Houston entrepreneur trying to place a custom phone case machine inside a grocery store - Any advice?

2h ago

Hi everyone, I’m a small local business owner here in Houston and I’m hoping someone in this community might be able to point me in the right direction. Over the past few months I’ve been trying to get in contact with people about placing a small vending-style machine inside a grocery store. The machine prints custom phone cases on demand for customers. I’ve reached out to several locations (Kroger, H-E-B, Food Town, Randalls, Walmart), but every store tells me to contact corporate, and when I contact corporate I usually end up leaving voicemails or emails that never get answered. Right now my machine is operating at *Trader’s Village Houston (Booth 778)* and people really enj...

The Reaper Is Here (The Battle of Ralza)

Baronet Admante Gimor had just decided that the Dock Master's office smelled worse than the loading decks. It was not one smell but three layered atop one another in an offense to civilized breathing: stale recirculated air, ink-polymer from contract seals, and the sweat of commoner clerks who lived too close to dock schedules and too far from daylight. The office itself was little more than a metal chamber bolted into the interior spine of Dock Ring Sixteen of the *Abolisher of Indignity*, its walls lined with cargo manifests, transit chits, repair authorizations, and customs notices bearing the Seal of House Cayston in proud repetition. Admante stood before the clerk’s desk with t...

Civil Demand Letters - Grocery Store, NJ

2h ago

Location: New Jersey A friend of mine had an incident at a grocery store in New Jersey involving a self-checkout transaction. Loss prevention stopped him after leaving the register and alleged that several items had not been scanned. He was brought to a room where loss-prevention staff took his ID and photographed him. Police were not called and he was not issued a summons or asked to sign any paperwork. The merchandise was recovered. He was told he would receive a civil demand letter in the mail within a few weeks requesting payment, and that if he did not pay the amount demanded, the information would be sent to the local police department. He was also told he was banned from that store...

Looking for niche and interesting category ideas for mongolian themed Jeopardy!

3h ago

I agreed to host jeopardy between my friends and I want to make it about just pure Mongolian "general" knowledge, but challenging enough that people have to actually think before answering. Exactly like the ones on the standard Jeopardy! So, I'm looking for category ideas that are not broad and the answers can be challenging, fun and sort of niche. Example (though it's an easy one): In category "Buildings" Q: In front of this building, there's a Beatles-themed statue A: Улсын Их Дэлгүүр (State Department Store) гэж юу вэ? I've been brainstorming ideas for few weeks, and so far I've come up with categories such as хэ...

Self-promotion Thread

Use this thread to promote yourself and/or your work! (Descriptions of fictional crimes investigated by the story's main Character Max.) Detective's Fate It's august of 2008..... Max is a detective living in Chicago He checks his pistol and puts on his police badge as he walks out his front door. He has been searching for a serial killer known as the Caller for years and always been one step behind due to the red tape..... More importantly the chief's lazy attitude towards getting search warrants and actions approved by the courts for raids. Twice Max had good intel on the suspect's locations and photo evidence showing him at the sites. The department needs mo...

TenantPad: Maintenance - Repair Tracker for Landlords | One-time $4.99, no subscription, fully offline

3h ago

I just released **TenantPad**. It's a maintenance tracker for self-managing landlords with 1 to 10 units. If you manage rentals yourself, you know the drill. Repair requests in WhatsApp. Costs in a notes app. Contractor numbers nowhere to be found. TenantPad keeps it all in one place. **What it does:** * Log repair requests with photos, priority level, and status tracking * Priority goes from Low up to Emergency * Status flows through Reported, In Progress, Waiting, Resolved * Attach contractors and see their full job history in one tap * Generate PDF reports to share with tenants * Export to CSV filtered by date, property or status (handy for tax time) * Dashboard shows open request...

Is it best to go through the store manager, people lead, or my department manager for a change in department? (This is at a NBHM if it matters ) also which one for a transfer and how does that process work?

Where to shop for cribs in person?

4h ago

Now that buy buy baby is gone and everything is online these days, I feel like I have no options for in person browsing. Even stores like Ashley furniture say “online only” when browsing their crib section or nursery section. I live in Temecula, CA. Kohls had some strollers but not many options for the furniture shopping part of nesting. Any recommendations?

Quitting after 3 years

4h ago

Can't believe I've stuck around so long. I've been wanting to change departments to checking for over 2 years and my store director just keeps dangling it over my head. She keeps telling me i need to "prove" that im fit for the job. Meanwhile, she's hired 5 new checkers in the past 9 months. Even though i literally have already worked as a checker before for an ENTIRE YEAR at THIS SAME LOCATION, I'm still not worthy enough for the prestigious career of safeway checker. Now with this new policy cutting everyone's hours and permanently removing the opening checker, i know there's no point in trying. This company is embarrassing. Laugh so you dont c...

My lucky find

4h ago

I had almost given up on getting this bag. I went to return some items to Macy's on Thursday and decided to check out the Coach department. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her! I immediately asked to try it on and instantly told the SA let's head to the register because this baby is sold! Went directly to the Coach store from there and had my cute Girl Math tag made for her. So happy!

I’m a grocery store manager and I think I may have caused a kid to get salmonella. Do I tell his mom?

4h ago

I’m honestly sick to my stomach writing this and I don’t know what the right thing to do is. I manage a grocery store in a pretty small town. Everyone kind of knows everyone here. A lot of us go to the same church, same schools, etc. About two weeks ago we got a shipment of prepackaged chicken from a distributor. Normally when something gets close to expiration we mark it down and try to move it. If it goes past the date, technically we’re supposed to throw it out. The problem is corporate has been really strict lately about “shrink” (basically throwing away product). My store has already gotten warned about it a few times. A few packages had passed the date by a day. They stil...

Head-covering Recommendations

5h ago

Hello! This might sound like one of the dumbest questions ever haha, but I was wondering if anyone knew where and how to find good head-coverings? All I have right now is a super heavy scarf that I got from a department store years ago, thought it was sufficient enough, and now I’m stuck getting a bit too frustrated here and there with how it falls off every five seconds. Honestly it could also be user error, and I just might not know how to secure it right, but at the same time it’s got a decent bit of weight to it so I think it’s probably the fabric. Sidenote too, if anyone knows where to find affordable modest clothing, I’d appreciate it so much. Everywhere I look tends to be a s...

I feel like my mom is treating me like emotional support

5h ago

Sitting in my room this morning and my mom comes in and says ‘I wanna do something ****** and go on a big shopping spree’ cook whatever and I said ‘alright’ and then said ‘I want you to come with me and if I seem like I’m having a panic attack I need you to calm me down’. I’m sitting there confused and like ‘ok?’ Because what if I don’t notice a panic attack from her? She also says ‘when I get to meat department i mentally go batshit crazy so just tell me to calm down’. She does this alot to me. I always have to go to the store with her not my sister, me! It’s really starting to take a toll on my own mental health and idk what to do anymore.

Department stores selling baby chicks in the 1970s

5h ago

Am I misremembering or doesn’t anyone else remember department stores selling baby chicks around Easter time? My wife grew up on a farm and never heard of such a thing. I’m sure I do. I even remember them coming dyed in different colours.
