Hypothetical: If the 2000s were like how the 2020s are now, do you think the world would have been kinder to Michael?

2h ago

I know modern Internet culture is its own beast, but do you think people would have stood up for him more? The press was terrible in the 2000s, anything to get a sell, but it appears that The internet as it is now would have supported Michael more instead of only the press having say. I feel like at least Michael would see some kindness in the world by the internet, and us as a whole if he were still living. I feel 2020s culture is just different , they still of course could have still been terrible, but not gonna lie Michael would have had a block button or just not be able to use social media, and he could find some peace from those who did not support him or ***** him. There's a lot...

Nutrition & Naturopathy/holistic medicine should be core subjects in school.

2h ago

And everyone should be so well versed in each subject they are near nutritionist and naturopath levels when it comes to general knowledge of the subjects by the time they graduate high school. There is nothing more important than health. Period. Yet most of us learn almost nothing about it in school. Too many end up completely relying on doctors and pharmaceuticals to poorly manage health conditions that are completely avoidable and curable if they simply cleaned up their diet or even ridiculously simple things like wear a different pair of shoes.. It's uncommon to find people that actually know how to eat healthy(it's not just limited to eating salads or green/brown box "hea...

Thoughts on ‘made in’ steel pans?

2h ago

Thoughts on ‘made in’ steel pans? See a ton of adverts with v famous chefs and influencers using them and claiming they’re ‘the only pan you’ll ever need’ but cautious its just heavy marketing. Can anyone vouch for or offer good alternatives? Happy to drop some cash if it lives up to what they say. Any pointers appreciated

Season 2 was Fantastic

2h ago

Just wanted to say that season 2 is such a great improvement over season 1 (which I also loved of course). The songs were amazing; the plots were creative and funny. Everything was just so great. The halloween special was one of my favorites as well. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us in season 3. One thing I will recommend is more 22 minute full episodes. I think the writers are so good here; they are kind of hampered by the 11 minute time constraint. The 22 minute episodes give them more time to really flesh out a great story. Just my opinion.

Must-try food and cocktails for weekend trip?

2h ago

Hi esteemed Philly foodies! My partner and I are going to be in town for a weekend in January and I wanted to get your recommendations on your favorite / must-try coffee shops, meals (both casual and 'fancier' places), and cocktails (especially unique and interesting takes!). For context, I lived in the city for a few years for school (2011-2015) and tried memorable places like Zahav then, and he grew up in the city and was there for most of his 20s. Neither of us, however, have really been back for several years now, so while we are 'familiar' with things, I would love to try out things that you all are enjoying now. Thank you very much in advance, and go Birds...

Dealing with grief and regret

2h ago

I’m in the middle of an amicable divorce. I’ve had some regret about us being together so long (13 yrs) that we married and had kids. But I don’t regret my kids. I love my two sons so much. It’s an uneasy feeling. Any advice on how to deal with these paradoxical feelings?

My controlling parents can’t handle that I’m growing up

2h ago

I’m having struggles dealing with my controlling parents. Recently, I was offered the opportunity to go on a cross country road trip with three of my friends from college. They’re studying off campus in Los Angeles next semester, and driving their car from the east coast after Christmas. They invited me to join them on a ten day trip that stops in several major US cities and National Parks. What makes this even more enticing is that one of my friend’s mothers has paid for a hotel at every stop along the way. The only thing I would need to pay for is gas for the driver, food, and a plane ticket home. I’m super interesting in going on this trip, as I think that it’s a once in a lifet...

Silver selling question

2h ago

Today was my first time selling silver, on both sterling jewelry and in coins. The jewelry transaction went fine, but I wanted to know more about the coins. The majority of the coins were pre-1960s US/CANADA with differing degrees of silver. Not two large coins (bigger than a silver dollar) and thick as 3 quarters, we're both celebration/Centennial type coins marked as .999 Fine Silver. But when the shop weighed it all, they weighed all the coins together and quoted me 1 Junk Silver price for everything. Is this typical for selling silver coins?

