Low Hassle Haircut for Non elderly 60s year old woman

1d ago

Hey there. My mom is having a heck of a time trying to find someone who can do anything to her hair. It’s thick, is course, and all she really wants is a lightly layered cut (to keep the puffiness of her hair down as her hair has started to get wavier after menopause) cut to about her shoulders. Simple face framing. But she keeps getting horrible shelf cuts. Nothing feathered or blended. Now, she is going to places like Supercuts but she doesn’t know where to go, and when I get my hair done is a full thing and my hair is NOT her hair. Anyone have any suggestions for a lowkey location for her to get a simple cut?

38F. Childhood trauma relating to haircuts from Asian mom

11d ago

I’m 38F, with a white British father and Thai-Chinese mother. Genetically I inherited my mum’s hair type; straight, very dark (black) with each strand being thick. As a child I really like my hair and preferred it long. There was a time, aged 6, I had my hair cut from waist length to bob. I remember being very sad. During my early years I had a very thick fringe (bangs) as my mum didn’t bother to section properly for the right density. It looked ridiculous. It was also cut above my eyebrows to avoid hair getting into my eyes. Aged 8 I wanted to grow out my fringe but due to the density of it, it was a slow and awkward process, even the hair clips were a struggle to use because of how ...

Aitah for walking out?

12d ago

So let me start off with I have very thick, curly hair with lots of volume already and lots of hair in general. I have been looking for a salon near me since I just moved to this state usually, my mother cuts my hair for me but she lives three states away now so c'est la vie. I set up an appointment at a kind of close salon that had amazing reviews told the stylist I talked to that I needed a stylist who can work with my type of hair and she assured me she had set me up with the best person for my type of hair. So I show up for my appointment a very nice woman took me back to the station I'd be sitting at then my stylist comes over and starts the usual Q&A( what do you wan...

Working 7 hours alone in a chain..?

12d ago

(TW small mention of SA) im a relatively seasoned stylist with at least a few requests in my book every day working at a supercuts. we are extremely short staffed and ive been put on several 7hour shifts Completely alone. none of the other stylists at my salon are doing this. i never get a lunch because of how busy i am and im beyond stressed. i put in my two weeks last week but im still. upset? and i dont know if its justified. when i first started there i was sexually harassed by a customer working alone one night and after that my only request was to not work alone and i feel like im just being taken advantage of. im one of the highest rated stylsts at my salon and ive been there a year ...

Fellow Barbershops/Salons

15d ago

Yesterday, there was a man named Connor going around to all the salons and barbershops claiming to be getting a Mohawk as something his fraternity was doing. He waited until his hair was all parted before claiming that he “left his phone in his car and wanted to grab it to take before and after pictures”. Then he leaves with clips still in his hair and does not return. He hit Mary’s Fades around 12:30pm, then went to Roosters around 1pm, then Li’s Hair Salon at 1:30, then went to SuperCuts and SportClips on Fruitville Pike. He called back today claiming to have had a panic attack and wanted to return clips. Problem is, he has returned all the wrong clips to the wrong people. So if an...

New job search

17d ago

So essentially i (21F) have had it just about with my job at Supercuts. I’ve been doing hair a tad over 2 years now. I don’t mind the work whatsoever, my timing just isn’t making it where they want me to, and i **** feeling like i’m having to rush a client out of my chair. We are given 20 mins for a regular haircut, which is pretty normal, especially compared to other places i’ve heard having 15. I’ve been burnt out of this job and i’m so close to quitting but i know the rational thing is to find a new job and make a smoother transition so im not entirely broke. My manager came to me and stated this fact of my timing not making it after i mentioned moving to a different sa...

Moving to a new city with bad options for employment

17d ago

I have to move to this city. The whole 35min surrounding area consists of place after place of small independent barbershops and salons. It is completely over saturated by independent providers. I really dont want to work at a tiny mom pop shop who doesnt have benefits or investors. The only chains I see are great clips and sports clips. Maybe 3 barber chains. The only chain I want to work at will not hire me back bc I left on bad terms and now none of their locations will give me a chance. The other chains I tried applying for were genuinely so unprofessional and I couldn't see myself working there. (Supercuts, great clips) Im moving from a much nicer city where I work at an upsc...

Looking for hairstylist by the name of Rue or Rudy

18d ago

Longshot here... But I'm hoping someone can help me find my go-to hairstylist by the name of Rue or Rudy. She used to work at the Supercuts in Greenbrier, Chesapeake but I was told she has since moved to Virginia Beach. She is a petite black girl about 5'2". Previously wore her hair in dreads but also had them in a clean afro. She was the best sylist around town for me and I'm not having any luck finding her or a replacement as good. Thanks!!!!

I spent 250+ hours mapping a 274-day strict chronological Star Wars canon run. Starts April 3rd. Am I crazy?

