How to get rid of chemical smell on a home depot 2x6?

27m ago

I am using a 2x6 as extra structural support for hanging a hammock in my bedroom. I noticed the board had a... I'm not sure if chemical is quite right, but I'm getting somewhere between that and wet dog? This isn't the first time I've noticed this smell from home Depot lumber. My sister has a diy deck sourced from HD, hers is definitely treated in some way that my 2x6 isn't since it was meant for outdoor use, but I get that same smell from that deck anytime it's particularly damp/humid. I assumed it was just related to the dampness of wherever the lumber is stored before it is shelved, and that it would start to fade once the 2x6 had a chance to dry out in o...

I want a new dishwasher and am also looking to replace my broken garbage disposal. Anyone have any good experiences better than Home Depot/Lowes? Not lookoing to break the bank and they will need to haul out the old washer. Thanks! :)

Looking for sod/grass

1h ago

Hello! Wondering if anyone has seen any sod at Home Depot or other stores? Thinking it might be a little early for them to have it but just wanted to check before going to the stores. Just wanting like a square to put on the patio for my indoor kitty. Thanks!

I'm not sure what to do about lawncare this year - any advice?

7h ago

For the past couple summers, I've hired someone to mow our lawn in Alabama. But after a recent unplanned job change, I'm making notably less than I was, making the idea of hiring someone a bigger financial strain. Having said that, my other options are not necessarily good either. I have a battery mower, an EGO I bought in late 2021. I used it for two summers while living in Oklahoma and generally had no issues with it in a yard slightly smaller than the current one. But I only ever had one battery, and that battery is now dead. It doesn't hold a charge, and the the mower would shut off shortly a few steps into the process. Our grass here is also thicker. We tried cleaning ou...

TCL PHP with Defrost!

11h ago

Looks like the Home Depot has TCL’s new Q series portable heat pump. It’s got a dual hose and when reading thru the manual it does not state an ambient outdoor cut off for heat. More impressively and importantly it clearly states that it has a defrost cycle. Only con I see is no condensation pump but that’s easily fixed with a mini split condensation pump off amazon.

Have I confused nominal with actual dimensions when buying wood for my workbench?

13h ago

I'm building my first workbench, hand-tools only, and I chose [Richard Maguire](https://www.theenglishwoodworker.com/the-english-workbench/)'s take on the Nicholson. There's a short clip on that page, but I bought the full video series as well as his plans. B**ut I think I may have made a mistake when I bought wood for it**. I'm wondering if anyone else has built it and can advise me. For example, in his cut list, Richard mentions: >**A bench of 29" wide can be built using 3 lengths of 10" x 2" rough boards for the top...** But then he also gives the final dimensions of the top, after some planing, as being **around 29½" wide and 1⅞&quo...

Any stores carry Weber Summit Kamado in stock?

16h ago

I am looking at the Weber Summit Kamado as my next kamado grill (currently have a Char-Griller Akorn). I would love to be able to see it before buying, but going to the store finder on Weber.com, all the stores near me do not seem to have it in stock - Ace, Lowes, Home Depot. Has anyone every seen a floor model or a store that carries this in stock? Any tips where else I could go to see one in person? Would love to see it before buying.

First Day doing Spark.

17h ago

Today was my first day using Spark, and I completed three trips. Overall, they were fairly straightforward, which made it a good opportunity to get familiar with the process. Once I accepted my first offer, I noticed that the in-app map did not immediately guide me to the item locations in the store. I initially had to use the Walmart Shopper app in store mode to locate the first item. However, after scanning that item, the Spark app began providing a map layout for the remaining items, which made the rest of the trip much easier. Upon completing the delivery, the customer provided a cash tip, and I began receiving new offers shortly afterward. I did notice that each offer includes a countd...

Is the landlord move out condition fair?

18h ago

Context: All 6 tenants in the house are moving out on same date and this was my landlord's move out inspection requirements... Hi, Everyone: Could everyone make sure you to do the deep cleaning by 1:00 pm \[Date\] please? In case it’s not cleaned as the move in condition, you are responsible to pay for professional cleaners to clean at the market price and it’s on your cost to share. Common area: * Baseboard, * doors, * windows and window frame, * lights make sure no one light bulbs is burned out. If there is any, replace it in advance please. * kitchen fridge, make sure there is no any food left inside the fridge. Inside and outside the fridge needs to be cleaned well. Flo...

