[Mintzer] Giannis, Kalshi, and the Death of Trust in Sports

2h ago

Original article: https://ericmintzer.substack.com/p/giannis-kalshi-and-the-death-of-trust \> In the week leading up to the NBA trade deadline, Shams reported Giannis Antetokounmpo wanted out of Milwaukee. ESPN promptly named the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Golden State Warriors as potential landing spots. Over the next several days, Giannis trade rumors took over the sports news cycle. Major outlets discussed it seriously, debated fits, and framed it as a real possibility. Yet, as the deadline passed, the two-time MVP remained with the Bucks. \> Soon after, Giannis announced that he had taken a partial ownership stake in Kalshi, a prediction-mark...

How soon can you transfer after just transferring to a store a few months ago?

3h ago

I moved out of state with my family and transferred stores a little more than 3 months ago. Since working at this store, everyone that I work with has been extremely passive-aggressive and overall rude to me for no reason. I’m a great worker and I don’t know what it is that I’m doing to warrant any disrespect, but I’m over it. I brushed it off at first because I thought maybe I’m just overreacting and taking certain things the wrong way they weren’t intended to be, but I’ve noticed a clear pattern now and realized I was just gaslighting myself in the process. I usually keep to myself and work hard, work my 8 hours, get what I need to get done and go home. I don’t want to talk...

**Service Businesses** 1. **Niche language tutor.** If you’re fluent in uncommon languages you can sell tutoring and conversation practice on your own website/business or on preply or another tutoring platform.  2. **Answer SEO for businesses.** Write high-quality articles to answer the long-tail keywords. This will make your clients businesses show up on AI search overviews and bring traffic to their websites. 3. **Custom Shopify/Website Themes.** Create a website based on a theme for their business. Reach out to them and show them what it would look like and the data that backs the decision to buy it. If they don’t like it, sell the theme on Shopify so others can personalize it. ...

Need small help from people coming to Nepal from USA or any other country

3h ago

Hey guys, Im honestly frustrated at this point. Ive been trying to buy original Puma,Nike,Adidas futsal boots (US size 11) in Nepal and it feels impossible. I checked Puma store, those so-called Adidas/Nike outlets in Durbarmarg, plus Labim, Eyeplex, Patan area and literally everywhere. And what they say is either: US 11 size nai hudaina Or they only have very old models with lesser than 11 Or the prices are crazy compared to abroad like a shoe called adidas samba costs like $70-$80 in USA and in Nepal it’s 25k or something like wtf???? Am I ****? Also the showroom here aren’t that fascinating as of abroad to charge that much. Most showrooms say they get limited pieces and size 11...

3h ago

So I went to my local XC store that also happens to be the best rated in the city I live in. I tested quite a few pairs and we landed on the Madshus Race Pro Classic ski. All fun and dandy until I tried to ski on them... 0 grip. Literally 0. Even with the binding furthest forward, it did not matter in the slightest.   Fast forward to a week or so ago where I went back to the store that fitted them for me and told them, they said the ski likely had some kind of manufacturing error yada yada. I got a new pair that had slightly less/softer camber so I could really push down on them. Tried them out a couple of times now and the grip is STILL not great... The ski just does not s...

Things to do in Vermont

3h ago

I have spent far too many years in Vermont bored out of my mind looking for things to do here, so I made a list of things that I would like to do soon (most of which I have not done before). I figured I would share it as there are almost certainly people in Vermont also looking for things to do! I would love and appreciate any additions to the list (mine is severely lacking hiking due to primarily using a wheelchair, and I have also omitted anything that is quite expensive and tend to be overrun by tourists, such as Stowe Street or any of the resorts). If you have anything you think would be a good thing to add to the list, please let me know, or if something on the list ...

How to Actually Get Smarter in Your 20s: 20 Books That Work (Backed by Science)

4h ago

okay so i spent way too much time researching this. like, genuinely obsessive amounts of time going through bestseller lists, podcast recommendations, reddit threads, and my own chaotic bookshelf trying to figure out which books actually moved the needle for me. because here's the thing, most "books for men in their 20s" lists are either the same recycled self help garbage or some finance bro telling you to read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" for the 900th time. no shade but we can do better. i pulled from everything, books on psychology, philosophy, relationships, career stuff, even some fiction that genuinely changed how i see the world. some of these are classics everyone ...

