Wrote a short blur shader tutorial! Would like feedback.

3h ago

https://bun3d.com/tutorials/misc/godot_blur_shader/ I've been making a lot of VFX stuff for godot lately and a lot of people have been asking for some tutorials. For my first one I decided to try something small because I'm new to this kind of stuff. Would love some feedback. Should I talk more or less about general concepts? I'd like to write more indepth guides that are aimed to make concepts understandable instead of just sharing the code, but I understand if people prefer more straightforward tutorials. What would you like to see? I'm thinking of writing about UVs, because they're kind of the one big core concept in shaders, but are there any other stuffs you...

Is Disney Dining Plan More than Enough?

3h ago

hey yall, I got three days at Disney with the dining plan. I need to budget as much as possible to control my spending since I can get overboard if I dont plan enough. I see that the dining plan comes with a sit down meal, quick service, a drink cup, and a snack. from yalls experience is that enough food to last a day or was it too little? We don't eat a lot, tbh. I just don’t know how big their portion sizes are. my partner and I were thinking of bringing a 75 dollar gift card for misc food expense. I think that’s a good plan. Lmk what you think

Genuinely asking - do any of you actually audit your landing pages or do we all just guess

3h ago

Been thinking about this for a while and want to know if it's just me. I've been building SaaS products for about 3 years now. Currently on my second one - a niche CRM for real estate photographers. We're at about $3.5K MRR, growing but slowly. And I realized recently that in 3 years of doing this, I have never once done a proper, structured review of any landing page I've built. Not once. I just... make the page. Look at it. Think "yeah that looks professional enough." Ship it. Then obsess over traffic numbers without ever questioning whether the page itself is any good. A few weeks ago I was complaining to another founder about my conversion rate being stuc...

AITAH for calling off my wedding over how my fiancé handled my dad?

3h ago

Hi eveyone, my heart is still beating a lot when I type this text so, please bear with me and sorry if my English is not perfect! I (29F) was supposed to get married last weekend to my fiancé (31M), who I had been with for almost four years. About my background, I was raised by two dads who had been together for decades. When I was 12, my older dad (who I like to call "big dad") passed away in a car accident, and after that my other dad (small dad) raised me by himself. He worked extra shifts to keep our house, learned how to braid my hair for school when I was younger, helped me with homework even when he was exhausted, and never missed a single important moment in my life. He w...

Whats has PF's music brought into your life ?

3h ago

I don’t know if it’s possible to /uj for a moment and talk a bit more seriously, but I felt like getting something off my chest. I’d also really like to hear your stories about what music has brought into your lives. Today David is 80 years old, and I’m 31. And yet I can’t help but feel like I wasted a monumental amount of time before really diving into Pink Floyd. The first time I listened to TDSOM I was exactly 18. After that it became this sort of comfort album for me, something I would put on late at night when coming back home from work. But somehow I never really explored the rest of their discography. Looking back, I think part of me was actually afraid of what it might ma...

I built a visual routine iOS app because my Autistic & ADHD kid needed one (and nothing else worked)

3h ago

I’m an engineering manager and a parent, and like many people here I have ADHD traits myself. My 5-year-old is in the autism spectrum, and has ADHD too, and mornings used to feel like I was narrating his entire life: >“Brush teeth” >“No, toothbrush first” >“Now pajamas off” >“No, socks after pants” He **knows the steps**, but his brain just can’t sequence them yet without constant prompting. Everything must be **VERY visual**. We tried everything people recommend: * timers * wall checklists * magnetic routine boards * visual charts The problem wasn’t understanding the routine. The problem was **executive function**. If I stopped n...

Looking for genuine girl friends in London — 22F, finance girlie who loves food, drinks & adventures 🍜

3h ago

Hey everyone! I’ll keep this simple because I genuinely find it hard to put myself out there. I’m 22, work in finance, and recently realised that making female friends as an adult in London is… surprisingly hard? I’m in a relationship so I’m definitely just here for the girl friendships. A little about me: I live for trying new restaurants — honestly most of my salary goes on food and I have zero regrets 😅 I love a casual drink out but I’m also very happy staying in, watching something, or just chatting. Big traveller at heart and trying to get back into reading. This year I really want to tick off learning heels dance or salsa — anyone else been wanting to try that? W...

Why I am the way Iam

3h ago

I always seem to forget my place in people's lives. A little bit of affection and attention from someone and I think I am worthy of them, of love. Yet every once in a while,I am reminded exactly who I am and where I stand. When I was in the hostel and I finally received the dress I was excitedly waiting for, I put it on and felt like the prettiest in the world. I called my mum all giddy and happy to show how pretty I looked and hoped she'd finally call me beautiful or say something nice. She said I finally looked decent enough and the color looks bland on me. Maroon isn't my favourite color anymore. The day I posted a story of my brother's photo from the award ceremony w...

My literal first experience in Monster Hunter Rise from yesterday

3h ago

* Notices the game is on offer on Switch, really cheap, buys it * Notices how the game is free on PS+, gets it * Installs it first on the PS4 * Enters the game, spend 10 minutes creating a character (fun ngl) * Intro, lore, etc * Tutorial pop ups, lots of info but still reads. Not so hard to learn * More pop ups with info * Big ******* tutorial pop up dump that has so much text it makes me go dizy (I was already kind of tired at that moment of the day) * Finally I can move freely. * Goes to blacksmith out of curiosity. Talks to him. Game crashes * Uninstall I'll try the game again soon, but this first impression as a non-monster hunter player was both funny and infuriating.

