Not because they lack personality, but because they never trained their brain to store *interestingness*. They default to small talk. Or awkward silences. Or worse, they start info-dumping facts no one asked for. This post is not about “speaking tips” or “confidence hacks”. This is about the *input*. You become more interesting by consuming high-quality, story-rich, emotionally intelligent content consistently. This is a curated reading list backed by psychology, social science and massive personal trial and error. It’s not based on TikTok recs from people who learned social skills from dating apps and hustle ****. These books are referenced in podcasts ... Pathetic Interview Experience at Sainsbury’s 😭1h agoI am writing this post in the state of distress and anxiety. I had an interview today at Winterstroke Road, Bristol for the role of ONLINE ASSISTANT. The interview was scheduled for 3:00 pm. I was at my job from 4am in the morning and still I managed to get in store at 02:51 pm (they can check the CCTV and the register). I reported that I am here for an interview and the person asked me to wait in the restaurant for colleagues which was fine. It was 3pm no one showed, totally understandable that he must be in some store tasks. Its 3:15 still no show! May be some emergency. Well, it was 3:30 pm when a person showed and asked me if I am here for an interview. But he took someone else inside fo... My big toe is lot longer that my second toe1h agoI (26M) love my girlfriend (26F) but I don’t see marriage in our future because of her sexual past. Is that ok?1h agoSo I’ve been dating my girlfriend for a little over 3 years. We’re both 26. I was a late bloomer when it comes to dating, I didn’t really have the confidence or looks until around 23, she’s actually the first serious relationship I’ve ever had. She’s super attractive and gets a ton of attention, both in public and also in her DMs, but weirdly enough it’s never made me insecure. I don’t obsess over who’s looking at her or if she’s cheating on me or anything, because I honestly don’t see her as a long term partner. That’s the part I’m struggling with. She had a lot of relationship/sexual experience before me, like multiple partners, casual stuff, all of it, and mean... Generational bigboard(v1.3) - Generational update from a generational author who never bought the Bronny James hype. No ...1h ago1) AJ Dybansta - BYU - I was ready to drop him out of the top3 for that first half vs UConn but he redeemed himself and hit a bigtime 3. No doubt, AJ could've chosen a better spot to showcase surrounded by better 3pt shooters and better bigs. 2) Caleb "Giannis from Georgia" Wilson - UNC - Boozer will not overtake the #1 or #2 spot on my board til he beats the **** out of Caleb Wilson and UNC. This kid is a demon everywhere on the court but especially inside the 3pt line, his activity level is off the charts. 3) Cameron Boozer - Duke - I told you whiney b1tches that I'd move him up the board if he hits his 3's and here we are. Rejoice and be merry. 4) Darryn P... Testimonials about the powerful anti-anxiety effects of the supplement N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG) from 50 people who tri...1h agoThe supplement **N-acetyl glucosamine** (NAG) at a dose of 700 to 1400 mg daily can be remarkably effective for treating generalised anxiety disorder. The anxiolytic effects of NAG appear within 2 hours of taking an oral dose. There is no tolerance build-up with NAG, it is not addictive, and there are no withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it. When I first posted about the anxiolytic effects of NAG in [this 2012 thread](https://forums.phoenixrising.me/threads/completely-eliminated-my-severe-anxiety-symptoms-with-three-supplements.18369/), around 50 people tried it, with 70% of these people reporting it decreased their anxiety, and 50% reporting that NAG resulted in a profound reductio... What are some misconceptions about the Y2K era that you want to address?1h agoI’ll start: For one, Y2K was blasted by a lot of Gen Xers because they felt that it was sub-par compared to the early to mid 90s and they felt it's more corporate and artificial compared to the underground early to mid 90s. Also, the idea that bubblegum teen pop defined Y2K as a whole is really confusing. People thought at the time when the big five of teen pop of the Y2K era (Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Christina Aguilera) were at their prime, older audiences (mostly Gen Xers) viewed their music as too spurious and too commercialized for them to listen. In fact, the whole misconception that Y2K was optimistic as a whole and the optimism ended due ... Tales of Xillia impressions so far1h agoAfter finishing vesperia a bit ago, I been on a