Parking Lot Weather Chat

3h ago

Leaving the grocery store today while it's cold, windy, snowing, and generally terrible weather after yesterday being 75 and perfect. Lady getting into her car in front of mine hollers "Thunder and sleet?!?" I replied "I literally got a sunburn yesterday!?!" She threw her head back and laughed at the sky. We both hurried into our respective cars and drove away.

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone would be up to writing a fanfiction about shifter a/b/o bkdk but ms bkdk to adult bkdk,[id want bakugou to be an alpha with wolf ears and tail and izuku to be a beta non shifter(just human because in this au usually quirkless people aren't shifters while people with quirks are shifters] and no bitching at all either] im not interested really in angst and I do have some ideas regarding what I was thinking fanfiction wise, my range for how much im willing to pay is from 50-100-$ USD at most [sorry if its a bit low- ive never commissioned a fanfic so idk the running price for a somewhat long fanfic](i can pay through cashapp, revolut, giftcard, and paypal)...

A customer called me a cunt

3h ago

So for some context im 16f and i work at a grocery store hot bar part-time. Today i was on my shift and there was a woman ordering a bunch of stuff so it was taking some time. Eventually I got her checked out and she left. Behind here there was this man (like 35-40m?) and he just… stood there. The hot bar is right next to the bathrooms in the store and I often have people waiting around the area while someone they’re with uses the bathroom so I assumed he was doing the same. He was on his phone and didn’t step any closer to my counter so I didn’t say anything. A few minutes went by and he was still there, i started wondering if he’s actually a customer and if I should say somethi...

Almost 12 weeks with didi twins….

3h ago

And I already want a deli meat sandwich. 😭 I want it cold and not heated. It’s not the same. Ugh. Also, does anyone else really crave something so they order it like from the grocery store and then it arrives and you literally can’t even look at it? Hormones are wild. What else is everyone craving but cannot have? I need to know I’m not alone here. 😂

Week 11:Herbaceous- 7 Herb Soup with Rosemary Sourdough Croutons

4h ago

This wasn’t bad at all but not sure I’d go out of my way to make it again. It was definitely quick and easy and tasted very fresh. Of course my grocery store didn’t have ramps, nettles, sorrel, or even tarragon so I had to make do with chives, parsley, cilantro, basil, and green onions. https://germanfoods.org/traditional-seven-herb-soup/

Zaynab Issa Day!

4h ago

Hey friends! This Sunday I made two dishes from Zaynab Issa - her red curry orzotto with mushrooms and peas (from Third Culture Cooking: Classic Recipes for a New Generation) and the preserved lemon tea cake (or the cake that got me a job). I just realized that I don't have her book out to pose with my dishes and for that I apologize! I was just super hungry and excited to make new foods that I could share. My red curry orzotto with mushrooms and peas had a few changes from her recipe. My grocery store did not have shiitake mushrooms or red curry paste in stock so I used a mix of oyster mushrooms, a mushroom blend, and Patak's Mild Curry Sauce instead. This dish came together pre...

Are door ding scammers a thing here?

4h ago

I was in the Aldi parking lot, and the wind blew my door into the adjacent car leaving two tiny dents. I paid a bit of cash to just get it over with as the internet was saying I could probably legally be on the hook for 2-3x as much and I can’t afford that. But as I was taking a picture, she started getting cagey and tried to stop me from taking any pictures. As I left the parking lot, I saw her move to a different spot next to another car and then continue to just sit in her car like she had been before my door bumped hers. I thought maybe I should get a picture of her plate just in case, so I made a big loop back around to pass by the parking lot. I guess she recognized my car when I pa...

Cooking like our ancestors for fun and learning a lot

4h ago

I started cooking through this old school cookbook mostly out of curiosity and ended up learning way more than I expected. Shoutout to whoever posted about it here a few months back, I couldn't find your post but I appreciate you for putting me on to something awesome. Every recipe is based around food that lasts without refrigeration, and each one includes a bit of history about where it came from and why it existed. It’s basically how people fed themselves when grocery stores, fridges, and constant resupply weren’t a thing. I’ve been trying a couple recipes a week just for fun. Some are pretty unusual by today’s standards, but it’s fascinating to see how much thought went ...

Laundromats: How likely to contaminate my things?

