What I learned trying to get AI to actually analyze financial scenarios (not just describe charts - Technical Deep Dive)

8m ago

I've spent the last \~6 months trying to get LLMs to do something that sounds simple but turns out to be surprisingly hard: Have AI analyze financial + operational models, run lots of variations, and compare them in a way that actually matches how humans reason about decisions. My goal was to create a modular system - super generic - that I could plug any data into and have it just “work”. I also wanted to be able to support scenario analysis. Lots of them. Out of the box? The results were… pretty bad. Lots of things like: * "Revenue is increasing over time" * "There is some variability" * "Some months underperform expectations" All technically...

Who do you guys think makes more money, SCS or TheCubicle?

9m ago

Been getting back into cubing and I was totally blown away by the fact that Max Park is now sponsered by SCS. I always thought TheCubicle was a bigger store that made more money and SCS was their only viable competitor. TheCubicle historically struck gold with Chris Tran in innovations - IIRC magnets in cubes were Chris Tran's idea, with the first limited production model of a magnetic cube being Gan 356 Air UM which was developed with the Cubicle. TheCubicle also historically had more lubes. I can count on one hand the number of non-silicone based lubes SCS has. Vortex, Stardust...that's it. TheCubicle has been highly innovative in their research - Mystic (organic based), ...

Sunday

Saw another post about C&C and figured I’d make a general discussion post- was anyone else’s C&C completely slammed yesterday? We had maxed out orders in every time-slot, and every member of my team had to stay late with no breaks, and we STILL were an entire two hours behind the whole day. I’m getting really sick and tired of this horrible change where delivery orders get sent out to drivers 30 minutes before the due time regardless of order status. Literally whose idea was that? It wouldn’t be as intolerable if there only way to get around it wasn’t a single hotline you have to call. A hotline that has long wait times on a busy day like a Sunday. Which happens to...

Silent Night, Deadly Night: Parts 1 + 2 Imprint.

20m ago

I was on the fence about getting this but when JB HiFi here in Australia released it for $70 cheaper than what Imprint charges I had to pull the trigger on it. Full details for those interested are below. YOU’VE MADE IT THROUGH HALLOWEEN, NOW TRY AND SURVIVE CHRISTMAS. Santa Claus is crossing off his naughty list in the controversial 80s cult horror SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, and its 1987 sequel.  Both lauded and condemned on release for its gruesome violence and depiction of a murderous Santa, the original slasher spawned a killer legacy with four sequels and an upcoming 2025 remake.  The original Theatrical Cut for Silent Night, Deadly Night is included on both 4K UHD in Dolby Vis...

Time for me to find another job??

20m ago

Hey everyone, I've posted in this subreddit a few times before today. Before I start, I've been with the company for 6 months now. I was hired on as a part time cashier and was basically told that within my first few weeks I could expect full time. Fast forward to today, January 5th my hours have been cut more and more each week. To the point where I am only getting about 20 at most. I am a 20 year old soon to be college student, and I'm barely able to get by. I am by no means poor, but as I try to figure out college the thought of going into my first year with little to no hours scares me. Each time I try to bring up my concerns and questions to management, my GM dismisses ...

****** management pt2

55m ago

About a week or so ago I posted here about my ****** store manager talking about not getting trucks done and some other bs and a few people gave me **** over it. This fat ******* is picking on us for no reason. We work our asses off but we get so much ****. More **** than the people who constantly take cig breaks and walk around talking and being people’s shadow. Probably gonna get **** for this too but idc Saturday night/morning at the end of my shift I went to bale my boxes but the baler was full. We had already made a bale maybe twice (sometimes we have to make bales as soon as we get in because night crew doesn’t make one before they leave) but then meat and produce department cam...

Usage of the spare time in my 9-5?

1h ago

Hello. I've been wondering about using my spare time to something useful. I work in a highly confidential finance field (govern wealth / common folks money) I'm the last step between the money stores get (including banks and officials) and the spenders. I'm a department leader leading a team of 16 people. I work effectively for about five hours. The rest of the time I don't really do anything. I've automated pretty much everything I have. (Statistics, storage management, scheduling system. Etc. ) I can't automate orders and what that involves due to ancient programs and no option to sparre with the developers since they don't exist anymore. So I'...

Purchasing direct or through a department store?

1h ago

My birthday is in a couple weeks and I want to get myself the Coach Brooklyn (deciding between 28 and 34). Should I purchase directly from Coach or from Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, etc.? Is there any overall benefit to purchasing from one over the other? The one thing I have heard is that Nordstrom has a really good return policy and overall customer service, so I was leaning towards them, but they also don’t have all the color options as the Coach website. I’m probably going with the maple, so that should be okay as Nordstrom does have that one.

