Getting to my breaking point

12h ago

I started at S&S nearly two years ago and I am getting to the point where I just want to give up on this company. The consistent understaffing, the attitudes of management and co-workers is genuinely worse than the customers at this point, and no matter how much you do you're constantly put down for what you don't know due to lack of training. I feel like getting a new role in my store is just a humiliation ritual. Just today I got snapped at due to me not getting someone on break the second the time hit the midway point of their shift. My department manager(s) put nearly as much pressure on me as they would a FT associate, and I cannot deal with taking on all of the extra...

I ******* **** this job

12h ago

I already put in my 2 weeks and my last day is the 24th and I can’t even stand working till then…. I have another job lined up and I’m working on going back to school IT TAKES SO MUCH OUT OF ME TO DRAG MYSELF OUT OF BED TO DRIVE 30 MIN THERE I have to get there by 7:30 am and I’m such a night owl, it’s so hard to get motivation to drive there. Not only that I have a coworker that won’t stop ******* talking aimlessly so ******* early in the day!!! Like shut up!! Not only that, I do 90% of the work, yet I make the same as her per hour, after being told I make this amount because of my commute + degree while this coworker has a shorter commute and no degree. I’m being treate...

BlackHatch part 1.

12h ago

Today is October 15th, 2023, the temperature outside is consistent with New England’s notoriety of cold, damp, and mild. Large heavy bodied Oak and Maple trees display a violent fiery red and orange overlooking heavily developed areas that used to be sacred mountains. Stocked rainbow trout introduced to a new environment discovering their new food sources of mayflies, stoneflies and whatever other bugs hatch within the river systems, only to live for a couple hours in hopes of reproducing. My name is John O’Hague, I’m a conservationist observing; hopefully, the habits, and human harvests of stocked fish within the state of Connecticut, as Ranger, my job is simple, check peoples fishing...

AI Tools That Actually Change How Work Gets Done: A 2026 Category Breakdown

12h ago

# Introduction "AI is changing how we work" has moved from prediction to reality. In a Slack-commissioned survey of 5,000 desk workers conducted in the first half of 2025, 60% reported using AI at work — and the share using AI daily had risen 233% in just six months. Employees who use AI every day report being 64% more productive than colleagues who do not. But "which tool, when, and for which task" still varies enormously by organization. This post maps the major categories — from office suite AI and meeting transcription to general-purpose LLMs and workflow automation — with specific data on what each tool actually does and where it fits. Vendor-claimed figures ...

Need help with a kids chapter book!

13h ago

This book took place during WW2 at some point. The main character is a girl who mentions specifically about the time she went to Hawaii and the department store had lipstick samples for her to take so she took a bunch. The other thing I vividly remember is somehow the girls purse got throw over something and sank to a pond or reservoir and she had to go dive in weeks later and get it.

What does FAFSA run your details through to confirm citizenship?

13h ago

My story is long and complex, but basically I was bought as an infant in another country, brought to the US through the Canadian border, assigned an SSN and US birth certificate, my parents stayed in the US for a couple years, and then moved me to another country, where I've grown up since. Now I am 18 and have gotten admission to a few colleges in the US. Looking at FAFSA, it appears there are two details they check to deem you eligible for aid: Your SSN and US citizenship. I've used my SSN for other means, so I know it is functional. I have never been prompted for my birth certificate or proof of US citizenship in any other US-related things I've done though. Now far as I&...

In Memory of Starlight - Part 1: The End

13h ago

>“*I write this in, what I can only assume to be, the delusion that there will be those who can later read what I write. It is a long standing anathema for the collective psyche of humanity to truly consider oneself* ***The Last***. We perpetually assume there will be another to outlast us - we are designed to believe that with every fiber of our being regardless of the evidence of our eyes.\* >*“If you read this under a peaceful, starless sky I both envy and pity you, poor reader. Envy: because peaceful days have long since abandoned us as I write what might as well be humanity’s last will and testament. Pity: because there are many of us who would’ve rather died than...

My lucky day

14h ago

I’ve been working retail part time to make some extra cash and have been bouncing around helping multiple departments. Today I was scheduled for customer service and when I clocked in, my coworker I was relieving told me what a bad day they had because they just sorted out $2000 in coins (our store was running short on coins and was asking customers to bring their coins in for cash). I perked up when I heard the dollar amount and immediately went to open the safe. I didn’t even have to open the tubes of coins, I could instantly make out the glimmer of silver. Ive had small wins and finds while working this job, but this amount dwarfs my previous collection. This amount is all I could s...

