Who makes music specifically for B&M stores?

4d ago

I went in B&M recently and the music in the store is so devoid of life. Most other stores have actual licensed pop music (Specsavers plays some bangers, as does Morrisons) but B&M is different. AI generated, mind-numbing lyrics, soulless beats, vocals weaker than a dying frog and generic song subject matter plague the radio of a Bargains & More store. I want to know. Who makes music for B&M? I’ve never heard the same song in B&M be played anywhere else (like at a Poundland) so maybe the music is being produced by B&M. If so, do the musicians know they’re only being played in B&M and are ok with that? If I was a musician, I would...

Store Recommendations UK

4d ago

So, I look bad in black glasses and glasses that are very bold. I don't look edgy and cool, I look like a badger. What i like are top heavy, rectangle glasses, simple, non-neon colours (e.g. no tortoise shell), and with colours that suit my warm autumn colouring. Warm metallic pink is my favourite, but green and golden pairs are okay too. The ones below are the best I could find from so many shops and am currently wearing, but honestly they are not prefect. Can anyone recommend a suitable store/brand for me? [https://www.specsavers.co.uk/glasses/paprika?sku=30265110](https://www.specsavers.co.uk/glasses/paprika?sku=30265110)

Incorrect prescription (UK)

10d ago

I had my eyes tested at Specsavers and explained to the optician I needed the lower section of the bifocals for intermediary use, not for reading, so I could see my laptop, car display, and prices in shops etc, without removing my glasses. Since I didn’t find any frames I liked in-store, after visiting a couple of other opticians, bought glasses (clear and sunglasses) from Asda using the prescription provided by Specsavers. However, the lower section is incorrect - I have to get very close to the laptop or else my vision is blurry, suggesting the lower section was made for reading, which I don’t need. I am not sure where I stand as Asda have made the glasses in accordance with the pre...

I know people would shame me for buying cookies in WW, but why even cookies are imported from Australia?

Especially for large corpos like WW, they can set up a bakery in NZ, use local ingridients, hire local workers, and contribute to local economy, right? \*inhales copium. want glasses? specsavers sends your made-in-China frame to Australia to simpily cut the made-in-Europe (or possibly made-in-China again) lenses and sends them back, which may take weeks and emit tons of CO2 in logistics, while i...

Uk London fashionable glasses stores

13d ago

Does anyone know of any fashionable glasses stores in the UK? Preferably somewhere with a physical store in London so I can try on before buying. Happy to invest a fair bit into the frames since I’ll have to wear them every day. I’ve been told my eyes have gotten worse and I need to wear glasses quite frequently now, but I’ve looked around specsavers & vision express and I don’t like any of the styles they have.

Reglazing Glasses

22d ago

I have designer sunnies that is not prescription. I want to get them reglazed with prescription lenses, to make it normal prescription glasses, but not sure where to go because most of the Google search results show online stores. I found one physical store, but it’s in NSW. Does anyone know a place in Melbourne (any suburb is fine, it doesn’t have to be the CBD) that does reglazing or allows BYO frames? Or does Specsavers offer this service?

Affordable progressive lens opticians?

24d ago

UPDATE: I ended up going to Factory Optical with a pair of older but in excellent shape frames, based on 3 friends with fussy progressive prescriptions, and I'm super happy with the lenses, price point, and frame adjustments. Where can I go for progressives? Places like Bailey&Nelson and Kits don't work for me. Specsavers, maybe..... suggestions appreciated. Must be in-store as ordering progressives online is a recipe for failure. Thanks! EDIT: i'm happy to bring the frames I have to someone, but most opticians won't do that without a fuss. You lose any guarantee.

Specsavers and the cost of a single replacement lens.

26d ago

So I put a rather large gouge in my glasses last week, and I went into the original Specsavers store I bought the glasses from. Apparently, because the prescription in their records is over two years old, I need a new eye test. Firstly, wut? My vision with the current prescription is great, why would I need to update it? And secondly, why am I being told I *have* to have a test just to secure a replacement lens?? It's like asking a car mechanic to replace a tyre only to have them tell me I need a full mechanical check up before they proceed. Anyway, the cost get calculated - $330. For ONE replacement lens. That includes the eye test, the "special" thin lens, and install. T...

