In desperate need of help with my enclosure

19h ago

Help with enclosure please! I want to make some needed changes to my gecko's enclosure but I cannot find any helpful information that isn't extremely confusing. I'm autistic and part of that means not understanding written/verbal instructions well. I'm looking for direct links to where I can buy certain things, detailed video tutorials, or detailed instructions that aren't just a clusterf\\\\\\\*ck of big long words that the average person can't even understand. I currently have him in a 40 gallon glass terrarium. The substrate I'm using is some anti-slip porcelain tile, which i only recently found out is not the best option. Soon i will be switching to ...

The amount of space this ACE Hardware store has promoting Scott’s* is revolting

23h ago

The first image is what made me die inside, and it represents a part of society that I feel seething rage towards. NATURE IS SUPPOSED TO BE WILD AND IF YOUR YARD IS NOT WILD, IT ISN’T NATURAL! And the fact that they are promoting chemicals that are toxic to the environment to achieve that \*goal\* doesn’t help the situation. In this Ace Hardware, every gardening or landscaping product had an embedded picture on the packaging design of horticultural atrocities, lawns, and things planted in rows. There was a section in the store where all I could see in all directions were Scott’s\* products. Do any of y’all get that feeling, when you are surrounded by bleak consumerist landscaping ...

A guide to changing your full name in DC in 2026

1d ago

Back in 2023, my friend changed their name and wrote a guide to help others through the process. When I went to follow the steps this year in 2026, I found that the process had changed enough that the information needed to be updated. Now that I'm (almost) finished, I figured it would be nice to share the information I've gathered in a public forum. The process is long, tedious, confusing, and bureaucratic. You will need to be patient. You will call places to update your name, and they will refer to you as your old name for the entirety of the interaction. Many institutions got my new name wrong, which required me to have to submit multiple requests for updates. Stay strong. If you...

First time getting Japanese packs

1d ago

I never thought I would see the day a hardware store has a better selection of Pokémon cards than the major retailers do. I happened to go into ace hardware and they had easily 50 different sets to pick from for singles. A good mix of English, Japanese and s-chinese sets. At least 15 different ETBs and quite a few different booster bundles. I've never purchased anything other than English so I decided I would try some Japanese sets. I went with mega dream and terastal festival. Nothing crazy but still got some cool cards for the collection.

I've been buying lawn and home gear from Ace Hardware for years — turns out March and April are the two months I ...

1d ago

My pattern with Ace Hardware for a long time was purely reactive. Something breaks, something runs out, I go to Ace. Occasionally I'd catch a sale, mostly I wouldn't. Didn't think there was much of a calendar to work with at a hardware store. Went through HotDeals' breakdown based on 3+ years of Ace Hardware historical sale data and their official Rewards and promotion analysis. The calendar is more structured than I expected — and the spring window specifically is something I'd been completely underutilizing. **March and April are the two strongest consecutive months on the Ace Hardware calendar, and both are rated high confidence.** March runs the Spring Saving...

A very workman-like Dutch Tool Chest for my small hand tools made from reclaimed redwood decking and cheap hardware stor...

2d ago

A while back ago I decided to switch to hand tools to make the very small boxes that I wanted to make because the power tools felt both unpleasant and overkill at that scale. And thusly I amassed way more tools than I expected and I needed a place to put them all. Now, I love the superb craftsmanship on this subreddit and I aspire to it someday, but for today I just needed a place to put my tools, fast and cheap. Inspired by the bodged creativity I see living out in the country here in the Pacific North West of the USA, I scraped together a Dutch tool chest from barely usable reclaimed redwood decking and Ace Hardware hardware. It's definitely doing the job nicely.

Tradesman Hardware Store - Denpasar/Seminyak area

2d ago

Hi All, I am looking for a more specialised hardware store in Bali (a grade well above Ace Hardware) to purchase some heavy duty brand name tools, such as Milwaulkee or Dewalt Professional range. Can anyone recommend a store that might carry a range of electric/battery tools of this type of quality? Thanks in advance, The Captain

Presentation of my DIY Drum Sander

3d ago

When building acoustic guitars it’s necessary to sand the tone woods for the sides thin enough to where they’ll bend and for the top to vibrate freely when you play the finished instrument. The tool required for that is not a thickness planer (which would shred thin stock) but instead a drum sander. Even the cheapest one on the market (by my research the Jett 16/32) can cost over $800 to purchase and aren’t available for sale in brick and mortar stores my area. This is my attempt to DIY a solution using materials that are a little more accessible from general hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware and Harbor Freight. It’s far from perfect (it makes a LOT of dust, vibr...

Bit of a rant and a question - new saw

3d ago

Rant: A few weeks ago I went to the local tractor dealer to buy a saw. They didn't have it in stock and I asked if they could order it (the guy tried to keep selling me on a different one even though I had specific reasons I wanted the other one). He said it would be a couple of weeks, which I was ok with. Fast forward 3 weeks and I call to find out what the status was. I get a really wishywashy answer on the phone. So I stopped by in person to try and get a straight answer. Long story short, they hadn't even ordered the saw. So, even though I was trying to avoid it, I ended up at Ace Hardware, and they had the saw I wanted in stock. The guy there was super helpful, knowledgeable...

Ace Hardware?

Does anyone know what's going into the Ace Hardware store by Kroger in New Holland? The for sale sign has said "under contract" for quite a while now.

Ace Hardware in Lombard cat

4d ago

Has anyone been to the Ace Hardware in Lombard recently? They have a cat that is kept in a cage pretty much all day. One of the workers said the cat has free reign over the store when they close, but I feel bad he's kept locked up with hardly any stimulation from 7:30am-8pm. I've been there at various times, and he's always laying on that bed. Sometimes he's awake and sometimes he's asleep.

This is Nate. He works at an Ace Hardware store.

He was very helpful finding me a m2-.4s3mm screw for my SSD. He even cut it down to size for me! A very helpful worker. Wish there was a tip jar for him

Easy, fairly cheap, gritty succulent mix

4d ago

Pretty much all succulent mixes from the store require amending. Wanted to share an easy option for beginners that avoids having to think about kitty litter or sand, and works great. It’s one 8qt bag of black gold succulent & cactus mix ($7.5) and one 8qt bag of pumice ($6). Both purchased at my local ace hardware and garden store. Mix both bags together in large container. It should look like the third picture, at least 50% inorganic. Of course your plants still need bright light. But this will hopefully prevent your plants from quickly rotting and feeling like you have a black thumb.

Ace Hardware offering nice deal for Searwood (for those waiting for a sale)

5d ago

Part posting this to help others but also to make sure I have this right. Ace hardware offering a deal for 3x points on Weber Grills over $399. Every $1 spent is 10 points, and every 2500 points gets you a $5 reward. Been a while since 2nd grade math but I think that would mean the searwood ($1,000) would get 30,000 points which equates to 12 $5 rewards or $60 in rewards. The XL grill would be more like $80 back in rewards. Normally Weber is one of those "excluded" brands but I think because this dral is specifically for Weber Grills, it should include the Searwood. And seeing as how the most they ever discount these grills is by $100, this is a pretty solid deal. I also checked ...