[Revshare][Paid] Dungeon crawler needs illustrator - demo playable now

2h ago

howdy howdy howdy, Im Bakanekonyanyan. Been working on Uldtale for a few months now. It's a turn-based dungeon crawler - Etrian Odyssey style but with some DanMachi adventurer guild vibes and Diablo style loot. Just posted a pre-alpha demo on itch. No audio, placeholder art, rough around the edges - but the systems are there and you can actually play it. Character creation, multi-enemy combat, skill leveling, equipment proficiency, loot with rarity tiers, shop, inventory, the works. Now I need someone who can actually draw. **Looking for:** Character illustrator for dark fantasy anime style. Full body illustrations with modular layers (swappable faces/hair for character customizati...

What should I do?

2h ago

I recently went through a painful breakup with someone I truly loved. We were in a long-distance relationship, and during that time I was going through a very difficult period: I was sick, under intense pressure from university, and emotionally overwhelmed. Because of all that, I couldn’t always show love the way she expected. She now thinks I didn’t love her, even though I still planned special things for us — including organizing a trip for her — despite everything I was dealing with. She eventually grew tired and decided to leave. She told me she doesn’t usually go back to her exes, but she also said she still cares about me and wants to remain present in some way. I’ve kept...

Sunset on the Train Tracks (pt. I)

2h ago

“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, … The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity” - *The Second Coming* (Yeats, lines 3-4, 7-8) I had wheeled my 1973 Desoto Adventurer into Vincent's Vehicle Vitals more times than I could count before this particular summer in 1980. The stylish little coupe couldn't go three months without shitting itself and winding up back on its hospital bed, so, despite the well kept exterior, she was practically on life support. That life support was old Bootleggin’ Vinny himself who owned the automobile repair shop with the lowest hourly labor cost I could fin...

STR HOT tax audit?

2h ago

We had the other half of our duplex listed as a short term rental for 2 years and reported our HOT taxes monthly, as required by the city. Bookings started waning this summer and the city started making it ridiculously hard to maintain our license (they required us to install a driveway, then they wanted us to pay to fix the apron on the driveway that SAWS chipped during road work). It got to be too much red tape, and we chose to take it off the short term market and found a full time renter. But now, I'm getting emails from the city requesting what amounts to an audit of our renters for a 3 month time block back in 2024. I simply do not have the bandwidth or time to deal with this righ...

I 22M broke up with my 21F gf cuz of excessive arguments

2h ago

So i met this girl online ,we are both from the same country, at the very first days of our talking stage ,i made it clear that i want a serious relationship that ends up by us getting married, so at first it was great we were talking a LOT, playing games together ,having calls at night. basically i was spending time with her a lot, i'd say it was a good company at first One night as i was streaming for her while she was watching me, she saw a text of mine telling another girl "Miss" and for the record that message was about 6 months before i knew her ,and that girl sent me a new msg asking me about smth related to her work ,anyways my "ex" saw it ,felt broken th...

Dad gave me this laptop, he passed away this week. Please help.

2h ago

Hi, my dad gave me this laptop a few years ago for college. He passed away this week, and I can't bring myself to buy another. Long story short, I put a good amount of my weight on the screen with my knee on accident. I have a video Ill link in the comments too. If anyone knows a way I can identify if it's just the screen or if it's something more without an hdmi cable (or if anyone can tell by just looking at it), please help. Thank you.

2h ago

Hi! My problem is that I overthink every small detail and as a result, I'm self sabotaging. We've only known each other for about 7 weeks. I am not assuming anything yet but the moment we got introduced, we instantly clicked and we have a lot of things that we both like. We've been talking back and forth on our soc med apps but not always because we're both adults. We always workout that's our common ground since we love working out. Laughing together. In as much that I do not want to assume, I got a feeling that she kind of like me around. As in she's comfortable around me. As for physical contact, we're almost always at each other's personal space. ...

Any leash training tips for a young berner mix puppy?

2h ago

We’ve had our baby for almost a month now, she’ll be 11 weeks old this week! My vet approved us for walks in safe areas so we’ve been starting to do leash training… and I’m now understanding the Stubbernese comments lol. She’s been on a lead since we got her since that’s how we signal it’s potty time in the yard and not playtime, so she’s super used to both her harness and leash. But trying to leave the house to go on a walk is hard! She will plant her little booty down and not want to move unless I run, and if that doesn’t work I have to pick her up till we are no longer on our block. Once she’s walking, she just cries and cries and cries. She will start to let up he...
