UK supermarket tin recs?

2d ago

hi guys! I'm pretty new to the tinned fish world but I love trying stuff with loads of variety and I'm excited to delve in. I'm wondering if there's any recommendations of brands or anything available in UK supermarkets? sainsburys morrisons aldi and the like. I love looking at the tins but I'm overwhelmed by choice lmao. I'm down to try anything, any recs appreciated. likely to be served on crackers but I'm also happy to try other combinations. If I remember correctly I've tried a cheap mackrell in sunflower oil and also this fancy octopus \[?\] one I got at a market with a pretty tin. unsure the brands on either but I was a fan of both. I enjoy che...

Controversial development plans have been revealed for Brick Lane’s Truman Brewery

3d ago

Not Truman Brewery, Im with the nimbys on this one, the indoor food market, vintage clothes market are great, a nice day out on the weekend. Also rough trad east is iconic. And for a data centre and flats? Will developers not be satisfied until anything interesting in London is a generic new build/sainsburys and chain retail stores.

I’m 18 and have invested for the first time- is this alright?

The idea of “burgernomics” has long been used as an informal way of comparing national economies, essentially by using the Big Mac as a measure of purchasing power. But the cost of a burger is also, of course, a barometer of something more basic: the price of beef itself. Over the past few years, this has notably [soared in Britain](https://archive.vn/o/A4dIg/https://www.telegraph.co.uk/bus...

I lost my best friend over self harm and I don't know what to do

10d ago

Hi I (18F) am in university and recently lost my best friend X (18M) and I don't know why and how to deal with it. Apologies in advance as this will be a length post. Trigger warning: SA and self harm. I'll give some background first. I've known X for two years due to an event we both attended over a common interest and we quickly became friends. Due to this common interest we have a lot of mutual friends and attended multiple events together and now even attend university together in the same course (related to the common interest - we applied together as well as with a few other friends). Me and X didn't hang out too much as we both had quite busy schedules but did try...

EverHint Latest Market News — January 9, 2026 (last 24 hours) — Breaking Developments

10d ago

## Executive Summary Markets climbed to fresh record highs as the S&P 500 notched another all-time peak on soft jobs data that kept rate-cut expectations intact, while European indices also closed at records driven by mega-merger optimism. The dominant narrative centers on unprecedented M&A activity—Glencore and Rio Tinto reopened merger talks that could create the world's largest mining company, while Merck pursues a potential $32 billion acquisition of Revolution Medicines in biotech's largest recent deal. Beneath the surface bullishness, General Motors' $6 billion EV writedown signals mounting pressure on legacy automakers' electric transition, and T...

European pet food market share breakdown: Mars, Nestlé, and the rise of private label

39d ago

*Note: Market share figures in this analysis represent averages and synthesis from multiple research sources (FEDIAF, Euromonitor, Circana, Mordor Intelligence). Different research firms use varying methodologies and market definitions, so some statistical variations may exist. All figures should be considered approximate estimates rather than precise measurements.* The European pet food market is massive at €29.3 billion (2023), but when you look at who actually controls it, the picture is more concentrated than you might think. I've spent time analyzing market data from FEDIAF, Euromonitor, and Circana to understand how the market breaks down across three distinct categories: **C...

Hello, future splitters 👋🏼

44d ago

This post is a bit of a “day one” marker. Right now, I’m writing this to an audience of zero. But I’m assuming that at some point people will stumble across this subreddit and read this post retrospectively. Over the past four months, alongside my 9 to 5 job, I’ve been building a personal project called Scan ’n’ Split. I’ve just finished v1.0, and it is ready to ship to some early users for some feedback. This is the first time I’ve put something I’ve built out into the world. What problem am I trying to solve? Two very real, very mundane problems I kept running into in my own life. 1. Shared grocery bills My partner and I aren’t married and we have separate financ...

How to get an IT entry level role

46d ago

Hi guys, This is actually for my brother as I work in the Biomedical field. My brother graduated from Uni studying Digital Technology back in 2023 and has had no luck in achieving a role, with his last interview being in Sept 2024. Which is quite a while now and I am sure that his CV and applications may need quite a lot of extensive tailoring to stand out when applying to applications. I know IT is quite a competitive field and that jobs will be very difficult to get but not impossible. With the job market opportunities being limited and competitive how do I get him ahead of the game? How can I help my brother out and essentially get him into the field? What jobs do I need to look for? Wh...
