Where can I take my skills?

39m ago

Hi everyone, I (33m) just want to put this out into the universe and see what happens as I'm in need of advice. My partner and I have recently moved back to Perth WA after spending 2 years in the UK and I'm thinking this may be the last time I can really start again and move my way into a career that will give us a good future. Throughout my career I've done: \\- Hospitality: Worked my way from casual employee to Area manager of a franchise, Restaurant manager with over 50+ staff \\- Retail: Casual to mid level management of stores earning up to $3M a week in peak trade \\- Care: Disability support work for adults and children, in senior positions that involved creating...

2 in copper pipe

1h ago

where would be the best place to scavenge for a 2-in copper pipe around 3 ft long I need this particular piece to make a still but I'm not sure where to source it without going to a hardware store or Amazon I have demoed and remodeled many residential houses of various ages and never came across something that would work for this application I do not want to go and purchase it from somewhere new for two reasons 1. if you pay taxes on it it ain't shine. I know you can't get away from paying taxes on everything when it comes to doing this but the least amount the better 2. I am cheap . side note. what I have found online is I can buy a flute already made for a co...

Missed out on the drop of one of my favorite books and I’m frustrated.

1h ago

So I’m now 41 and I’ve found myself become a bag girlie. Coach is one of my vices like a really big one. When they had their spring campaign and released these little book charms I got super excited because it’s Maya Angelou…..duh I need to own this book charm. The initial run sold out and I wasn’t able to get one the second drop today sold out immediately and I wasn’t able to get one even my sales associate at Coach said they didn’t come to the store and my store is the flagship here in Los Angeles and now I’m just super frustrated to see all of the non melenated palm colored people showing off that they collected it and that it’s now on resell sites for over $300 like thi...

Pentacon electric 50mm f1.8 M42

1h ago

I honestly don't remember when I purchased this lens. I believe it was from keh's eBay store before they rebranded it to the camera outlet I think. anyway, it's been a while and it's one of my favorites. it's not in the best shape but it focuses just fine and the aperture does work but is a little slow when stopping down. the blades themselves close down real slowly if I don't use it for a while. It's based on the 6-element "Double Gauss" construction originally released in the mid-1960s as the Meyer-Optik Oreston 50mm f/1.8. this particular version, based on its serial number, was manufactured around 1978 to 79.

Suggestions for accommodations or just words of encouragement

Like alot of us I am very soul weary and just trying to do my best and make it day by day, but if there are any of you out there that might have been through something similar that can help guide me or point me to some resources to help I would greatly appreciate it because I am so tired and unsure of where to go from here. I have been a barista for going on 20 years and with the siren around 6. I have always been a constant and reliable employee/partner. If I called out you knew I was physically unable to come to work and I always showed up early. 2022 like many of us I had my bout with covid, I thought it was a one and done but then I started having dizzy spells when I would stand up and p...

Georgetown, Guyana

I gotten used to Starbucks becoming slowly more grimy as years goes by, like how pizza hut was nice in the 80s then a complete dump 20 years later. This outlet in Georgetown Guyana is possibly the best looking store I’ve seen in a decade - shout out to the team here.

¤¤¤¤¤ THE SILENCE OF YOUTH ¤¤¤¤¤ He didn’t say much in grade school. Didn’t need to. When your father’s dead by seven, your mother’s working doubles, and your voice drops before your classmates even hit their growth spurts. You learn real fast how to disappear while still being seen. Not vanish. Just… drift to the edge of things. Make your body a border. Make your silence an offering. Mike knew how to wait. He waited in classrooms where the teacher always paused before saying his name \-“Michael… Uh… O’Malley?” - stumbling over the mix of Irish and melanin like it was a trick question. He waited during recess, standing by the fence instead of the...

AITA for asking my wife to help me keep my weekly mileage streak alive?

3h ago

So my (M, elite endurance athlete) wife (F, believes running is about “enjoyment” instead of data optimization) went out for a run this morning. Before she left asked her to wear my watch so I could upload it to Strava, since I am currently in recovery after absolutely bonking in my last 5K ultra due to not having enough Gu, only had 6 packets, which in hindsight is basically starvation. In addition, elevation was basically Everest and the weather was above my preferred temperature of 50 degrees. I could go on, but you get the idea. The issue is my streak of hitting 3.1 miles weekly (That's 5k in non freedom units). I haven’t missed my target in months…. We’re talking cons...

Pc problems

4h ago

Recently my PC has started turning off randomly, and not turning back on, it started several weeks ago one night i got home and it wouldn’t start, took it into a shop and it sat there for several days and when he started working on it, it turned right on and worked. Worked for several days until shutting off again when i wasn’t using it, took it in and didn’t even leave it there, just plugging it in at the store booted it up and at that point thought it was an outlet/cord issue. Took it home and changed the cord and plugged it into an outlet by itself, worked this afternoon until i turned off while i was using it, the only way i was able to get it back on was essentially unplugging it ...

Is it possible to be a store leader for multiple years?

4h ago

I’ve heard it explained as being a store manager in training job, which implies it would be “timed” and you would be expected to earn a promotion within 6-18 months. Is that true? Could someone just chill and make a career out of being a store lead? Seems like a good spot. Above all the coaches and team leads but below the store manager. All the heat probably goes to your boss or the coaches below you.

Must be heaven

Hi, i'm from south America so excuse my english. I'm passing through a really difficult time in personal life, i'm feeling lost and empty. Also I just have contact with 2 or 3 person in the world, not even talk about romantic stuff. With all that context here comes the dream. I was in the passenger seat of a car. A girl is driving. We are in a city, streets are normal but the blocks, instead of buildings and stores, they had the beauties gardens I have never seen. Each one different than the other. Imagine those pictures of Japan with cherry blossom, but each garden had a different main color, with flowers, seats under the trees, and a lot of peace. About the girl, I never...