Seeking investors for an AI tool that tracks player injuries to gain an advantage over other bettors

4h ago

I am 22 years old and a student. Over the past year, I’ve been mostly focused on learning about AI, and now that I have some extra time, I’d like to build an interesting project. It probably won’t be financially profitable at first, but it could benefit me in the future, and the knowledge gained from working on it would be invaluable. The idea is to build an AI system that automatically monitors sports news sources every day, extracts information about player injuries (who, what, how long, return status), and sends summarized updates via email, WhatsApp, and Telegram. This is NOT “a single AI,” but rather a combination of tools and AI models. Since the project itself is expensiv...

Unused February Birthday Coupon

Similar to a post in this sub last month, I'm not interested in adding to my Vera collection and won't have any need for the birthday coupon I received in my inbox at the start of the month. Use and enjoy - I only ask that you comment if you've used the code(s) so it doesn't lead to confusion when multiple people try to apply it to their purchase. What to do when quitting with last minute notice?

4h ago

I’ve been working as an ON stocker for almost two months and I’m so sick and tired of working my butt off, only to be told I need to move faster. Yesterday I had the most insane amount of work to the point where I was sweating all over in stress and pain. I’m exhausted and all the life has been drained from me. I’ve look and feel like I’ve aged 20 years and my body is killing me. Today all the ON staff had to have a meeting and the coach basically told us how some of us had “horrible performance” yesterday and that we need to be faster. I feel like a slave to this job and it’s not worth it! What exactly should I do? I’m 20 if that matters, do I need to file any taxes? Thi...

The Psychology of Becoming High Value Without the Toxic BS

5h ago

Let me be real with you. The internet is flooded with dudes telling you to "be alpha," lift weights, and act like some emotionless robot to become a "high value man." Most of it's bullshit. I spent months digging through actual psychology research, books from real experts, and podcasts from people who aren't just trying to sell you a course. What I found? Being high value has nothing to do with fake confidence or acting like an *******. It's about becoming someone YOU respect first, then everyone else follows. Here's the uncomfortable truth: society sets men up with confusing, contradictory messages about masculinity. Biology wires us for certain beha...

Updates not showing in the Google Play Store

6h ago

Has anybody noticed that Zepp version updates don't appear in the Google Play Store? I've been in touch with Amazfit support over an issue regarding not being able to edit my Coach plan in the week to be a bit more flexible with life - the function should be there (according to them) but isn't. So I decided to uninstall and reinstall the app, just in case there was a caching issue of some description, and the new version that downloaded is 10.0.6 - but it had not been showing up as an update in my Play Store. Now, the new version has slightly funkier colours around the biocharge, sleep, exertion bars, and a new tab for badges that you can earn for achieving goals in t...

How do you market an "All-in-One" health app without looking like a bloated mess? (Seeking UX/Growth feedback)

6h ago

Hey everyone, I’m the dev behind **Medhya,** an iOS health coach app. I’m currently hitting a wall with my User Acquisition (UA) strategy and could really use some expert eyes. **The App's Problem:** Medhya provides custom meal plans, workouts, meditations, and a 24/7 Health Coach, a daily nudge system. It also features a body heat map for progress visualization. Because it does *so much*, I’m struggling to find a "Hero Feature" for my App Store screenshots and ads. **I’m looking for feedback on 3 things:** 1. **The "Hero" Feature:** If you were running Apple Search Ads, would you lead with the "Custom Meal Plan" or the "Body Heat Map"...

Help: Health Coach, Meal Planner, or Workout App? I built all three into one, but I’m struggling to name the 'cat...

6h ago

Hey everyone, I’ve been building **Medhya** for a while now. The goal was to solve the "fragmentation" problem in health. Personally, I ***** jumping between a meal planner, a workout app, and putting my health queries into chatgpt. So, I built all of them into one "24/7 Coach" that adapts your meal plan if you miss a workout, or suggests a meditation if your stress markers are high. **The Problem:** I’m hitting a wall with branding and positioning. Because it does everything, I'm struggling to tell people what it *is* without a paragraph of text. **I need your brutal honesty on 3 things:** 1. **The "Everything" Problem:** If you saw an app that pr...
