Latest Comments & Reviews & Feedback & Social Media Sharing of the Thrift Store Latest Community Discussions About Thrift StoresPlace to shop / diy's as an emo teen?5h ago( 15F ) now in the position to where I can start expressing my emo/ grunge appearance and was wondering, where can I shop for clothes? I love DIY's as I've started decorating my converse and other shoes I've heard thrift stores have good clothes but I was wondering if it's appropriate to shop at stores such as Hot Topic and spencerse for things such as band tees, piercing jewelary and little trinkets and accessories. Let me know :) thank you all for the help!! Anyone else **** shopping (but struggle to control impulse buys???)6h agoThe worst of both worlds :) It’s like I lack a sense of style for myself, my weight fluctuates constantly, and I don’t know what brands/cuts/cloths will fit me, suit me, not make me feel like I’m playing dress up, and not make me go insane from the way the cloth or tightness (or looseness) feels. I’ll FINALLY find something that works for me, generally purely by accident at a discount shop or thrift store, so no chance of buying again. So, buying clothes feels like a huge risk: it’s expensive when you want to get good quality stuff, which I do, because I don’t want to have to replace cheap **** and toss in a landfill every year, but it feels like I’ll buy stuff and then end up... What happened to the thrift stores??6h agoIve been here for about 2 years now and dont have a big comparison, but my roommate has lived here all his life and told me something has changed. I kinda noticed it with the habitat for humanity last year, but the rest of them just seem like theyre getting worse. Like the habitat for humanity has some good stuff sometimes but there was a shift and it suddenly got so expensive. I saw a table that was broken and falling apart for 30$. I started going to the salvation army on wabash-whybare they selling LITERAL trash. Walmart sandwich meat containers and talenti Gelato jars and other used stuff, some of which is also broken and useless, for the same price as what you buy it for??? I have the ... Found these at the thrift store today6h agoI was in a different section of town today and getting dog food, when I saw a savers across the street. I went over and looked through their CDs. I didn’t find too much, but someone came around and put out a few new things while I was looking. Mostly I think she was taking away CDs that were the discounted color of the day, and putting out other stuff that wasn’t. That or putting out newly priced stock. Anyway, the decent ones I found were from that cart/new stack - Pop Tatari by the Boredoms (reprise, 1992), and a compilation from Parasol records that has Bettie Serveert among other releases from Parasol Records ca. 2000. Sadly, the OutKast CD is missing one disc - (Speakerboxxx) and... Thrift store find7h agoHi from Bath in the Uk - picked this up in a charity shop - it’s US made Starter jacket, presumably from the 90’s - anyone able to date it and tell me more? Thanks! I’m out of control!12h agoTwo trips in a week! I need thrift-puzzling rehab!! I went to my 2nd favorite thrift store last Saturday because they were having a 50% off sale and came home with 8 that I was pretty happy about (I posted my haul if you care to see.) But then on Tuesday, only 3 days later, I was back at it when I made a “quick run” to my favorite thrift store for 30% off. And this trip was even better! I found not one, but TWO vintage Springboks, the Costco Dowdle I’ve been looking for, and the Pooping Puppies and the White Mountain Wine & Cheese Shop are both brand new! This is why I can’t stop - the thrill of the hunt and great hauls like this week’s. But I’m running out of... Any info on this lamp I found in a thrift store?13h agoChinese Lamp with dragon heads and flashing lights Found this lamp in a thrift shop and have put a new plug on it which shows me the lights flashing and song being played. Haven’t fixed the LED lights in the dragons eyes yet or figured out how to get the turntable thing on the top to work. Anyone know anything about this thing?? What’s the song about? Pretty chuffed with it anyway Found in an Australian thrift store14h agoSaw that post from earlier about the banned logo and thought I’d share my Jags shirt that I got in a thrift store in Australia. I’m a huge Jags fan so finding this in an op shop over here is a huge win. The thrift gods were kind today17h agoWork has been kicking my *** lately so I hit up a thrift store for the dopamine rush and got more than I bargained for Should I buy this thrift store Le Parmentier mini bag?19h agoI saw this Le Parmentier bag in an op shop (thrift store) today. It seems to be a mini bag called Astorya. It looks smaller in person than in these images but but enough for what I carry: phone, mini wallet, keys, lipstick. Never heard of the brand but it immediately caught my eye as the shape and colour is very ‘me’. If it was $5 I would have purchased immediately but it was $40 (Australian $) so I don’t want to buy unless it’s actually a good quality and timeless style. I’m worried the mini bags/ crossbody look is too dated? What do you all think? A good deal or leave it there? The plan is pretty simple: we meet up, go all in at Korean BBQ (yes, I fully intend to eat way too much), and then head out to shop—could be a mall, the thrift store, or wherever. I’m not super picky about where, I just want it to feel fun and spontaneous. A little about me so you know what you’re getting into: I’m easygoing, I love trying new places, and I’m the type of person who will hype you up while you’re trying on outfits. This could be a one-time thing or turn into a regular hangout if we vibe. I’m totally open to that. I just want to get out... Plushy find!21h agoWas haunting thrift stores & gift shops in my area until I found an og and then we found Sonia Researching secondhand clothing/circular economy in Estonia23h agoTere! I am a graduate student studying ethnology in Europe, and I will be visiting Estonia in April as a part of my thesis fieldwork research. I study thrifting, the circular economy, and secondhand clothes, and I am hoping to interview some frequent thrift shoppers, as well as thrift shop owners/employees and anyone else who has an interest/stake in these topics. I am interested in what secondhand shopping and the circular economy are like in Estonia. If you are open to speaking with me, I’d love to meet with you and ask you about what you like to buy, how often you go thrift shopping, why you like thrift shopping, etc. I will be visiting Tallinn, Tartu, and Pärnu, but I’m also happy t... I need advice!23h agoAs the title says I need advice. So a few weeks ago my friend attempted suicide let’s call her Anna. I’ve been trying to cheer her up and made her some stuff etc. she getting the help she needs too. So fast forward to now my sister and her boyfriend are going on a trip with my mom and I was invited. My mom said that I could invite a friend so I decided to invite Anna she said no because she doesn’t want to have to watch her especially with what happened which is fair! So I said well how about we do something else like sleepovers with Anna she also said no which is fair! I asked her can we go shopping together which she also said no to that not sure why though. Obviously she would be pa... recommend thrift stores1d agotell the ones you shop from looking for cassette players1d agodoes anyone know any shops, or thrift stores which might have cassette players Help me find this item1d agoHi everybody.
