How much do buyers care about period-sensitive remodeling vs trendy?3h agoWe are looking to buy a home built in the mid-50s that is a modest ranch but retains some mid-century style architecturally. It needs a lot of cosmetic repairs/remodeling (bathroom tiles, sinks & vanities, kitchen updates, cheap paneling replaced, etc). We plan to sell and move in 5-8 years. On home selling sites I see a lot of all-white or gray kitchens and baths, vinyl plank flooring, ooen shelves, and everything just looks stark and neutral with no character, even in older homes. Everything looks blank like a Home Depot store. I'd like to lean into the mid-century vibe without going overboard - sort of a contemporary spin on the aesthetic by refinishing hardwood floors an... Does anybody else remember eating the free popcorn at Ernst Home Centers?11h ago[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst\_Home\_Centers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Home_Centers) This store was like The Home Depot, but they filed for bankruptcy in 1996 and liquidated in 1997. Before the stores disappeared, I'm old enough to remember my mom taking me to one of these stores and eating the free popcorn from the machine at the entrance. I can't imagine such a business model thriving in the year 2025. Does anybody remember where exactly this store was, and what's there now? In other words, where is it located? Similarly, I remember a hardware store called Eagle at 11959 Northup Way in Bellevue. You could see the logo while driving by it on SR-520. It was... Gozney Roccbox @ Home Depot, $250 in-house ONLY!11h ago12/3/25 Was shopping at my local Home Depot in Reno, Nevada tonight, and almost fell into my shopping cart. There were **SEVEN brand new Gozny Roccboxs with no price listed.** It is the Tom Gozney Signature edition, which has a bit of a nicer finish and a very nice black Gozney peel. + they make a charitable contribution of some sort. Having heard of this deal before, (and figured I missed it as usual), I checked their web site on my phone, and sure enough....**$250 + tax**. Looked up a few other HD locations in Reno and they all had stock at this price, again, in store only. Last week the Roccbox was listed as sold out on their web site. If you are in the market, i suggest going to a HD... Looking for recommendations on where to shop for carpet stair treads (not full runner)14h agoI've already looked at Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, and Walmart, and Bed Bath & Beyond and not happy with their offerings. Are there any good stores I can check out for these? Online, local, whatever. Looking for something specifically with soft pile like an actual carpet texture, most options I've seen are more like woven wool or just crappy thin material. And willing to pay more if it's good quality or from a non-corporate giant Gozney Roccbox @ Home Depot, $250 in-house ONLY!14h agoWas shopping at my local Home Depot in Reno, Nevada tonight, and almost fell into my shopping cart. This happens to me more than it should! How do they not have a better online inventory? I do woodworking and use my Dremel for power carving, and my main Dremel died on me two weeks ago. So I was really excited to ditch the cord and go cordless when I saw the Black Friday sale. Earlier today I saw it would be shipped to my store tomorrow, and tonight I got this. The worst part is I check for the brushless rotary tool every time I go into the store, and I’ve never seen it in stock, only the brushed. Now I can’t even get it online either! Really disappointed. Christmas Tree Recommendations17h agoI am planning on purchasing a real Christmas tree for the first time in years this weekend and am looking for a local nursery or other store in the area you would recommend. I am not really interested in buying something from Lowe’s or Home Depot and would prefer something quality from a local business. Any suggestions are appreciated! Be honest… is this Buy More Save More stack insane or just HD marketing tricks?20h agoJust bought my first house and the appliances in it were nasty and super old. I jumped on Home Depot’s Buy More Save More during Black Friday and somehow the discounts stacked way harder than I expected. Final total for everything (delivery + cords included): $961.39 after tax. I don’t even plan to use the dishwasher it was literally cheaper to keep it in the cart than remove it, so I’ll probably flip it on FB and make some of the money back. I’m not expecting these appliances to last forever or compete with high-end brands, but honestly… for under a grand this feels kinda crazy. Pics attached what do you guys think? Actual W or just Home Depot Jedi mind tricks with the “yo... #1 Brittlebush (Encelia farinosa) - The Arizona Native Plant Catalogue20h agoTo launch our catalogue of Arizona’s native plants, I can’t think of a better start than one of our state’s most widespread - yet somehow still overlooked species. # Description ***Encelia farinosa***, commonly known as the brittlebush, is an evergreen perennial shrub that dominates much of Arizona below 3,500 feet. From the bone-dry sand flats southwest of Yuma to the subtropical Arizona Upland, few plants are as perfectly adapted to the Sonoran Desert as this one. Uber eats delivery is ruined for drivers20h agoI have been on the app for about 45 minutes and have seen at least 5 different offers of 3+ Walmart drops for <10$ all over 15 miles and I think they don’t let customers tip on store orders or Lowe’s/Home Depot orders I never see those above 3$ also there are orders for car parts that are always cheap and far and every single Apple offer I receive is over 20 miles and stacked not to mention when they give you requests and you immediately accept it is rare that you actually get the order it usually says loading then all requests are taken. Doordash isn’t any better though as you can only dash whenever you want if you’re platinum but it feels like 90% of offers aren’t even pro... How much does a bathtub/shower combo replacement cost these days in 2025?20h ago1 800 Call Hanson's quoted a bathtub/shower replacement for $14,000. And with the discounts, the final price was $11,000. They use acrylic materials. Would that be considered a good price? Should I call another contractor? Should I call a handyman or Lowes or Home Depot? Who would give me a better deal, a big box store, local contractor or a handy man? I don't have a lot of knowledge of renovation projects. ICE makes first arrests in NOLA 😡21h agoImmigrant rights groups and eyewitnesses said that federal agents made immigration arrests Wednesday at a handful of large home-building stores in the New Orleans region, as the Trump administration launches a sweeping enforcement operation across south Louisiana. According to social media posts, New Orleans-based advocacy group, Union Migrante, said federal agents had performed arrests at four large homebuilding stores: Lowe’s locations on Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans and Veterans Boulevard in Metairie, and Home Depot locations in LaPlace and Gretna. Spokespeople for Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to requests to confirm tha... vanishing without a trace21h agoBeen working at Home Depot as Lot Attendant for five years one month and counting. 17 miles away from my house. Quality of RTA Kitchen Cabinets from Denver-area Stores1d agoWe are fully renovating our kitchen, and I am looking for opinions on price and quality for Denver-area RTA cabinet stores. I would like to buy cabinets locally rather than online or Home Depot. Buy & Build quoted cabinets at $4K more than HD American Woodmark and $7K under a "discount" store. Also looking at Denver Cabinet Express and Factory2U but I haven't gotten a quote from them yet. Any opinions on those stores or other recommendations for RTA stores in the Denver area? ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
