Latest Comments & Reviews & Feedback & Social Media Sharing of the Toolstation Latest Community Discussions About ToolstationQuote for flat roofs. This is why we're DIY-ing everything2d agoI bought my first house in October and it's just been me and my dad chipping away at it every weekend, buying the big bits every pay day. It's been a while now so I thought I'd get a local roofing company to come in and give me a quote for the conservatory roof and the shed roof as it would save us a lot of time and look nicer sooner... They came in at £4200 for the two roofs in the photo. Is that genuinely what it costs in the north west or is he telling me to get lost? The most expensive roofing kit I found in Wickes was about £500 with the average 2m x 2m one being £200. Even if we bought the fanciest insulation and facias and guttering, we still wouldn't come clo... Replaced undersink pipes need advice please10d agoHi everyone. I'm not a plumber and have never done this before. I took some advice from another post. I have replaced with the mcalpine ska2 kit. Had to improvise a little. We moved into this house one month ago and I promised my wife she could have a dishwasher. The wet patch on the wall was from the first test and is no longer dripping. I noticed that the drainage pipe to the outside is really high. At some point I'll try and sort this along with a repair to the wall as we'll need a new kitchen in a few years time, so it can wait til then The only part that was a little tricky to stop leaking was the Flexi pipe going into the outside drain. Any idea to make this a ... Community garden preparations for dahlias!10d agoI’ve been so lucky to be given a new plot in our community garden in Emsworth. So I can grow about 50/60 dahlias on top of my own back garden. and I’ve popped in a raised bed so I can grow all my fav annuals. Nearly finished and ready to plant for next weekend! Progress so far, double dug the original plot removing nettles and brambles and a few spots of bindweed. Then rotavated and levelled. Weed mat - Toolstation finest. Bark from wickes. £8.50 per 100l right now with a trade account - 10% really good value. Dahlia stakes from b&m. Lots!!. But £2.60 ish for a 1.8m length. Raised bed - decking board from wickes on offer right now for £6 for 2.4m length. Wood posts to se... Bonding agent compatability12d agoA few days ago I repaired the sides of a concrete slab using repair mortar + this bonding agent: KA-Bond SBR https://www.wickes.co.uk/KA-Bond-SBR-Co-Polymer-Bonding-Compound---1L/p/139061 After dabbing this onto the concrete surface, I added it to the repair mortar as well, which has now hardened. I now need to add more layers. The following is the most readily available locally (ka.bobd is out of stock) but is it chemically compatable with the KA? Both sbr, but the former contains PVA. https://www.toolstation.com/sikabond-sbr/p81169 Best way to join sleepers for planters?12d agoHey DIYUK, I'm going to be building a couple of 2 layer planters for my garden, using sleepers. I'm a bit torn on the best way to affix the sleepers to each other, so I'm turning to you guys for advice! Option 1 - Corner spikes such as [these](https://www.toolstation.com/no4714-sleepersecure-double-sleeper-corner-support-spike/p32617?store=B3&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18594123968&gbraid=0AAAAAD-vLcUJAkpmEQTcjT4yWAKR3IhVF&gclid=CjwKCAjw7vzOBhBxEiwAc7WNr7NUEHSL-JQ6QBobVWDmsqxDQa-1TSyuiTRLECxfZIE1NCnIbNBvbRoC5bwQAvD_BwE) with appropriate fixing scr... Can I fit this toilet with a regular connector or would I need a extension?15d agoI already tried a 4" pan connector that was too large for the iron waste hole and can't return it so i know this a long shot just by looking at the picture but does it look like I can successfully make the connection whilst having the cistern flush with the wall? I plan on getting the 3.5" straight connector from toolstation but not sure if I should get an extension piece of some sort aswell. I guess if there is a gap I can bridge it with a piece of trim or something so it wouldn't be too bad but unsure what to do if a regular straight one doesn't work. Would that go to waste aswell?? External Stop ****16d agoMy internal stop **** is seased. I need to turn the water off in the street. Is the circled part what I need to turn? Clockwise? It measures 0.5 inch Can anyone recommend a tool to purchase from screwfix or toolstation that would be suitable? What kitchen tap should I buy? I would really appreciate it if someone could share a link to a similar product from any DIY shop, so I can buy a compatible replacement. My budget is up to £50. Some water is leaking from behind the tap. I tried to unscrew the Phillips head screw, and the two washers inside look intact. I think it's better to replace the whole tap now, alth... Help with TV Unit joints18d agoGood Evening All, So I am in the process of my second DIY furniture project, and debating on the method of connecting my veneered MDF boards. I am looking to use [normal wooden biscuits](https://www.toolstation.com/trend-jointing-biscuit/p59960) to connect each panel at 45 degree angles, as shown in the drawing below. Would this method be strong enough, or should I consider something else? https://preview.redd.it/ay40h3atwgug1.png?width=3308&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9804117dc993b09086b607d62ad5656408c0c1f https://preview.redd.it/mwak63zxwgug1.png?width=1539&format=png&auto=webp&s=6fc16c922f5aecfd5f58cab52a6ba8da1ab5bcd8 How to seal this gap in wall under bath?18d agoSo I was fixing a leak coming from the bath plug to rubber gasket underneath when I also noticed this gap in the wall. It is the wall directly under the bath opposite end to taps. It is about 3 inches wide and just around one side of the bath. There is a conduit cable there as the opposite side of the wall has a plug socket. I would like to fill the gaps so that if the sealant ever failed water would not get into the walls or near the electrics. Was thinking of slow releasing expanding foam: https://www.toolstation.com/soudal-genius-gun-gap-filling-expanding-foam/p15361?store=NR Is this best around cables/potential moisture or should I use something else completely? Advice on plumbing work carried out20d agoHad an emergency plumber come out and fit this, long story short my tanks ended up overflowing and causing damage to my ceilings and walls , I have 2 huge tanks in the loft - had a second opinion plumber come round and tell me no way should this have been installed as it’s for toilets and would not be able to cope with the size of the tanks - can I get some advice please Decking advice20d agoUpdate: thank you all. I have already made my mind about the screws. I flipped the boards to the other side (shallow grooves). I will use the standard screws and will drive them until the head is flush with the surface. **I still appreciate your advice on the last part of my post though (decking oil)- now in bold.** ———— First time building decking. I got the standard decking screws, but their head doesn’t fit into the grooves of the timber boards. Should I force them in to make them flush with the bottom of the grooves? Or should I consider getting other screws? Any suggestions? Would this one work? [https://www.toolstation.com/tongue-tite-plus-stainless-steel-tg-screw/p16647](... Safe Face Masks22d agoHey all - finally getting myself started in dice making, and have been trying to make sure I get the correct PPE before my molds arrive. Was wondering if the above filters in a half face respirator will be sufficient protection? If not does anyone UK-based have recommendations to substitute? Thanks :) Levelling floor22d agoYou will need: \- Levelling primer. I used 2.5 litres for a 30 m² room, found at B&Q. \- Ultimate Leveller L210, 6 bags of 20 kg in my case, from Toolstation. \- A spiked roller, from B&Q. \- Two people. **First step** Apply the primer with an ordinary roller. Let it dry for 1 hour. Apply a second coat and let it dry for 30 minutes. **Next step** This is where you need to be quick, as the leveller dries very fast. Prepare the leveller mix with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Mix thoroughly until it is uniform and free of bubbles. Pour the liquid slowly onto the floor. Use a piece of wood to spread it evenly across the surface. Then use the s...
