I was originally planning on something FF like a lumix S5ii, but I couldn't resist the 50% off deal for the OM-5 so I have a bit of freedom now when it comes to lenses. I should mention I got into m43 because of the BMPCC4K which I mainly use with an EF speedbooster, but I've been using the EM10 for everyday stills the past couple years. I love being able to go from a tiny, casual setup to a fully built out kit all on the same system, but the EM10 left a lot to be desired... That being said, most of my native M43 glass has been on the lower end and I'd like ... What remote jobs exist that don't require a degree or cert? Had major surgery, won't be able to walk for a few...1h agoEvening, Long story short, I've spent a lot of my childhood getting surgery to fix a birth deformity. I stopped at age 13, I'm 32, and finally ****** it up and decided to get the job done. I had surgery on Halloween, but the process is very long, and it seems my age has caught up to me, and I may not finish till April, and may not be fully able to walk on my own till July. However, I need income. My work history is mostly customer service, in stores and in libraries. I am also an artist, and while art commissions typically pay decent, there are often times where I can go months without a commission. I also do 3D art, and know a variety of 3D modeling softwares. Thanks! Take a lower-paying job in a place I like or wait and keep looking?1h agoI am going to defend my thesis and finish my MS in Hydrogeology this summer. I have been applying to jobs and interviewing in advance of graduation. I've been mostly looking at consulting firms in the big city, but also interviewed for a conservation planner position working as joint NRCS-county conservation district employee that sounded a lot like the enjoyable stuff I did with the Forest Service back in undergrad and it is in a more rural location where I'd much rather live with lower cost of living. They offered me the job and now I have a dilemma. The starting pay is $44k/yr and the benefits are good. The work sounds nice and it's in one of my favorite areas. If the pay... Laptops?1h agoDoes any store have laptops for TMs to do trainings? or just work in general? I feel like this would cure a lot of the issues with lack of computers in HR. My experience so far with Oshi Health for IBS, reflux, and undiagnosed digestive issues1h agoI wanted to hop on and share my recent experience with Oshi Health, since I always appreciate when people share stuff like this on here, and I've seen a few people ask about/mention them recently. For context, I have always had underlying digestive issues, but they mainly flare up when I am super stressed. I remember crying in the library at college just because my stomach hurt so bad, and it happened almost every day. During this time (years ago), I went to my local GI doctor and got absolutely no answers. After waiting weeks for an appointment, the first few appointments were just them telling me to track my diet and eat more fiber. None of these helped my symptoms. Over the span of... Is using Twitter unethical with everything that has come out?1h agoSo before the Epstein files came out, I would use Twitter here and there. Not too often, but I'd pop in. However, I'd have to take a break every now and then because the racism on that app is just so bad. There's been a big increase of slur usage, nazism, pedophila, etc. Literally every time I turned around, I saw some slur being used. Now since the epstein files have come out, my friends have started saying that using Twitter is wrong, especially since Elon Musk, someone who uses racist rhetoric, is directly responsible for the increase of nazi rhetoric on there (you can't even say cisgender anymore, but you can say the n word and the f slur.) I've seen a lot of ... My Personal Leviathan Tier List (full explanation and ranking in description)1h ago# Full Ranking + Explanations I recently finished Subnautica Below Zero around 3 years after my first playthrough of the original, and after seeing community reception of the sequel, you can probably see why. People talk about Below Zero like it’s the antichrist, he who shall not be named, whatever you want to call it, but that’s not the focus of what I’m talking about. Below zero honestly SHOCKED me with how much I liked its leviathans. And I’m glad it did, because they’re arguably the most iconic part of Subnautica as a whole, besides like the peeper. Everyone remembers their first leviathan, a reefback over the grassy plateau, a chelicerate in the purple vents, the reapers ... How does currency exchange make me lose money?1h agoI am about to move to France for 6 months from NZ which has a conversion rate of roughly 2 NZD = 1 euro. Everyone I say this to always acts shocked and says I'm going to lose a lot of money but I don’t understand how that works or why it's a big deal. If my money is halved when i exchange it euro, wouldn’t it be the same for things I buy. For example, $5 NZD bottle of milk is now €2.5, so I'm still spending the same amount. Also, if I go back home, I can just convert my euros back to NZD and I'll still have what I started with\* (if I were to not spend anything while over there). Hopefully this makes sense 🙏 \*I know that currency conversion rates fluctuate and... Put/Call ratio: This is why I think bears won't be that successful. LGBTQ* friendly, 18+, come build some castles and knock them down. :D1h ago**Spirits of the Earth** is an original high fantasy sandbox RP set in an ever-growing world, focusing primarily on the diverse and magical continents of **Le'raana**, a land of old magic and conflict that is inhabited predominantly by humans, and newly discovered **Panzhong**, a land dominated by the [Shijie-ren](https://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=26671.msg386375#msg386375) and other non-humans. It's a massive world, but don't worry; with our friendly members and welcoming community, it's impossible to get lost. Itching to play a fantasy character but not sure where they'd fit? I’ve never even been on Reddit before but I watch a lot of “Smosh Reads Reddit Stories” and thought, why not? I have a problem. Whenever my friends pronounce certain words incorrectly, I have this need to correct them. I don’t