Took my credit from 507 → 696 in ~7 months. Need advice on next steps (AMEX & Apple Card goals)

2d ago

For the last 5 years I honestly didn’t care about credit at all. In May of this year I finally locked in and started taking it seriously. It’s now December and I’ve been able to raise my score from 507 to 696. I went through my credit reports, disputed and removed most negative items, and cleaned up what I could. Current situation: • Navy Federal secured card was charged off (only $150 balance). I settled for $52 and it’s now $0. • Discover card (had it ~3 years): I was late Sept–Dec 2024 and Jan 2025. Let it go too long, but I saved it last minute, paid the balance in full. It’s currently restricted but I’m waiting for Discover to reinstate it. • Auto loan from Toyo...

Need help for my storage room

3d ago

Dear Community, I have a small storage room and I’m not sure how to set it up in the best way. The large white block is a water heater. I need storage space for a vacuum cleaner, small items, a mop, and cleaning supplies. Is there any way to do it space efficiently? A few miles away there is an IKEA Store, this would be ideally. And I have some handy skills, so if some custom parts would fit let me know. The width is **89 cm** (**2.92 ft**) The depth is **173 cm** (**5.68 ft**) The height is **258 cm** (**8.46 ft**) Thank you in advance :)

How can I cash out my $670 IKEA store credit?

4d ago

Hi everyone, I’ve got **$670.88 in IKEA store credit** that I don’t need, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to turn it into cash. I know IKEA doesn’t give cash back on store credit, so I’m wondering what realistic options people have used. Is it better to: * Sell the store credit/gift card at a slight discount? * Buy high-demand IKEA items (like Alex drawers, Billy bookcases, etc.) and resell them on Facebook Marketplace? * Or is there any other method that actually works in Canada? If you’ve done this before, what’s the safest and quickest way to get cash for it? **PS:** I really need the cash, so any practical suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone of you know if those IKEA items could already be bought in like 2017-2018?

4d ago

Context: my parents don’t like Ikea and for years said that it’s bad quality and actually never went there in their life as far as I know (my dad for sure, my mom I don’t remember if she ever went but I don’t remember). So for years growing up I internalized this at home and never went there myself. More than a year ago, in my mid twenties, I went there to buy some things and now I regret I did not go to IKEA way before. So I was wondering, do you know if those items were already available/sold in IKEA stores around 2017-2018 when I started university (I’m from Europe)? I’m trying to imagine how things could have been different, or if those items actually did not exist and only e...

IKEA MYGGSPRAY MoT Wireless Motion Sensor works with HA

10d ago

I was in need of a motion sensor and saw that IKEA just released their new Matter-over-Thread devices so I went and picked up 2 of them for a test. Just paired them with home assistant and can confirm they work well with HA. I don't know how reliable they are since they're brand new but if they are, I'll be picking up more of them. They're US$9.99 each in my local IKEA store. Very affordable.

Simeon Brown has no self-awareness

11d ago

In 1 News' corporate slavish coverage of the Ikea store opening last night, they cut to Simeon Brown getting a piece of cinnamon roll. Simeon, grinning like an overcompensating year 8 nerd says to camera "I like to call them... Simeon rolls". How can someone be so blissfully unaware they're a >!walking micro-*****!<?

Migrating from Tradfri bridge to Driggera with Zigbee plugs was made my smart home experience terrible, will new Matter ...

11d ago

I've had Ikea Tradfri bridge along with some bulbs and switches since 2019 and it was great addon to my Homekit setup. It was super reliable, basically maintenance-free solution. But recently I Wanted to migrate to new Driggera hub because I knew tradfri along with that OG ikea smart home app was already a legacy thing. Also I couldn't find Tradfri plugs anymore, so I went for for it. But ever since I configured everything, my experience is totally awful, Bulbs and plugs are becoming randomly offline, I'm having troubles with pairing accessories, It takes like 3 or 4 attempts until bridge will find any device in pairing mode, even if they are like 3 meters away from...

Any IKEA first impressions?

11d ago

I’m in Wellington but quite keen to hear the experience of fellow Kiwis who flocked the new IKEA store in Sylvia Park today? From the prices on their app, seems like many traditional retailers will have a hard time. Personally, I have owned many IKEA furniture in the past snd looking forwards to shop again.
