Unlimited plan for international use

7d ago

Hi Guys, This might be a little unique situation. So I live in both the US and the UK (I split my time between both countries) and I also have a sim only (US equivalent of prepaid) in the UK and a AT&T prepaid sim for the US. They are both E-Sims on my 17 Pro Max. I’m currently paying $40 a month with AT&T and was told MintMobile is offering the 12 month unlimited plan for $180 upfront. Now my main use of my US number while I’m abroad is to receive text codes for 2FA/MFA for work related logins for US side applications that we host, I wanted to know that would the unlimited plan allow me to receive these messages while in the UK? I’m not interested in using data etc w...

More than 30 mobile masts upgraded to boost rural 4G in Scotland

21d ago

The Shared Rural Network (SRN) is a jointly-funded programme by the UK government and mobile network operators EE, Virgin Media, O2 and VodafoneThree. A total of 105 mobile masts have been upgraded across the UK - 33 are in Scotland, in areas like the Highlands and the Borders. Up to 44 more new masts are planned for Scotland before January 2027. Telecoms Minister Liz Lloyd said the investment would help rural areas "attract the investment, jobs and tourism they need to thrive." The areas where the masts have been upgraded include Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders, the Highlands, Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire and Angus. It has been estimated that the masts across the UK will bring...

Issue using roaming in Prague

21d ago

Hi, I joined 1p mobile recently and went with an eSIM since the option was available. It worked perfectly fine in the UK, but now that I’m in Prague trying to use my data roaming, I only get edge and don’t have 4g. I tried manually changing the network to O2 and Vodafone but it didn’t help. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue might be? Is it cause the esim option is new and therefore has some issues? I also tried to check my APN settings based on online suggestions but it seems like the APN settings aren’t available for my 1p sim (I can see the APN settings for my Three sim. Any suggestions on how I could fix this would be really appreciated.

Help with cellular setup for child

24d ago

So I bought my daughter an SE3 cellular (UK) and I can’t for the life of me figure out how on earth to get an eSIM up and running. I’ve set her up with a child Apple ID, and set the watch up for a child. So far so good. But when I try to add an eSIM, it tells me that my current O2 carrier isn’t compatible… which is odd, because I’m not trying to use MY mobile contract. I want to activate an independent eSIM with its own number on her watch. So she can use it for calls and texts etc, as she doesn’t yet have a phone (holding off as long as humanly possible). I’ve looked around, and the only 2 options that seem to work in the U.K. for Apple’s “Apple Watch For Kids” pro...

Is O2 now the worst-performing mobile network in the UK?

Is O2 now the worst-performing mobile network in the UK?

What's the best mobile network for mobile data in Scotland? O2/Giffgaff is basically unusable now

36d ago

I've been with Giffgaff for over a decade now, but after Huawei were ordered to decommission all their equipment across the UK, my mobile data signal has dropped off a cliff and it looks like O2 has no immediate plans to fill the gaps . I have a 90 minute daily commute in the morning and I'd say that for approx. 80% of the journey nothing will load. Even at my place of work all our Ingenico card payment terminals have had to be replaced because they all stopped working due to loss of or no signal. I've have, with genuine sincerity, been to developing countries that have a better mobile network than the UK right now and it's embarrassing. What is everybody using...

Airtime Rewards: Earn money back on your shopping to put towards your mobile bill

39d ago

Airtime Rewards is a mobile app that helps you save on your phone bill just by shopping. Once you download the app and link your bank cards, you’ll automatically earn cashback whenever you spend at participating retailers — all listed in the app. Popular stores like Boots (4%) and Argos (2%) are included, so you can rack up rewards from your everyday purchases. There are two ways to earn cashback: Using your linked cards at partner retailers. Buying gift cards through the app. All your earnings are collected in the app’s “Rewards” section. Once you’ve accumulated £10 or more, you can apply it directly to your mobile phone bill. Airtime Rewards supports most major UK netw...

Is this normal?

48d ago

I’ve just moved over to Lebara from O2, got a cracking sim only deal for Black Friday. Is this normal that you have to change settings yourself? I’ve changed carriers numerous times over the last 25+ years and have never had to manually change any settings on my phone.

Advice on LTE and 4G (Samsung Galaxy S22)

55d ago

Hi, Please can someone help 😀 See 1st photo - on my Samsung Galaxy S22, there is no reference to 4G in the preferred network drop-down. It also says: "Use LTE data networks for calls whenever possible". My partner's phone (2nd pic) says" "Use 4G data networks for calls whenever possible", and 4G is on the drop-down. Same phone (Samsung Galaxy S22), same network/provider (Tesco Mobile in the UK, which uses the O2 network). Is this a problem? Why are they different? Thank you 😊

Someone just called from my number?

60d ago

Not sure if this is the right sub, but I just had a weird experience. I just received a call from an unknown mobile number (07...... in the UK), but I ignored it because I'm at work. A couple minutes later I decide to ring back because I'm waiting to hear back from another job offer. Lady on the other end asks "who are you?". I say "Im u/ frenchtoast, I'm phoning because I just had a missed call from this number?" She replies "Oh. I was phoning because I had a missed call from YOUR number?". I let her know I didn't ring her in the first place, and sorry to bother her and hang up. I definitely didn't call her first. The number doesn&#...

The Freediver skin is a lot easier to get than you think

60d ago

I've now got what might possibly be one of my favourite skins now. And guess what?! I DON'T EVEN USE O2! For those who don't know, O2 are a mobile network in the UK who collabed with Fortnite back in 2021 for the Easy Life concert (Now called Hard Life). I've seen statements saying you need the O2 "Priority Plan" to get the skin. It's not a plan, it's an app that ALL O2 users can sign into with their account, and you can even sign in with a Virgin Media account, who are a UK broadband provider. That's TWO WAYS to sign in to Priority. And you don't need to link accounts, you get a code to redeem on the Fortnite website. This code gives you the...

O2 UK Hit Customer with £1,000 Bill After Losing their Mobile Number

Which mobile service offers truly worldwide roaming?

69d ago

I'm moving to the UK. I currently use Verizon in the US which allows roaming in 200+ countries with pretty good data/minutes. I travel a lot for work and don't want the hassle of add-ons or limited service in other countries. Is there a UK mobile plan where I can pay them a bunch of money and my phone works everywhere? Edit: * Looks like O2 Ultimate plan has most countries. But speed is capped at 2Mbp. * 3's Complete plan covers most countries. 12GB/m for roaming, maybe some limits on calls while roaming. * Vodafone Xtra Global Roam covers fewer countries, 25GB/m for roaming.

Replacing Mobile (Scotland. UK)

76d ago

So, if you read my previous entries into this subreddit, you'll know that my phone was taken and found as the offending article, and therefore will be destroyed once sentencing is finalised. This has been a particular bummer for me, as while I understand why and accept this has to happen, it was an expensive new phone that I am set to be paying off for some years yet. My Dad did offer to pay it off for me so I could start afresh, but I really don't want to impose that on him as he's bailed my brother and I out too many times before (metaphorically speaking) and I don't really think it's his place to either. He also may need to help with legal costs depending on if I...
