Late night Tuesday night

In a couple weeks I’ll be going out of town for work and the flight departs at 5am (FML…). It’s not worth getting a hotel until 3 or 4am and so I need ideas on what you’d do to pass the time until TSA opens up. Thinking about stores or restaurants open late, movies? Anything I can do to stay awake and entertained until the flight leaves. Also, if you’ve flown out of ICT recently, how’s the security? A few years ago it was 10 min but I know some cities have delays.

real life mall world department store

41m ago

Today I went to a dated department store in my town that is going out of business and it gave me extreme mall world vibes. It reminded me of my “mall target.” The front of the store had lots of stocked shelves but as I made my way to the back, it got eerily liminal. I had to snap a few pictures! Do you guys dream of a place like this?

Asking for a Raise - Advice?

1h ago

Not sure if this is allowed but I didn’t see anything about this in the rules- but basically I’m feeling severely underpaid at work. I know most people feel that way but let me explain. I work for an RV dealership first of all. We have a service, parts, and sales department. I have recently been promoted to parts specialist after working in the retail store for the better half of a year. I am KILLING IT!! I’ve brought in tens of thousands of dollars worth of service contracts for the service department, helped the sales department with all sorts of last second deal additions, and the main thing is that I am out performing my former male counterpart. My pay is 16.50 an hour + 3% c...

Crumbl Cookie's Marketing

1h ago

**Executive summary:** Crumbl didn’t “go viral” by accident; it built a weekly content loop into the business model (rotating drops + a camera-ready pink box) and let customers do the marketing.  **Title:** Crumbl’s real social-media hack was operational: a weekly “drop” people review for free Crumbl started in 2017 (founded by Jason McGowan + Sawyer Hemsley).  By Aug. 6, 2020 it hit 100 stores, then 111 storefronts/20 states by Sep. 23, 2020 (press releases).  The real inflection: February 2021—Good Morning America reported Crumbl’s first viral TikTok topped 1M views and the account gained 1.6M followers in six weeks. (Exact TikTok URL not provided in that repor...

Feedback on 3 DAY Itinerary NYC - (First Week of April) TYIA

1h ago

Okay so forewarning, I am traveling with a group of 10. All on the same flights and in same hotel. Staying in SOHO. I am just making my own itinerary and everyone else can join or do their own thing. Traveling with all ages from 11-55, everyone's first time in NY :) (Everything in italics is what I am still also not sure of?) Any suggestions of maybe switching anything around, anything I should avoid or add in these areas? TYSM! **Wednesday -** Landing at 2 p.m. at JFK *Uber Shuttle to hotel- 60ish mins? (I think Shuttle is best option due to half of the crowd being teens) Or is Airtrain better?* Check in to hotel at 330-4 Change/Shower/Freshen up Take subway up to Times Square Ti...

Help me save this dragonfruit(?)

1h ago

my sweet well meaning husband knows I love my succulents and bought me a "moon cactus" from a department store about a year ago. Long story short, i didn't know what i was dealing with at the time. The albino graft killed the host, and I unwittingly propagated a still living green bit that remained to see if it would grow. It's become This over the last few months. Growing and trying trying climb the plant stand which makes me think dragonfruit, I'm not expecting miracles in my colder climate but does it need more light? It's in my big south facing windows with the rest of the cacti who Arent doing this. Advice is appreciated

Dreaming of the perfect rose-passionfruit perfume

2h ago

A couple of years ago I got one of the Northern Star cuticle oil sets from Polish Pickup, and one of the oils was rose and passionfruit scented. It was a match made in heaven; I’ve been in love with rose scents my whole life, passionfruit is one of my favorite flavors, and though unexpected, it just worked. Both were equally prominent and true to life. Since then I’ve been longing for a fragrance that features both notes. I’ve always preferred indies, but I happened to be in Sephora the other day and saw the new Sol de Janeiro body spray, Rosa Charmosa, advertised as a rose and passionfruit scent, and decided to give it a spray. It was another disappointment. Neither of my two desired...

Closing MIC or Grocery Clerk?

2h ago

I’m not “allowed” to work stock, or ‘be in my department’ as MIC, but when closing, my store manager gives MICs a laundry list of tasks to do in grocery because they are constantly a dumpster fire. It’s not ‘hey delicate these tasks and make sure they get done by grocery’, it’s ‘hey grocery has 4 closers, but 3 are idiots, so you need to work these birds, break down these pallets, and make sure the actual grocery clerks do their tasks’. This all stems from constantly poor hiring and training standards in the department, and the bandaid solution is to get free labor from the MICs. Are all stores/SMs like this? 🙃

Black metal magazine rack

2h ago

Found this today, can’t find any information on it. It’s a black magazine rack I believe is vintage likely from 50s-70s? Any info on manufacturer, department store or distributor would be cool! Thanks

Is Mod Integrity a joke anywhere else?

