I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I know I couldn’t come face to face with a cow or sheep and kill it myself.. so it doesn’t feel right to eat it? It feels like cheating, going against nature in some way to be so separated from the process lol. I could kill a fish though, maybe even a chicken if I was desperate. I think the cruelty of factory farming is what makes me feel uneasy though.. Where I grew up my grandfather would go hunting so sometimes we’d be eating venison instead of bought meat. My dad is a “man’s-man”. He worked on tractors for 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish, anything outside. We only found him inside when it was horrible weather (tornados, hurricanes). He had a stroke recently and can walk with a cane, but has limited range of motion to his right arm/hand. I can tell he is getting down, he can’t do anything he used to do. I’m looking for ideas to give him a “job”. He needs something that will help give him purpose and will help work his brain.

I‘ve been interested in keeping an Oscar and a Texas together since I found a killer deal for a 160 gallon off of marketplace. However, every fish store I went to recommended against it, saying how aggressive the Texas would be. For that reason, I stayed away from them and just got a gold severum, bristlenose pleco, and an electric blue acara once my 160 was cycled. I waited until they were about 4 inches long each before adding in a 2 inch Oscar, and the beast has already outgrown both of them after just a few months at around 5 inches.
