I have added two pictures and two drawings I made. He's been with me for around 2 months, he lives in a 10-gallon with a lot of plants and a small breeding colony of neocaridina shrimp. He's had these weird "curls" in his fins since I got him at the store. There’s a huge thrift store local to me (relevant picture) that has rows of items like this. How might one go about checking these pieces to determine if they’re plated or otherwise, especially if they’re old with worn or missing engravings? I got this Betta 2 days ago from my LFS. He was labeled as a Blue Marble Plakat and much larger than the other Bettas around. I've usually had a mix of Bettas throughout the years (mostly rescues) from flowy finned males, to a sorority of shorter finned females, but never a Plakat and it's one fish I've wanted to keep for a few years now. He's relatively chill aside from constantly trying to find things to hunt and peck at rather than accepting commercial fish food but so far hasn't harassed the m/f pair of RCS I added and the larger snails. A teacher is allowing my mom to bring the class pet, a betta fish, home for Memorial Day weekend. He has a small fish bowl that’s less than a gallon, has glass pebbles and two plastic plants. His colors are dull and it’s all awful. He’ll be in a cup but I just think that’s a bit cruel and am going to the store to get him a better tank and everything even if just for a few days and I could possibly gift it to the teacher after. hi everyone, I am new to the aquarium hobby. About 4 months ago, I purchased some teak driftwood from my local fish store to add to my aquarium. I was told to submerge it in a bucket of water for \~2-3 months to remove any tannis while replacing the water every week or so. 4 months later the driftwood would still darkens the water to a very deep brown tea color. I do not have a pot big enough to boil it in. even after 4 months, is this suppose to happen, is there another way to do this? Any advice would be appreciated. thank you.
