But I also want ...3h agoOK I honestly did NOT expect that post to **** up like it did. A few days ago I shared a story about watching a couple at a restaurant in Shenzhen try to order with Translation App. The app turned 金丝肥牛 into "Golden Thread Fat Cow" and they had absolutely no idea what they were looking at. (It's thinly sliced beef in a golden broth, totally normal, totally delicious.) I thought a few people would laugh and move on. One friend pointed out that 肠 can mean both "intestines" and "sausage," which actually gave me a huge lightbulb moment about why simple translation just doesn't cut it for Chinese menus. Another friend shared how they survived an ... How do I submerge myself into Indian culture?3h agoI 25F moved to the USA when I was almost 4 years old and was adopted by a non-Indian family. Most of my life I tried to avoid the Indian topic because I just wanted to fit in. I’ve always lived in predominantly white communities and been the only Indian in the area. My closest relative that is Indian is my aunt however she lives pretty far away and I never really see them. I want to get more in touch with my culture now (please don’t come for me for this, I feel like a fraud for even claiming to be Indian). I want to learn how to cook Indian food, learn about the holidays and symbolisms, learn the culture, outfits, etc but I genuinely don’t know how. I don’t live near anywhere that w... 43/M] France I am an English guy living in France that is seeking s serious relationship I know what I want in Life this...3h agoHi ladies thanks for reading my post you may have seen my previous posts on here I want to say that I am a genuine guy seeking friendship first with a nice sweet woman I am totally genuine I really like women from the USA so if you are an American woman please message me I would love to hear from you. [Discussion] UK to USA shipping advice4h agoMe and my GF are doing a snack exchange, I was wondering if anyone who has sent from the UK to the USA could give me some advise on the customs form for sending the snacks. Do you have to add each food item as a separate item on the customs form or can you put them down as one combined item? It's not super clear on the website. Cheers https://preview.redd.it/7htw8ppsklpg1.png?width=815&format=png&auto=webp&s=a947319bd370260791b2e6cbcb06bcb924f08bf1 Would this Russian-born-and-raised person pass as a convincing average American?4h agoMany of you here expressed reasonable doubts about the capacity of Russians who started learning English in their late teens to become unrecognizable as foreigners. Here is an interesting real-life example that provides some food for thought on this subject: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MBIXfOzbnA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MBIXfOzbnA) This is Olga Galchenko, who at one point was a world-class juggler. She moved from Russia to the USA at 13 - that is, at the very end of the critical period of language acquisition or even slightly past it (especially for girls, who hit puberty earlier). Would you be able to recognize her as a Russian-born-and-raised person, be it on the level of ... I’ve always been a knife guy but never a collector. So at any given moment, I would typically have around 2-3 knives. About ten years ago I went through a stretch of time where I began buying like crazy. Spyderco, benchmade, ZT, etc. I bought several knives over a period of a couple years. My dad was a big knife guy. He was indeed a collector. He would buy knives and display them in a curio he had in his house. When he died, he left part of his collection to me. His knives were mostly pocket knives. Like those knives that typically have 2-3 blades. But he also had some similar to what I have. So now, I have... Bubbles in resin guide7h ago\[This is a post of a guide as I'm taking down my personal website, so that the information is still available for anyone who wants it and can still be linked to from the subs wiki\] # Bubbles in resin Bubbles are the nemesis of all resin crafters- while they can sometimes be used for interesting artistic effects, in most cases they’re just an annoyance that prevents you from making what you intended to. This post will cover both how to avoid bubbles in the first place and how to go about removing the ones that sneak in anyway. # Avoiding bubbles while mixing Most resins will have a small amount of air mixed in already, but you can avoid adding more bubbles with a few simple steps... 26 F4M Looking for something real8h agoHi! So I am a hard working black woman. I am currently in school to become a therapist, but I still work another job to pay the bills as I’m not licensed yet. I need someone who is just as driven as I am, and isn’t afraid of being busy with passion. I am introverted most times but have times where I can definitely be extroverted with the right people. I love trying new foods, traveling, amusement parks, music and so much more. I am on the thicker side. 5’4 around 200 pounds so you’d have to be okay with a lil tummy here and there. I have curly dark brown hair that goes a bit past my shoulders. I have dark brown eyes with plump lips. The most important things to me in a relationshi...
