Kinda visible repair/total replacement. Bought this 12 years ago from a department store in Tokyo. Thought the blue leather was really cool. Fast forward to now, realised it was fake leather when everything started flaking off. Plus the depth of the bag was always a bit of a gripe of mine. Started unpicking everything in January, taking templates, adding some depth to both compartments plus another 2 small pouches to the front. Reused all the hardware, most of the internal fabric and mesh from the original bag except the buckle snapped on final reassembly. Replacement fabric is from a swag that I found and some navy drill cotton for the internal depth. I know the colour scheme doesn't...

Feedback on first ten (ish) pages of fantasy novel.

8h ago

Hello. This is the first 3500 words from my first draft (a very brief Prologue, then Chapters 1 & 2). I wanted to get some feedback on what is working and what isn't. I am very much an novice so I know there are craft issues, which I want to know about, but I'm interested in hearing about any and all aspects. If you do take the time to read, thank you, I really appreciate it. # Prologue: Agate’s First Words Agate was cursed on the third anniversary of her birth, the same night she spoke her first words. It was not a coincidence. As a babe, she giggled when she reached for the bound stone above her bassinet and cooed in her mother’s arms while she watched the light re...

Weber 57cm Compact v Original v B&Q Goodhome Elland v Char-Griller Wrangler

8h ago

Having returned my Aldi Kamado (unopened) after this sub persuaded me it was too much for my needs, I need some advice on which simpler charcoal bbq to get. I want a bbq that I'll use 3-5 times a year, easy to clean, not too much maintenance. I'll be able to keep it in a shed over winter or even in summer to avoid from rain so don't need a cover. Mainly cooking chicken and some mince burgers. Weber 57cm Compact - £110 from a local garden centre. No thermometer. Seems robust and has the brand reputation. Not sure if it has ash collection features. Weber 57cm Original - £170 from Johhn Lewis - seems to have a "one-touch cleaning system" but not really sur...

$MRAM Bull Case - Future of Memory

8h ago

Kerrisdale just dropped a massive short report trying to scare everyone out of **Everspin Technologies ($MRAM)**, claiming it’s a "fake AI memory stock" that belongs in a casino slot machine.  They are shorting the past, completely blind to the future. Here is the quick counter-thesis to print out and hand to them when they have to cover. **1. The Massive "Edge AI" Blindspot** Kerrisdale’s whole argument rests on the fact that Everspin doesn’t sell High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) to massive NVIDIA data center clusters. **No kidding.** They completely miss that the next phase of the boom is **Edge AI**—running AI inference locally on autonomous vehicles, smart ...

Critical Role, Marvel Studios, & more: Reedpop & Popverse have too much cool autographed stuff, so we...

Over the years here at Popverse and the broader, loftier towers of ReedPop, we have accumulated a lot of cool stuff. Between us, our friends in the Events Talent department, and our colleagues at Signet Collectibles, we have nearly 10 years of convention history stored away, and we don't want to keep it all to ourselves, despite how cool it would look in our offices and studio space. This month, ReedPop and Signet Collectibles are doing a special sale of almost a decade's worth of signed 8x10 headshots, posters, Funko Pops, and other weird (and cool) collector finds from over a dozen shows, including New York Comic Con, Emerald City Comic Con, C2E2, Florida Supercon, and more. felt inspired by yesterday’s hotdog post 😭🌭

9h ago

ok so i love this place and constantly feel inspired by people here - after seeing the [hot dog nails post](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/comments/1th5izg/tis_the_season/) yesterday it just kept haunting me and i had to give it a whirl at home. i love them so much. also in pictures 2 and 3 you can see my JustTheCuff, [which i first saw in this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/comments/1pexv4x/want_to_take_fancier_pics_when_you_dont_dress/) by u/MacktheSporker. its basically just a part of a sleeve only, for example for when it's warm weather and you want to have a nicer background for your nails but don't want to wear a warm sweather. i don't knit...

What its like working at Lowes in 2026

9h ago

I just finished a stint at Lowes. It was not what I expected. This is an honest review of what I experienced. I know some will agree with it and have experienced the same while others will harshly reject it (including Lowes management that troll Reddit, but their opinion is biased). But it is what I saw. PROS 1. Fellow workers were friendly to other workers. 2. Pay was ok. About $15 an hour. 3. You get to learn a variety of new skills from cutting chain, rangling carts, and cleaning up kid vomit (hey, some people consider that a pro, lol). But seriously, you can learn about different appliances, what type of material to use for a specific DIY project, and how to organize and maintain a s...