Where do you buy your cologne?

14h ago

Where do you guys purchase your cologne from? Or do you just get it from the retailer or a department store? My next purchase I think is going to be lv imagination and if I’m not mistaken, I have to buy directly from them? I got this bottle and tobacco vanille from a store in the mall that has discount colognes. Wasn’t sure how much I trusted them but turned out to be straight.

The 2026 AX Developer Stack: What LangGraph, CrewAI, n8n, and MCP Are Actually Used For

14h ago

# Introduction In August 2025, Gartner forecast that 40% of enterprise applications would incorporate task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026 — up from less than 5% at the time of the prediction. That is a structural market shift compressed into roughly 18 months. A LangChain survey conducted around the same period, drawing on more than 1,300 respondents, found that 57% of organizations already have AI agents running in production. The question has moved from "should we adopt AI?" to "what do we build it with, and how?" The embedded AI inside Microsoft 365 Copilot or Salesforce Einstein covers certain ground. But wherever an organization needs to design and deploy ...

I was offered a big promotion to become the #2 at my job but am hesitating whether or not I should take it.

I (23M) work for a large department store. I’ve been here since I was 16. Started off in the warehouse and have worked my way up through many different supervisor/managerial roles. I’ve been in my current role of assistant manager for about two years and feel that I am very generously compensated. We are one of the companies busiest stores in the country and a very desirable location, we get tons of transfers every year from other stores. Our store manager is “Jim”, he’s been the boss here since the store opened decades ago. Our deputy store manager is “Kelsie”, who’s a year older than me. She started working here just a year before I did and like myself, has worked her way u...

[2 YoE, Software Developer, Software Engineer, USA]

I'm basically tired of my current job. I mostly apply to positions I likely qualify for anywhere in the US. I have been able to get a few interviews including one tech company because of my experience in Django REST framework. This year, I've only been able to do so much tailoring of resumes and job hunting and most of the positions I see on LinkedIn are large companies. As a result, I've been unable to get any interviews except from a recruiter for a growing company. I've only had one job as experience and would appreciate some insight on the best way to tailor my resume and get some opinions on whether I should replace the projects section below or replace it somehow. ...

About a month ago, I went to AutoZone to pick up the things I needed for an oil change. I grabbed the wrong size oil filter (totally my bad) and a couple of weeks went later, I went in to the same AutoZone I'd bought it from so I could return it. The girl who was attempting to put through the return didn't quite seem like she knew what she was doing, but another staff member came over to help her, so I figured it was fine. 11 days later, the money from the refund still hadn't made its way to my account. I called my bank twice, they had no pending debit to the card I used. I go back to the store and ask (politely) for the manager, I explain the issue and he prints off a "...

The Sodder Children

14h ago

**THE SODDER CHILDREN** **Five children went to sleep on Christmas Eve, 1945. They never woke up. Or at least — that is what the official record says. What George and Jennie Sodder believed — what they spent the remaining decades of their lives trying to prove — was something far more disturbing. That their children did not die in that fire. That they were taken. And that the people responsible for taking them were protected by the very institutions that were supposed to find them.** **This is the story of the Sodder children. All of it. The fire. The investigation. The evidence that was buried — literally — and the theories that have never been put to rest.** **Nothing about thi...

San Francisco Solved Metro Vandalism With One Neat Trick

14h ago

TL;DR: BART's new fare gates have led to a 1,000-hour decline in clean up time; 41% drop in crime; and $10 million increase in projected revenue. Purpose: Blue state governance took a dire turn for the worse over the past decade or so, from housing policy, to crime, cost overruns, etc. That tide is only starting to turn now. Vandals have done some senseless stuff on Bay Area Rapid Transit. They have removed the fire extinguishers from the station walls and sprayed them all over the place, for example. But what particularly vexed Alicia Trost, the chief communications officer for the train system that connects San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, was their destruction of map disp...

The ship is sinking pretty fast (my store experience)

15h ago

I have been in retail on and off for almost 13 years now and recently my store is pretty much a sinking ship. Recently, we have had so many changes it started with a good gm getting fired for messing with inventory numbers which I can understand the severity of that but that's only the start of it. My department manager has been out for like 2 and a half months now for surgery and word is they may not have a job in the coming months. All this stuff is slapped on me as a full time associate and I'm getting tired of it. I have been in a constant cycle of the days I get off every week and then end up working 6 day weeks with a few days broken off here and there to fit in 40 hrs. The p...
