My Daughter's Toy Is Not a Plaything

1h ago

My daughter Emma has recently discovered that toy stores exist. This is a problem. Because now every time we go anywhere that even vaguely resembles a place where toys might be sold, she suddenly develops a very intense emotional connection to something she saw approximately five seconds ago. Most of the time I can steer her away before things escalate. But last month she found something I unfortunately could not argue against. It happened at a flea market about twenty minutes outside town. My wife loves those places. Old kitchen stuff, antique picture frames, things that somehow cost more because they’re older. Emma is six, which means flea markets usually bore her to death. She...

Asian grocery store

1h ago

This is a petty topic and not a big deal but I wonder if this is normal? When I buy something at the Chinese grocery store, they never say hi or bye, just silently ring up my items and ask "receipt?". I haven't really paid attention if they treat other customers better but around Chinese new year I noticed they gave the Chinese customers before me a New Years gift and skipped me lol.

Giant Eagle/GetGo save $2 on gas gimmick

1h ago

Was just reading about this in the Cbus Dispactch. Spend at least $100 at one time April 10th to the 12th at the grocery store and get 20 cents off per gallon on a fill-up. So if you need ten gallons of gas, you are spending 100 bucks to save $2.00 and if your tank is almost empty, you might save $3 on 15 gallons. I like Giant Eagle but how much would that 100 bucks of groceries cost at Aldi? Maybe $85?

How practical are washer dryer washing machines?

1h ago

I visited an appliance store to buy washer dryer washing machines for home use two days ago. I wanted something efficient and easy. I also wanted something durable. But when I checked the machines I felt disappointed. Some looked modern but the performance was not strong. Some buttons felt weak. I could not trust them. I could not pick one confidently. Then I visited another shop in the same market. Some machines looked good but they were too costly. Some were affordable but the washing was not effective. Some seemed perfect at first but the build was not strong. I remembered I used a machine last week that had issues. That made me hesitate even more and I felt confused. To check more vari...

I couldn't find a planner that handled routines well, so I built an iOS app that lets you bundle tasks and drop the...

1h ago

Hello everyone, I’m an indie developer, and I recently launched my daily planner app. I was getting frustrated with standard to-do lists because staring at a massive vertical list of chores always felt overwhelming. I needed a way to visualize *when* I was actually going to do things, so I decided to build my own solution. The app focuses on a few core concepts: * **Visual Timeline:** Instead of a static list, you place your tasks into a daily timeline so you can actually see your day taking shape. * **Task Bundling & Routines:** You can group your tasks together (like a "Morning Routine" bundle) and add them into your day with one tap. * **Quick Capture:** A fast...

The Mac is quietly eating Windows’ lunch, and AI is about to unlock a wave of B2B Mac apps that never existed before

1h ago

A few numbers worth sitting with: • Apple shipped 25.6 million Macs in 2025, up 11.1% year over year, while the broader PC industry grew 3.3% (Omdia). • Mac now holds around 11% of the US enterprise market (Computerworld / Omdia, Q4 2025). • MacBook Air was the single most popular notebook in the world last year, with MacBook Neo catching up fast. • In Q1 2026, Mac shipments grew another 9 to 10% depending on who’s counting (IDC / Omdia). For the first time in a long time, Macs are not a design-and-marketing niche. They’re in finance teams, compliance teams, sales ops, legal, HR. Real enterprise users with real workflows. Here’s the thing that nobody talks about. For ...

Bitcoin: A Mass Belief in Something That Does Not Exist

1h ago

When Satoshi Nakamoto introduced Bitcoin, he claimed it was a payment system, a means for conducting transactions. However, a transaction presupposes that something is being transferred. Payment is impossible if there is no object of payment, something that goes from one party to another. Yet, it is precisely the object of payment that is missing from Satoshi’s creation. His system merely maintains a decentralized list showing which numbers are assigned to which cryptographic keys. People began joining this system by spending electricity to obtain these number assignments and paying to have them reassigned. From that point onward, a mass collective illusion has taken hold: participants b...

Seeking Honest Feedback on My Neighborhood Supermarket Idea in Bulacan

1h ago

I’m planning to open a 200 sqm neighborhood grocery / supermarket in Boacaue // Santa Maria, Bulacan, targeting lower-to-middle income families and sari-sari store owners. Core Idea: • Everyday Low Prices (EDLP) every day, not just on promotions. • Strong emphasis on fresh, authentic local Bulacan products (aiming for 25-35% of sales) through direct consignment from small producers. • A modern yet warm neighborhood feel — convenient one-stop shopping combined with friendly, helpful service. Key Differentiators: • Deeper focus on local Bulacan goods compared to big chains like Puregold, DALI, or O!Save. • Sari-sari stores are treated as partners rather than competito...

