Our relationship to smoking

2h ago

Do you remember ashtrays in grocery stores, teachers smoking at the teacher lounge, or the smoking section of restaurants? Do you remember when "vaping" was called e-cigs and people only used them to quit smoking? I remember seeing ashtrays at Kmart and Meijer. I think I saw people smoking inside Meijer when I was very little, but I'm pretty sure it was getting phased out by the late 80s. Some states and countries had different timelines, but I remember going on vacation to Florida as a kid and seeing ashtrays on the tables at Burger King. We were shocked, even though you could smoke inside sit-down restaurants where we lived. I waited tables and bartended early/mid 2000s...

Everything feels exponentially worse this year

2h ago

When this year started I was actually doing pretty alright. Last year I was really busy because I had just come home from some time abroad studying and I was catching up with family, getting some medical stuff taken care of, etc. So, I didn't really have a lot of time to myself in 2024, and tbh even though I was being really productive I was kinda depressed that I never had time to just like... sit and play video games or watch a movie. This year I finally got time to do more stuff I wanted to in my free time. I started going to arcades because I hadn't been since I was a kid and started really enjoying hanging out at some of my local ones. I overall was just out and about doi...

What skis should I get? Used to ski Honeybadger and Punx

2h ago

Hey, so my skis are getting pretty worn out and I'm looking to get some new ones for this season. I used to ski a lot as a kid and knew everything about every brand, but these days I couldn't even tell you what turn radius I have on my current skis. I'm 177cm tall and I'm currently skiing on Line Honey Badgers 177cm. These skis are super fun and great for playing around all over the mountain, doing small tricks off natural features and such. Also been great for rails, but feels pretty sketchy as soon as I get some air time. They're very light so not a lot of stability on medium to big jumps. Prior to these, I had a pair of 182cm Atomic Punx (they only made 172 an...

SGBX-A Rare Structural Alignment: Float, FTD Pressure, and Market Mechanics Converging

2h ago

Hi! There’s been a lot of noise around this ticker lately — screenshots, isolated FTD dates, and conclusions pulled out of context. But when you step back and look at the full structure, the setup becomes much clearer. This is one of the rare micro-caps where the float, the FTD cycle, and the market mechanics are all pointing in the same direction -and that’s exactly why this name is getting attention from serious traders. Here’s the clean breakdown: 1) A big FTD stack is hitting a very small float. Most tickers can absorb failed deliveries. This one can’t -the tradable float behaves like it’s well under 1M shares. So when large FTDs roll into T+35, the pressure matters. Ev...

Yarra Trams "Did You Know?" cards from 2008

2h ago

All the talk about Metro Tunnel pins reminded me of trying to collect this full set of 10 cards back in 2008. From memory a new card was distributed on trams every week or so. Have there been any other public transport collection 'games' since then?

Advice needed: Looking for a cheap, non-messy medium for on-the-fly small figurine sculpts.

2h ago

I'm looking for suggestions as to what material to use for a rather unique project. The short version of what I'm searching for is above, but **the long version requires some context** (though I don't blame you if it's tl;dr). My partner and I are making plans to co-host a **TTRPG about mad scientists and monsters**. The system is extremely **modular**, with players being able to refine and replace parts of their creatures as they play. I think it'd be really fun and help encourage creativity if a **sculpting medium** is provided for my players to **make visual representations** of their creations, with loads of fun bits and pieces available to stick on as well (I h...

35 [M4F] Manitoba/Canada | Click Around and Find Out!

2h ago

Hi there! My name is Jon (36M) and I'm hoping to find someone local to go on some adventures with and see where things lead. I'm based in Manitoba and would love to meet up in person! **About me:** I'm a Computer Science teacher at a local college and I'm passionate about my work. I'm around 180 lbs and average-ish build, but I've been trying to be more active lately after spending the past years teaching hybrid in-person/at-home. I'm a big fan of hugs and physical affection, although I am very timid about initiating. Here are a couple totally ***not*** staged photos of me: [https://imgur.com/a/r4r-pictures-ngZZ3ZP](https://imgur.com/a/r4r-pictures-ng...

Hot take: Hakari is slept on because his fighting style is less flashy and unorthodox compared to other top tiers

2h ago

A lot of top tier fights in JJK boil down to "my big move is better than your big move" (I am aware theres more than this but you get the idea) and Hakari kind of breaks this idea and instead has a more "I don't have a big move, but your big move doesn't work on me either" approach which breaks the formula. This isn't to say it isn't effective, we saw that it is with Kashimo and Uraume, 2 of the most lethal sorcerers in JJK. He couldn't put them down quickly, but since they couldn't put him down either, he has the advantage in the log run because damage builds up on them or their reserves trickle down whereas Hakari stays in top shape. In a m...

Honestly, I don’t understand why most black people don’t understand that some of us can have mental health issues!