do it all the time but often enough where it could be annoying. I have a friend who really wants to visit Edinburgh and she talks about it all the time. Except she always pronounces it as “Eden-burg”. I didn’t say anything because I didn‘t want to seem like a know-it-all, especially about something she's so passionate about. She also loves reading, although mainly the books mentioned on BookTok. She was tal... 2 years sober today ♥️🙏🏼🎂1h agoI came into the rooms on this day Feb 4th 2024 and when invited to share I said my name and I’m an Alcoholic. I said I could not wait another day There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership but we have all **PAID** a price to earn our seat. P - Pitiful A - And I - Incomprehensible D - Demoralisation I was welcomed, women came to me after the meeting, someone gave me a tissue as I cried a lot, I was so scared and ashamed but I was not made feel bad, I was asked can you get go a meeting tonight? Tonight? I said Yes tonight I said I have to put our kids to bed They told me that it would be good to go to a meeting in case I might drink, so I did that I went home, my husband ... A number of weeks ago I was super annoyed when apple shipped Edge Light on OSX Tahoe and didn't support Intel Macs,...1h agoWhile getting ready for a zoom call a few weeks back I was looking at my video feed and not liking my lighting very much, I have an intel mac and apple released a similar feature but only for for new M2 macs, and only for Facetime, it isn't feature dense at all and lacks any customizability. So I decided to build one, I made it super customizable and feature dense and released it to the Apple Mac Store. If people like it enough I will release on the Windows Store as well for PC. It supports multi-monitor configuration to maximize whatever desktop setup you have. Makes it super great for video calls for work. I figured its a cheap enough solution that lots of people who have to sit on ... Anticipating overstimulation and planning decompression, Do you do this too?1h agoFor me, it often goes like this: Anticipating. Overstimulation. Planning decompression. I live with anticipation anxiety and need a lot of planning and prep before big things, even social outings. Do you experience this as well? It's definitely anticipation anxiety with the need to be alone for a while after. Sold Out!1h agoWow Austin Sub is on fire today! Probably not groundbreaking, but I'd rather have another Andromeda game than another Milky Way game1h agoMake no mistake, the OT was so much better done than Andromeda was, in graphics, in writing, in lore, in everything but combat pretty much. But the story of Shepard and the Milky Way in general ended. I'm not that big a fan of the tri-color ice cream ending (i mod it out), but the trilogy was a solid conclusion to a lot of storylines with Shepard as the focus. Trying to make another game set in that universe will either a) have to account for many possible major choices that it suffers from serious bloat, or b) have to be so removed from the previous games that we get Mass Effect: Veilguard. Sure, there's more that \*could\* be made, but to me it feels complete, the story is wrappe... Music mixing workstation check!1h agoHey there! I'm a mixing engineer, working in protools with lots of big orchestral sessions, many tracks, and my current PC is from 2017. That's kind of the year I stopped following the PC parts scene. I'm trying to build a monster rig for maximum speed and silence at the same time. I would very much appreciate if you could check my build and let me know what you think. I would have one 2tb drive for OS and another 2tb one for sessions. Then backed up to other hard drives I already have. I built maybe 7 PCs in my life but the last one again is from 2017. Things seem pretty similar other than the fact that everybody has nvme drives now and ram is overpriced. [https://pcpar... The Invisible Software Running Your Life: "Each of us operates with a kind of internal software—often called a me...1h agoEach of us operates with a kind of internal software—often called a metaprogram—that works quietly in the background. It functions like an automatic filter, deciding what grabs our attention and what never even registers. Because of it, we notice certain details and completely overlook others. Thoughts, behaviors (our own and other people’s), and everyday events are instantly processed, interpreted, and filed away into mental categories we’ve built over time. # How the Mind Processes Reality This filtering happens through our cognitive system: perception, thinking, recognition, interpretation, and memory. The same experience can land in two minds and be stored as something entire... Best way to store lots of cocktail ice cubes1h agoThis Valentine's Day I'm hosting a cocktail party for my neighbors at my house, with approximately 20 guests. I do this a few times a year, and make drinks for folks all night. I think, at the last party I made 65 or so drinks (based on the tick marks on the post-it note I keep by my station). I sometimes buy clear cubes and circular ice balls, and sometimes I make lots of square cubes of varying sizes for the huge variety of drinks I make. But, last time the oldest cubes, stored in big ziplock bags were starting to get frostbite fuzz, and in some cases were sticking to each other. I'm looking for recommendations for storing large quantities of these cubes/spheres. Maybe z... 25 [M4F] #Europe/Online - Feeling Lonely And Looking for the missing piece to my puzzle <31h agoHello there! Thank you for deciding to read my post and for giving me a chance! I've been feeling particularly lonely lately, and I am hoping to make strong connections of all sorts to help alleviate the pain of that. Here are some things about me: * My name is Dan. * I turned 25 years old very recently! * I'm not religious and agnostic. * I live alone with my two adorable, beautiful, wonderful cats (I'm 100% sure that they are the most beautiful and handsome cats in existence) in Istanbul/Turkey/Europe (UTC+03:00) * Since 2023, when I graduated from my pilot operations university, I started working my dream job as an airline pilot in A320 family aircraft (I've been a hu... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
