I have been participating in habitat restoration using rewilding methods for the past decade and documenting the diversity of a wild yard or as some call it, a slow yard. I want to take this minute to urge the community to stop using pesticides, harsh fertilizers, and weed cloth. The insect world is delicate and they are crucial to the food web. When we spray and feed, the harsh chemicals of commercial operations negatively impact the health of the soil and bugs. Sometimes, it's instantaneous. Sometimes, it's compounded over time. Got this special guy in, and it looks so good but it's got these black smudges around it. I've already tried the heat gun thinking it could just be wax but it doesn't respond. So I'm thinking about trying to get at it with a sponge and some Nikwax, but if you flip to the second photo you'll see why I wanted to ask the channel first! I'm sure a full re-wax would also help but it's such a gorgeous coat in its current patinated condition I'm hoping I don't need to. Any experience or suggestions appreciated!

Recently, my boyfriend did not take his ChapStick out of his work jeans so it melted and got on my 100% cotton sweater from J-Crew. I stupidly put it through a wash and dry cycle after to see if it would get the stain out (no treatment). That did nothing. Yesterday I sprayed the spots with spray dawn dish soap and let it sit for at least 2 hours. No rubbing because I was afraid of pilling the sweater. I also used some shout, again no rubbing. I put it through the wash with tide oxy clean pods, and the no heat just air dry. When I took it out the stains were still there.
