I'm working on a garage work bench top. The material is Hevea Solid Wood Butcher Block Countertop (hampton bays from home depot). It was sanded to 220grit, then treated with minwax conditioner, stained minwax special walnut and topped with Minwax oil based polyurethane. I'm using a Yatchsman flat brush from Ace Hardware. The first 3 coats went on great. 24hr dry time between each in a temp controlled garage. I am cleaning the brush with mineral spirts between uses and storing the brush wrapped in tinfoil with a couple drops of mineral spirits in it to ensure it doesn't get hard. Recently purchased one of these DWX726 stands with some Home Depot gift cards I got over Christmas. One of the selling features, listed directly on the Dewalt website, is the vertical storage. However, in the manual, it specifically says store it horizontally, as storing it vertically may risk a tipping hazard. Just thought that was funny. And tipping hazard or not, I need the space, so vertical it is.

This is an artificial Christmas tree, the Noble fir from CA Backyard. The lights quit after a few years, so we removed most of them and have been lighting it with strings of lights from Home Depot. The photos I posted don't really do it justice, it's a very natural looking tree. We're giving it away because we bought a smaller tree that is easier to store and decorate. Remember, NO LIGHTS. And no, we're unable to deliver it. And, WOO-HOO, I'm finally first at something!!

Hey all, I built these shelves over the past couple of weeks. I had initially wanted to buy a modular shelving set from a Swedish furniture store that would have cost over $300. Put these together for just under $100. Wood is common Home Depot pine boards and 2x2s. Used poplar dowels for the shelf supports. I learned that hogging out mortises with a jigsaw and oscillator is doable, but if I ever do this again I'm buying myself a router. If you zoom in you can see the gaps I tried to fill in with sawdust and wood glue (do not recommend). Shout out to my friends who helped get my butt off the couch and actually start this project, helped sand and install, and overall keep me sane. ✌️

I’ve been watching HGTV for over 10 years so I understand renovations from that perspective. However, my husband and I will be buying a home soon and need to do renovations. How does that work in the real world? I find a contractor and they have a designer on staff who will show me samples of counters/flooring etc. Or do I need to go to a big home improvement store like Home Depot and pick out everything and then what happens?

In general, how do I find a good (or least bad) corporation to buy products from? I want to avoid buying from Amazon, Target, Walmart, or Home Depot (in order of my estimate of their decreasing evil). When it was first showed to me I loved the atmosphere and presentation of the place. I was really giddy to have the Glendale store near by as I’m frequently doing home projects. Just got my truck back after having the Cam Phasers done under a 3rd party warranty. Also had the rear diff rebuilt and the oil pan done. 126k on the truck.