2h ago

Especially my mother. Who sits here and think my problems are just behavior issues that need to be corrected. I’m tired of not being taken seriously when it comes to this my mental health issues. Growing up I was never confident and had self esteem issues till this day. All my mother did was yell at me because of it. If I didn’t act confident or shy/talkative, I got in trouble embarrassing her. My hygiene is also bad too because mainly because I’m afraid and have a big fear of taking my clothes off even while alone but I try to take care of myself the best I could. She doesn’t understand this since she thinks that I’m choosing to be lazy and I’m not caring enough. I’m also afra...

about Geats vs Nero

2h ago

So I don’t know much about Nero but I do know a lot about Kamen Rider and the big elephant in the room for me is this. A Kamen Rider can’t die. As long as the people believe in, and need Kamen Rider they can’t die. I know this sounds like a writing cliche but it is actually something that is stated and happens multiple times within the series. Heck they were able to come to life in a world where they nothing but fictional characters because the people needed to be saved. Manga Kuuga jumped from his 2d page to the 3D world just to help fight evil. Ichigo died and came back to life because someone cried out that they still needed him. The KR cosmology gets kinda insane and I know DB ...

Bernie Sanders Definitely Doesn’t Think Trump Is the ‘Affordability President’

2h ago

Brutal Fact Check President Donald Trump recently touted himself as the “AFFORDABILITY PRESIDENT” and suggested this branding would help his fellow Republicans win in next year’s midterm elections. His comments clearly seem borrowed from the playbook of New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist whose upstart campaign was laser focused on addressing the affordability crisis in the Big Apple. On Monday afternoon, TPM asked both Mamdani and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), another Democratic Socialist who similarly homed in on income inequality during his two presidential campaigns, what they thought of Trump’s attempt to take the mantle of “affordability.” “I...

LG WKEX200HWA WashTower VS Fixed

2h ago

I bought LG WKEX200HWA WASHTOWER in July 2024. Last month, the washer stopped with VS error code. I tried to reset the washer, but it didn't help. So I researched on Reddit and YouTube for the solution to the problem and I saw a lot of people have the same problem as me. After the research, I found the vibration sensor is bad which caused the error code. part of the two vibration sensor. one with original and other is an alternative. so I go with alternative one. EBD48922821 is the sensor. My biggest concern is do I need to take the dryer off from the washer tower. Luckly I found video on YouTube for disassembly LG WKEX200HWA. That was big help me to figure out to how to access to...

Qashqai

2h ago

Ok, I know most of you seem to **** the looks of a Qashqai, but I really like it. I want one for ages but I also dont wanna spend a big amount of money after getting one. I'm not irish and there's no Qashqai in my country so I've zero experience background. Chatgpt said to budget 2k in maintenance for the first 6-12 months, is that accurate? Would it be much different with different cars? I've zero experience with mechanics prices in Ireland. For context, my budget is around 2k for the car, found a 2010 qashqai that I like a lot for a little less than that, 200k km. Can someone make points on it since I've no one to talk about it, please? Thanks

Chair recommendation after Embody

2h ago

I’ve tried to love this chair for over a year. I even bought the Atlas headrest to give it the best possible chance. But as a WFH employee that also enjoys gaming, I tend to sit for long hours, the constant tailbone and lower back pain has convinced me it’s time to sell it. I assumed it was just an adjustment period, but the pain never went away. My main gripes are: 1. **Armrests:** I absolutely **** them. The lack of 4D adjustment is a dealbreaker for me. 2. **Seat Comfort:** The padding is way too thin. For $2,000, I shouldn't have to buy aftermarket cushions to sit comfortably. 3. **Lumbar:** The Backfit adjustment doesn't provide support; it just feels like a stiff plate ...

42F | Free Spirit Seeking Similar Souls

2h ago

Hey there, I’m 42, childfree, independent, and have my life together - solid career, good mental and physical health, and yes, I take care of myself (big on skincare and anti-aging). I am into mountain biking, scuba diving, traveling/backpacking, swimming, camping, solitude in nature. But when it's rainy outside, I like to read existentialist novels or anything like Kakfa's 1984, Camus while listening to Carbon Based Lifeforms. I listen to Black Sabbath, Nevermore and Iced Earth once in while. On my usual angsty days, I listen to Fugazi and Unwound. What I can offer? Consistent daily chats, I have social skills and able to form flowy and natural conversation if we click. Valid...

26 [M4F] #Missouri - Seeking a serious relationship with someone compatible with me

2h ago

Good morning everyone, I am a guy living a decent life, but of course missing more substance to it. I fill my boredom with entertainment and exercise to fill the void which otherwise is annoyingly occupied with work. The loneliness I feel is becoming more and more tiring everyday because I live alone. So I come here, to seek someone who wants to be my best-friend partner; as in someone who wants to go have fun (outdoorsy activities, travel, movies, cycling, etc.), enjoy learning new things and wants to improve on what they are all ready learning (like mine is cooking for example). I also want someone I can be emotionally vulnerable with and tell anything to with utter amount of trust becaus...
