Truly great dinner spot in Midtown/Times Square/Broadway area?

3h ago

I have successfully convinced my husband to make a one night trip to NYC the weekend of Thanksgiving to see a show on Broadway (Sunday matinee). He isn’t really into this - he loves NYC, musical theater not so much. I’m in charge of planning Saturday night. I want to take him somewhere for dinner that will knock his socks off. Here’s what I’m looking for: - 20-30 minute walk from Broadway/Times Square (we love walking the city and will be staying near the theater) - Great food. We live in a big city, eat out a lot, eat out at a lot of great places. I want to impress him but standards are higher than average. - Prefer American, Italian, French - Not a chain - Gorgeous setting/r...

Sweetgreen ($SG): The market is pricing it for bankruptcy, but the unit economics tell a different story

3h ago

TL;DR: $SG is trading at all-time lows because of a revenue miss, but the sell-off is exaggerated. The thesis isn't "salad is good," it's that their automation tech ("Infinite Kitchen") fundamentally changes their margin profile. At $6, the risk/reward is asymmetric, and the bears are overcrowded. The Bear Case (Why it’s down) Let’s be real: paying $18 for a bowl of kale in a recession is a tough sell. Q3 same-store sales were down (-9.5% roughly), and they lowered guidance. The market hates unprofitable growth stocks right now. That’s why it’s at $6. I get it. The Bull Case (Why the market is wrong) Wall Street is treating this like a traditional restau...

how do i get over a breakup that was mostly my fault; someone who was there through thick and thin?

3h ago

It's been two weeks. I've accepted the fact there is no more "us", and even though they want to be friends, we already know less about each other and are drifting apart. They met me at a supposedly perfect time in my life; I was insecure, growing up in a religious school as a ***** person, and scared to confess to them, and when they gave me a chance, it improved my self esteem drastically. We went through all 4 years of high school together, and were together from the beginning of my junior year up until now, my fall semester of university. We shared some interests in common, and even those we didn't, we talked for hours about. We talked about a future I would f...

Infinite Lives initial thoughts and where I think there's room for improvement

3h ago

I feel like there's a decent base for a game here but it does need a bit of polish. I think of Mat's current crop of games, Empire is still hands down the best one. Off of early impressions here's what I found lacking, but in the name of constructive criticism what I'd change to hopefully improve things (because otherwise he might write an AI song about how I am nobody and what I should do to do to day): * Lack of direction and clarity. For the first ten minutes I was wondering why I couldn't transform. Apparently the solution was to get my face broken in a fight and that awakened my powers. Fine. Now I know. But a tutorial in the early game might help. It would al...

Where to find a ~3ft, skinny, live Christmas tree?

3h ago

I know tons of places are carrying trees now, but I’m wondering if anyone has seen this particular size. At my local convenience stores, I’m seeing lots of ~2ft potted trees, and everywhere else you can get ~5ft trees, but I feel like the sweet spot for my space is right in the middle of that range. Any help is appreciated :) thanks! edit: east end would be great, but I have a car so really anywhere in the city is fine.

[Recap] Royale Episode 13: The One Where Travis Barely Talks

3h ago

Hello jerkers. I hope your biweeks went well. In short: There will be a third Wizardly Interlude. Item submissions are still open. I recommend skipping the episode or skipping to after the ad break. Let's get into it. Griffin acknowledges most of last episode was spent on a prank. > **Griffin:** When I say 'we,' I mean that was mostly you guys. And honestly mostly Travis. > > **Travis:** What?! > > **Griffin:** Well it was your idea. > > **Travis:** That's fair. > > **Griffin:** Uh it is the morning though - > > **Travis:** And I don't regret it! > > **Griffin:** Okay. Not...

Did NVIDIA sellers have inside information?

3h ago

This week two big things happened: A Lot of NVIDIA stock was sold, somewhat inexplicably, Then, days later, Gemini 3 was released, suggesting a path for Google to rule the AI market in the near future. Google didn't use NVIDIA GPUs to train Gemini 3. It used it's own proprietary TPU chip, a trend one would assume will only accelerate. Even close watchers of the space were somewhat surprised by the launch of Gemini 3, but there had been rumors all week. Did the sellers of NVIDIA have inside information? (There were also some high profile buyers of Google recently, those transactions are less suspicious though)

18 days in Sri Lanka - Any advice?

3h ago

Hello everyone. I am planning on visiting Sri Lanka for the first time and am in need of some advice for planning a route. I plan to mainly spend my time between Colombo and Jaffna, but understand I will be missing out on a lot. Currently I have booked a hotel in Colombo for 8 days, but on reflection this might be a bit too much. I am to spend the rest of the time in Jaffna. I don't want to pack in as much as possible, as I would like a fair bit of solitary time too, but would like to hear your thoughts on some day trips, 2-3 day trips in between Colombo and Jaffna. Is it worth using Colombo as a base, before I venture up to Jaffna or should I be looking at doing other things too. I...

