Appliance valve fitting

5d ago

Bought a 15mm push fit appliance valve to connect a dishwasher in the same location the previous owners had one. The current valve is very old (also plastic, but screw ends) and leaking through the valve front when water is turned on and dishwasher hose is connected. We were going mad trying to fit the new valve and have realised it won't go on because there is a bulge in the 15mm copper pipe. Photos are without and with current leaking valve. To save us tearing our hair out with endless trips to Toolstation - can someone please tell me what valve product I need or even better link me to it (ideally Toolstation as is walkable from us)? PS - we are aware of the poor condition of...

Flush Valve ID

Hi, Looking to replace this flush valve with an identical one that will fit the base as cannot easily access the cistern. It twists off and on. There are no brand names or anything on it. It is pneumatic and dual flush. Anyone know what make it is? I have tried this from Toolstation and it doesn't fit: [https://www.toolstation.com/macdee-pneumatic-dual-flush-valve/p86200?utm\_source=googleshopping%2CRakuten&utm\_medium=feed%2Caffiliates&utm\_campaign=googleshoppingfeed%2C1&utm\_content=Crowdstorm&ranMID=46390&ranLoyalty=0&ranEAID=VHmVwOFUO0M&ranSiteID=VHmVwOFUO0M-.\_w4kkcXr64t5.02JZUIoA](https://www.toolstation.com/macdee-pn...

(Nieuw) Elektrisch gereedschap voor klussen in nieuwe woning?

12d ago

Dehumidifier advice

13d ago

Hi all, Due to some rotten pointing in our roof, we’ve been experiencing quite a bit of leaking in our attic and finally got it fixed last week! We are now debating whether to have a dehumidifier in our attic for a while, along with a small fan heater, to try and help the drying process (it was likely leaking for a few months…). When I look at rentals, they seem to be expensive at £100+ per week. However, when you look at Toolstation, you can get one for less than £100! **So, the question is…** are the rented industrial ones worth it, or could I get away with buying a smaller one, or could we get away with not having one at all? Thanks!

How to fit dryer + washing machine on a single standpipe?

18d ago

So I looked up what I'm supposed to do, which led me to a Mcalpine standpipe twin connector [https://www.toolstation.com/mcalpine-v33wm-standpipe-twin-connector/p46717?store=BF](https://www.toolstation.com/mcalpine-v33wm-standpipe-twin-connector/p46717?store=BF) I bought one of these but now ran in to an issue. I have the same problem that someone had here [https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYUK/comments/19cyl17/condensing\_tumble\_dryer\_drain\_hose\_is/?rdt=37150](https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYUK/comments/19cyl17/condensing_tumble_dryer_drain_hose_is/?rdt=37150) which is that the pipe from the tumble dryer is really narrow. Are these Bosch drill bit sets the same type just with different shank types?

22d ago

[Toolstation - Bosch Expert CYL-9 Multi Construction TCT Drill Bit Set 4 Piece](https://www.toolstation.com/bosch-expert-cyl-9-multi-construction-tct-drill-bit-set/p51204) [Screwfix - Bosch Expert Hex Shank Multi-Material Drill Bits 5 Piece Set](https://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-expert-hex-shank-multi-material-drill-bits-5-piece-set/759ky) I can see that the shank type is different and one is 5 pieces and the other 4, but are the drilling ends the same type? I want to drill into bathroom tile and was going to get the one from toolstation when I came across the one from screwfix. The set of 5 is cheaper than the set of 4 from Toolstation. Thanks

230mm vs 300mm masonry grinder

23d ago

I need to cut a long trench through the concrete slab in my garage. Don't know if it's reinforced and I don't know how thick it is. I was planning on buying either: Evolution - Amazon - 230mm - £118 - 2kw or Evolution - Amazon- 300mm - £235 - 2.4kw Also available in screwfix/toolstation but more expensive Will I regret having the smaller disc? I know I could hire, but I've got other similar jobs to do so worth buying.

I posted a few days ago about putting up a shower caddy and curtain rail and got some good advice. I've managed to put the shower caddy up but trying to drill into the other tiled walled to fix the shower curtain rod has been impossible. For the shower caddy I drilled through the grout and behind the tile was brick. For the curtain rod, I have to drill through the middle of the tile, I assume it's brick behind this wall. The other end of the curtain rod will go just above a bathroom window, I assume it's all brick? What I've got with me 1. “Easy Fit” Metal Fence/Railing Kits

27d ago

I’ve seen a few of these easy fit railing kits where you run a spike between the railings to secure it in the ground. I’m looking to create a play area for the toddler on the patio this spring and thought the system is reasonably priced and easy to fit. Here is one: https://www.toolstation.com/apollo-easy-fit-fence-panel/p59206 I’m looking to install half of it on sandstone paving and half of it in the grass. The grass should be easy as it will hammer into the ground. For the sandstone, I’m thinking of grinding out a 5cm square, driving the spike down and then adding cement for the last 15cm or so for extra strength. Thoughts on these systems?

Cistern fixing/screws

28d ago

What screw kits would you recommend for securing a close coupled cistern to the wall? Wall is brick/pb\*/T&G cladding. Feel like I am having a special moment, or being indecisive, a lot of kits appear to be for the pans and the couple of cisterns I've previously had to remove for repair the wall screws have been rusted. Screwfix, Toolstation and city plumbing are my nearest. Also anyone else **** having to align and then tighten the seat, especially the crunch as it tightens? \*I think we had the solid wall overboarded, honestly can't remember now.

Kitchen cupboard hinge repair plate

28d ago

My kitchen cupboard door wasn’t straight and the holes were knackered so I got these hinge repair plates from screwfix. But now the cupboard door seems to have dropped more and I’ve tried adjusting and can’t get it straight for the life of me. Do I need to use both repair plates on both hinges or can you just use one on the loose hinge? Any other advice?

1/4" or 6mm screws?

28d ago

Afternoon all, I have needed to replace the garage door lock but on sawing down the spindle to fit, I find the screws too long now. Would be easier for me to replace with shorter screws than sawing these down too, should I assume the screws provided are metric or imperial? https://www.toolstation.com/sterling-garage-door-handle/p84559 Cheers
