Kids glasses.

1d ago

My 4 year old needs glasses so we got him a two for one deal at specsavers a couple of months ago. Within. A week of two one of the arms had snapped off so we switched to his backup pair and then that arm snapped off. We took them in and they fixed them under warranty but the exact same thing happened again not long after. So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what stores and brands have stood the test of their kids and won. Something durable and not gonna break immediately.

I don't like Specsavers, Opera Lane. Do you?

4d ago

I'm in my 20s but I don't like how young the staff seem to be. Even the optometrist looked barely out of college. Doesn't fill me with confidence, and I'd prefer to see older, more experienced people in there. Not very good experience overall. I was left waiting near the front door queue for around 10 minutes even though staff could clearly see me and the other people waiting. The store wasn’t very busy, and staff were loudly gossiping and giggling about their weekend plans instead of acknowledging customers. I was then brought downstairs to the eye test area. The optical assistant who took my details and did the initial scan never properly explained that I would have...

Low Diopter - Cheap versus expensive glasses?

4d ago

I'm in my late 40s and had laser surgery in my 20s. I'm now around -1, and I'm looking at glasses 4 driving. I'm in Australia and my health fund covers up to about $200 each year. What's the difference between cheap and expensive glasses frames? Some stores sell frames that sell from 600+ from fashion brands Gucci, Prada, etc. And then places like specsavers sell $200 for 2 pairs single vision. I've read about all the claims quality and durability all that kind of thing. But it's 2026, surely they can make metal frames that don't melt from your sweat? And materials, really you're using <40g of material in each pair. surely that&#...

Seeking feedback on complete five-page comic script

5d ago

Looking for feedback on this five-page slice-of-life script. Any input on panel and page flow, number of panels per page, amount of direction, and quantity of dialogue would be very appreciated. I'm particularly concerned at having seven panels on the final page, especially given the setting is quite cluttered, so feedback on what to cut would be great. **Page 1 - 5 panels (4 plus title)** **TITLE PANEL**  **A Matter of Perspective** SETTING: The interior of a glasses shop, with rows of frames and mirrors at regular intervals. One wall is the men's side of the store (left side if looking toward the front of the store, right side if looking toward the rear) and the other ...

Advice for new glasses wearer

6d ago

UPDATE: Ok I definitely missed the part on my receipt (clearly blind lmao) that says -$360 for promotion on my polarised lenses. So I guess that $340 is the cost of my ONE PAIR of Rx lens and then lens add ons, it came up to $385. This clears things up for me (seriously no pun intended lmao) but if you still have any useful advice or recommendations for me as a new user, I’m all ears… and all 4 eyes now haha… omg sorry I’ll stfu ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ ) ———————————————————- I went to specsavers for my first ever eye test not knowing what I was in store for. I needed an eye check but apparently being vision impaired is quite expensive! The bulk billed...

Help ! How to make men’s glasses fit smaller female face?

13d ago

My current glasses are the clear rounded pair, they fit pretty well. I’ve since fallen in love with the orange pair. When I tried on in store, they were noticeably loose. I spoke with staff but she was pretty dismissive when I asked if anything could be done to help them fit better, she also didn’t tell me that they were men’s and as I’m a very petite women, that’s likely why they’re big. Is there any way I could make them fit? I’ve looked everywhere for a close alternative but can’t find any :( thanks

Thinking of switching from Optometry pathway to Commerce — need honest advice please!!

21d ago

Hi guys, first time posting here. I’m looking for some honest opinions and insights because I’m feeling pretty unsure about my direction right now. I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland with the goal of applying for Optometry in second year. I know there are only around 40 seats which honestly feels pretty stressful because a lot of people I know are aiming for them as well. Even though I think I could get decent grades, I don’t think it would be all As. I also don’t really have the passion to completely give up my lifestyle for it. I like going out, relaxing, and heading into the city whenever I get the chance. I don’t really want to be som...

Specsavers in Morley NOT A GOOD STORE

23d ago

I previously have gne to specsavers in Morley but I am finding that the prescription over the last 12 mnths has been incorrect and I ave had to revert to my previous prescription to enable me to read better. The lat pair of specs I got from them had the left lens fall out 3 times and whem I took them back they sent them back and got me a new but same type of frame. I left their shop and went into the shop next door and took the specs out to read a price nd the right lens popped out. Upon returning them again I ws offered a more expensive frame without any discount. I explained that they had supplied faulty goods and should cover the extra$50 but they refused. I left the shop and told my hea...

Specsavers lost my glasses

26d ago

Went into Specsavers here in Australia today to pick up my pair of glasses i paid roughly $350AU for and was told they've been marked as picked last week. It normally takes specsavers 2 weeks to have your glasses so there is no way I could have picked them up last week. I also just got the text message about them being available to pick up on yesterday. I get told that after them looking for my glasses for 30 minutes there is nothing they can do until the "manager" gets in on Wednesday. I call customer support and explain the situation, they then call the store who then calls me and reiterates there's nothing they can do until Wednesday until the "director" ...

