I can't help but ask with these Mahjong tournament, why not the literally anywhere else?

15h ago

Whatever the venue actually is there has to be nearly infinitly better venues. Are the Mahjong baddies rowdy? I'm offended on Mei's behalf. If I'm paying to be there I'm entitled to leave some kids at the pool. \- library \- Game store \- Community Center \- Park Gazebo \- A cheap Airbnb \- A different library \- Mei's House \- Olive Garden \- Mr. Beast's Basement \- Someone's Apartment/Town Home "Club House"

Why the obsession with James Hird

15h ago

I don't get it, sure he was a favourite son, but so was Nathan Buckley and Michael Voss, no Collingwood fans have ever called for Bucks return, if anything they're probably harsher on Buckley as a coach then the average football fan. If it came out today that Hawthorn had been running an illegal supplements program under Sam Mitchell, despite him being a beloved Hawthorn figure, I highly doubt the club hierarchy and fanbase would rally behind him as rabidly as Essendon supporters did with Hird after everything that happened. So what is it about Hird that inspires that level of loyalty and protection?

Hello! 34M from Dallas, Texas here who is searching for his nerdy forever woman that completes and understands me! Camera Sale Advice

16h ago

Hi,   I’m not very knowledgeable about cameras. I primarily use an iPhone to take photographs, and it generally does an acceptable job, but the quality isn’t great when it’s dark out or if the image needs to be zoomed in at all. I like to take a lot of photographs when I go on vacations, and I was hoping to finally upgrade my technology to capture more vivid and sharp memories. I was at the Sam’s club recently, and I saw that both of these cameras were on sale. I’m sure that the more expensive one is objectively “better,” but relative to the price, would either of these cameras be considered a suitable option (I am just a hobbyist, not a professional photographer)? Are ther...

Using Scoundrel (Card Game) for RPGs

16h ago

I like a lot of things about D&D, but the combat was never really for me. And for a long time now, I have been looking for a way to make it more to my liking. If you do like D&D combat, that's great! This system just works a lot more to my preference for simpler combat that isn't quite as reliant on randomness. I've known about the card game Scoundrel for a while now, and have found it to be very easy to pick up, and fun to play. It's a solo combat game that can be played with a standard deck of cards. Spades and Clubs are monsters (or in my adaptation, attacks), hearts are health potions, and diamonds are weapons (they also function similarly to shields)...

Where to stay first time visiting LA with my girlfriends?

16h ago

Hi there! My 2 friends and I are taking a week long vacation to LA this summer and we are at a loss looking for accommodation. We’re predominately going for nightlife (clubs, bars, music) vintage shopping, thrift stores/designer thrift stores, good food and nice cafes. I was thinking of staying at hotel Figueroa as it seems pretty central to any direction we want to go. LA is large and we won’t have a car so we would like to minimize the cost of public transport or uber. Are there any better recommendations for accommodation that is “central”? Also any good shopping recommendations!! We love new and used clothing, maybe some designer thrift stores too? Thanks so much!

Driftwood Key, Your Kind of Place?

16h ago

You know who you are. You're done with the commute, done with the noise, done with neighbors who are twelve feet away. You want water views and a marina and a fishing club that actually assembles. You want to walk to the beach without fighting for parking. You might be retiring. You might be working remotely and wondering why you're still paying Seattle-adjacent rent when you could be watching whales from your deck. Either way, you're looking for the end of the road — literally. Driftwood Key is that place. Right now there are roughly six to nine active listings in the community, ranging from buildable lots starting around $400K to established homes and custom builds pushi...

[***** Trope] Toys that only exist in-universe but never released as real life products

16h ago

**Spaceballs - 1987** Famously, Spaceballs was legally prohibited from making or selling merchandise. These action figures that Dark Helmet plays with, along with the merchandise Yogurt pitched, were never sold in stores. **Watchmen - 2009** These figures appear briefly in the film (I couldn't find a screengrab but I'm almost certain) and in this fake ad easter egg included in the Tales of the Black Freighter prop. This was inspired by the graphic novel's fake advertisement that also featured Moloch and Bubastis, neither of which were ever released. **Tron Legacy - 2010** This beautiful statue of two fighting disc opponents seen in Sam's bedroom was never produced or...

Seafood Salad

17h ago

Just took on an EC job for a yacht club and am tasked with elevating the menu. Not much of a task, considering it can really only go up from where it is now 🤣 but they are adamant about having a seafood salad on the menu. I already have a crab & avo tartine, but they feel they need both. Anyone have any fancier or fine dining versions of a seafood salad?? I really don't want to do the typical, boring mayo based mix. It just screams grocery store deli, to me. Bonus points of you've got pics!!

Switch from Fitbit versa 3 longtime Fitbit user to venu 3 any tips to tale into account or app recs?

17h ago

Well I did the switch recently from a long time Fitbit user to Garmin recently because of the horrible update Google put out for Fitbit. Its obvious Google just wants everyone to do the AI subscription and the UI is beyond horrible to look at. With that I found the venu 3 for sale at Sam's club and decided to go for it. I mainly run, cycle and weight train. The thing that really drew me to the venu 3 was the battery life along with the fitness focus. Coming from Fitbit eco sphere and to the Garmin app/watch any recs to start off the bat? Any settings to take into account to get the most of the battery life?

Questions for transferring

17h ago

I will be transferring in the fall and have a few questions that I would love answers to if possible. 1. is there a golf club? (I used to play and have an 85 handicap when I’m in golf shape and am wanting to get back into it a bit) 2. Is there a skiing club? 3. Rock climbing (bouldering) and if yes do you have to be good to join or can you be a beginner? 4. I like comics and saw there’s a store called “fat cat comics” so was curious how is it? 5. Do students go home during the weekends or do they normally stay on campus? I think that’s all at the moment. Looking forward to coming in the fall!
