I used Claude to build a very simple app to help manage inventory for a small trading card business. The app is intended to keep track of card inventory and profitability (searchable inventory list/purchase price/valuation/listing price/sales price/etc.) I used Netlify to publish it as a web app. I have virtually no experience in coding and programming, so I'm outside my comfort zone with this. My understanding is that any inventory I manually add in the app is stored locally to my device's browser. Can anyone please help me understand how secure this is and what options I have for making sure that data doesn't get overwritten or disappear? If I want to make changes/... Need help3h agoHello, I have around 50,000 folders, and each folder contains an average of 25 to 30 images — so roughly over 1 million scanned images in total. Some of them contain handwritten content, but the majority are printed documents. What I need is a fast and efficient solution to perform OCR on this data and store the extracted information in a database. I have several pipeline ideas in mind, but the scale of the data is concerning. I’ve tried some VLM models on samples, and the results were relatively acceptable. However, I also need the error rate to be very low. Does anyone have suggestions on what could work well for this use case? As for models, I found a 0.9B model that performs well,... A Subscriber Sent Me a USB. The First File Was My Home Address.”3h agoThree days ago, a subscriber sent me a USB drive. No note. No return address. Just a black flash drive in a bubble mailer. I almost threw it away. Now I wish I had. Because the first file on that drive was a photo of my bedroom… taken ten minutes before I opened the mailer. And the second file? A video of someone whispering my name from inside my closet. The same closet I’m looking at right now. This is not a story. This is evidence. The package arrived on a Tuesday. I remember that specifically because Tuesdays are when I film my reaction videos. The ring camera alerts me to deliveries, but I usually ignore them until I break for lunch. This one was different. The mailer was small, ye... Need help understanding data storage for basic inventory app3h agoHi there! I've been following HexOS since it was first announced and I'm really excited about what you're building. A beginner-friendly NAS OS that doesn't require an IT degree to get running is exactly what someone like me needs. I'm currently working on a personal project centered around building a home server from spare parts I've collected. My goal is to use it to host my own files, run a local media server, and eventually experiment with VMs and containers. It's all part of learning the fundamentals of networking,... It makes something as basic as inventory management and storage an absolute pain in the ***. Past Bethesda games didn’t do this, so why did they decide to implement it here? How to Make THC Gummies at Home (And Why You Probably Shouldn't)3h agoThe internet is full of THC gummy recipes that make the process look like baking brownies. Melt some gelatin, add some THC oil, pour into molds, refrigerate, done. The recipe is not the hard part. The hard part is doing it safely, consistently, and with any confidence that each gummy contains what you think it contains. As a cannabis physician, I have seen patients land in my office after eating homemade gummies that were wildly inconsistent, one gummy barely noticeable, the next one in the same batch sending them into a five-hour panic attack. That is the reality of homemade edibles, and it is the reason I recommend buying from lab-tested brands instead. But I also believe in informed de... A Subscriber Sent Me a USB. The demo contains a fully functional and voiced interactive tutorial, the majority of core game mechanics, dozens of randomly generated fees and penalties, glimpses into o... Amazon S3 Files gives AI agents a native file system workspace, ending the object-file split that breaks multi-agent pip...3h agoThe article discusses Amazon's introduction of S3 Files, a service that enhances the integration of AI agents with Amazon S3 by providing a native file system workspace. This new feature allows AI agents to access data stored in S3 directly as if it were part of the local file system, facilitating easier navigation and interaction with enterprise data. The development addresses a significant challenge where AI agents previously required explicit instructions to download files from S3, leading to complications in maintaining session state and context when processing data. S3 Files eliminates the need for a separate file system layer, which had previously been necessary to bridge the gap...
