Not sure what to do after maxing 401k amount to 24.5k

2h ago

Sooooo Im maxing out my 401k at the legal limit.aka the 24.5k. that said I still have about 265 extra a week that I'm debating what to do with. I have student loans worth about 26.5k. would the optimal move be to pay them off or keep building an emergency fund behind 3 months. For context I work at a grocery store as a department manager and we have pretty strong sales so far despite everything going on in the world. Would the optimal move be to put all of it towards the loan OR max out roth and put the extra towards the student loan?

Add 'K-shaped' consumer polarization to the list of Korean trends

2h ago

TL;DR: - Korea’s retail market is showing a sharper split between high-income shoppers and everyone else, with department stores outperforming while most other channels weaken. - Department stores kept growing in 2025 thanks to wealthy customers and premium strategies, while hypermarkets, convenience stores and duty-free shops saw sales decline. - Retailers outside the luxury segment are increasingly turning to ultra-low-priced private-brand products as middle-class consumers cut spending and focus on value for money. There are concerns that "K-shaped" consumer polarization could become entrenched in the retail industry as high inflation and a prolonged economic slowdown persis...

Why can I connect to a VPN and then a network, but not vice versa?

2h ago

Remove if not suitable. TL;DR at the end. NOTE: I don't want ways around this if it's against the rules. Just wondering. So, I am talking about a university network that uses Fortinet. I have tested this on Android, Windows and Linux (though I have seen marked differences in desktop vs mobile) -- both VPN apps and browser extensions. Firstly, on Android. If I connect to the VPN while on mobile data, and then switch to the uni Wi-Fi, I can access the internet and my IP is the VPN IP. However, if I first connect to my uni Wi-Fi and then try connecting to the VPN, then the connection to the VPN fails to go through and it gets stuck in an endless loop of "connecting". Ho...

Hey I was curious if anyone knows if my current job would look good to get into an apprenticeship. I work for an aircraft manufacturer. I’ve been there for 5 and half years and have reached max level in my department with no advancement within the company in sight. Here’s what I do at work • Work 10-hour shifts, 40+ hours per week, in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment • Read and interpret detailed process specifications, engineering drawings, and technical manuals • Fabricate, sand, repair, and bodywork composite aircraft components to process specifications • Perform maintenance and repair of body shop equipment, including hydraulic and chain lift systems ...

Women's clothing stores

2h ago

Hi all, trying to find fun women's clothing stores in Smyrna area (willing to go up to Marietta). Basically anything other than major department stores. Used to live in Decatur and loved Finder's Keepers Consignment, trying to find places like that around here (not necessarily consignment). Went to Common Threads here and really liked that. Anyone have any similar suggestions?

New grad / existing professional, reaching out for jobs [Business and/or Tech]

2h ago

Posting here to say I'm looking for work. I don't really like the idea of making a Reddit post about work, feels unprofessional, but It's been several months since I started looking and I don't feel like I've got anywhere. In December 2025 I graduated from UNBC's commerce program. I majored in Management Information Systems, took all my electives in computer science, because I couldn't decide between business and tech. Really wanted a bachelor's degree, way back in 2016 I graduated from some bougie game design diploma program but felt it didn't really give me the education I wanted. When I finished UNBC, I graduated on the Deans List and had e...

I’m done

Well, tomorrows the day I’ve worked for Smiths for almost two years in the pick up department. I’ve always really liked it. I worked at a store about an hour away from current one, before I transferred down to one by my new house. Old store was great. Good coworkers, managers would help out. At my new store though? I don’t know what’s wrong with Kroger, but it’s evident that abuse gets to slide in a daily basis when it comes to managers. My manager is probably one of the worst people I’ve ever met. Screaming at me in front of customers, telling me to do one thing and then when I do it she says she never said that and brings me in to talk to the STORE LEADER, outs my private in...

Does the retail drama ever end?

3h ago

Just quit a retail job at a dying department store for another job at a department store that’s not dying nearly as much. At the first one there were cliques, you couldn’t trust anyone, everyone was out for each other, and I was warned within my first week to not trust certain people. Well I just started my new job and was also just warned not to trust certain people. And there’s already drama between coworkers. And I’ve gathered that my coworkers don’t enjoy being around me because I’m too “bubbly” (I think they might just be lame). I’m tired of it. We’re adults can we not just ******* be cordial at work then go home? I **** having to be on edge all the ******* time....

