The Rainmaker4h agoThe pipes croaked as the boy worked the pump at the town well. Dust spat from the spigot, and he walked away, his bucket as empty as his heart. Not a cloud had formed or been seen in months around the state, much less the hidden collection of cottages and businesses the mountains hid. The men at times would take with them as many buckets and jars and basins as they could get their hands on and load them into their beat-up trucks and travel to the closest town, (sixty miles away), and get their water for the weeks there. But soon, those towns too were dry. It was startling, really, to see how quickly the fighting started. First there was prayer, and a search among the population to find a pos... How To Unblock YouTube at School4h agoThe Uncomfortable Truth About Unblocking YouTube at School in 2026 Look, I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. That tutorial you found from 2019 about changing `http://` to `https://`? Dead. The Google Translate proxy trick everyone swore by last year? Schools caught on by late 2025, and GoGuardian's AI now flags it in under a second. And that free VPN your friend told you about? It's either selling your data or so slow you'll age three years waiting for a 2-minute video to buffer. The school IT arms race isn't slowing down. It's accelerating. And in 2026, roughly 50% of all K-12 students in the United States—that's 25 million kids—are monitored by GoGuardia... How to Become Instantly More Attractive: The Psychology That Actually Works4h agoLook, we've all been there. Standing in front of the mirror, wondering what makes some people just magnetic while the rest of us feel invisible. I've spent way too much time down this rabbit hole, reading research papers, psychology books, and watching hours of body language experts dissect what actually makes someone attractive. And here's what blew my mind: most of what we think makes us attractive is dead wrong. The biggest game changer? It's not your face, your clothes, or even your body. It's something way simpler, and it takes exactly 3 seconds to implement. I'm talking about eye contact with a genuine smile. But not the fake, nervous grin you flash at ... Gurucul Next-Gen SIEM: Redefining Security Operations with AI5h agoThe modern enterprise faces an unprecedented challenge: managing vast amounts of security data while combating increasingly sophisticated threats. Traditional SIEM platforms, built on static rules and rigid architectures, are struggling to keep pace. Gurucul’s [Next-Gen SIEM](https://gurucul.com/products/next-gen-siem/) offers a breakthrough, combining advanced analytics, automation, and cloud-native flexibility to deliver a platform that is faster, smarter, and more cost-effective. **Why Legacy SIEMs Fall Behind** Legacy SIEMs often overwhelm analysts with false positives, require expensive scaling, and lack the agility to adapt to new attack vectors. They rely heavily on manual process... Is this how the HR layout is at YOUR store?5h agoIs this the correct order of leadership of the HR department at your store? Pedestri…*mumble mumble*5h agoMy friend’s kiddo passed their learner’s permit test - and to celebrate, her sibling went to their local grocery store cake department and asked them to write “RIP Pedestrians” on a generic cake. The person handed it back and said “it looks like I didn’t finish the word - but, the cake isn’t big enough for pedestrians.” 🤷🏻♀️ Built a B2B tool for furniture e-commerce, but struggling to reach the decision-makers. Cold outreach or niche communiti...5h agoI just launched [spacecheck.app](http://spacecheck.app), tool for furniture e-commerce stores. The tool converts 2D image of the furnitures to 3D model(with correct dimensions) and using webAR customer can check without measurement tape whether it will fit, so it can lower return rate and also speed up buyer's decision. My first validation of the idea, was to go to two stores - they agreed and i left there five laminated QR codes of 3D models(with analytics pinned). The idea was to verify, whether customers use AR features. **The problem** While the tech is ready and working, I'm hitting a wall with distribution. I have already tried: * sending cold emails to pr department... Do eye creams or serums actually work for you? Yes or No?6h agoI’m no stranger to eye creams, and have tried what feels like “all the good ones”. Either by brand: the supposed holy grail of La Mer, SkinCeuticals from my dermatologist (brand has other good products that worked for me), or by recommendation. The Inkey List, products from spas, your usual suspects at Ulta (US-based) and Sephora, plus higher end department store counters. Ranging from affordable, to moderately priced, to high-end. I received a new eye serum today from Beauty of Joseon, after I went on an internet search trying to understand what PDRN is as I kept seeing it advertised in certain products on Amazon of all places. Product was Medicube, still haven’t tried.) final... Seasonal to SETL6h agoInterviewed and got offered the role on the spot by the SD. I’m so so excited and grateful. I learned and developed pretty quickly, having started in late September, crosstrained in the whole department by November. Started showing up as a leader and brought up development in Dec/early Jan and my ETL immediately jumped on to advocate for me. Workplace politics aside, any tips team? Very high volume store, team of (now) 4 SETLs and a food service TL. Not new to team leadership and retail/food operations but will be to this role! Any idea how to change this?6h agoJust recently started in a new department that has me using the new cash registers in our store, but when I log in it displays my dead name (Trans and haven't used this name since a few weeks after I started here nearly 5 years ago) every single other part of my employee profile uses my preferred name, on the wire, in the me@walmart app, even the manager scheduling program this has already caused a few annoying conversations where I've had coworkers ask why my dead name is displayed and not my normal name - Ive never told anyone at work my dead name and it feels wrong for others to know it now I've already gone up the chain of command in my store, first to the ASM for my t... Hostile work environment7h agoI'm the only guy working at this store so it's always been hostile here. So ever since I started working here, it's always been a hostile work environment with the managers, but today was the final straw. I somehow made it 7 months into working here Today a manager was rambling and said to me something about time theft and "you think youre better than 13 dollars an hour?" Excuse me? **** yes I am, 13 dollars an hour for 4 hours is not ****. 