Why I Didn't Do It At 30 (Update 2.5 Years Later)

19h ago

I made a post here around 2.5 years ago which is here if you would like more context, you can treat this as an update to this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/SuicideWatch/comments/15rde8d/why\_shouldnt\_i\_do\_it\_at\_30/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SuicideWatch/comments/15rde8d/why_shouldnt_i_do_it_at_30/) I wanted to write an update for my own peace of mind and as a way to define for myself where I am now and what has changed, if anything in this time. So, as the title suggests I didn't end up committing suicide at 30 because I am still here, standing arguably strong at 31, 8 days after my birthday. Surely this means that I'm fully healed and I don't have those type of thoug...

Where can you buy boneless skinless chicken thighs in Stellingen (near Hagenbecks Tierpark Station and around Langenfeld...

1d ago

So, I need specifically the skinless boneless chicken thighs. Also, Bulgogi type meat would be awesome. Sadly, the Edeka at Hagenbecks Tierpark Station doesn’t have a “Fleischtheke”. Also, the Edeka, Lidl and Rewe in that area don’t have Pollo Fino. So, I’ve been wondering, are there good Butchers or Asian Markets with a “Fleischtheke”? Near Grindelhof, I haven’t really been shopping around but I would be happy about an option there. PS: Yes, boneless skinless chicken thighs are a thing outside of Germany. But in Germany they aren’t really popular. And you can’t replace them with chicken ****** since the flavor is completely different.

The EU switches I made or intend to make

3d ago

Some that fell off the bottom, as well as other remarks: * Samsung SmartThings basically just gets used for my washer. If I ever add other things for a smart home, I intend to make sure they work via a custom HomeAssistant instance. * Instead of Apple Notes on my iPad, I now use a notepad application on my 3DS for on-the-go note taking. This application did require custom firmware to be installed, which carries a slim but not zero risk of bricking. For more information visit [https://3ds.hacks.guide](https://3ds.hacks.guide) and r/3dshacks. * I have joined a number of Discord servers and used to run my own at secondary. However I do intend to use Matrix/Element whenever this is possible. * ...

The "Frankenstein" Effect: Why Over-Customizing Your ERP is Killing Your Agility

4d ago

Customizing your ERP or WMS might feel like you’re tailoring a bespoke suit, but in the enterprise software world, over-customization often leads to a "Franken-system" that is difficult to manage and expensive to maintain. While the goal is often to make the software fit your unique business processes, the long-term reality is frequently the opposite: **The system starts dictating how slow your business can move.** Here is why "Vanilla" is becoming the new gold standard for[ERP implementation](https://www.strategiesgroup.com/erp-implementation-challenges-and-risks-a-practical-guide-to-avoiding-costly-pitfalls/): # 1. Cheap protein sources in Espoo or Helsinki for student?

5d ago

Hey everyone, I’m a foreign student living around Helsinki Espoo and I’m trying to eat more protein because it keeps me full longer and helps me stay focused while studying. The problem I just know cheap living by eating \~3-4 euro 3 piece chicken quarters and eggs off the grocery per week I mostly shop in Prisma, Lidl, and S-Market but I honestly don’t know what’s actually cheap per gram of protein here in Finland. Are there any good budget protein sources (meat, dairy, frozen, tofu, beans, etc.) that you recommend? Thanks!

finding a job

7d ago

Hey everyone, I’m an international resident in Berlin and I’ve been actively applying for jobs for weeks now (mostly retail / service / entry-level stuff like supermarkets, stores, cafés, etc.). I apply online almost every day and I’ve sent a lot of applications, but I’m getting mostly rejections or no replies at all. I speak English fluently and German at around B1 level. I have work experience, a clean CV, and I’m available to work immediately. Still, places like supermarkets (Rewe, Lidl, Aldi, etc.) keep rejecting me, even for basic roles. I recently realized that maybe applying only online isn’t enough in Germany, and that people sometimes go in person to introduce themse...

Can I use these to block knitting?

10d ago

Hi all, As the title suggests.... Found these in my local Lidl for €12.99. Hobbie are selling actually blocking mats for €24.99... These ones are foam. Obviously I'll be careful as they're black, incase dye runs off. But are they a suitable alternative? Also can I just use normal sewing pins or need something else? Any other advice for blocking greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance 😊

living near the college town square expenses guide

10d ago

hey yall, i figured i'd share some actual numbers and thoughts on living right by the university square or downtown area. it's super convenient but honestly, the convenience comes with a huge price tag, especially compared to even just a few blocks out. the biggest hit is rent, obviously. for a one-bedroom or even a single room in a shared apartment right on the square, you're looking at the high end. think closer to $1200 to $2000 per person in a lot of places, and sometimes way more in a place like philly or a big city college area. if you split a two-bedroom with roommates, you can sometimes get that down to $800 to $1300 per person, but it really depends on the ...

Sword scabbard

11d ago

Hi all I'm working on my first leather project. I want to cover a scabbard I made with leather and butt stitch where the leather meets. So far I have cut a pattern using the masking tape method, transferred it to kraft paper, added 3mm on each side to account for thickness. Transferred this to leather and cut this out. Naturally, I have a lot of questions: Do I need to soak/wet the leather? How to I start the stitch at the tip of the scabbard? I will eventually create a chape to cover the tip but I still need to know how to start the stitch. Can i use wood glue or contact adhesive or do I need to buy some other adhesive? I assume I will glue on side of the scabbard before I begin s...

cheapest grocery stores for city living

11d ago

hey everyone, i figured i'd share some tips on finding the cheapest groceries in a city because those apartment rent prices make every other expense feel huge. it can be a real pain point, especially since a lot of the best deals are at stores that are a bit outside the central hub or have tiny, nightmare parking lots. for the bigger trips where you have to drive, a huge hack i use is not even stressing about the store's parking. if the lot is full and chaotic, just use the prked app to find someones unused driveway or garage a block or two away. it's usually way cheaper than a parking garage, you feel safer leaving your car on someones property, and it makes the wh...

Cozy little salmon, avocado and veggie plate for dinner

12d ago

I didn’t count the 2g of orange sauce and seasoning since it would have been less than 5 cals. I guess I didn’t really need to count the peppers, but I was in the zone with the food scale 😅. Small plates help meals feel so much fancier and fuller! This was around 325 cals. I also use a wok with a steamer tray and it’s great for reducing cooking oil!

Feeling blessed

12d ago

My Whole Foods is only 10 minutes away and the shelf is fully stocked. I am no longer buying two bottles every time I see it available! I currently have one bottle partly used, one bottle in reserve, and took one to my daughter when we visited, since none of the stores near her had it in stock.

Longread: pros and cons of living in Finland after almost 10 years

14d ago

Topic of "what is good/bad in living in Finland" is usually of interest and made me think of sharing my personal experience as an immigrant who relocated almost 10 years ago, through work, lived within capital area, learnt Finnish, got citizenship and tried their best to adapt. Disclaimer: 1) This is not a post to tell you Finland is good or bad. There is no perfect country, all people are different and what's best for one is bad for another. The aim of this post is to share things I've learnt through these years, which may help you do your own research and make your own conclusion. 2) Points like high unemployment/current government/poor economic situation will not be...

Saw some really cheap fruit/vegetable at open air markets, any catch ?

16d ago

Excuse me for my ignorance as I’m quite new to London Places like Deptford or Lewisham or queens market, the fruit and vegetable are sooooooo much cheaper than what I usually see in Lidl/aldi. Wonder if there’s any catch to these cheap food ( like chemicals or pesticides that make them this cheap?)
