Hi all, been doing some perusing around the John Lewis and saw these three air fryers on sale/ reduced. Would you recommend getting any of these models, or should I hold out for a Black Friday and potentially get some better models on discount?

Is John Lewis quietly abandoning "never knowingly undersold"?

5d ago

I'm getting the impression that more often John Lewis is both not doing price matching anymore and undoing price matching they have previously done. For example, up until yesterday price matches were on som JL products I was looking at, e.g. this Tan-Luxe was £28.80 and BabyBjorn was £184.90 on JL, both marked as "Price matched", but since early this morning many JL prices have reverted, JL have (presumably knowingly) removed these price matches, while both have maintained stock availability and sale price on Boots and Mamas&Papas. Another quirk... I called JL and the poor gentleman struggled to disagree with me that it's odd the JL website says this: "A...

Are double poles for curtains not a thing in the UK?

5d ago

As the title says. I have been looking around for double curtain poles - or poles that would fit together but cannot find any in the local furniture stores (e.g. Dunelm, John Lewis to name a few). The only place I could find some were online. However, I would prefer to buy a pair in person because that way I can see whether they are sturdy or not. Where to find double curtain poles in person and which stores? Or if that is impossible to do in the UK, then what else is popular and can be good for a budget? Edit: To help clarifying what I'm looking for. Link to what I want but with a bit more style: https://www.curtains4australia.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/9df78eab...

Demolish this Block on Oxford Street, and you solve Pedestrianisation

5d ago

Opposite John Lewis there is a block of properties with a footprint large enough that it could be turned into a proper pedestrian zone. You could have your benefits of the Pedestrian Zone across the whole street, without the need to re-route buses, or engage with NIMBYs, simply buy the block, move the retailers, and pave it. Stick in as many street performers, musicians, benches, etc as you like.

We have £180 in John Lewis Vouchers, what do we spend them on?

8d ago

May I start with the closest John Lewis store is 2 hours 10 mins drive away in Cardiff. The only thing we really want is a Weber BBQ "Master-Touch E-5750" and they are selling them for £289, seems good, spend £110 on a decent BBQ. Get it delivered, feels like money well spent. But wait.... It's £20 to get the BBQ delivered. I look online to shop around and BBQ world are selling the same BBQ for £219 delivered next working day. So £90 saving, but can't spend the voucher. Would love advice on what you would do in our situation. Whether that's what to do about the BBQ, or suggestions for alternatives to buy from John Lewis thats actually worth the money. Also an...

Gift for a Muslim woman in my team for high performance at work

10d ago

Hi all, Someone on my team is receiving an award next week for high performance in our department. She is a Muslim who wears a hijab. She is also pregnant but I'm keen not to make the gift focussed on this - id like it to be for her and not for the baby, as she will be getting baby gifts when she goes on mat leave, and not everyone at work is aware yet. This also sometimes makes her ill and she eats very healthily, so chocolate is not an option. Unfortunately when I ask about her weekend she usually mentions she was just relaxing or seeing friends, so I'm not aware of any clear hobby. I do know that she misses Egypt in terms of weather and family. I have considered: \-A vouc...

U.K. stock appears to be running low

12d ago

I’m looking at a new HomePod and been looking at quite a few retailers such as Argos, Currys and John Lewis all seem to be running incredibly low or even out of units. Quite often these stores have stock but nothing and not even “more coming soon” message I presume this means we’re in for a refresh sooner rather than later?

Where to buy from in the UK

12d ago

New to the sub so apologies if this is a frequently asked question (it doesn't appear to be from my search, and not recently at least anyway). I'm UK based looking to purchase an F-91W, but wondering where in the UK you can actually buy from. I have checked Casio's store checker and it seems H Samuels, F Hinds and John Lewis are the main ones that pop up, none of which have the models I'm after. I recently bought an a158 and got it from Argos, and they have the blue trimmed OG which I will likely purchase shortly. However, my preference is the green trimmed version, but I cannot find anywhere reputable that sells it. I can see it on Amazon but I'm sceptical to buy...

Black voters say Alabama is repeating history in redistricting fight: ‘The racism is real’

13d ago

Pebblin Warren had to go to court when she was 13 for speaking back to a white man. The Alabama state representative, whose district includes Tuskegee, is among many Black Democrats in the legislature who have personal experience with Jim Crow policies in the South. They gathered in Montgomery as Republicans [pushed forward a plan to change future elections](https://www.al.com/news/2026/05/alabamas-special-session-to-change-elections-voting-starts-today-what-happens-next.html). And they called on that experience to describe what they see as both the gravity of the situation and the importance of action. “I’ve been out here a long time,” she said. “These are complicated situations...

Help me decide a colour!

16d ago

Hi all, not even joking but spent 5 days and hours of checking different Apple stores to compare colours, I just can't decide! That's the only barrier right now before I get a Macbook Air 13. Thoughts so far: \- Midnight feels great in a 'not in your face' mac, makes people get a double glance to verify I imagine. Feels amazing in the hand like a slab of premium magic, the green charger blink on dark looks great. It's just.. TOO dark and obviously a fingerprint magnet. Scruffs also show very clearly. Using it is nice, full black with screen only to focus on. \- Starlight feels very premium. As a Londoner I appreciate the warm tone and it looks expensive lying a...
