I want to resolve tomorrow and I'm not sure if it has to do with the white plastic item placement or some other issue. Any suggestions on how to investigate / fix the issue? Or if I need to buy a new one what store would I be going to? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Edit: I'll pop to B&Q or Screwfix tomorrow. 👍 Blanking cap35d agoHi there , so our store room was previously a toilet block and has two (110) soil pipes in the ground ( it was either 2 loos or 2 showers ) we don’t know .. anyways it looks like they were capped with concrete and either due to a blockage or just seeping through the concrete the store room has the odd puddle liquid ( not going to say water ) or is constantly damp .. We were going to drill out the concrete and use a couple of these : https://www.screwfix.ie/p/mcalpine-push-fit-drain-blanking-cap-black-110mm/4331v To try plug them .. So anyone know if these are suitable to permanently block up a pipe and how best to make them watertight ( also I assume best put in with some lube if so w... I've installed an inline fan up in the loft and all that's left is the ducting. I bought one of these covers but turns out my ceiling is over 2cm think (image of the core thickness also attached), so the fans don't pop out the other side to clip it into place. This means that it just falls out of the hole when I'm trying to get the ducting attached. I've tried running some sealant around it before attaching but I'm not sure that's a long term fix. I could try shaving the wings off but it would still need some sort of glue to keep it in place. I'm struggling to find a different design online, so what would be the best course of action? Steelies to buy63d agoLooking for a place to pick up a pair of steel toe capped shoes or boots where I can try them on before buying. I’d also not like to spend an arm and a leg. B&Q, Screwfix seem to not stock them in store, so looking for another outlet ideally. Decorator / Hardware Stores for Filler?64d agoHi All, I am from the UK and soon to be installing a sculpture in Shanghai, a place I've never been! I need to find a body filler like the one in the picture that I can get locally. Does anyone know what the Shanghai-equivalent-product is and where I can find it? Any knowledge on hardware stores like B&Q / Screwfix / Wickes is gratefully welcomed. Best place for chicken wire?64d agoI've got a couple raised beds out front that seem to attract the neighbourhood foxes and cats. I grew veg in them last year and roped them off but would like a better protection for this coming year so I was thinking of putting chicken wire around the edges. I reckon Woodies would have some but are there any ag stores near/in Dublin where it might be cheaper/better quality/wider variety? Would a place like Screwfix be my best bet? What tool also from screwfix would allow a nice clean cut on this trunking ?67d agoPIV unit help68d agoHi, I’ve recently purchased a PIV unit. I have plug socket in my attic fed from another socket on the landing. The PIV unit has come without a plug and states it should be hard wired. I’ve been told the units dont use much power and are low voltage..? Would it be safe to fix a plug socket onto the end of the cable & plug into the existing socket? Thanks for any help, my electrical knowledge is zero 🤦♂️😅😂 Can I use vapor barrier under engineered wood on the first floor69d agoHello, I'm currently redoing two first floor bedrooms - I did all the prep like screwing down the loose chipboard flooring, applied patch self-leveller, sanded away dried paint plaster and leveller, put down sound insulating overboards (basically MDF with 8mm felt on the bottom), and was laying out a layer of acoustic rubber on top. I will be putting engineered wood on top. I discovered that I'd ordered too little rubber matting and now I won't have enough to cover the second room and the hallway. The matting I bought was from a soundproofing store, so it didn't have foil on the back. I'm now thinking about getting rubber matting from Wickes or Screwfix; however, t...
