Or how your mom’s dusty, decade-old bottles of perfumes in the 90s smelled? Not particularly floral, or powdery, citrusy, or gourmand - just very strong, unidentifiable, and artificial? It’s hard for me to describe, but the fragrance “Charlie” is kind of what I mean. I remember my mom’s Trésor was like this too. What makes a perfume smell strong, “perfumey,” but not like anything we can recognize from the real world? I feel like fewer popular fragrances these days have that quality.