Getting transferred when I brought up concerns to hr about a TM

3h ago

So i was originally hired for bakery. Loved it there, never had a problem worked with multiple Team members, team leads and ETLs. Worked there for my 90 days. Then i was switched over to meat. The Team leader there lets call him henry, was supposed to train me.I had a few interactions with him when i was still in bakery he was always kind of rude but i always kind of brushed it off. Henry became my Team lead in meat, a position i wasnt hired for. I didnt mind and was ready to learn. Henry spent maybe 30minutes with me and then i was left to my own devices. I asked multiple times to be shown how to do things because not only am I still new to target but definitely to meat and the departments ...

Potential underpayment under enterprise agreement

3h ago

I work for a medium-sized retail/department store chain (around 60 stores nationwide), and I believe the company may be underpaying senior retail staff, including myself. I’ve been employed there for about 6 years. In 2023, a new enterprise agreement (EA) came into effect. Before that, supervisors received a flat allowance each fortnight on top of their hourly rate. Under the new EA, formal supervisor roles were removed, and instead “higher duties” are paid when a team member performs duties aligned with a Level 3 Retail Employee under the General Retail Award (most of us are otherwise classified as Level 1). The EA defines “higher duties” as when a team member: (i) Provides sup...

GSE Manufacturing Experience

4h ago

I typed this up (on my phone) in another sub as a response to someone who had a machine shop and was looking for overflow work in the aerospace industry promising a quick turnaround. His post was removed by the time I finished all this. Probably not interesting to most, but possibly to some. Feel free to remove if its against the rules. My Father owned a Machine/Fab shop that did GSE. Boeing licensed, in-house engineers, multiple locations, etc. We did a lot of work for Airbus as well as military applications for all manner of GSE. We built everything from specialty pliers and tiny shear pins to entire tail docks for a A330 for example. I even have some engineering for stuff still that I ...

im so tired (shift rant)

4h ago

had an awful shift today, dk about any other stores. it was ridiculously busy and arrogant/rude customers blah blah as usual. im fine with that, i can cope. what really got to me today was the actual work. I come in, 6am, and there's an insane amount of delivery, levelling on Christmas. again, it's Easter, whatever, its the job and i love my team. two of our (far too little) team were unable to split it, so i was asked to help, which again, happy to do !! love my team and love to help out. so i spent 2 hours of my 8 hour shift splitting. on top of that, I also had two BUSY whoosh slots, but because I managed to slightly work on my cages, I'll say that was another 1hr 30mins...

Munich (and a bit of Bavaria/Austria)

4h ago

Hi all, I’ll be in Munich for about a week in mid-April and will be based in the city. I’m also planning to do a bit of hopping around Bavaria as well as popping over to Salzburg and Innsbruck. I’ve gotten the D Rail pass. I’m after a few recommendations if anyone’s got some solid local insight: Things to do / see in Munich and the other places on my list. I’ve got the usual bits like Marienplatz in mind, but keen on anything slightly less touristy or just genuinely worth it Food spots ideally a mix of proper Bavarian places, casual eats, and anything you personally rate (not fussed about Michelin stars, just good food) Day trips already planning Salzburg and Innsbruck...

I know my typing isn't perfect ( using speech to text but I thought it was pretty clear . Also has anyone else ever had to abandon a batch due to a random person pulling a fire alarm and causing an entire mall to be evacuated?

Working for Whole Foods??

5h ago

I am interested in joining WFM part time as a cashier. However, I have been interviewed at Starbucks as well. I am having trouble deciding on which to choose. I have worked for Starbucks for 3 years and loved/***** it. The WFM I interviewed with had such a friendly manager for the cashier/front end department. They are also not a delivery store either. What's your experience? Also, the raises seem good, Starbucks gave a bad raise the last time I was there.

An overwhelming old-school toy-haul from Walmart

6h ago

I ran to Walmart to restock my Papatui and…WOW…the toy depart was PACKED with Star Wars…and actual NEW Star Wars. The new price point weirdly hits harder when I’m standing in a store aisle versus on my phone, an I left a LOT behind because of that but I, very weirdly, bought Poggle the Lesser, who, despite being from my least favorite LA project, is one banger of a figure. I don’t even know where to start opening these guys at, they all look fantastic.