Weekly Review 8: Widow Jane 10 Year

3h ago

Like many of us here, I have amassed enough of a collection to alternate between pride and shame at the sheer volume of delicious whiskey I’ve swaddled myself in. As a result, I’m challenging myself to write at least one review a week and post it here until I run out of whiskey or interesting things to say. The latter is definitely the odds-on favorite. There is a locally-owned, highly cultivated wine shop near me that my wife enjoys because their wine suggestions align really well with her palate. They have a small but generally well-curated whiskey selection as well, which I normally ignore because they don’t tend to carry anything too far out of the ordinary. However, one evening...

Putting my love and passion for my job into a small business!!

3h ago

I'm a COTA who's spent over 24 years working with kids on the spectrum, and honestly? It's been the most rewarding journey of my life. But the "sensory toys" at big box stores didn't actually do what kids needed them to do. So I created something different. Sensory kits designed with the same intention I bring to my therapy sessions—every single item has a purpose. Fine motor development, sensory regulation, meaningful play that actually supports your child's growth. This small business is my way of extending support beyond the four walls of a therapy room and into your home, where the real magic happens. If this resonates with you, I'd be so gratefu...

Second hand do *most* things ski

3h ago

Ciao! Looking for a bit of advice from you lovely people, have read many many posts but thought I'd post to get the latest gossip Im 36, 182 cm and around 70-72 kg so quite light and gangly but athletically built, I guess somewhere between intermediate and advanced. I can ski down anything on the mountain and enjoy off piste a lot. I guess I split between 60/40 piste and messing around off the sides/off piste, so annoyingly looking for something that does it all! Have always rented all mountain kinda 85-94 waist and 180 length. I like going fast on piste but not race fast, also enjoy a pootle at the end of the day. Never ski trees or park. I'm generally not a performance ...

They could have done something great with Wicked, but…

3h ago

Sorry I deleted and reposted cause wanted to add a video for comparison: Look I wasn’t a fan of the musical nor did I know much about it before the films, so not my expertise. But when I think of a successful stage to movie adaptation, I think Mamma Mia! The play was successful, ABBA had a big fan base already, and the film had high expectations with the cast being a lot of celebrities. And people love it, is such a feel good movie; as the play was. Plus, it seems everyone had an amazing time filming it. The cast always talks about what a blast it was. There’s footage of the filming and the wrap party where everyone is dancing and laughing, having a drink. Everyone looks good and h...

How did Shelldiver become so successful right at launch?

3h ago

For those who don't know, [Shelldiver](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3862670/Shelldiver/) is an incremental that released only 4 days ago and is already at over 1200 reviews. That should translate to over 50k sales so far. Now, I've bought it and it's a lot of fun and really polished. But I was wondering - how did this happen? Searching for reddit posts gives me excactly 3 results from months ago with 13, 8 and 3 comments respecitvely. There was pretty much no engagement at all. I can't find a single post in the last few days that even mentioned the game on this sub. Yet it seems to be by far the most successful incremental to release in forever. At the rate this i...

is this a jumping spider?

3h ago

So I ordered a jumping spider (Phidippus Regius Bahamas) from a French breeder last week. This little guy was also in the tube she came in, but lost him when I put her inside her enclosure. I found him again today because he was hanging outside of her enclosure (ventilation holes too big for him not to escape lol). I was able to put him in the original tube again, but I'm not sure what kind of spider he is and what his needs are. I haven't been able to watch him a lot so idk if he jumps, but from what I saw he likes chilling quite high and he's sometimes just hanging by a thread. I really want to take care of him but I'm not used to caring for spiders yet, and this one is...

3h ago

i am looking to buy AE dress shoes (looking at park ave or 5th ave. along with their monk straps. and some other shoes). unfortunately i dont have a AE store near me.... I have fked up feet. and my left big toe kind of turns slightly upwards. this causes alot of shoes top toebox to slightly press down on my toes nail. eventually causing pain couple hours later. And this lasts for like 24 hours...) my default shoes atm are Hokas at 10 wides. they are perfect sizing for me. all around. (foot arch areas width, toebox width, toebox height, etc) for AE, because they have Width sizing, im looking to get AE. but how are their toebox height?

Unflattering photo of me at an industry event uploaded

3h ago

I recently got to give a talk at a medium sized industry event. As usual, they had event photographers and asked for consent to use the photos for their marketing when they booked me as a speaker. I consented, of course. In the past there was usually one or two photos that I even used for my LinkedIn and who says no to free photos that convey competency and professionalism. Today I got the email with the link to the after event page. And there was only one photo of me: Overexposed and blurry. My eyes are almost closed, my mouth is wide open and somehow I looked a lot sweatier than I was in reality. Being paranoid, I asked my partner if I'm just too critical or hyperaware of my own fla...

This New 28-Year Microgrid Deal Might Be the Moment NXXT Becomes a Real Operator

3h ago

A lot of small-cap energy names talk about projects but never actually land anything that turns into steady, contracted revenue. That’s why NXXT’s new 28-year PPA is such a big deal - it’s the first time they’re stepping into **full asset ownership**, not one-off installs or consulting. When you’re the one generating, storing, and delivering the power for nearly three decades, the cash flow becomes predictable instead of “maybe we get another project next quarter.” The Sunnyside microgrid is a proper multi-source setup: solar, batteries, and the site’s existing gas backup working together. Healthcare clients basically *need* this kind of design because it checks both cost-co...
