Hello all, I have fish but not an ADF, at least not yet. I keep seeing these little guys at our fish store and they have stolen my heart! I would really like to learn what I need to help them thrive. So far my plan is a planted tank with sand substrate, rocks, and a couple of ornaments to swim through. I am thinking a 20 gallon long so that they can be in a small group. I am reading conflicting info about how deep the water should be. Also, do they need caves or do they possibly get stuck in caves? I appreciate any advice you might have and any resources you can point me to!

I don't normally like going online bc I like being able to see the fish in person but does anyone have a reliable breeder/online store they use for bettas? I don't have much near me, most places keep bettas in cups and they aren't ever healthy. I'm just curious if I should try online shops with someone who keeps them well cared for. My husband (55) and myself (48) will be married for 20 years this year. We have 5 kids. Together 1. He had two and I had two from previous marriages. We are both retired from govt jobs.