Specsavers

30d ago

Anyone work at Specsavers? I just went for a job interview, but wanted to speak to someone about the learning that needs to be done while working there and whether it’s worth it. I feel like the pay is too low for the amount of work they want to be done. Also, the managers had told me that the staff do all the cleaning of the store - I know Specsavers is partly owned individually by separate directors, but is this a normal thing that occurs at Specsavers?

Specsavers lies?

38d ago

Hei, When going to a glasses store (specsavers) for maybe getting contact lenses the øyelege at the store said I needed progressive glasses even though I am 26 yo and i see fine with my current glasses -1.0. Has anyone experienced that they would give you misleading information in order for you to buy new glasses?

I’ve got my first Orient (and I was wrong about the colour!)

51d ago

I’ve bought a second-hand Orient from a reputable eBay store, and got a very good deal. This is my first Orient Watch, as well as my first automatic diver. I’m so excited, as I always spend hours looking at divers in shops, but I was looking for something that wouldn’t break the bank, but would still look classic and has that Japanese heritage, like the Seikos I love. When I saw the eBay photos (3 and 4), I was sure the watch was going to be black, and confused as the eBay description reported a blue dial. Surely, both myself and the seller should get checked as specsavers. Love this green, and I love even more than depending on the light I seem to get a different watch!

56d ago

“Amplifon has outlined plans to buy the entire hearing business of GN Store Nord in a deal valued at 2.3 billion euros, or about $2.64 billion. With closure expected by the end of this year, Denmark-based GN will exit the healthcare space and will focus fully on professional and consumer audio-video gear—with its multiple brands spanning earbuds, headphones and speakers, among other products. Meanwhile, from its home in Milan, Amplifon said it plans to preserve GN Hearing’s unique identity and recognition while becoming a combined company housing more than 20,000 employees, including 700 in R&D, and owning the rights to more than 2,800 patents. “Today marks a turning poin...

Looking for prescription sunglasses

56d ago

Hi, I'm trying to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses for when I drive, but outside of expensive opticians like Specsavers, I don't know the best places to look. It is worth noting I have something called BVD on my prescription which I've heard isn't taken by some online stores. If true, does anyone know any stores that will take in into account? Is it even needed? Thank you.

Trying to run a eyewear experiement

59d ago

There is a lot of animosity around online stores because people are so used to spending hundreds on glasses without realizing they’ve often been paying huge markups on mass produced frames. At the same time, there are also people who are used to the £30–£40 range who might still feel hesitant about spending more, even when it’s relatively affordable. Of course, there can be downsides with certain types of lenses like progressive lenses where precise, in-person measurements can make a difference. But overall, from what I’ve seen and heard, people who’ve tried them tend to be pretty satisfied. I just purchased two pairs of prescription glasses to compare. One is an £600 ...

Quality at Optician Chain Store vs. Eye Doctor?

68d ago

Last time I got a new pair of glasses, I got them through my eye doctor and they were paid for by my parents. Now, I am going to be paying for them myself, so I've been looking at cheaper options. I don't want to buy online, as I'm really particular about frame shape and color, and would like to try on before buying. Is there really a difference in quality between a chain store like Specsavers or Pearle Vision, and the optometrist I go to that is charging more? I do have a stronger prescription, so I want to make sure whatever I get will be the best quality, even if I have to pay more. TIA!

Who makes music specifically for B&M stores?

72d ago

I went in B&M recently and the music in the store is so devoid of life. Most other stores have actual licensed pop music (Specsavers plays some bangers, as does Morrisons) but B&M is different. AI generated, mind-numbing lyrics, soulless beats, vocals weaker than a dying frog and generic song subject matter plague the radio of a Bargains & More store. I want to know. Who makes music for B&M? I’ve never heard the same song in B&M be played anywhere else (like at a Poundland) so maybe the music is being produced by B&M. If so, do the musicians know they’re only being played in B&M and are ok with that? If I was a musician, I would...

Store Recommendations UK

73d ago

So, I look bad in black glasses and glasses that are very bold. I don't look edgy and cool, I look like a badger. What i like are top heavy, rectangle glasses, simple, non-neon colours (e.g. no tortoise shell), and with colours that suit my warm autumn colouring. Warm metallic pink is my favourite, but green and golden pairs are okay too. The ones below are the best I could find from so many shops and am currently wearing, but honestly they are not prefect. Can anyone recommend a suitable store/brand for me? [https://www.specsavers.co.uk/glasses/paprika?sku=30265110](https://www.specsavers.co.uk/glasses/paprika?sku=30265110)
