I’m getting my first small vegetable garden going. I am looking forward to enjoying this new hobby and have spent months learning and preparing as I know there’s many facets to consider to have a successful garden. Where do yall get soil? I need good soil/compost for raised beds and I would much prefer a local business rather than a big box store like Lowe’s or Home Depot. I know this part might be a stretch, but I prefer to support folks who aren’t maga, but I know that can be few and far between in this area. Also happy to hear of any places that have good starter plants for transplant… I know there are some at the farmers market sometimes. Thanks for any recommendations!

As you may know, Home Depot is reducing the number of stores that will carry XGT power tools in-store and has put them on clearance. This is the first drop in prices from the clearance prices that went up at the start of April. At least at stores near me the selection is getting **very** thin if you're waiting for additional price drops which **will** be coming ***if*** they have any left.

Home depot has some listed, but their filtering doesn't allow me to specific 76 inches, so I have to filter by 60 inches and go through hundreds. Are there any other shower door specialty stores that likely have a decent selection of 76-inch wides?

Wasn't sure if it would be better to use question or troubleshoot for flair. Bought this from a Home Depot store on 5 March 2026. This is the first mower I've owned in 15 years since I didn't have a yard until now. I liked that I don't have to mess with gas, etc, and the mower did a good job the first four times. Today was the 5th time I've used it. My guess is I mow about 1/3rd of an acre (1/2 acre lot with house, driveway, landscape, hardscape, and garden I'm assuming about covers the difference). So I called Rheem because my water heater failed early. It was a total replacement. Need to vent! I know I’m not the only one who feels overworked and undervalued. For context, I work in specialty at a high volume store. I was the sole employee in my department for around 7 months and can’t keep up with the insane amount of work that has piled up for me. I will keep this brief and fast. I moved to apartment recently. Apartment sometimes has German roaches, occasional one every few days. Usually nymph or adult with messed up wings, probably from IGR being sprayed somewhere. Today, roach problem is bad. I found 7 nymphs this morning. Killed them all with bleach or other cleaning sprays, flushed corpses. This is the most I have seen in one day, assuming an ootheca was dropped in apartment and hatched. Currently I have a jug of Ortho indoor insect barrier. I haven’t used it yet. Should I use it? I have heard mixed things about its effectiveness, and I don’t want to sabotage myself here. My old hose was leaking, so I replaced it. Both Home Depot and Lowe’s only carried the Moen 202750 pull down hose. The moen hose didn’t fit my Pfister adapter. I couldn’t find any good information online for what adapter to use and the hardware stores didn’t have any. I ordered a Moen 136101 adapter. The Moen hose and my water line both fit the same side but not the other side. What do I use to connect these two?

I keep reading not to buy from a big box store. How do I find reputable non-big box stores? In my google searches of local stores there seems to be a lot of cheap stuff like ZLINE, which is repeatedly not recommended here. Also, is Ferguson considered big box? They sell the progressional style and luxury brands around here. Is Costco considered big box in the same way as Home Depot and Lowe’s?
