Flash Fiction Examples from Previous Post 1. The Precision of Grief (Approx. 250 Words) Style Reference: Lydia Davis Martha sat across from Elias. Between them lay a single, tarnished spoon."It’s not the spoon," Elias said. "It’s the way you place it.""I place it where it belongs," Martha replied."No. You place it with a finality that suggests the meal is a funeral.""Perhaps it is," Martha said. She watched the dust motes dance in the shaft of light coming through the window. "Every meal is a funeral for the time we spent preparing it."Elias leaned back. "That is a very Davis-esque thing to say. You’re being del...

For the europeans that need to share their feelings

1h ago

Hey, First of all I want to clarify that I only want peace between country and people involved in my statement. And in order to be totally transparent I have to say that Im communist. I cant proof that Im not an asset and my content is politicaly biased. But at this point and all the horrible things that I ve seen so far, I feel like I just need to tell what I feel just for my mental health. So dont take what I say like proof or whatever according as I understand to be the community guidelines. And if you need to share too, feel free to say, no judgement please. Take some mental rest. So I imagine that like a lot of you I was here just for the donald trump stuff (or not it was maybe just ...

**✝️My faith:** As predominantly a lurker in this sub, I've seen some wonderful intros so I thought I could put mine out there and see what happens! I've been blessed to have been raised in a Christian household and I was baptized in my teenage years but my faith matured gradually. Looking back, the confidence and intentionality of my faith wasn't there yet. My Christian journey has had its ups and downs and I started getting more serious about it during my first couple of years in university where I got into apologetics because of my own doubts. Over time by God's grace, He has drawn me closer than ever before. I have wrestled, kicked, and rebelled in my old self bu...

Ordered 7 Hot Honey sauces for my nuggets. Almost nailed it.

Ordered 7 hot honeys for my 20 piece. They gave me 7 hot mustard and 6 honeys. Almost went back to figure out the thought process but I’d already taken off my boots and I like hot mustard.

Socialist Party USA Stands With Venceremos, Demands Tyson Act on Unjust Immigration Policy

2h ago

In April of 2020 the Trump administration issued an executive order, drafted by lawyers of Tyson Foods, INC in collaboration with Smithfield Foods declaring their operations to remain open at the height of the pandemic, under incredibly dangerous conditions. At that time, the first Trump administration hailed meatpacking workers as heroes - and so they were, as the working class has always been in great times of great need. Workers in the meatpacking industry operated at maximum capacity with increasing processing speeds, while battling rampant COVID-19 infection. Industry giants like Tyson Foods, shirked their responsibility and duties, prioritizing maximized profits over worker safety, cre...

What do these GI symptoms sound like?

26F, 155lbs, hx of GERD and anxiety. marijuana user for a few years. Venlaflaxine 150mg daily. Midwest USA, white. On Jan 20th I had what I thought was a low blood sugar episode, I hadn’t ate a whole lot that day due to being busy and distracted. I got lightheaded, nauseous, pale, sweating. I ate/drank about 60-80g of carbs once the symptoms first started to try and help. It took about 2.5 hours to feel better. The next day I had some nausea, heart burn, body aches, chills/sweats, and diarrhea. This continued for a couple days. On the 23rd I finally went to an urgent care who thought I had a stomach virus and said I would need to let it ride out. Since then my stomach has not gone ba...

The moon is watching me

3h ago

Echoes of the past linger, I wish only for the silence. The man in the door is still haunting me and the man in the moon is still threatening me. His very words are a vitriolic attack on the pillars of American prosperity. I must console my losses and cut them short if I am to continue and be born anew. One must walk the path of fire and agony and become one with the Sandrake to achieve absolution. Strutting straight through **** with a smile is no easy task. This story has been reviewed by 8 separate publishers and each one of them rejected it. They don't want the truth to get out.  I smacked my head up against the wall for the 37th time and walked outside. I was enveloped in a calmin...

Why is eating insects/bugs so taboo in Western countries, even though it's common and tasty in much of the world?

3h ago

I’ve always wondered why in places like the USA, Canada, and parts of Europe, eating insects is seen as gross or weird, while it’s totally normal in many other cultures. I personally come from multiple backgrounds where insects are part of traditional dishes, and I’ve tried them—they taste really good! The first time I had insects, they were in a tomato-based sauce and tasted great. I don’t get why there’s such a strong “yuck” reaction in the West. A few points that confuse me: 1. Over 2 billion people worldwide eat insects regularly. I’d bet more countries eat insects than don’t. 2. I’m afraid of some insects too, but I’d happily eat fried grasshoppers or crickets...

Actorbusters

Because of the success of Rockbusters, I've sort of tweaked it a bit. Clever cryptic clues for actors. The 6th letter of the alphabet wants a fruit made from a precious metal. The initials the initials there are JG. The place where the president of the USA Lives, it should be sort of thicker or heavier or something. That's DW The man put a woman's piece of underwear under his arm. Initials BP It doesn't cost much to hire this restaurant, but they keep overcooking the sea food. That one is LF If you need some tat for a car boot sale, email in.

Food in the USA is better than Europe

5h ago

The access to premium food in the USA is superior to European nations and, arguably, any nation. Let's clarify a few things here, I am talking about premium food ingredients. These are things like high quality pasture raised eggs, grass-fed / finished beef, grass-fed milk, pasture raised chicken, wild-caught seafood, organic tropical fruits, domestic fruits (apples, berries, stonefruit, grapes, etc.), premium gourmet mushrooms, and even access to hunt wild game. The United States is arguably number one in every single one of these categories. Some of them aren't even close. If they are not number one they are number two. There are a few categories where the U...

My parents are from Pakistan and we came to the USA in 2009. My family when they first came here were dirt poor so we moved around a lot and lived off of food stamps for quite some time. Eventually we became financially stable and we settled down Growing up in a desi household as a boy was always traumatizing for me. I never felt safe in my household, especially around my mom who was super abusive towards me and was always mean to me. Between the age of 5 to 16, my mom would always be verbally abusive ...