Roast MyWishDune (yes, last time my post looked too AI, my bad)

1h ago

Hey, I posted here recently and the feedback was actually really helpful, so thanks for that. Moderators were right that my text looked like it was written by AI – English is not my first language, so I ran it through a tool to make it more readable and overdid it. Sorry for that. I did a proofread and thought it was fine. Lazy-human version of what I’m doing: I built a small wishlist site called MyWishDune for my son’s birthday, because existing sites ****** me off. Now it’s a simple thing where you make a wishlist, share a link, and people can reserve gifts without creating an account. It can also pull items from Amazon so you don’t have to paste everything by hand. I live in...

I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing lol

1h ago

I got hired on as an ASL and this is my first key holder job in a grocery setting. I wasn’t given any training besides closing tills and then thrown on the register. My managers are very understanding but I can tell they are definitely overworked and understaffed. They’ve also been there for years so they do everything like it’s muscle memory to them and everything goes so fast it feels like they don’t have a lot of time to properly train anyone. I’m just stressing because I genuinely have no idea on dollar generals standards and protocols, I thought I’d get to watch training videos to grasp the concept of unloading trucks and proper safety but besides register and recovery I’m...

AITA for scolding a Walmart manager?

1h ago

Don't know why I'm bringing this up again. already got banned from the Walmart subreddit for even talking about it. In late July 2025 my mother and I went to walmart to get groceries. As I always do I was only there to look at stuff. Mainly electronics. When I was done looking I went back out to the car and waited for Her to come back out. When She did eventually come out she told me she had been trespassed from the store for shoplifting despite not being shown any evidence. Due to \*somewhat recent events\* I became more protective of her and wanted to figure out exactly what was going on. I went in there and found the manager responsible for the trespassing. When I asked abo...

I didn’t like any of the multitool apps on the market, so I made my own.

2h ago

Hey guys :)  In the last month I built a new all in one multitool app. I made it for myself because I didn’t like any of the ones on the market but I'd be very happy if someone finds it useful as well. Right now there are 74 tools (some of them have multiple tools inside and 72/74 work offline). There are no full screen ads or video AT ALL, so you won't be interrupted when opening, using or closing a tool. And the premium is very cheap (lifetime, NO SUBSCRIPTION) As a community of app's enthusiasts like you are, I'd like to know what you think of it, happy to recieve any kind of feedback. Thank you in advance 🙂 (The app is available in: English, Italian, Span...

25F | Law Student | Building a long-term investment foundation with no expenses. Where to begin?

2h ago

Hi everyone, I’m a 25F currently finishing law school. My plan is to sit for the Bar exam soon and join my father's law firm. I’m fortunate to come from a comfortable background: my parents cover university tuition, so I don’t need a side job, and they fund my travels throughout the year. They also provide me with a $700 monthly allowance for personal spending (leisure, dining out, friends). Since I have absolutely no expenses (no rent, bills, or groceries), I want to use this money wisely. I recently moved away from crypto to start investing in the stock market. So far, I’ve put $1,000 into stocks to test the waters, but I’m a bit lost on the actual roadmap to building lon...

Why do so many people go barefoot?

2h ago

Visiting Australia from the U.S. right now. I started in Brisbane, rented a car and drove up to Bundaberg, then made my way down to Sydney. Almost everywhere except for Sydney (especially the smaller towns), there are a decent number of adults and kids that just walk around barefoot. In the grocery store, on the sidewalk, even in public restrooms (which honestly seems very unsanitary to me - who knows what’s on those floors haha). Is this a normal thing? And if so, why? Lol Thanks!

Flexible Packaging vs Rigid Packaging - Which is Better for Your Business?

And honestly… there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. But if you break it down properly (cost, logistics, branding, etc.), the choice becomes much clearer. Let’s go through it in a practical way — no fluff. # First, what’s the actual difference? # Flexible Packaging This includes: * Pouches * Bags * Laminated films Basically, anything that can bend or change shape. # Rigi...

Hello, Quick Recap: About three weeks ago, I posted here ([Sick of Vapi being "Offline"? I’m trying to build a 24/7 Digital Assistant for us, but I need your help.](https://www.reddit.com/r/vapi/comments/1rwuywk/sick_of_vapi_being_offline_im_trying_to_build_a/)) asking for your help to scout local data because I was frustrated with how "offline" our city feels. The advice and leads I got from this sub were useful. I’ve been "in the lab" since then, and the MVP for VapiSathi is finally ready for you guys to break. I wanted this community to be the first to see it before I do a wider launch. What’s under the hood right now: **Phase 1**: The Vapi Food &am...