tales kick. Recently, I started Xillia last week. Im playing the ps3 version for anyone wondering. I’m about 25 hours into the game and at the half way point of chapter 2. I wanted to give my thoughts so far of the game. I got to say I do love the cast of characters. They are funny as heck, great moments to have especially in the skits/side quests, and are great to be around. Makes me excited to spend more time with them. I haven’t had this much fun with a cast of characters where I liked them all since symphonia. Key word being “all”. Still enjoyed the vesperia cast aside from what annoying mage. My favorite character is Alvin so far... Do you guys believe in Evil Eye (more commonly known as Nazar)?1h agoI'm not superstitious at all. I do not believe in any superstition except Evil Eye because I've probably been a victim of evil eye myself. Back in my native village of UP, there's a lady infamous for having evil eye. My grandparents warned about her but despite their warnings, I'd been in contact with her multiple times whenever I used to visit my village during school vacations. She was literally our neighbor so it's difficult to avoid her. She complimented my physical fitness and suddenly I lost a lot of weight and became weak. She praised me for being extroverted and confident and I became one socially anxious introvert with massive self esteem issues not long a... All-in on Agentic Coding and built MoAI-ADK1h agoI lost ₩20M on a failed AI project… so I went all-in on Agentic Coding and built MoAI-ADK At the start of this year, I made a very expensive mistake. I trusted a “vibe coding” approach, launched a project on Wadiz, and fully believed we could deliver everything with AI-assisted development. We didn’t. We missed the promised deadline, had to refund every single customer, and the ad budget went straight to loss. Roughly ₩20M (~$15K) gone from the company. On top of the money, my health, time, and motivation all took a big hit. It was one of those “maybe I should just quit this” moments. Instead… something snapped. I got stubborn. ⸻ Going all-in on Agentic Coding I... Hey everyone — small update from me1h agoBetween working 45+ hours a week, looking after the family, and squeezing in late nights, I’ve been chipping away at improving FlowECU, the tool I released a few days ago. A few people messaged asking about pricing, so I’ve decided to offer a discounted early-supporter price of $699 USD until 1 January. After that it goes to the normal $997–$1000 pricing. The goal isn’t to rush anyone — it’s just a way to give people the chance to try it at a lower cost while I gather more feedback and keep improving things. If you want to see what FlowECU actually does, here’s a short walkthrough video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_CVuYn36FA And here’s the official website with the ... Week 12: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly1h ago**The Good** 1. Stephen MF Austin chasing the Top 8. Yes Stephen F Austin, also known as “Stone Cold” Stephen F Austin firmly put themselves in the bye conversation with a massive win over Lamar. As one of the preseason Southland favorites this isn’t really a shock for the Lumberjacks but the chase is real. With the Southland title secured and an 9 game win streak after starting 0-2 I think it’s an easy case to make. Minus an FCS Week 13 Doomsday disaster against Northwestern State I think this will be 1 of the top 8. 2. Bozeman Blowout. Brent Vigen’s men covered the spread and dominated UC Davis after a sluggish start. Especially when Bad Beat Brent realized the team needed a po... How to Master Downsizing: Essential Tips for a Stress-Free Move1h ago***Most of us know the feeling—we stand in our homes, look at the stuff we've collected over the years, and wonder how to squeeze it all into a smaller place.*** Most of us know the feeling—we stand in our homes, look at the stuff we've collected over the years, and wonder how to squeeze it all into a smaller place. Life changes push us toward downsizing. Sometimes, retirement, a new lifestyle, or money matters drive this decision. My experience with helping many families downsize their homes has taught me a lot. This complete guide offers real-world tips and strategies that work. Let's explore everything from getting into the right mindset to keeping your momentum going... Midnight Mission1h agoI've been painting minis for tabletop games for about 2 years now. Started with Shatterpoint, got some 40K, bought a bunch of clearance SW Legion. Have yet to finish painting most of it all, and I try not to add to the pile of shame. MCP ended up being retail therapy. A few weeks ago my dog passed away, and I just needed something to distract me from the sorrow. As a big Moon Knight fan, the Midnight