Recently bought a 5 acre wood property in the PNW. I don't live within driving distance so will be flying there. Eventually will be building a garage / cabin / house etc since there is power and water available at the road. However, I'd like to visit the property and stay / camp for week long periods over the next year as I work on the land, clear brush, survey and figure out the plan. I am living in San Diego, aged 32. Still living with my dad. I graduated college in 2019 with a film degree. The only work experience is working full-time as a remote video editor for an LLC from 2023 and am still working for the company. We just bought a brand new Frigidaire Gallery fridge and it hasn’t worked prooerly. Getting ready to store the truck camper for the winter and last year I found mouse droppings in the cabinets when I pulled it out in spring. Luckily no chewed wires but I know I got lucky. This year I want to be proactive. Thinking about stuffing steel wool in every gap I can find, placing some peppermint pouches inside (I bought the bugmd vamoose ones from home depot), and putting snap traps under the camper as monitoring. What does everyone else do for rodent prevention during storage? I've heard everything from moth balls to dryer sheets to electronic repellers and I honestly don't know what's gimmick and what's legit.
