Prior to the 90's my perfume experience was simple. Find one fragrance and wear it for years. I discovered Aedes des Venustas perfume shop in Manhattan in 1995 when they first opened. It was love at first sniff, and from there my obsession with niche perfume began. A decade later I found myself with almost a hundred perfumes. Even so, it wasn't until 2012 that I even understood the meaning of niche perfume. Until then, my way of explaining what I liked was "not the perfumes they sprayed on you in department stores". So I’ve recently taken over the frozen department at my store and the last person left it a disaster.
