I have a bit of a dilemma as stated from the title. My wife works in the medical field and she needs to dress in a semi-casual fashion. Financially we are doing good for ourselves, but I keep running into the same discussion with her and her constant desire to buy cheap clothes. She likes to shop at Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s etc… Now I’m not one to shy from the mainstream department stores as a good deal is never to far away. My issue is she buys these “nice” shirts that cost $7-$12 each. She wears the shirt maybe twice and it’s either shrunk or falling apart at the seams. She’s tried different washing and drying techniques but to no luck. Now she insists on stopping by w...

I've noticed for a while something that has been solidified tonight: if im actively doing a project, even if it's been dead in the store for a while, I get flocks of crustomers coming into my department to play with the toys and mess stuff up. But if im not doing anything (like right now), it's blissfully quiet. Im gonna try to get my one project done before I close for the night, so hopefully im actually proven wrong.

Just a long rant on my very little time working here. I was hired on for seasonal, hoping to be kept on fully, but ended up quitting 2 months in. My store was a supertarget and was real rambunctious (i get it, its the holidays) but how do they expect any new-hire to survive with absolutely zero training in this sink or swim environment? My TM’s were cool and the work was straight forward, but the TL’s were a whole ‘nother story. For some reason, I found myself working next to our SD and HR ETL a lot. I’ve been with Academy for 2.5 years (2 years CTL and 6 months as footwear.) and now I’m being promoted to Softlines (Apparel + Footwear) Teamlead. The previous 2 team leads were not very good and my store director is expecting me to get things back to standard. Any advice with running this team lead position? If not a team lead, what do you like/**** that your team lead does? I want to be a good leader and care for my associates/coworkers. I’m worried I’ll struggle with spreading tasks appropriately and navigating difficult employees. In addition, being the lead of two big departments might explode my brain.
