Links to Erased podcast, photos, interviews plus background notes...

**Thanks SO much for this subreddit!** Although "late to the game", I came across reference to Gulielma Sands in some notes from 2024 last night, stemming from an interview with Tony Goldwyn, who voices Burr in the podcast — commencing my own journey down the rabbit hole, scrolled through this subreddit to see if the podcast was mentioned, but didn't see links to it. Here are a few. Also added bits of interest I found along the way. Hope folks find this useful: **Podcast links — Erased: The Murder of Elma Sands available on** [Lava](https://lavaforgood.com/erased/), [Audible](https://www.audible.com/podcast/Erased-The-Murder-of-Elma-Sands/B0CKV7X2RY?source_code=ASSGB14908...

Opening Availability Issues

2h ago

I've had it up to here with my team lead, the HR manager, and the store director bothering me every shift about extending my availability in the department because someone else in our department has to cut their availability significantly because she's in school. So because they ONCE AGAIN didn't hire the right person with a more open availability, now I have to be harassed every shift to fix their f\*cking problem. I'm ALSO in school and applying for classes, so I told them plainly that I will let them know when I apply for classes and let them know my availability, but apparently that's not enough for them. What they think that means is ask me every single shift n...

Block's Department Store (Indianapolis)

2h ago

As Indy as anything you could think of (Speedway included). Started out as a downtown department store in 1874, branching out to malls in the 50s and 60s. Sold in 1987 and converted to Lazarus or closed. My chief memory of Block's, apart from shopping there with my parents in the 80s (at Lafayette Square Mall *and* Washington Square Mall), was hearing Barbara mention shopping at Block's on *One Day at a Time.*

A BookPeople thread for Day 22 | “Love Cuts The Strings”

2h ago

OK, so it’s my turn to write a sprawling story about today’s ‘This Year’ song. (Hang in there; I promise we’re going to arrive at “Love Cuts The Strings”.) Once upon a time it was 2004, and I was working in an art store. It was an art store that had been cool, once, back during a time when it had been granted some degree of independence from its corporate headquarters. But that independence had been waning, and soon it would be snatched away entirely; not long thereafter, the whole place would go under due to a series of increasingly poor business- and managerial decisions. Most of these things, however, have not yet happened: It is still the fall of 2004, and I am working at ...

The Scorpio Woman, by Linda Goodman.

2h ago

Linda first released her sun signs book in 1968 and an original copy was on the bookshelf in my family home growing up. I often sat their reading it over and over again, it's crazy how accurate it is (for everybody). In my 20s, this was exactly who I was. I've worked hard to fix some of my more negative traits, and I always seek to empathize with others now even when I have been hurt or betrayed. Life isn't black and white, much to my dismay, but a wonderful shade of grey. I'm still a work in progress. If anyone is curious to read their own I highly recommend it, just Google "Linda Goodman (Sun sign)+(Gender)". *The female Scorpio has a deep, mysterious beauty...

The AI Cloud Computer That Replaces Chatbots With Autonomous AI Employees

2h ago

Most people still think of AI as chatbots. You type a prompt, it answers, and then it forgets. But that era is ending fast. A new kind of system is here — the **AI Cloud Computer** — and it’s already replacing chatbots with something far more powerful: autonomous AI employees. They answer one-off questions but can’t follow through. The...

Kortowo (Kortau) Psychiatric Hospital massacre (January 1945)

3h ago

**DEUTSCHE ÜBERSETZUNG UNTEN!** This article covers the massacre of the patients and staff of the medical facility in Kortowo (Kortau), today part of Olsztyn (Allenstein), which took place after its capture in 1945. The history of human settlement around modern day Kortowo stretches back to the times of pagan Old Prussians. However, the main subject of this post - the local psychiatric facility - was constructed in the late 19th century. At that time, the parliament of the province of East Prussia suspected that there would soon be insufficient space in the province to treat mentally ill people, and therefore took certain preventive measures, obliging among other things the commission for...

Fantastic Yearly Numbers But Not Enough For A Raise

4h ago

This is an older experience but back in 2023, I was working in the service department for a Toyota dealership. In August of that year, I’d been there almost a year and I spent most of that time the only one in my position as a porter greeting people, moving cars to the shop, shuttling customers back and forth and so on, and on top of all that, we were constantly busy so I was always running around to try to do everything as efficiently as possible. I asked for a raise (I was at $14 an hour at the time) and my boss, the service manager, said he’d speak to the GM. A couple of weeks go by and I ask him if he heard anything. He told me the GM didn’t want to give me a raise because 1. My p...

New hospital and Admin wants to run it like a hotel

4h ago

Has anyone been part of a move like this? We open our doors March 7th. We are transitioning with a new CEO (he was the CFO prior). New building new look. I don’t even know how much money they spent on the new Logo and my 7 year old could have designed it. Everyone in the hospital has a new dress code. I think most of the staff finally got on board with this but then they added we had to buy our scrubs from the online store because our tops have to be embroidered with their logo. But it’s the small stuff that’s crazy. You can have a nose piercing but it has to be a stud not a ring, if your tattoos offend a pt you have to cover them up (this has never been an issue) you will be sent home...

