I'm one of two devs working on Minimo - a co-op roguelite where 200 players drop into a shared procedural world for a 30-minute run. Gather, craft, fish, fight, push as deep as you can, world ends, unlock classes from a pool of 50+ and go again. The pitch in roguelite terms: most of the genre treats "co-op" as 2-4 players sharing one run. I have recently confirmed that Xbox360 TU9 Minecraft uses Java 1.1 World Generation (as seen in the above images), although Java 1.1 uses different mushroom island, 'mini plains islands' (that also spawn in Ocean biomes, typically have mostly grass with an oak tree or two), and structure (includes village, mineshaft, etc.) generation than TU9.
