laptop. I've found this to be the best performing lowest latency solution. This has been working great, however since I setup a SRT server on my laptop to access IRL streams from my laptop, it's caused an additional performance load my laptop can't handle. # Temporary Solution The obvious solution ...

Is Tattoo Ink Safe? What the FDA and Artists Say

Given its stunning colors and limitless creative potential, one might naturally ask: Is tattoo ink safe? The solution is a little nuanced. It combines the best practices used by professional artists as well as the actions taken (and should take) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Let's break down what you need to feel confident about your next tattoo. # The FDA's Take: No Direct Approval (Yet) In the U...

As a restaurant owner in India, I found a very good photo library built just for F&B, here’s how it’s helpin...

I run a small restaurant in Bangalore, and I wanted to share something beneficial for us lately, plus get your thoughts on whether others are doing something similar. We were struggling to find good-quality, *authentic* food photos for our menu, website, and social media. Hiring a photographer for every dish felt expensive, and the stock image sites we tried either felt too generic or didn’t match our Indian-style menu. A few months ago, I started using [Petpooja Studio](https://studio.petpooja.com/), a photo library focused on F&B (food & beverage), especially Indian food. The images are high-resolution, real (not AI-generated), and suitable for a menu or an order platfo...

AITA for not wanting to see my mum

1h ago

My dads birthday is in a couple of days, so my sister and I (29f) have planned to celebrate it over at his, just the 3 of us. My sister and I dont really speak to our mum (parents are divorced), she not mentally stable and has been pretty awful to us the last couple of decades. She is especially mean, and makes comments about our bodies, or compares herself to us constantly (me especially). She was the cause of my ED from when I was 13 until 23, she would encourage me to throw up after meals to be "skinny like me when I was your age". My dad had no idea about this cos I wasn't living with him after their divorce. It wasn't until I cut my mum out that I started healing and...
