Latest Comments & Reviews & Feedback & Social Media Sharing of the Book Store Latest Community Discussions About Book Stores in USChildren's book from 1970's, possibly 1960's.4h agoHi folks, Back in my elementary school days (mid-late 1970's), there was a book that was in my first school's library. If I'm remembering all of the details correctly, it was indigenous themed and possibly by an indigenous writer and illustrator. The main character was a child (who I think was blind) who had to travel to the underworld to get something to save an ailing grandparent. I seem to remember it being wider than tall, and the pages were mostly black aside from white or coloured text and the artwork. I've reached out to my old school, my old city's main library, the main library where I live now, and all of the new and used book stores here. I've s... I need help turning this space into a library/museum/kids book section type room!1d agoSorry for the disorganization and mess we just moved in! My fiance and I bought a house recently and it's been so great but I want to make this into my DREAM room I had always wanted as a kid. I want to make it sort of an animal themed bookstore? Like you know when you go to a large beautiful book store and they have a kids section with a large tree with plush animals in it, moss or grass rug, books everywhere, and plants. Well that's my goal! I also love creepy, vintage and cottage esque type decor. I REALLY want to try to make a fake tree somewhere in here and put up plushie nets dyed green to hold the stuffies in branches. I just want a super magical space! Idc if I'm alm... [I Stack Experience Through Writing Books]2d agoWow guys, after almost five years, it came back with 9 new chapters, it seems that the first 150 chapters was juste season 1, they now started season 2 !!! [WWTBC] Book store owner & tattoo shop owner, shop neighbors. Friends to lovers?2d agoHey guys! I’m trying to remember the name of a book that released last year. I didn’t get far into it. The woman newly owned either a book store, coffee store, or a combination of the two. The owner next door ran a tattoo shop and helped her get into her business the first day and I didn’t read farther than that, but now I can’t find it in my library 😩 I don’t think it was dark romance. I think the premise is they become friends but he (or both) are infatuated. He was very kind and not a jerk to her upon meeting so not an alphahole book I believe. Recommendations for some Hindi Novels3d agoHi, I am planning on gifting my father a few books. During the time when i was a kid, that is like..20 years ago..my dad was an avid reader of Hindi novels and i have heard from my aunties and uncles that he used to write articles for local magazines and newspapers when in college. Through the years, i saw his workload getting a lot, and then i stopped seeing him bring home books checked out from his office library. He retired last year, and i thought, I would try to reignite his love for reading. It is much healthier than scrolling phone all day at any rate. I also enjoy reading, however my inclination always was towards western books with more crime and mystery thrillers at a young age,... Hardcovers vs Audiobooks vs Ebooks for a newcomer3d agoI want to get into DCC (especially since I have a soft spot for litrpg from anime and light novels) but I'm a little confused because it sounds like each version is a little different. The hardcovers have exclusive chapters, but I hear the audiobooks have exclusive sections as well? Ebooks would be the cheapest, but I don't want to miss anything that aren't in other versions. My local library also says the wait for any copy will take *months* and I don't like not having the freedom to just read on my own time. I'm currently in the middle of listening to Sanderson's Cosmere books and I make my way through them mainly when I drive or do chores. I've got ab... Prior to Book 83d agoThose of you lucky enough to find a copy in the wild included, but primarily the patreon subs that have read book 8 already, how necessary/beneficial is it to first read the Pineapple Cabaret? I am an audiobook listener so i dont gave all the physical copies, but I just saw some lady on tiktok tell me that it would definitely be worth it to get my *** to a book store or library or somewhere that I can read all of Pineapple Cabaret to better understand parts of whats going on.. What if library of Alexandria continued to exist?4d agoI know that the library wasn’t destroyed in a single fire and that most of the books stored there had copies elsewhere. But it seems to me that the library’s main advantages were: 1. The fact that all those works were kept together, and scholars had access to various sources simultaneously 2. The funding provided So my questions are: What kind of influence would the Library of Alexandria have had if it had continued to exist, and were there any similar libraries during the Middle Ages? 📚 Book question 📚4d agoSome (many) years agon I visited a book store, 2nd hand, to increase my collection of Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms and particular The Legend of Drizzt. On a hunch I bought this book Does the subredit know more? Seems to be 1st printing Is it the first book to read If I want to start the Game of Thrones adventure ? Is there a proposed reading order? Is there a main story line Thanks for the help Manga cafe, where can I find mangas in zc5d agoNaghahanap ako ng book store na may manga except for fully booked, yes na visit ko na. [*Old Sche... are there any free little libraries?6d agoI have a lot of books I’m trying to get rid of because I’m moving soon, and, while I know there are library book stores and thrifts, I love the idea of free little libraries being a cute neighborhood thing. Are there any in the Irvine area where I can just drop off some books for free? Or a program of the sort that is okay with me dropping off used books (some have writing in them or are just older so they have usual wear from moving around or being read)? Am I too judgmental? Or just picking up the worst books?6d agoSorry this is long, I am not good at summarizing my thoughts 😞 I am trying to get back into reading, I recently moved just around the corner from a romance bookstore! In 2016 I was very active on wattpad, and throughout the pandemic I was a big reader of fanfictions, so I am very familiar and comfortable with romance, smut and things of the like. Since I am now an adult who is addicted to Video Games like Baldurs Gate 3, I decided to look for Vampire novels. I've picked up handfuls of novels from the Library that I can't remember the names of, couldn't get more than 5 chapters in to most of them. I have read From Blood and Ash, and had to DNF Kingdom of Flesh and Fire bec... Movie or series with a clue in the book The Little Prince6d agoProtagonists race against the clock or against antagonists to solve mystery or find treasure. One of the clues or maybe it was a red herring was in a copy of the Little Prince. In a library or something? I was thinking National Treasure but when I googled it, nothing surfaced. It would have been like prob mid-2000s-now. Live action. Thanks! Edit to add details: there were rival groups searching and one group may have tricked the “bad” group into searching for the copy of the book. I feel like I remember the villains going to the library or book store and shaking the pages searching. Maybe it wasn’t a red herring and the other team beat them? I’m not sure but the Little Prince itself... Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
