So in 2024, I retired my Puma Deviate Nitro 2 from road duty after picking up the Adidas Evo SL. I was peer pressured to join a trail run event so I took the Pumas out on the trail and they were incredible! Especially on wet rock where my old Nike Wildhorse 6 used to slide everywhere. I even got second place in an event due to how well it transition from road to trail. I assume the outsole compound is just that much better than Nike's trail rubber even without deep lugs and the plate in the Nitro probably acts like a rock plate. I run mainly trails and currently using Hoka Mafate Speed 4. However, it gets a bit tiring to run often on the trails plus the sole can get too stiff for everyday use. I am looking at getting a softer road shoe where I can use for recovery running on the roads when I am not on the trails, but still involving a good amount of uphill and downhills as I would still like to build my trail running fitness. Hi everyone, as a Superstar XLG owner, I'm unfortunately unable to find the black version. I'm very happy with this shoe. I like chunky shoes. The brown sole of the Samba XLG makes the black shoe look a bit strange. I'm looking for a shoe to wear with my black Adidas SST tracksuit and generally with jeans.