Can Specsavers keep my eye test data for themselves?

28d ago

As the title says, I’ve had an eye test and the employee refused to give me my test results on paper because I could take them to another store. She “doesn’t work for third parties”. I understand that they want to sell glasses/lenses themselves, but aren’t my eye test results considered my medical information? Don’t I have a legal right to access my own data? At Ace&Tate they never made a problem of this. Curious for your thought on if I’m entitled to this data or just making a fuss.

Are there any other places to buy glasses apart from the main stores like OPSM/Specsavers etc?

34d ago

I’ve looked at OPSM, specsavers, Bailey Nelson and Oscar Wylee and they don’t really have the oversized style that I like and if they do, it’s over $400+ and that’s not in my budget Can we take our frames to any of these places so that they can just insert the glass lense? Cheers

Specsavers store manager threatened me on phone call

38d ago

TL;DR: the specsavers store messed up my order twice, and not wanting to fulfill their own 100-day guarantee. Instead of apologizing for their incompetence, the Sydney central branch store called me personally to harass me saying “we’re never making glasses for you at our store again” and told me she’s made a note to Chatswood branch to do the same, in an attempt to override Australian consumer law wow. After reporting it to their head office multiple times more than 3 weeks ago. I got no explanation, no apology, no update, nothing from the Specsavers team in Australia at all. Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/aussie/s/k1S51TjF6g I’m now escalating this incident to the UK...

Recently moved to the UK, are in store glasses prices reasonable here or is online still better?

41d ago

I’ve just moved to the UK for work and I’m still figuring out how a lot of everyday things work here. Unfortunately, one of my first mishaps happened on the metro, my glasses didn’t survive the commute and broke. Now I need glasses as I can't spend a second without them. Back home, I usually ordered my glasses online from firmoo because the quality was always decent and the prices made sense, so I never really bothered with physical stores. Now that I’m here, I’m wondering if it’s worth switching to in store options instead or if online here also tends to be better value. I see places like specsavers and other opticians everywhere but I don't know if they provide reas...

Where to find reasonably priced glasses?

41d ago

Hello again lads, cheers for the advice on suits last time. Im now looking for reasonably priced glasses, id like to avoid Specsavers if possible. Its a tad ignorant of me but I just can't seem to get my head around that site firmooso id rather actually go into a store. If its any help I have small eyes and a tiny head so big lenses with the frames are a no go (I don't wanna end up looking like Woody Allan or Iris Apfel 😅) Anyway, any help is much appreciated!

Opticians that focus on low nose bridge/Asian face shape

55d ago

I'm trying to futureproof because I can't sustainably fly to Japan every couple of years just to buy glasses, and the last time I asked about refitting lenses Specsavers wanted a king's ransom for it (and they had no idea what low nose bridge was). Where do you get your glasses if you have a low nose bridge? I would prefer in-store because I gambled on Kits and the fit was a lie. Closer to Surrey the better if possible, but will absolutely travel if highly recommended. Thank you.

Frustrated in part

68d ago

Because of not knowing that every 3 yrs i need an eye exam n my glasses are covered so from now on I'll not do a eye exam till fall of '28 in order to have my glasses covered by dec that yr or by Jan '29. Its so frustrating when they seriously didn't say anything to tell those of us on pwd. So just freaking great. Once moved to Vancouver island I'll be sure that I tell whoever the eye dr is at the time not to book me something till late '28 most likely dec so I can get it all covered in Jan '29 smh. Gotta freaking love ministry on the bs that isn't covered much. Idk y but this is totally ridiculous n massively bs. So yeah no more going to a place wh...

Ortho k lenses

83d ago

Does anyone know anyplace in Glasgow, particularly south Lanarkshire or city centre that offers ortho k lenses? Tried looking online but can’t really find anything. Specsavers website says to phone up local stores but just wanted to ask around first before I start calling. Thanks!

What companies stock smart glasses in store so we can try them for fit/style and/or smart features?

84d ago

I'm considering smart glasses, but want to make sure I am happy with a style that fits my face and ideally try some features (mainly sound quality). But ordering some online and sending them back to try another pair etc seems like agro. I checked Specsavers when I went for my eye test and they didn't have any in store.