4h ago

^(Hi friends,) I may be forced to use a laundromat (and don't currently have other easy options for hand washing, soaking, or etc.) But I'm really worried- For reference, I'm chemically sensitive, but not to the point where I sometimes can't tolerate the laundry aisle at the grocery stores, etc. I don't get ANY physical symptoms like asthma problems, or etc.- it's just really tough to handle the stench. I can go shopping in a thrift store no probs (but in the past I could not ever wear items without working hard to get secondary fragrances, esp. including laundry soaps, out of items). This is just for reference about the level of sensitivity I have. I...

Cigarette flavored sweet potatoes

4h ago

TLDR: got groceries delivered that reek of cigarette smoke I am (no pun intended) fuming right now. $100 of groceries and half are ruined from cigarette smoke. How much does a person need to smoke for the smell to penetrate / linger on food?? It was a 20 min / 10 mile drive. The things ruined are sweet potatoes and similar produce, and a load of bread, that can’t be repacked and washing them just won’t make the clean or safe to eat (imo). The smoke smell penetrated the packaging of bread and cereal as well. Ofc, this order was fulfilled 3rd party so while DoorDash admits fault, they don’t have my payment info and can’t process a refund to me. The store says Door Dash CAN do the r...

Bars in Grocery Stores

4h ago

What's the consumer appetite for having a beer while shopping? I think of airports and malls where restaurants are connected and allow others to stop, have a drink, and people-watch. Why not try this at a grocery store? Customers can relax and unwind while at the same time, their inhibitions lower, and they become relaxed, perhaps hungrier, etc. Higher sales

Closing GM Crew, a team question. How many are on your team?

4h ago

Once upon a time, we had 5 closing Gm members and a closing grocery clerk. Now my store is down to 2. Me and one other. Add the fact that now it’s 100% priorities completed (85% by 5), clear strays, and zone. So how big is your GM team and how are they dealing with it?

Looking for a Room/Roommates in Provincetown – Planning to Move This Year

4h ago

Hi everyone! My name is Dev and I’m planning on moving to Provincetown later this year. I’m currently living in RI and have spent time on the Cape before, and I’d really love to make Ptown my home. I’m looking for either: • A room to rent, or • Potential roommates who might want to share a place. A little about me: • 23 years old • Friendly, respectful, and easy to live with • LGBTQ+ • I work in grocery retail and would be working locally (possibly at Stop & Shop or a similar store) • Quiet, responsible, and not a big partier Ideally I’m looking for something year-round, but I’m open to starting with a seasonal place and figuring things out...

As a Pro Carpet Cleaner Sincerely...

4h ago

Please Stop trying to clean your own carpets. There is no magic electric machine you can buy, rent or borrow that will do anything meaningful for you. You are going to damage your carpet and then still have to call a professional but guess what, odds are, now he will want to charge you even more to clean up the mess you made. This is simple physics, an electric wall socket can produce 15 to 20 amps max at 120 volts which can power an electric motor up to about 1 horsepower max. But the motors inside typical consumer steamvacs, rug doctors ect are probably closer to 1/8 of 1 horsepower.... Why am I telling you this? Because the average Gas Powered Engine found in most professional truckmount...

Grocery Store Sushi Franchises Commission Rates?

5h ago

I'm located in GA where there are a lot of Kroger's and Publix's. Currently, I see that Publix's use AFC Sushi as their sushi franchise company and Kroger's uses one called Yummi Sushi. Does anyone know about what percentage of the sushi sales does the company keep and about what percentage goes to the franchisee? I have heard that the grocery store itself also takes a cut as well?

The IBX, Queens, and up-zoning my home

5h ago

I was author of a recent post about up-zoning, the future IBX, and my home neighborhood of Glendale, Queens. You can find the post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Urbanism/comments/1rtliqe/how_would_you_desvribe_the_urbanism_of_ny_how/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). The summary of this post is that I express concern for my neighborhood changing too much, given that a stop on the future Interborough Express will be my neighborhood's main new transit connection. Comments on the post were wide ranging, proponents of up-zoning accused me of NIMBY'ism and said "**** your sense of communi...

Aldi vs Publix

5h ago

Anyone else notice that the only real competition Publix has is Walmart? Super Target is a limited grocery store. GFI, Save-alot, Bravo, Fresco, Supersaver are like Aldi -- not many brand names in the store and not a wide selection. With Aldi converting the Winn-Dixies - looks like the Fowler WD will be next - Tampa shoppers get a lesser store. I don't even understand shopping at Aldi's. It leaves Fresh Market and Whole Foods (both expensive) because traffic at Trader Joe's is ******. Am I missing where to grocery shop in Tampa? Because Publix has raised prices on everything.