Looking for your BEST OF THE BEST recommendations

2h ago

I know this is basic -and I apologize for that. So far I’ve boughten 4 colognes - 1 million lucky EDT - Versace eros EDP - JPG le male le parfum (got yesterday) - JPG elixir (got yesterday) As you can tell I love sweeter smells. I’m trying to educate myself on more colognes, but right now JPG le male le parfum is my favourite. Something about the sweetness and the smoothness is so balanced and I love it. I’ve done the occasional duty-free/department store window shop, and I remember also liking Invictus Elixir. A lot of people have recommended me the stronger with you lines, but there’s something about them, that I don’t really enjoy. However, I am open to mind getting c...

I broke down in public today

My husband died less than 3 months ago. I was feeling fine until I went to the bedding section at a department store and it just hit me that we will never choose those things together. I couldn't stop crying in the middle of the store.

Last straw. I think.

45F married 22 years to 52M. He is stressed about money. We live in a very expensive area but could move anywhere due to both working remotely. He won't entertain moving. We have 2 kids in elementary school, in all sorts of activity and it is very pricey. We rarely get vacations and just taking them to an arcade where I let them **** $20 each on games seems to irk him. I do all the household purchasing in general. All their clothes, school supplies, gifts for them and for their endless birthday parties, shoes every 4 months as they grow like weeds. I always buy on sale and save up loyalty rewards and all the stuff; kohls and old navy cash, buying a lot of their stuff even at Walmart. ...

LightAlarms Simplicity/Emergi-Lite Prestige Edge Lits at department store

Sorry for the weird angles, had to be mindful for some of the people in the store I personally enjoy seeing these, their lettering stands out compared to other edge lit exit signs. These aren’t off, they’re just very dim

Inventory questions

3h ago

Hi! I’ve worked at my TJ Maxx for a little over two years, but this will be my first inventory and I’m scheduled from 3am–10am. I haven’t really been given much information about what to expect, so I was hoping someone who’s done inventory before could help. Do inventory shifts usually end around the scheduled time or do they tend to run later? How does getting into the store work that early? Do we just show up and wait, or should we be contacting a manager? I normally work in beauty. Is that a good department to be assigned for inventory, or are there others that are easier? And what does the overall inventory process look like? Any advice or tips would be really appreciated....

Is this indicative of PPPD?

5h ago

Hello everyone, So about 4 months ago now I started experiencing what I think were minor panic attacks. I would get a sudden pins and needles feeling accompanied by a wave of intense fear that would quickly wash over. These “episodes” would last maybe half a second to a second at most. I didn’t think much of them but then on November 10th I had one of those episodes but turned up 100x. I had a strong sensation of pins and needles and fear and genuinely thought I was going to die. I nearly passed out infront of my roommate but caught myself before I fully collapsed. I went to the ER and strangely at the ER I had nothing wrong at all, in fact I refused many of the meds they gave me beca...

Joan’s job crisis

5h ago

During the merger with PPL, Joan resigns from her job because it’s assumed her husband will get the residency and she won’t need to work anymore. That falls through, and Joan winds up working in a department store for a while. Why did she not call Roger or Don. Not to get her job back, but for references. Surely a woman with her management skills could find another job comparable to what she had.

Moscow+7: Part IV

5h ago

It was now Moscow+4. Small shantytowns bent around the tracks. Tiny one room wood cabins or dachas with firewood stacked, grafted to the sides, sat romantically in the woods outside our window. Their curtains were pulled back to watch the hurling trains bound for destinations a world away. Smoke plumed out of rocky, uncoordinated chimneys. The mossy thatched roofs, carved shutters, brightly painted doors, worn axe handles, well-kept gardens and window-pane crosshairs pulled my heartstrings. Muddy roads, carved into ruts by horse-drawn carriages, were the paths these isolated lives trod to get anywhere. Children walked them on their way to the school, passing branch fences, puddles that never...

Pull the white laces out right away and put fresh black ones in least them like a Knu skool for the laces out look on the end. I just got a shorten my tails up a little bit. These are gonna be awesome for the summer love the all canvas material and they’re super comfy. I was surprised 🤷‍♀️ for a department store vans that so many people knock on here all the time lol! If you’re not gonna skate him, and you haven’t slipped your foot into a pair before I think you might have a different opinion on them because I definitely do. Pay attention to my hot van ***** and my Travis Scott sweats it wasn’t my fit for the day. It was what I just had when I tried them on with my fresh b...

Apart from Coles and Woolies, what other stores offer rainchecks?

5h ago

I only recently discovered Woolies quietly reinstated them last year after stopping the service during covid. Are there other supermarkets/department stores that do rainchecks?