2h ago

In my store Modular Integrity is all but ignored in my department. There might not be a single section set to mod. When asking the Store-Lead about it, she says “How do you expect someone at HO to understand these areas better than your TL and senior associates. They’re just making changes that make more sense.” While I could understand that for a few items for spacing issues, it’s way more than that. Recently the TL moved 2 mods from their floor plan locations to a rack that isn’t even on the floor plan because thought it looked better. The Store Manager signed off on it too so, does any of it matter anymore? Idk

Pallet dominos?

2h ago

Are warehouses actively trying to sabotage stores or did we start a game of dominos I missed the memo on? Must have been in the shift start up agenda right under the reminded to claim your free plastic employee appreciation water bottle…. Why else would you load pallets onto edges of other pallets then shove them into the truck? Pallets and their products falling like dominos out of a truck and onto a sales floor near you! Wooo hooo! Dry produce bags literally toppling out off the truck from a banana pallet stacked on the next pallet and its products. The poor driver restacked multiple spilled produce pallets just to get the load off the truck. Totally amazing trying to sort out damag...

5 days solo in London from NYC

3h ago

After a great first trip to London last May, I have started to plan another trip for this Summer. I'll be staying in Mayfair but am looking for input on what to add / remove as I know I won't have enough time for everything I'd like to see. I'm very comfortable with public transportation and walking long distances being from nyc. At this point, my only firm activity is a West End Show. I also want to visit the Churchill War Rooms and am looking for more history (specifically World War 2) related museums, exhibits, walking tours etc. Also will likely do V&A and know that based on prior posts here that will take at least a half day if not an entire day. The last ...

My Stop-Motion Diary 3/16/2026

OK so here we have some stuff I worked on Sunday, and a little story that goes with it. The topic here is how I came to do the things I am doing now after my many years growing up and working in the Hollywood Film Industry. https://preview.redd.it/jba4dkvh0hpg1.jpg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d3b0d30188f410f9007da13eef88ecd7bc3434f https://preview.redd.it/pxaco9oi0hpg1.jpg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76e717fceab95f7d9c317d035fec844ab13d158f I have had a habit my Mother taught me as a kid. It also plays well with my philosophy of not being materialistic, but leaning into choices that write me into great stories. So here is t...

(RANT) I've worked at 3 stores, and this is what I've learnt

3h ago

Hello random maccies workers, welcome to my mcmaxing story It started out when I was 14, almost 15 and I practically begged to convince my parents to let me get a job. I applied at the same mcdonalds my best friend was working at because **** yeah! Making money and working with my best friend? Sign me up lol. I... definitely wasn't ready for this job back then. I was undiagnosed ADHD, had social anxiety and the fast paced environment was just so stressful.. I was a front area worker and I was mostly doing drink/desserts and drive thru on my after school shifts. I wasn't making friends and I wasn't too interested in it. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP and get my paych...

MetroPCS porting fun on a multi-month plan

3h ago

I tried to port into Metro while signing up for the 6 month $20 plan. The port didn't go through, apparently I must have fat-fingered some detail. I tried to sign-up again some days later and I couldn't with that number. I called customer service, they said they could fix it, but I wouldn't be able to sign up with that plan if they did. Apparently some 10 days later the number is considered to have a pending port status with Metro. I called their porting department directly and they said the same thing (couldn't sign me up for said plan if they helped me). I asked if I could create a new account with a new number to get that deal and then port-in the correct number and th...

Can’t trust their ordering

3h ago

Choose a different big box store. Ordered “custom” door on 11/24/25 which took 2 hours due to “computer issues”. Because of holiday told probably available about 1/15/26. Store received in February and a few days later (Tues 2/24/26) installer shows up (excellent guy). Installer determines the door is incorrect - the word Pantry would be facing inside the closet. They take it back. Weds 2/25 we go to the Arnold, Mo store and present the problem and they “supposedly” reorder but will call me with confirmation. Mon 3/2 I call back to same person we talked with. He is waiting for call back from vendor. We never hear from him again. Thur 3/5 we receive call from Lowe’s I...
