Haven’t had a new pair of specs in several years , I remember the discount used to be pretty good , can anyone say weather it’s the same ? Or gotten worse ?

Hi everyone, I’m currently dealing with a situation with Vision Express in Złote Tarasy (Warsaw) and wanted to check if anyone here had something similar. I left my glasses there for lens replacement, and after some time I was informed that they were lost and could not be found. I’ve tried 6 pairs glasses now (exchanged/returned them always so not down any money) and every pair has hurt my left side of my nose, and often also hurt above my right ear. The optometrists just aren’t helpful, I’m buying glasses that they recommend for my face shape, explaining the problems I’ve had, and I get the same problem every time. If I feel my nose it is pretty much symmetrical. The only exception has been the glasses that I had with nose pads, because these hurt both sides of my nose not just my left. im just confused why i got variations in results last time from vision express eye test, in 2023 i had +0.25 sph in right eye and “Plano” in left, in 2024 i had -0.25 sph in right eye and -0.75 in left and then in 2025 i had +0.25 in both eyes. I decide that year to get a secondary opinion in david clulow and got -0.25 in both eyes? why so much variation? I know my right eye is slightly weaker. I’m quite health anxious about my eyes so I do a yearly test so I’m due for one soon. I don’t wear glasses. Getting old, just found out I need reading glasses. I had my eyes tested at Vision Express and they tried to pressure me into buying glasses there and then, which I wasn't prepared to do, I just wondered if anyone can recommend any decent websites or bricks and mortar stores to get them from.

Got an eye test in Vision Express and want to buy the new lenses (€220 cost) but also provide my own glasses to fit them in to. Im told to do this there is a €70 'glazing fee' but if I bought one of their frames in the shop then the fee doesnt apply. Is this practice normal across opticians? It seems like a financial penalty for just wanting to stick to the same frames.

I've been around a bunch of different opticians over the past decade, Boots, Vision Express, Specsavers, a smaller local chain. Sometimes I got glasses following an eye test, sometimes I just bought online. I had generally good experiences from SelectSpecs, but the last pair I got was delivered almost weirdly quick considering my prescription and I believe the glasses may have given me some dizziness.