Sons affiliation box called out to me, and in my emotionally vulnerable state, I picked it up (along with a few other boxes over the course of the week). A piece of advice I learned from the hobby is to work on your newest purchases first. You just got it, you're currently excited ab... Debating joining a studio1h agoI’ve been too a few yoga studios over the years, I’ve never particularly had a bad experience but I don’t think I’ve ever been to one that I felt excited about (there was one but it was such a far drive) I was going to yoga classes through 24hr fitness for a while but I recently moved and none of the gyms near me offer yoga which is insane to me. So I’m debating going a studio, but my main issues are Finance. Yoga studios are pretty high priced and I’m in a tight budget. I know back in the day some studios offered work trade but I feel like that’s less and less readily available Timing. My work schedule fluctuates from 4a-2:30p, 10a-6:4030p, or 1p-9:30p so I feel like find... 지하철 and a discussion with ChatGPT about why Korean seems hard1h agoTrigger warning: ChatGPT (There's a chance Reddit's "AI slop" filters will block this, but I try to use ChatGPT for learning. I think we should all distrust every input we get to a certain extent, and, as we learn, we're bound to misunderstand things that need to be corrected later (what did you misunderstand as a child?). So, yes, ChatGPT can spew some nonsense, and I hope you point that out, but I'm not sure it's worse than human nonsense. And some of that nonsense can be good for remembering things!) TLDR: I keep forgetting Korean words/phrases, in this case 지하철 (subway), trying to figure out why with ChatGPT's help. I hope this is useful f... Are the coaches not really coaching anymore?1h agoI recently re-joined OTF at a new studio after a year and a half focusing on weight lifting instead. But on top of that, I broke my foot this summer and moved, too! So I’m getting back into the OTF swing of things gradually, which feels great. I have gone to two different studios in my new area and noticed that none of the coaches make suggestions or adjust poor form. I’ve worked out long enough to know when someone probably isn’t doing something right. The coaches will simply stand at their post. At my old studios, coaches would make individual corrections or encourage you to lift heavier, or suggest alternative moves. But not here. It’s a real bummer. I’ve also mentioned to the c... What’s your most gross/interesting pick up? Not a driver, but I witnessed a pretty gross pickup that has stuck with me...1h agoI used to work with a church ran respite for people who were homeless. The respite would order Ubers for the guests to go places like the methadone clinic or various medical appointments. A lot of these guests were mentally unwell and surprisingly many refused to use the free showers or free clean clothes offered. Many had lived a hard life of drugs and alcohol which had taken a toll on their bodies and their minds, so they would be staying temporarily at respite for various health reasons. A surprising number were often incontinent and reeked of urine and feces. Very rare to meet a non smoker there so usually they all also smelled like week old ash trays. Bed bugs were also a constant. I... Issue with Konica Big Mini BM-2011h agoHey all, I just picked up a Konica Big Mini point and shoot from an antique market which appeared to be in good condition and functioning seemingly well (flash worked, film spooled in initially, shutter fired, autofocus largely ok). However, I got to the end of the 36 exp roll and it just kept going and stopped counting past 39 but kept advancing with each shot. I ended up rewinding it “early” developing the roll to find it was not advancing a complete frame each exposure, so a lot of overlapping frames I popped in a fresh battery and ran a 24 exp dummy roll making sure teeth were spooled in place and it shot “36” exposures before automatically rewinding. Does anyone have any adv... Growing Pains and Becoming Who We Are1h agoE, I almost considered writing and mailing you a letter today but decided against it. I'll write here instead. So, where do I start? First, I think I owe you a few apologies. When we last talked, I was sarcastic to you. I was also unclear, defensive, and immature. I'm sorry. It's not my job to get you to be accountable. I pushed you to see my point of view when I should have known it was a losing battle. I think that after that many years of friendship, I deserved more thoughtful engagement than what you offered then, but there is never any guarantee of that with "only" friendship; you didn't owe me anything. I just overestimated my importance to you. I supp... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
