I mainly run the inventory processes in grocery at my store, and been fighting an uphill battle with my higher ups about some of the processes/how the department is run. As a result it’s getting increasingly harder to get the stockroom under control. Did the reset today and had an increase of 200 loose units, had 300 last week, and probably similar the week before, despite an overall decrease in units. Been instructed to run flexi lists to reduce fill list sizes (which only works because less cartons), and reduce loose units (clearly doesn’t work). TL;DR - no drama and an OK experience for me, though I only had a backpack (no suitcase). I flew round trip yesterday OAK-BUR-OAK, a day trip I’ve done 100+ times over the years. Was seated in 3D on way down, boarded in group 2. I didn’t need overhead bin space, so it was nice to stand off to the side and simply board at the tail-end of Group 2. Bought a sterling silver Claddagh ring five years ago from an Irish manufacturer. My store has been doing bad in credit card sign ups. Last year we had three assistant managers get transferred out of the store and each moves to three different stores. I live in Charlotte and we had a big storm come through the past weekend. Today I went to my usual store on South Blvd. The produce and meat departments were non existent, bare shelves in entire departments. I needed potatoes so I went into the Harris Teeter on Park and Woodlawn. The meat and produce depts. were fully stocked. Why is there such a huge difference. The Food Lion store is losing 10s of thousands of dollars daily to a problem other grocers have solved.
