Study spot at UTokyo?

1h ago

I am looking for a place in Tokyo more in the Asakusa region where I can easily study for a whole day with WiFi and maybe outlets. The only thing I always see people suggesting is Starbucks and coffee shops, but they are always overfilled and I can never get a seat or if I am there early I have to contemplate between a study spot and getting to eat at least one meal a day. Are there maybe any university library’s or facilities that are technically free for anyone to use without checking of id or else

Coffee Shops Open After 5

1h ago

Looking for a quiet-ish coffee shop in or near Arvada to have a chat with a friend. It'll be an after work thing so it has to be open after 5pm. Any recommendations? Not Starbucks. TY

If ice machines are notoriously dirty in restaurants, what about getting iced drinks from coffee shops?

2h ago

I always hear that you shouldn’t get ice in your drink when ordering from a restaurant because the ice machines are usually dirty, but what about getting an iced coffee from Starbucks or any cafe? Or getting bubble tea with ice from a bubble tea shop? Should we stay away from those as well?

Cold Brew with Coconut Cream (Jeni's)

4h ago

**Jeni's review No. 8:** I wish it weren’t 33 degrees out when I tried this one because it feels like a refreshing treat in the July heat. I don’t have much love for icy sorbet or granita, so I worried the clash of textures might not be my thing. But having lived dangerously mixing sherbet and ice cream in a recent orange cream flavor, I thought: Why not? I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how well they mesh, though I could see some people hating the combo. In my first tasting it looked like a heavy coconut cream to cold brew ratio, but it ended up being top heavy, with the sorbet angled in, so you get more coffee as you dig deeper and they end up being about equal measures. ...

Jobs for mom's with two kids?

4h ago

What should I look for? My DD is turning 5 in April and in public school now, my son is turning 2 this month. It's so hard for me to get to work by 8:30 every morning, and sometimes I need to leave early because someone fell and has a bump or a fever. DD is in public school now, and I'm lucky to have my mom be able to pick her up at 2:45 (afternoon care starts in Kindergarten), but she is also caring for my elderly grandmother with dementia, and has her own health problems. Sometimes the weather just stinks and I don't want her out in it, so I need to leave early. My boss is understandably annoyed, but it's not like I don't get my work done, and I always put my hou...

28 [M4F] Let's talk about home brewed coffee

4h ago

I was recently gifted coffee beans and instead of letting them go to waste, I bought an espresso machine. I need help. About me: I'm a working professional who everyone assumes to live on coffee. I'm neither a coffee drinker nor tea drinker; I prefer orange juice. But if I absolutely need to stay awake for something, I'm okay with instant coffee or whichever coffee shop is closest (usually Starbucks). I have no idea how is "good" coffee different from "okay" coffee or "bad" coffee. I've been through most of the well-rated coffee shops in Makati and at the heat of the moment can say that the cup I'm drinking tastes good. However, I c...

Starbucks Shortlisting

7h ago

Hello, I just applied at starbucks through online (RustanCoffee), also been waiting for a position near my place, and I got a job so I submitted my resume online. My question is if the process on their site is long and is there really progress and I have to wait? Or should I submit my resume to the hiring area on their site online? Thank you so much!

Food Culture Over The Decades: What were the hallmarks and how did they reflect broader culture at the time?

10h ago

My general impressions of the decades of food culture are as follows: 1950s: The Convenience Decade \- The birth of the TV dinner \- Rise of convenience foods like Jello-O and Wonderbread/packaged sliced breads \- The classic 50s diner 1960s: Counterculture \- More incorporation of international foods in the US \- Early mainstream thought surrounding vegetarianism and the ethics of food \- Early fast food e.g. McDonalds beginning to catch on 1970s - ??? 1980s: \- Possibly the most carefree in terms of health, a lot of rich and prepackaged foods without consideration of health consequences \- Small kitchen appliances are widely owned and affordable, especially the microwave, blen...

Am I overthinking my new budding relationship?

