I'm going to Japan, specifically Tokyo, in 3 days and I'm staying for a little over 2 weeks! I have a severe nut allergy to peanut and tree nuts where i get anaphylaxis if I eat them. I am going to have epipens with me and also allergy card. But I want to know if there are any specific food items at 7 eleven or family mart that is safe for me to eat when in need. I've tried to google it but i can't really find that much information on it. I also love sweets and trying new things so I'm hoping I can still have a good time in that regard. Any recommendations? i’ve spent a decent amount of time in japan recently and the way people talk about the konbini food online is just wild. like yeah, the egg sando is decent and the onigiri is fine for a quick snack, but i’ve seen people unironically saying it’s 'the best food in the country.' it’s literally mass-produced convenience food. if you’re skipping a local kissaten or a small ramen shop to eat at a 7-eleven because a tiktoker told you to, you’re doing it wrong. it’s not a 5-star meal, it’s just better than the sad sandwiches we have back home in the west. the obsession is starting to feel like a collective hallucination at this point.

Yes, the people are friendly, but everything else is the worst. Taiwan was such a letdown. I visited Taitung and Kaohsiung, and the scenery was honestly underwhelming. Xiaoyeliu is just a tiny, mediocre patch of rocks, nothing impressive at all. Right next to it is a so-called "Marine Reserve" that’s a total joke, it’s just a 100-meter stretch of water with a few tiny fish, it felt like a complete scam.