20d ago

Hey everyone. So, I’ve decided to do something a little crazy 🤣 I wanted to experience the entire Star Wars canon timeline exactly as it unfolds in-universe—not just the movies, but a fully integrated, strict chronological watch order After many hours of manual math, spreadsheet data entry, and tearing my hair out trying to sync exact timeline placements, I finally mapped out the master key. It is going to take me exactly 274 days to complete. I’ve currently got a freezing UK outbuilding with zero insulation set up as my "Hoth Workshop," and I’ll be starting this absolute marathon on April 3rd. RIP to my free time Here is how I split the 274-day chronological ca...

Do stylists dislike doing boring cuts?

23d ago

Edit: thank you all for being so kind. I really appreciate you guys for taking the time to respond. I am looking forward to my appointment and am so excited to get back into salon chair. Thank you so much <3 My questions likely come from my insecurities and anxiety but I’d really appreciate responses. I’m a 25f who has always felt out of place at salons. I don’t do very much styling so I like to just get slight face framing pieces and some texturing on the ends. Most salons around me have blonde specialists and I’m more alternative so I always feel weird about seeing them. I also grew up low-income and only got a cut like every three years at like Supercuts so salons are lik...

[TOMT][SHORT][2020s] YouTube short about Supercuts/Greatclips

27d ago

It's one guy playing multiple characters, Caucasian with blonde hair. His channel had a lot of skits in the same format. I remember he arrives at the haircut place (can't remember which specifically) with his mom, and sees someone else with a horrible haircut who says "They got my ***", before turning to see his mom slam the door behind her.

Um why can't I find a shampoo/trim under $100?

29d ago

Chile lemme grab my scissors. No but seriously, I've been looking for someone to trim my hair but everyone is asking for $100+ just for a shampoo/trim on my natural hair. Considering the fact that a style isn't even included in the price, I think this is insane!! I'm about to take my butt to supercuts and pray

Does SuperCuts style hair or only cut?

30d ago

This feels a lil bit like a silly question, but does SuperCuts (or any of the cheap salons like Fantastic Sams, etc) actually style hair?- I've only ever gone to Supercuts for hair cuts where they buzz the sides and back so that it's not on my ears/neck and trim the top so it isnt in my eyes. But with an event coming up that I'm gonna be getting my hair cut for anyways i was wondering if they would be able to style it for me or if that's something that I should know how to do before the hair cut It'd just be them braiding the hair on the top since I've been growing that out while keeping everything else short. Is that something that they'd do?- (I'm...

Stylist Search-SuperCuts

30d ago

Hi! Back in November I went to the Supercuts on Oswell and Mall View Rd for a haircut. The girl who cut it for me was named Ashley and she did such a good job! Super chill, good haircut, 10/10 no notes, so I got her card. I tried scheduling with her again today but when I called they said she no longer works there. Her business card only has her contact information for Supercuts and the lady on the phone didn’t provide any follow up info on reaching her. I’m hoping someone finds this post who knows Ashley and knows where she’s working now if she’s still doing women’s hair cuts. Fingers crossed!

New to longer hair

32d ago

Hello! I need some help in the sense that this the longest my hair (and beard) has ever been and i have no idea what to do with it, all i know is i wanna keep growing it out. My whole life ive just buzzed it down or get a supercuts whatever number looks good. I have an appointment with my barber tomorrow and I dont know what to tell him. I have sunglasses on 80 percent of the time and its doing somethin funky with my bangs I think? This has gone long enough, advice would be appreciated!

looking for hair stylist/hairdresser

My old hairdresser left town, so I'm looking for a new one that isn't Supercuts. Preferably one who is *****-friendly, can handle wavy hair, and won't try to convince me to try bangs. Who are the good ones in town?

Oc reddit banned me for saying

Oc reddit mod banned me because I said Supercuts have Mexican mom cutting the hair (personally experienced in the past). How silly is that? Sensitive mods these days 🙄

Cheap salon fixed my head itch? Anybody got an idea how?

38d ago

My very dry hair continues to fall out (about four months now) and the top of my scalp is constantly irritated. I have skin issues pre-Sjogrens specifically getting eczema and contact dermatitis patches. I shower only as much as I need to and have tried tons of expensive products. Got my hair cut a few weeks ago and whatever the heck they washed it with at Supercuts was the best my head has felt in a hot minute. I'm sure this isn’t some organic sulfate free thing but it actually worked. Any notion of what professional hairdresser product this might be? I have a friend who has a cosmetology license who can buy me products if I tell her what. I know this is not something probab...

Best deal I’ve seen in awhile

Most Supercuts in Costa Mesa / Newport are included in this . For those with short hair and neglect cutting cuts because of the price - this is for you!