Class decision

3h ago

I’ve played a Bard to 55 and my Chanter is about to hit 50 and can say the chanter is my favorite class I’ve ever played. Kind of just ticks all the boxes, it’s a lot of fun. However, I would like to eventually make a new character that would seem to be just as fun. I’m really conflicted on what to pick, but have narrowed it down to an SK, Shaman, or Necro. I am really leaning towards Necro, as I do solo a lot with my Chanter as is, but the caveat is that I can break charm and get full xp for both mobs, whereas a Necro has this luxury at times, but seems their pet is a big part of their kit. I’ve tried asking a lot of times to Necro’s if the pet xp stealing is really an issue...

autism and loud noises

3h ago

so today i went to the grocery store and everything was fine until this kid started screaming. it was a whole thing, like shaking the whole aisle kinda loud. my brain just kinda stopped working for a bit. nearly dropped my basket. is this something that happens to others? i mean, i've noticed it lots before but sometimes it's just so overwhelming, like my brain can't filter it out. earbuds only help so much. anyway, just venting bc it's been a day already and that did not help. thanks for letting me rant.

Getting started with commander?

3h ago

Hello all, I used to play commander many many years ago (I believe bloomburrow released just shortly after I stopped?) At the time I played standard, mostly online via mtg arena. However it was becoming more and more apparent how awful the feeling of the things I spent money on becoming irrelevant and essentially paper weights, along with my life at that time simply being too busy and financially difficult to continue playing. Fast forward to now and through videos and such I've been learning a lot about Commander. Casual format, cards that don't age out, community driven (I found a really lovely game store that does frequent commander nights and popped by just to scope it out an...

A percentage of women want to make men weak.

3h ago

It's this or they're just very ignorant of men or they are doing this subconsciously (I think for a lot of younger women it may be this). Of course we're all human and there is a lot of overlap with the sexes. But probably men may have more of a explorer/experiment mentality? They are more outwardly aggressive (women can be insanely aggressive but in a different way usually). Physical strength is something men need to work on, and science apparently shows we need a different number of calorie intake etc. In our society, men have the muscles. Yes in my life, I've had my mom, when I was a minor working out, literally come into where. was exercising and freak out and p...

3h ago

Pretty much the title a lot of my friends and families says I look way too nice or like they say you nice guy or some ****. And even my ex broke up with me tho she wasn’t never clear the reason we broke up but it was obvious that I was way too nice or looked way too nice and now she is with some Latino and that just makes me like damm I wasn’t that type or some **** and even my female friends says you do look nice And I’m honestly done bcz of this I’m going gym pretty regularly tho I still got bit belly fat but my chest and shoulders big enough to make that good looking frame and I am keeping my clean grooming daily but idk man what else I can do and people say I should stop giving...

Advice re: building a custom Jedi

3h ago

Hey gang, fairly new to this hobby. Being big into Star Wars, and the Clone Wars series, I’ve started with 4 of the Council members and Artisan Anakin (sorry, Ani). I play a lot of RPGs, especially the Star Wars Wars one, and would love to build a Jedi based around my character. I’ve got a spare set of clothing from OWK from his show, plus some armour bits from Echo and a couple of clones. The thing I’m curious about is the bodies and heads. It’s a bit frustrating as over the years, the head connectors and bodies all seem to periodically change. Anyways, the question I wanted to ask is is there a certain HT figure with a solid body, or one on the third party market you might recomm...

Right now, the highest traded runningback according to KTC is RJ Harvey...

3h ago

I own him, full disclosure. I think perhaps there are some people under the illusion that the 5'8, 205lb 25 year old who received a sub 6.00 player rating by [nfl.com](http://nfl.com) can be the workhorse for the Broncos. He isn't built to be a workhorse, and he is not in an offense that uses a workhorse. He also isn't naturally talented enough, both tangibly and intangibly, to take over a backfield. What he is thou is a player with dynamic play making ability in a Sean Payton offense who has a nose for the endzone. He scored 12 times as a rookie, and while his elevated playing time didn't occur until after Dobbins get (inevitably) injured, he was never going to pl...

Grocery rewards motivation

3h ago

Hi NOVA shoppers, I’m curious in how loyalty points/rewards might shape how you shop with grocery retailers. Do/could you see points as strong enough in value to shape where you shop? If you earned a lot on core purchases like milk, eggs, etc and could get a lot of value, would that help influence where to go assuming the store was a good, dependable retailer? I know some responses might be ‘just reduce the price of stuff’ but there are levers to pull and some are easier than others to do and keep. As a resident here in NOVA but also influential in this field I’d love to focus these programs more to help people save with the right approach! Thanks for your thoughts.

Baseball season is upon us

3h ago

I do pretty well with baseball pants, you can see before and after above. These were pretty medium as dirty-ness can go. It is a labor of love, would love to hear ideas about how to reduce the labor in that equation. Here is the routine… what do you think? I do the same for both white and grey pants. 3 boys with multiple games per week. This is a big job. 1) Spray with hose (gets some dust & dirt off). 2) Stain spray spot-treat and scrub with toothbrush. Using Dad Mode because I happen to have it and it has pectic lyase for grass stains. It is far too expensive for this job though - so I’m thinking maybe some 365 Stain Remover which also (according to the lipase list) has th...
