Shiny new pickups

1d ago

I'm a bit giddy right now. Just picked these two up! Had been sitting on a £175 birthday gift card for a few months now and saw John Lewis were doing a 15% price match offer, so figured it was the right time. Went in for **Creed Aventus** and **Absolu Aventus**, but they told me Absolu wouldn’t be back in stock until June. Ended up grabbing Aventus 100ml in store - paid £88.50 after the gift card. Lady at the counter also threw in three 2ml samples - Absolu Aventus, Aventus Cologne, and the new Wild Vetiver. Then checked online and found Absolu Aventus 100ml on Cult Beauty for £304. Searched online for a code and found one that actually worked and knocked another £30.40 off. O...

Has anyone used a specialist boutique for Mother of the Bride outfits in London? Worth it vs department stores?

3d ago

Planning a wedding for summer and my mum is already stressing about her outfit. She's been to M&S and John Lewis but nothing feels special enough for the occasion. Someone suggested trying a specialist boutique rather than a department store , apparently the personalised service makes a huge difference. Has anyone had experience with this? We're based in South East London so I've been looking at places like Le Chic Boutique in Bromley (lechicboutique.co.uk) they seem to carry designers like John Charles, Rosa Clara and Condici which you don't see everywhere. Any advice from brides or MOBs who've been through this would be really appreciated!

An odd one - pokemon botting

5d ago

I’ve been seeing this alot online lately and just curious surely it’s illegal. From the snippets I’ve seen it seems people are mass making Amazon accounts to request invites to pokemon products then ofcourse buying them. Ofcourse this heavily against ToS but I also am fairly sure it’s fraud by missrep/falserep as they are knowingly bypassing order limits by using fake names on accounts (which Amazon allows). So then why are the posting online about it and it seems to be on a big scale especially this ‘ccn’ company. Same goes for online orders on PKC and stores like John Lewis ordering with their cards and slightly altered addresses but random names. Thank you in my oppinion poss...

What UK companies/shops do you feel have declined in recent years?

6d ago

it could be a symptom of the effects of the pandemic, but for me a candidate is John Lewis - I used to shop there because they had superb customer service but recent experiences over the last 12 months have not been as pleasant. \- luggage arrived that was all scratched and beat up. I filed a complaint and received a different complaints handler each time who did not seem to understand how to actually handle a complaint. They offered a gift card as a refund and it took me time and effort to get a refund back to my original payment method! \- Next Day Delivery is almost disingenuous now as it is almost never next day delivery. When I tried to get them to refund me the delivery fee, the best...

GiftPlan.io — A gift registry that isn’t one shop’s catalogue (or your bank details)

7d ago

I built [SeatPlan.io](https://SeatPlan.io) to fix wedding seating charts ([posted about it here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1qt1jk9/seatplanio_what_i_built_to_do_my_wedding_seating/)). The gift list was the next thing that drove me mad. I didn't want to send guests a bank sort code. I didn't love being locked to one department store's catalogue. And I didn't want a £500 item to be all-or-nothing when five people would happily chip in £100 each. [GiftPlan.io](https://GiftPlan.io) is what came out of that. You paste any product URL — Amazon, John Lewis, a random Etsy shop — and we pull the title, image, and price. Guests contribute any amount towa...

real or fake?

So I bought my first jellycat in september of 2025 in the john lewis store which is a well known company that sells items from a range of different shops. I loved my jellycat and thought nothing of it until I bought my sister one for christmas online from selfridges. I've noticed some vast differences in the two jellycats. Firstly the fur on mine (the one on the right of the pictures) is a bit more harsh and not as soft. I thought this was because i'd had it longer but it's only a few months in between me buying the two. Another one is the tail looks different. The stuffing is different mine is a lot more slimmer despite them both being medium sizes. The tags are also differen...

John Lewis Le Creuset sale

9d ago

John Lewis has some great discounts on Le Creuset from today. They seem to have 20-40% off cast iron pieces with 20% off the shell pink and blue bell braiser. I noticed a few Deep Teal cast iron pieces at 40% discount. Stoneware and stainless steel cookware are all also discounted. Well worth a look for anyone on the lookout for specific pieces. Edit: John Lewis is a large, UK store.

Ecommerce to UK Retailers

12d ago

hi, i have a product that is selling very well on Amazon. We designed, branded and improved this product (car security) since 2021. We are now considering exploring the usual retail stores route like Halfords, B&M or even high-end Selfridges or John Lewis. I appreciate the high margins these retailers require however, is it something worth considering? Our product is in the range of £40-£50 and our margin is around 65%. Any advice?

What's the Canadian equivalent of John Lewis in the UK?

17d ago

I've got a friend moving to Canada (not sure where) and I would like to buy them vouchers for a home store in Canada that's kind of like John Lewis in the UK. Somewhere they can go and buy things for their new home from. TIA