Small rant: Noticing alot of changes I don't like

9h ago

I have been with the company for 20+ years, I don't mind the work at all, it's just the ****** decisions they make. These decisions you can tell are/were from the people "higher up" that have never truly worked (physically) in the retail field. The ones that help keep the stores running (us)... I started in 2005. Where it actually made sense compared to now. I know things change in time but my god! I think it first started during Covid, and now with the new CEO who I have herd rumors is just an investment company, (so they are just looking for the $$) I have pretty much worked in all departments (cashier, cosmetics, photo, Inventory specialist and now shift leader) It is ...

Basically the title. I've had a rough few years. But I promised myself once I got back on my feet and sorted everything out, I'd treat myself to a Gameboy Micro. I used to have a Famicom edition years ago but I had to sell it, along with SO many other games and consoles. But I don't have to do that anymore. I can actually seek out and keep my things. Okay enough sappiness. I'm SO impressed that this console is practically mint condition. Like yeah I know the Japanese second hand market always has the advantage but it's still really impressive considering how old it is. It even came with a stamp from the department store from 2005. Nuts.

The Day You Change Your LinkedIn Title from Entrepreneur to Employee?

10h ago

There’s a special kind of shame that nobody writes about in startup incubators or discusses at conferences. It’s the shame that hits you when you open LinkedIn to change your title. Founder → Senior Manager. CEO → Head of Department. Entrepreneur → Employee. You’ve been putting off this moment for weeks. You tell yourself you’re “just testing a new phase.” You come up with explanations for friends, investors, and former colleagues. But deep down, you know: this is defeat. Or is it? I went through this myself. And here’s what I learned. # The Wave Is Receding The entrepreneurial wave of the last decade is pulling back. Store owners are closing up shop. Freelancers are ...

Lazy GM

10h ago

What does your store GM do to help out the different departments when necessary? I’m asking because my GM is one of the laziest I have ever seen. She’s either standing up by POS, or sitting in her *** in the office “on a call”. Even when at the registers, she’s constantly on her phone. She takes more vacations than anyone I’ve seen, and all she does it ***** about the 4 other managers not handling our workload and then hers. She ******* when tasks aren’t done instead of jumping in to help. SFS? “Why aren’t they done??” IA?? “Why haven’t you competed them? They’re supposed to be done everyday” DIFs? “Why are we showing 4%?” Maybe I’m overreacting but why do...

PSA from a former cook: Be very careful eating at Caltech Dining Halls (Browne)

10h ago

I’m a culinary worker with 15 years of professional kitchen experience, and I recently quit working at Caltech Dining Services (specifically Browne Dining Hall and the adjacent dorm kitchens). I want to give you all a heads-up about what is actually happening in the back of the house. I have never seen a kitchen operate with such profound institutional negligence. It is so bad that I refused to eat the food there during my own meal breaks. I have officially filed a comprehensive complaint with the Pasadena Public Health Department, but until they show up, you need to know what you're eating. Here is what is going on behind the doors: \* Severe Cross-Contamination & Temperat...

Google pay issue (my fault tbh)

10h ago

So I gave my card to a family member abroad to use briefly. They added it to Google Pay, which is fine, so they could use it in a local department store. After all was done, I asked them to remove my card from their Google account, but there's no way for me to know whether or not they did. Is there a way I can ensure that? At first, I thought I'd get a message from my bank that my card had been removed, just as I got a message that it had been added, but there's no sign of that.

Is this plant healthy?

10h ago

OK, so I bought this plant at a grocery store that has a pet department and it was bought in a plastic tube with gel on the bottom and it was listed as an aquarium plant. I have it in a small betta aquarium and I’m new to the hobby. I also started up a 10 gallon nano tank with tetra’s etc and I don’t have any real plants in there yet, but I have a couple species in there and after some rough start of ich and bullying my tank is harmonious, and healthy but all fake plants. Not attractive. I have artificial plants in the aquarium, but I wanted to introduce at least one new one and the beta likes it but why does it look so shabby? It’s a dying. I don’t know any advice. It’s hard ...

Nvidia-backed GIDS and high-bandwidth flash seen easing HBM bottlenecks for large AI models

11h ago

>Global technology companies including Nvidia and Amazon are advancing a new storage architecture that allows graphics processing units (GPUs) to directly control storage devices such as solid-state drives (SSDs), a shift that industry experts say could pave the way for the era of high-bandwidth flash (HBF) beyond high-bandwidth memory (HBM). >Song Ki-hwan, a professor in the Department of System Semiconductor Engineering at Yonsei University, said at the 2nd Semiconductor Device Frontier Summit on Sunday that Nvidia plans to introduce a GPU-Initiated Direct Storage Access (GIDS) architecture beginning with its Vera Rubin AI computing platform. "Nvidia is adopting a GIDS ...