11h ago

I'm a 42yo male who recently got out of a 14 year relationship that was emotionally taxing/draining and borderline abusive. We haven't been "together" in years but I recently told him I'm done there is no fixing it anymore. Anyway, back in December I started talking to this guy 40yo and we hit it off everything from pets, future plans, things we like to do and eat, and we are both very introverted. We met im person for the first time at the beginning of January at a Starbucks, he opened the door and gesture for me to go in ✅️ #1 chivalrous...without even a chance for me to say or do anything he payed for my coffee. ✅️ #2 generous... we sat and talked for hour...

where to find used coffee grounds

14h ago

Our new rental came with a wonderful garden, and it looks like the previous tenant had already started a compost pile. I’m hoping to add to it and was wondering where people usually find used coffee grounds. I checked a few Starbucks locations but didn’t see any set out. Is this something you typically need to ask the baristas for, or are there other places (local cafés, bakeries, coffee stands.) ...I did get one small cup of grounds (16oz) from one stand, that are better for this? Any tips are appreciated.... I’m pretty new to composting and just trying to build on what’s already here!

Are you being rude while working on your laptop at the cafe?

15h ago

I spent most of my free time in coffee shops. When I wasn’t in class or sleeping, I was either working the espresso machine at the Starbucks or sitting at the counter, sipping my free shift coffee and waiting for a latte mistake. The cafe doubled as both a student job and a workspace. Sometimes the library just wasn’t the right place to get work done. Not much has changed. I still drink multiple cups of coffee while writing, except now I do it on a laptop from home. Like many remote workers, I log on each morning and occasionally need to escape the house for real focus. When distractions pile up, working from a coffee shop becomes the obvious solution. Coffee shops are ideal for remote...

Who makes the best flakey croissants in San Diego?

18h ago

Who makes the best buttery and flakey croissants in San Diego? I've never been much of a croissant fan until I had the ones at Peet's Coffee, which I know they don't make. But they're flakey and butter and good. The ones are Starbucks are not very good. I tried going to Champagne's but they just add way too much sugar to theirs, Better Buzz also adds too much sugar, and I went to a local bakery called Edelweiss, and their croissants were just thick and doughy like white bread. So, I reason, there's got to be something as good as the ones Peet's has or better around here.

The max that i could get down to is $1.99 this was so much fun

Moxxie's Coffee Order in The Moxxie Coffee Tumbler. Starbucks Will Do It!

20h ago

So a few weeks ago u/xwolfionx made the following post on this subreddit showcasing that they got one of Moxxie's coffee orders made by Starbucks in the Moxxie tumbler, post here - [https://www.reddit.com/r/HelluvaBoss/comments/1qejd8t/it\_has\_finally\_been\_done\_moxxies\_drink\_in\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HelluvaBoss/comments/1qejd8t/it_has_finally_been_done_moxxies_drink_in_the/) Inspired by that post I went ahead and ordered the tumbler, received it happy as ****(no pun intended), then had someone head to Starbucks while I couldn't with the instructions to give the barista in the hopes they'd make the drink and they did their best My usual orders are way more com...

January might have been tough for you peasants but its been ok for me. Only problem is I've had hardly had anything...

22h ago

The tone deaf moan that January has been a long month from the person that has booked 2 holidays, had 2 hotel stays, ordered over £400 of takeaways, ordered nursery furniture for the living room - cow chair that looks like a hipo. A children's shelf for her kitchen for her cuddly toys. This isnt everything as she hides purchases that might be considered excessive: 1/1 - Starbucks (£10?), pancake house 2 x breakfast for A (£26) & 1 for H (£12?). Chinese takeaway for the whole family (£154). 2/1 - tbey services farm shop (over £100) pizza & co for A& H (£27.70) 3/1 - Sainsbury's shop (?). Booked disney paris for whole fam (£5k?). Booked CP + ac...

Ninja Prestige vs Ninja Luxe for lattes using ground coffee only [£250–£700]

22h ago

Buying our first coffee machine and stuck between convenience vs drink quality. Shortlist: • Ninja Prestige 2-in-1 (filter + pod) • Ninja Luxe Café Premier / Pro My wife wants fast, low-mess weekday coffee. I care more about latte quality, but realistically I’ll only be making them properly on days off. Key question (this is what I need input on): If I buy the Ninja Prestige and don’t use the pod side at all, can I still make a good-quality latte using: • 100% Arabica beans • Ground coffee (filter side only) • Frothed milk I understand it won’t be true espresso (no pressure), but I want to know if: • A strong filter-coffee latte from the Prestige is actual...

People bringing computer monitors

23h ago

What's the deal with people setting up full size computer monitors into starbucks? I was at the Snoqualmie ridge, WA location recently and there's a guy who comes in most days and sets up a full workstation with keyboard , extension cords etc. It's kind of annoying as it takes up a bunch of space and it's a coffee shop not a co working space. Is this actually allowed?
