Long time lurker. I’ve spent nearly half of my life weighing over 300lbs, food was (and still is) a comfort and a reward, which is a dangerous combo when you have the same appetite that the high school version of yourself who weighed 180lbs had, only without the metabolism you once benefitted from. I’m also admittedly a homebody and mostly sedentary, there would be frequent days where the only exercise I’d get would be getting out of bed and walking up/down stairs to get meals or let my dogs out. What’s working for me? \[Food/Calories\] Calorie deficit has been paramount. I know you have to take them with a grain of salt, but I did a maintenance/weight loss calculator that tol...

Which fast food joint do you think really has the best fries?

9h ago

I’ve gone over this conversation with so many people over the years and it really all comes down to McDonald’s. Those fries are iconic. I don’t know what it is but every other place there far are just not as good in my opinion Burger King has the second best but I’ve heard a lot of people don’t like them

ISO ROOMMATE :)

14h ago

Hey everyone! My 3 roommates and I are looking to fill 1 bedroom in our cozy 4 bed / 2 bath apartment in Washington Heights 📍 — conveniently located right off the A train @181st ( 1 train about 2 blocks away!). THE LAST THREE PHOTOS ARE OF THE ROOM YOU WILL BE TAKING! Comfortably fits a queens bed, with dresser. Also has deep closet ✨ Looking for: • Preferably a female in her early to mid-20s since we’re all between 22–25 • Someone clean, respectful, social, and looking to build a genuine home vibe 🫶 (not just coexist) Respectful in maintaining cleanliness of shared spaces and healthy communication. Enjoys personal time as well! Rent: $900/month + utilities...

[TOMT] Short-lived TV show that was similar to The Amazing Race

1d ago

My spouse insists what I'm thinking of is from The Amazing Race and I really don't think so. I think it was (roughly between 2008-2018?) during a writers strike when the networks really leaned on reality shows. Like they'd work in an extra season of Big Brother and come up with other reality shows to try out. I'm really confident there was a show that was probably only on for one season that was similar to The Amazing Race in concept, but not as grand. And I don't know if it even left the US. And in it, I remember two specific things happened: 1) A team got hungry and lost a bunch of time because they decided to get food at Burger King or something during the race...

I ran from New York City to Boston!

1d ago

Hi Friends, I live in Williamsburg and I ran (but mostly walked) from New York City to Boston over the past few days. I started in Brooklyn on Thursday morning, went to the finish line for the New York City Marathon, and then went to the finish line for the Boston Marathon for a so-called "Finish Line to Finish Line" run. I arrived in Boston on Sunday morning, and so the total time was 75h55m from Brooklyn and 74h40m from the NYCM finish line. Total distance was a little over 220 miles. Some notes: * I did this run self-supported, meaning that I did not have anyone come support or crew me. I was by myself for the entire run and bought food/water along the way. * The first 18 mil...

Homeless and just got a job. Need help with food until my first paycheck

1d ago

Hi everyone. I’m currently homeless and I recently got a full time warehouse job after struggling for a long time to find stable work. Last Friday was my orientation and first day of training. I work Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day, and I won’t receive my first paycheck for about three weeks. I’m genuinely beyond grateful to finally have a job and a chance to get back on my feet. Before starting this job, I used to get free lunch sacks from a church every morning, but they only hand them out from 8am to 10am and my shift starts at 9am. My warehouse is also about 15 miles away/over an hour by bus, so I can’t make it there anymore before work. Most food pantries and places that he...

After decades of McD’s, I’m back to BK. And I like it.

1d ago

I’m an old, and McDs (Big Mac, Nuggets were a huge deal in the day) was my first fast food love. However, during my teen years, the Original Chicken Sandwich (w/xtra mayo) and Whopper became my late-night, fast food jam. In the decades that followed, when I ate fast food, I leaned hard back into the Arches. Part of that was nostalgia, part convenience, but it definitely involved a noticeable decline in Burger King restaurants generally. Not that McDonald’s was so much better, but BK just seemed to drop off noticeably. However, over the last year or so, I’ve been both disenchanted with McD’s, and really enjoyed going back to BK. In particular, the revamp definitely made a differen...

Past stores in Annapolis Mall (80s and 90s)

1d ago

All these Annapolis Mall posts have me reminiscing. I’ve been going to the Mall since 1984ish and worked there in high school. Just curious if anyone else remembers it from this long (or longer) ago and wants to contribute to this list. Some of my memories may be a little fuzzy. There was a big update in the 90s when they added the Nordstrom wing, so separating these into pre and post wing. Maybe this info already exists somewhere, but it’s fun to try going down memory lane from memory:) Some stores I remember from yore: Pre Nordstrom: An ice cream parlor with white wrought iron decor and tables/chairs A two-story Roy Roger’s fast food restaurant with a woodsy mural (I had previousl...

How do you feel about employment?

1d ago

Im 19 and I want to work, but I also dont. I like the idea of clocking in, doing my thing and leaving and getting a paycheck at the end of the week but the idea of actually going through an interview again, getting judged and being put in a spot of hierarchy makes me dread it. My only job i ever had was a fast food job at a place called Hungry Jacks (australian Burger King) and it was awful and only lasted about 6 months, it being a casual role where shifts were literally just whenever didnt help either. My heart would pound before every shift, I'd get that butterfly feeling in my stomach, it was just so nerve-racking and im not even sure why, school in comparison was easy as ****...

Another one of these but I’m really bored - IK it’s weak but I removed all the stuff I would never answer.

Jobs for English Speakers

Do you know if generally supermarkets in Copenhagen accept people that speak English but don't speak Danish for shelf stocking or other positions in a supermarket? Also fast food companies like mcdonalds or burger king do they accept english speaking people?
