Looking for a little inspiration for sauces

1h ago

Hey all, Just a little bit of background, I'm currently doing rolling 72 hour fasts (one singular refeed meal every 3 or so days), and am pescatarian, of course. One of the luxuries of doing a fasting protocol like mine is that I have the opportunity to really snazz up my meal without worrying too much about the grocery budget. I've had a lot of success, but I thought this would be a great place to get some new ideas. I currently eat fish or other seafood 1-2 times per week, and one of the things that I think I'm lacking on is a good repertoire of sauces and seasoning accompaniments for my fish. I eat a fair amount of salmon, as well as catfish, swai, tilapia, mahi, ahi...

Learn how to use Screener for business/research analysis. Complete guide with detailed examples.

1h ago

*Quick note before we start. This post uses real companies as examples to explain how to read data on Screener. The goal is to teach you how to use the tool, not to tell you what to buy or sell. You will not find a buy or sell recommendation anywhere in this post. That is deliberate. Understanding how to read a company's financial data and deciding what to do with that information are two completely separate skills. This post is about the first one only.* Go to screener.in and create a free account. *The free version gives you access to almost everything covered in this guide.* *I will flag the places where premium adds something genuinely useful so you know what you are and are not se...

Feral Colonies

1h ago

Anyone else have a feral population that has taken up residence in your home? How are they sustaining themselves in your case? How did it begin in the first place? Any stories of finding or capturing your squatters? Trapping methods? I want to hear about it! I fought so hard at first.. then I made an oops and left the door cracked a few hours after some chores. Apparently the lesson wasn’t learned because I left it cracked a whole night on another occasion. Each time, I tore the room apart looking for every escapee! There was a lot of drama recapturing the original girls. Found them all and everything was fine again until the eggs started hatching. In the early days of my colony, babie...

What a lot of people seem to get "wrong" about the HBO series, especially episode 5

1h ago

I am aware of the flaws in the HBO series and the fact that it is essentially based on a propaganda narrative. But I get the impression that many people are making a crucial mistake, especially when it comes to the infamous Episode 5: The series seems to promote the Soviet narrative of how events unfolded on that fateful night. A hot-tempered Dyatlov who breaks every rule and bullies everyone else. BUT: The events in the control room are presented as Legassov’s retrospective account WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE TRIAL. In other words, what we see there is not meant to be a verbatim account of the facts, but rather the exact narrative that was constructed in hindsight. Legassov is, of course,...

Losing weight at high rate even at high calories

1h ago

I need to get some kind of insight as to what is happening with my rate of loss. No TDEE calculator can see to replicate my real world rate of loss based on the data that I’m entering. For context I’m 36, male, 174 cm, CW 144lb (SW 188lb in July 2025). I started my weight loss journey and was very successful with losing. I hit my goal weight then have entered a reverse diet to find maintenance adding 200-250 calories every two weeks. My reverse started at 1800 calories then went 2000 > 2200 > 2450 > 2650 and now just completed my first week of two at 2850. All while “training” 4x per week and walking on average 15k steps a day. I use inverted commas for traini...

Flash Fiction

Advanced Research and Development: Flash Fiction Writing Exercises Flash fiction is often described as the "spontaneous fission of an atom" — a sudden, intense release of narrative energy contained within a microscopic space Medium. For the advanced writer, "Research and Development" (R&D) isn't just about finding facts; it's about experimenting with the structural integrity of language, testing the tensile strength of perspective, and discovering new ways to compress a universe into a few hundred words. This guide provides a comprehensive toolkit for advanced flash fiction development, designed for deep exploration in your subreddits. It...

Do any of you lift weights/do bodybuilding?

Just curious how you manage the plant based lifestyle with weighlifting. I tried before but was not recovering since I wasn't eating enough. Trying to figure out how to mix both worlds in an easy manner.

Agave Farming, Seeds

1h ago

Started playing on official 1.0 launch on my private server with friends. We got some Agave Seeds (Dune: Awakening feelings all over again) and planted some, left a few for the seed vault. But I see no option to craft/grind the agave crops back to seeds. Am I missing something? We're currently at Advancement of Bronze, about to enter Glow of Iron. Google didn't help, one result mentioned grinding but the recipe doesn't seem to exist, and another linked to a DUNE video.

35M4F, Looking for a feminist partner and a peaceful life

1h ago

Hey everyone, I’m 35, based in Pune (open to relocation), originally from the North. I work in the financial sector. I’m pretty active — gym and sports are a part of my life and I enjoy trekking sometimes as well. I regularly visit beaches. Mountains are great too, but beaches mostly, enjoy occasional surfing, sound of ocean waves and warm sand relaxes me.  I’d call myself an ambivert — I enjoy my own space, a good book, a game, or a series on a weekend, but I also like travelling, exploring new places, and the occasional deep dive into football tactics over coffee. I also understand how important space if for two people living together.  Considering Manchester United is my t...

AI helped me pick my new piano

1h ago

After playing a Roland HP-203 for 17 years, a special event pushed me towards upgrading. I played at my dad's funeral on a Yamaha CLP 665GP. It was so much better and easier to play the music as I wanted compared to my Roland. I used Claude to help me research differences, both technical and key feel, and which Yamaha models to go for. It also recommended Kawai based on how I explained what I liked about the Yamaha. I went to the showroom with a few models in mind I wanted to try based on Claude's suggestions. I went with the Kawai CA 501 due to the warm sound and softer edges on the keys compared to the Yamaha CLP 845, which was the other model I had in mind. I'...

Hot/warm take: AI is slowly ruining our perception of what being human is

1h ago

I can smell the "that one friend who is too woke" comments coming in I used to be pretty reliant on AI for basically everything. From my problems to schoolwork, heck, I even used it to give me art advice (I've stopped doing that already). Well I have made the decision to cut down my usage of AI (especially gen AI) aside from the fact that it's genuinely ruining the environment, but I realised I was losing the ability to actually think, especially critically and creatively, and when u step back to look at the bigger picture, with how often people are using AI for everything they do, I can't help but think, is AI slowly making as lose what it means to be human? I kn...

Rolled Oats: Looking for Brand Recs & Prep Tips

1h ago

Hey! So I’ve been using instant oats (the kinda powdery ones) for a long time now and I use them for literally everything from sweet to savory oats, even batters. They’re super convenient since I can just microwave them for like 2 minutes with water and it’s done. No soaking, no effort. But now I’m thinking of switching to **ROLLED OATS**, mainly for better texture and overall quality. I’m only looking for **PLAIN** or **UNFLAVORED** ones since I like to customize everything myself for **both sweet and savory.** I checked online and there are way **too many options** at very different prices, so I’m kinda confused. I’ve attached a picture with a bunch of brands I found, w...

Nothing is NATURAL/Foodchain about eating Meat-Dairy!!

1h ago

I keep seeing people defend animal agriculture by calling it “natural” or saying it’s just part of the food chain or that's how NATURE works! But if you really think about how modern animal agriculture works, that argument falls apart pretty quickly. Let's compare it to something people know ISN'T natural- Lab grown meat. What is lab meat, really? It’s cells, atoms and molecules, being provided with the right conditions, requirements, so they grow into animal tissue we recognize as meat. But now look at animal agriculture, it works just like lab-meat industries! We artificially inseminate animals (using collected semen), feed them food, pump them with supplements l...
