One company survived. Think Big Minute #27 Hertz lost $250M in 2019 because customers kept asking “why does it cost more to skip your gas refill option than to just bring it back full.” They never fixed the answer. They eventually had to file Chapter 11. Netflix raised prices in 2011 and lost 800,000 subscribers in one quarter when buyers asked “why am I paying separately for streaming and DVDs.” They fixed the answer in 30 days and recovered. TV commercial1d agoA long time ago, my partner and I saw this very memorable commercial with an indian salesperson dramatically offering a ridiculous piece of jewelry to a potential customer, with the words "how about a nice diamond studded cougar?" articulated in such an exaggerated fashion (and over-the-top accent) that it is clear what a pointless, ridiculous gift this ****** thing would make, for anyone! So... naturally.. decades later, this year for mother's day (don't tell her yet!), **I bought her the closest thing to a diamond studded cougar I could find on Etsy** .. a "vintage articulated shoulder tiger with rhinestones, enameled and jointed, red rhinestone eyes, c. 1980s&quo... I built a 1:1 scale replica of the Indiana, PA Mall in Minecraft—complete with classic retro stores and interior fount...2d agoHey everyone! I wanted to share a massive project I just finished. I built a 1:1 scale model of the Indiana Mall (interior and exterior) using smooth stone for the facade.Instead of building it how it looks today, I went full nostalgia and recreated it from the past. It includes all four classic anchor stores fully built out:SearsThe Bon-TonJCPenneyKmartI wanted it to be as accurate as possible, so I made sure to include the interior fountains and even mapped out all the vending machines. Let me know what you think, and let me know if there are any specific storefronts you want to see closer images of! Seventeen Magazine - April 1975-28 JC Penney Summer Forecast Joyce Walker4d agoMemories through time: Northfield Square Mall (Bourbonnais, IL)5d agoOpened August 1st, 1990 - recently acquired by the Village of Bradley for redevelopment. Still open, including Cinemark. The 4 anchor stores (now closed) 2 Carson Pirie Scott stores, Sears and JCPenney. Barrels ‘N’ Bins in Image 2 is a candy store - may still be operating. Amidst it all, the water feature continues to run with a cute sparkling light display. If the JCPenney at the San Antonio rim closes. They should low-key put a store here.5d agonot wanting to sound rude or anything, but I think they should put a stored here for one reason the place is ginormous and I’m pretty sure it’s not gonna last till the end of the year. It probably be the best place to put a store down due to it being in the middle of like everywhere. And I understand that you usually start grabbing leases around June and July but if it shuts down, which hopefully it doesn’t. They should come in and turn this into a spirit Halloween store. Help Identifying this Pup!!5d agoLooking for my long lost soul mate. I vividly remember getting him from one of the big mall department stores (Macys, JCPenneys, etc.) in the early 2000s. This is the only picture I have of him. Any help is appreciated!!! Good budget 3 piece suit suggestions6d agoI want to get back into wearing a suit, I used to own a charcoal grey 3 piece, but it was one off the rack at JCPenney, and I got rid of it a few years ago. I'm a landscaper, so it's not going to be a daily wear, but I plan on wearing it every Sunday to church, preferably for a long time. I'd say my budget is \~500 bucks, though I'd be able to go a bit higher if my alternatives are just junk. Also preferably I'd like one that'd look good sans jacket, as I really like just the vest and pants look. Either good online stores would be great, otherwise some brands to look for in person (though it's probably slim pickings where I live) good budget 3 piece suit suggestions6d agoI want to get back into wearing a suit, I used to own a charcoal grey 3 piece, but it was one off the rack at JCPenney, and I got rid of it a few years ago. More than half of the mall has been empty and this historic staple has been a ghost town since the pandemic. Walking into a JC Penny today is like walking into a Sears, considering that a whole lot of JCP locations still have the original lighting, home department and apparel that Sears has. As of the day of this post, there are 51 stores in this mall. JCP has 645 stores, including this one here in Sacramento (Citrus Heights) and it is the last anchor of this mall, Macy's has 408 and Sears has 5, including the last one here in the state of California, at Sun Valley Shopping C... The guy who founded JCPenney lived to be 95, yet his life was contained entirely inside Jeanne Calment’s.9d agoSt. John's Bay coat help!10d agoI recently found this coat on clearance at JCPenney near me and was really quite fond of it. Unfortunately I almost immediately spilled grease on it and can't fix the stain despite my best efforts. It appears to have been the only one of its kind at the store, and trying to find this exact kind of coat online has been strangely difficult. Any help tracking down the type/name and/or a place where I can get another online would make my week! Marley Station into a town center11d agoI’m still saddened to this day that Marley Station in Glen Burnie, is becoming more empty than ever. It’s time we turn into a town center with JCPenney leading, since it’s the most shopped store in the mall. No experience with colognes or fragrances and I'm overwhelmed to start12d agoSomebody I know smells amazing lately. When I asked her about it she said she was using something called Goda. Claiming that it works with a person's pheromones. When I looked into it I saw a lot of people claiming that the pheromone stuff is snake oil BS. And that this particular company has terrible customer service. So I'm not going to try to get the same thing that she uses. It did help me realize that I should make more of an effort to smell better. Even though I don't get out much and I don't have much reason for it, I should just do it for myself. And after some quick research I realized I want to try an oil instead of a spray. But I don't even know wh...