AIO? Apologies for the Target jargon, I hope it’s understandable

4h ago

I was hired as HR expert (assistant) two weeks ago after working in style/fulfillment (online pickup orders) since October. I started training the second week of January and went to a nearby store for three days to get some hands-on training. This week I was scheduled 4 shifts in HR and one shift in fulfillment. For context, fulfillment consists of picking orders for both online pickup (guests come in-store or drive up) and ship from store (we pick products from in-store and ship them out all over the country). However, I do not have my online HR expert credentials/privileges yet (ie: requisitioning, schedule changes, email, etc…basically everything an HRE is supposed to do online). I ask...

These are several questions I have

4h ago

About I have several questions regarding William Afton/purple guy and the missing kids like when did he actually like do it like what time of day did he actually lure the kids night or at day? another question I have is where did he keep the bodies after he had murdered them obviously we all know he shoved their bodies in the animatronics but like after he killed them what did he do with the body? Did you like hide it in his car and what time of day did he hide their bodies in the animatronics presumably when there were no employees around and how did the security cameras not capture him doing this and another question is did he kill the kids like did he lure them in as a group or did he kil...

Granger home invasion suspect was wanted on warrants

4h ago

Prosecutors have filed 11 charges against 34-year-old Dustin Pate, the man who resisted arrest Monday near State Road 23 and Gumwood, assaulting officers, taking one’s gun, and punching a K9. Court records shed light on Pate’s desperation to avoid arrest. In addition to the fight with officers, Pate had tried to carjack a woman but couldn’t because she’d locked her doors. St. Joseph County prosecutors say that at around 5 a.m., Pate and a female were driving down State Road 23 in Granger when they randomly pulled into a home’s driveway. The woman who lives there called police and reported a suspicious vehicle after Pate had parked his Jeep and walked to the front door. He then wa...

Desktop Advice

4h ago

Hey all, I’m computer illiterate and in the market for upgrading my laptop (Dell Latitude 5520) to a desktop and could use some advice I’ve had this laptop for almost 5 years and it’s running slow. I’d like to keep it for when I travel, which is rare, and want a fast reliable desktop for the office I work as a steel estimator in construction, I’m 1099 so I don’t have an IT department to consult with. I’m constantly having large pdf files open, with large takeoff spreadsheets, internet browser with multiple tabs, and email. Eventually there may be an estimating software involved, but for now it’s just Bluebeam. I have a single client that I work with and most files are stor...

Where can I get Disney themed Rae Dunn mugs and merchandise?

5h ago

Online prices are outrageous, even with shipping costs. Looking for department stores that are guaranteed to have Rae Dunn merchandise, especially Disney themed to add to my collection. Mind you, I have to drive an hour out to my nearest TJ Max, Kohls, etc. Last time I made the trip, TJ Max didn’t have any. 😢

TM-a-Day: TM52 Focus Blast

5h ago

Welcome to TM-a-Day, a daily series where we analyze & discuss the various TMs in the game. Today's TM is TM52: [Focus Blast](https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Focus_Blast_(move)). As always in-game is my preferred avenue of discussion so that's what I'll be focusing on but feel free to discuss these moves and TMs in the context of competitive, battle frontier, Dex/Trainer Card completion, super contests, challenge runs, etc as well! Focus Blast is a Fighting-type 120 BP, 70% Accuracy Special attack with 5 PP. It also has a 10% chance of dropping the target's SpDef, but its real secondary effect is that sometimes it hits, and sometimes it doesn't. Y...

Back to Kanto on an Anbernic RG40XXV!

5h ago

Just fired up Pokémon Red on my handheld for the first time in years and wow… instant time machine. Boot screen hits → that 8-bit music starts → suddenly I’m back on the floor as a kid with AA batteries scattered everywhere. I’m currently wandering around Celadon City, hitting the department store like it’s the mall in the 90s, grabbing TMs, and remembering how absolutely massive this place felt the first time through. Cycling Road, Rocket Hideout, that little casino corner… Kanto just has a vibe that never gets old. Something about playing this on modern hardware with save states and backlit screens makes the nostalgia even sweeter—same adventure, way more comfortable o...

Waiting for a Response/Call Back

5h ago

Soo, I applied to Publix a few weeks ago for the bakery, got an interview last week and it went really great! The manager and I had lots of small talk and she even told me about the path upwards from just the stores. She also said the Customer Service Manager would be calling me this week and that she had a few more interviews but they may or may not happen depending on the impeding weather (I’m in the southeast). I called on Monday and spoke to the assistant manager of the bakery department (manager was in a meeting is what I was told). I had a few questions and also just wanted to emphasize my excitement about potentially working at Publix. I currently have a job and I’m so grateful ...
