In Noem, the department finally has a leader cruel and campy enough to match its stated mission.** **By Melissa Gira Grant | The New Republic** https://preview.redd.it/bsvk0yukf9ag1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=fe9b1009d382ca52a14a7e833ba247f3eab17565 [Illustration by Lauren Kolesinskas](https://preview.redd.it/87ajh3m9f9ag1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=98be6c9a80bd82842d756faed3b3ec6c7c927a3c) Before the 2024 election, the idea that Kristi Noem would someday head the ... Sterling Tub3h agoAnyone ever install a sterling tub from Home Depot? Trying to redo my bathroom on the cheaper end and looking for a tub and surround that’s not going to break the bank. Looks like most of the bad reviews are just about shipping damage. If you need to be supervised for practice driving by your parent/guardian before getting your license, how are you able ...4h agoOkay, I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this, but please let me know. I'm a 22F and I live in Georgia, US. I've been looking into getting employed and moving out into a roommate-type situation within the next 12-16 months. Obviously, I'm going to need transportation if I want to be able to go to certain stores such as Walmart, Dollar Tree, or Home Depot, or if I need to head to a clinic or emergency vet (I want to adopt a stray). Plus, without transportation, I would have a hard time going to church or going anywhere more than a mile out. This could also make meeting with potential roommates incredibly difficult unless they have reliable transportation. O... Trimmer blower combo4h agoFarm and Fleet is selling the quick lock trimmer, blower, and 8.0 forge for $400. Been wanting to upgrade my yard tools to Milwaukee for ahwile. Is this a good deal? Home Depot is $500 for the same combo. Home Depot5h agoI went to browse the plants as I always do while my husband looks for stuff I don’t care about. Y’all…. Home Depot has to have the absolute worst quality of plants I have ever seen. They were like 80% dead. Brown and crusty and drier than the desert. Weird stuff planted together too. Meanwhile, I bought a beautiful snake plant from Lowe’s last week which was actually my first box store purchase. Anyways, that’s all. Support your local nurseries!!! Retail workers: How prevalent is theft in your store? What does store do about it?5h agoWhile holiday shopping this year at retail stores in Louisville, I noticed a ton of people just lurking and not actively shopping. The number of employees at Best Buy St. Matthews hovering over the crowd while registers sat empty made me feel like I was a teenager in the Churchill Downs infield, underage drinking while cops looked for the kid in khakis to pull out a water bottle of KG. Maybe I’m overthinking it… but it seems like a lot of retail theft is happening. Like, a lot. I’m curious what retail employees in Louisville are seeing. Do you know it’s happening and are trained not to act? Do the cameras paired with AI actually help track repeat offenders? Home Depot had the same... Whatever you do don’t go to Home Depot again7h agoThere was this girl named Sofia who used to visit Home Depot frequently because her father was a construction worker. One night Sofia and her dad were going right before it closed. Sofia had been accidentally forgotten at the store and all the employees seemed to have vanished from the store. Leaving her with a few options she tried to use the store phone to call the police but the phone was off due to the store being closed. She grabbed a pack of batteries and a flashlight so she could see in the store. One of the first things she saw was words written in a red liquid she couldn’t decide what it was. The words were “Come play with me bestie.” So she went where the drips of red (sh... Bad Home Depot installed services experience & promised repairs never happened. Advice?8h agoWe did a home renovation project through Home Depot and financed it (about $30k). During the sales process, we were told that if anything was damaged or done incorrectly, it would be fixed. Unfortunately, the workmanship was poor and there was damage caused during the install. We documented everything and escalated to the manager in charge of installed services. We were told repairs would be sent out. That was months ago, and we never heard back. We are stuck with a large balance for work that was acknowledged as needing repair and never resolved. For anyone who’s had similar experiences: • Did Home Depot actually follow through for you? • Were you able to get repairs, a partial r... Air Hammer. Which would you choose? SnapOn, Matco, Ingersoll Rand , Aircat, Astro -Thor?9h agoTorque test channel tested these air hammers and (given some of them work for Astro), they ranking ended up bein Astro Thor, Matco, Snap On, Aircat, Ingersoll Rand. https://youtu.be/J98ZbUmPxqU?si=-7sF1GqZ2_J_N-5r Any of you have any strong opinions? I have an expiring Snap-On membership on 12/31, where the $315 price would go away....where as my matco discount pricing doesnt expire until end of next year at $288. Pricing except for the Astro Thor is about the same. $315, $288, $258, $318, and $110 I am a bit surprised to learn the Aircat is $318 at Home Depot. I thought it was supposed to be a discount brand similarly priced to the Astro Thor. Can anyone tell me the name of this type of lock?10h agoHello there, So, I came back home from a trip and the lock cylinder was broken (maybe a cold snap, attempt entering?, who knows!) of my front door. I went to home depot and other local hardware store and they do not carry that specific type of lock. I wanted to buy just the cylinder but it seems improbable that I can find that alone, so fine, I'll get a new lock system, but I don't know how to call it. It seems to be a hybrid between a deadlock and a normal door knob, as it is not permanent. We live on a second floor and use a buzzer to let people in, as you can see in the pics and video attached. Can anyone help me identify it so I can order it online? Thanks a lot in advance... Also looking for other furniture stores: Pottery Barn, West Elm, Williams Sonoma, Ikea and others Any good places for deals on backsplash tile (other than Lowe's or Home Depot)?13h agoI'm going to install a simple subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. I can find some decent deals at the big box stores but are there any material liquidators or wholesale places that may have better deals? Thanks in advance! Where to get wood/laminate cut?14h agoDoes anyone know where I can get a laminate IKEA countertop cut to size? I just need to take a few inches off the sides. I believe Home Depot and Lowes only cuts wood bought from their stores, so those are out.. My new little friend is all set up in her new home.15h agoI wanted to have an interesting, small pet for my home office, and my friend who owns the LFS/exotic pet store had this little lady in his shop. She was surrendered last summer by a Home Depot employee when she stowed away on a plant. I already had basically everything I needed to set up a nice habitat for her, so he gave her to me and now she has a cozy new home. Does hardwood need to adjust to temp at home before working with it?16h agoI want to build a console table similar to the large one in picture 1 from a single piece of wood. This person (@emyludesigns) used a Home Depot 10 x 2 x 12 and painted it, but I want to use quality hardwood from a lumber yard, and stain + seal it instead. Once I buy the wood, do I need to let it adjust to my home temp/humidity before working with it? Looking at White Oak. I live in New England. It's currently frigid and humid ish. My house is around 66, 40% humidity. Wood will have been stored in covered but non-heated facility in New England as well (picture 2). Hitting my first $1,000/mo on the side after getting burned by online “businesses”16h agoI’m a developer working a standard 9-5 and really can’t complain about the salary and the job it self, love it. In the other hand I always have had that itch to build something extra on the side. I guess you all know the feeling since you are scrolling here :D. About my journey at first of course I got roped into one of those "Forex academies." Looking back, it was 100% a Forex MLM. There were some small wins, which really seemed to be just “luck” - no concrete structure at all, but the "mentors" were just marketers who managed to make it all work somehow. I learned how to draw a couple of trendlines on a chart and that was about it. After I got out of that, I t...
