There’s a lot of things I would change about the process if I were to do it again- most notably, the paints. Acrylic paints from craft stores are a lot cheaper than the specialized figure paints sold at hobby stores, but after working with both, I understand the difference. Acrylic paints designed for canvases leave a much thicker residue behind, whereas mini fig paints, while less pigmented, don’t leave as much depth. Using acrylic paints too much tended to cover up the details on the faces. I’ve since bought some more colors of the watered-down paints so hopefully I can at least keep the skin tones nice and light (as in the binding agent, not like whitewashing 😳) in the future.