13 dollars an hour is poverty, why aren't you working for 13 dollars if its so good then? I graduated college and have an engineering degree in May, but I accepted this job because the job market for technology is terrible a... Dillard’s has Vanilla and Clay bags!7h agoJust purchased this cutie today in store at Dillard’s. The associate said they just got the shipment in today (2/14). It’s labeled as Vanilla but I’d say it’s a true butter color in person. Lovely soft yellow that pairs beautifully with the brass hardware. I also saw Vanilla leather as well and Clay and blue suede Waverly bags, a vanilla bleecker, and clay Brooklyn 28 and 34. Clay is a beautiful color in person as well. Was this a silent release cause I heard nothing about this until someone posted their back-ordered vanilla bag?? Makes me wonder if this will also be a part of the 2/25 drop or if it’s department store only. 🤔 Day 45: February 14th, 20267h ago\#0045 Vileplume Sailing back from Three Island to Vermilion City, we return to Celadon’s Department Store to pick up a Leaf Stone for Febreze and evolve him into Vileplume. No drama. No tension. Not much else to say with this entry. Febreze replaces Moonshine the Clefable in the party, at least temporarily. Tomorrow, we return to r/PokemonLeafGreen where Leaf finally rounds out her team with the Bug/Grass-type Paras. And then we can work on the beginnings of a definitive Pokémon-catching machine..such as it is. Stay tuned! Seriously: why is the GDC so unclean?7h agoWhile I do think there is some truth to be found in the generalization that CS majors lack proper hygiene skills, I have been unable to accept that CS students alone are the sole reason\* for the physical condition of the GDC. If you read some of the other posts on here, as I have---searching for a more fulfilling answer---you'll see that discussions about the state of the GDC never develop past talking about the showering habits of the students who inhabit it. What many of those discussions fail to touch on is how institutionally unclean the building is. For instance: check out the (non-atrium) stairwells sometime. If you take a look down to the basement floor, you'll see the acc... Companies Blatantly Violating State and Federal Laws8h agoThere are State and Federal Civil Rights Laws purporting to protect disabled individuals and ensuring them "equal rights" under these laws. There is NO HOPE of almost all disabled individuals managing to get these laws enforced. For example, the law states that companies are to provide "reasonable accommodation" to disabled individuals who, due to being disabled, cannot access the services and merchandise of able bodied individuals. I have had major supermarket chains, on line retailers, and department stores deny me "reasonable accommodation" throughout my life since the '60's and '90s when these laws were enacted. In the State in which I liv... None of my coworkers or me wear our name tags and I already have the important information memorized (like my number to clock in). But I forgot my name tag in my uniform that my coworker very nicely took to throw in the bin to be cleaned. I heard from other coworkers at other points that we aren’t guaranteed to get the same uniform shirts back and it could really go to any store. My name tag itself has my full name (there’s two people with my first name in my department) and my Axonify username + the number to clock in. According to the hiring manager, the first three numbers of our clock in numbers are the store’s number. So I guess my question sums ... Teenage/young women fragrances - Vanilla Freesia9h agoAs someone who has really dove into the fragrance world this past year, a funny thing happened. I’m a mid 40’s male that finally discovered the world of fragrances outside of your standard department store designer options. I enjoy vanillas scents and had purchased Korres Vanilla Freesia, which I really love but it wasn’t something I was going to wear. Before deciding to return it, I let my young teenage daughter try it to see if she liked it and she absolutely loved it. She isn’t “into” perfumes yet but does dabble with the body sprays such as Sol de Janiero. With her liking of the Korres, I’ve been wanting to see what else out there that may be similar and safe for a younger ... Homedepot uses in-house associates instead of hiring for NEED 😮💨9h agoI work for the overnight freight team for unloading and let me just say pulling associates from the floor to help out is getting annoying. We use to have 7 people for unloading but they told us the standard amount needed for a truck is 6 people minimum. Two people moved on and another person stopped showing up. So now there's 5 of us and the sixth suppose person thats under employment is scheduled only Monday-Wednesday. But even she is unreliable when showing up and recently hasn't shown up to work for 6 weeks so safe to say she's no longer working at our store. We got 5 people but wouldn't mind having a sixth person help us out. So I'm holding down hope our store actu... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