PSA for anyone building cabinets with Home Depot hardware

19h ago

https://preview.redd.it/i1ovfdoccaqg1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc69be78bc7135a20ffe1f1660a7cad5a4020f24 I recently finished a couple and bought #8 x ⅝ screws with a washer head for the corner pieces. Local HD inventory had them for $2.67 a pair. I needed 16 per cabinet. 8 packages for one cabinet came out to $21.36. They didn't have enough in stock for the second cab, so I looked at their website. The website had a box of 1000 for $23.02. The main difference is the bulk package is square drive. I prefer the square drive anyway and now I have 984 spares for the next project. Store SKU for the bulk box is 300513618

I had a dream last night it was long and I was at a store with my grandparents, it was a little gift shop connected to a Home Depot. It was so adorable, it had beautiful light wood floors, the shelves were teal, it was so beautifully lit, and it was almost like the gift shop in Cracker Barrel the way I remember it. There was a worker there who I immediately thought was so cute so I went over to look at the things where he was standing, with no intent to talk to him. But he started talking to me! We talked for what could’ve been literally forever and it was like love at first sight, like not even being dramatic. His name was Caden (it was spelled that way too) He was blonde with curly hair ...

Did Home Depot really make job applications a “fastest click wins” game show?

21h ago

I’m honestly pretty upset right now. I applied for 9 different positions at my local store because I’m trying to get anything steady — my wife’s income just got cut by $21/hr, so I’ve been applying literally everywhere. Anyway, this morning at 6:34am I get an email from Home Depot saying “Congratulations! We are moving forward with your application, please sign in…” Cool, right? Except I didn’t see it until around 10:40–11:00am. I log in… and the position is already gone. Just gone. So what is this? They mass‑send out the “Congrats, move forward” email and then sit back like it’s some kind of reality TV challenge to see who clicks the link first? I don’t g...

Mall Cop Nirvana: The Lavender Wax Apocalypse

Paul Blart did not *choose* meditation. Meditation chose him. It began at 3:12 a.m. when he woke up in a cold sweat after dreaming that his segway had unionized and was demanding dental benefits. His blood pressure cuff now fully sentient tightened on its own and whispered, “**Find peace or PERISH, Paul.**” So by sunrise, Paul Blart was in the center of the West Orange Pavilion Mall, shirt slightly untucked, eyes feral, sitting cross-legged in front of a Cinnabon that hadn’t legally existed since 2007. “I will meditate,” he said, voice trembling with destiny. His phone opened an app. He did not remember installing it. The app icon was just a single eye. It blinked. “Welco...

Looking for a dining room light

23h ago

Ugh, sometimes I **** modern life. In the olden days one could shop at a lighting store to buy a light fixture. I just did a Google search and didn’t find anything in MoCo. I don’t want to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and I’m not sure about buying online. I’d like to really see what I’m buying. Are there any lighting stores left in Maryland?

Should I move out? Would I make it?

Hi! I know this questions been asked about a million times, but I really need help. I’m 19F and I currently work at Home Depot. I work a consistent 40 Hrs a week, (M-F) and If I’m lucky, they give us overtime. I make 16.48. (there’s talk of us getting raises soon…so that number could possibly go up, but as I’m writing this, that’s what I make an hour.) I’m thinking about transferring to another store as I don’t like what mine is turning into. Im credited for being a good worker, and my old supervisor really wants me to join over there @ the store they’ve transferred to recently. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to transfer & work at a better store because it...

Battery tender recommendation

1d ago

Greetings, Figure you guys might have a simple solution. I have a pretty simple setup for our company trailers. We have a 25watt solar panel on each roof of our trailers connected to a Victron MPPT 75/15 controller with a home depot 5ah battery. The load is connected to a usb c converter that powers our GPS tracker on the roof. The setup seems to be overkill but its working beautifully. My issue is that our trailers are stored in a enclosed storage unit so when we store them, obviously no sunlight is power the battery and eventually the whole system turns off after a week. Some of our trailers wont leave the storage for months on end. Our storage units do have power outlets where I...
