Airtel doesn’t fix my connection issue but also doesn’t refund the recharge amount (5k)

9d ago

Hello All, (Sorry for the long post) I live abroad but I am an airtel user and I keep it active as I need it for OTP purposes and so on. In February I returned from India and in February the package expired also during the end of February there was no network anymore and signal was lost, so I did a recharge of 4,999 Rupees which is international roaming package with one year validity expecting this could solve the issue. But the network still did not appear. Upon constant chat messages via their ****** app and multiple calls from my international number they were only misguiding me and always said they will get back to me, but never returned. After month of contacting them more 50-60 tim...

Airtel deactivated my SIM without notice 4 store visits, emails for reactivation

13d ago

I never thought something as basic as a mobile connection could turn into this much of a headache. My prepaid number on Bharti Airtel suddenly stopped working out of nowhere no warning, no SMS, nothing. Just \*\*“No Service.”\*\* Later I was told it’s a KYC issue (I had ported to Airtel back in 2017), but here’s the frustrating part: I’ve had to visit the Airtel store \*\*4 times\*\* . It took them 3 days for sim reactivation Every single time, instead of simply fixing the KYC and reactivating my prepaid SIM, I’m being pushed to \*\*convert to postpaid first\*\*. No clear explanation, just “this is the only way.” On top of that: • I had sent emails to customer care fo...

Nepali national, How do I get a prepaid SIM ?.

30d ago

So, I am a student here. I had an old SIM with me but it got damaged reason being it was very old. so, I recently went to Airtel store and said I am a foreign national I want a new SIM they said: you will need a Immigration document so I said our government does not issue immigration for coming to India infact immigration is specifically needed for those countries which require visa. He insisted to the fact that you need immigration along with passport. in this case I have passport but not immigration. secondly I went to VI store and they also said you need OCI of some kind. I said OCI is only for those having some Indian origin in their family. He said we need that then only we can give...

Title: Airtel stores tried to force ₹4000 postpaid + porting for simple reactivation SIM issue

Title: Airtel stores tried to force ₹4000 postpaid + porting for simple SIM issue I went to an Airtel store for a simple issue (SIM not working / replacement / basic service). Instead of fixing it, they told me straight: «“Prepaid transfer is not possible. You have to take postpaid, otherwise leave.”» I visited as many Airtel stores as I could in my area — every single one told me the same thing. They insisted on: - Postpaid only - Minimum 4 months - Plans like ₹899 + GST (~₹1000/month) - Total = ₹4000+ commitment They also told me to: - Port my Jio number to Airtel, even though it was already working They started KYC quickly and even charged ₹200, which was not re...

Airtel Physical SIM to eSIM transfer while in UAE (My experience)

60d ago

I’ve been researching how to switch my Airtel connection from physical SIM mode to eSIM mode recently. I’ve been using an iPhone 15 Pro for the past couple of years, and the only thing held me back from upgrading was this critical Airtel connection. I visited several stores, including Apple Store, SharafDG, Emax, and others, to inquire about their similar migration experience and later purchase the iPhone 17 Pro from them. Despite their assurances, none of them provided any comfort of a smooth migration process. They acknowledged the possibility of migration failure, which would necessitate a visit to the Airtel store in India to get the connection. After carefully considering all the ...

Airtel and Vodafone both refusing responsibility after porting a number – owner lives in the UK

66d ago

Posting here because I’m stuck in a strange telecom situation and hoping someone who understands how these systems work in India can help. My sister lives in the UK, but she had an Indian mobile number which was originally with Vodafone. During her visit to India in November 2025, she ported the number to Airtel. The porting process was completed at an Airtel store with proper KYC and the number worked normally afterwards. She returned to the UK and continued using the number until January 2026. After that, the number suddenly stopped working. Now when anyone calls it, the message simply says “The dialed number does not exist.” One important point: all outstanding bills for the numb...

Need help: Can someone else get a duplicate Airtel SIM on my behalf while I’m abroad?

67d ago

Hi everyone, I really need some advice 🙏 I’m currently in Dubai and I lost my Indian SIM card (Airtel). Because of that, I can’t receive OTPs or reset my UPI, and I’m kind of stuck accessing my bank stuff. I wanted to know if is it possible for my sister in India to get a duplicate SIM on my behalf? She can carry: \- My Aadhaar copy \- A signed authorization letter from me if needed But I’m not sure if Airtel will allow it without my biometric or presence. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did it work for you? Any tips or what exactly the store asks for? Would really appreciate any help or guidance 🙏 EDIT: I GOT MY DUPLICATE SIM MY SISTER WENT TO AIRTEL STORE ...

Cell service expiration

70d ago

It looks like a foreign tourist in India is required to apply for a new SIM card if he/she intends to stay longer than 90 days in India. For some reason the message has 1 January 2026, my service activation date, as the service termination date. Per the calendar, the termination date will be 31 March, meaning that I will apply for a Jio SIM card on 25 March when my current recharge expires.

Airtel SIM stopped working abroad (UK) – told physical presence in India is required for a duplicate SIM. Any workarou...

75d ago

Hi, I’m currently in the UK, and my Airtel SIM has completely stopped registering on the network (no signal, no roaming). It was working earlier on international roaming. Customer care says duplicate SIM issuance requires physical verification in India. I cannot travel back just for this. Has anyone successfully: * Converted a physical SIM to eSIM remotely? * Used Aadhaar-based authorisation for a family member to collect a duplicate? * Used Airtel Thanks app/email escalation to resolve from abroad? This number is linked to banking OTPs, so it's quite urgent. Any recent experiences or escalation contacts would help. Thanks! **Update (for anyone facing the same issue while ab...

Airtel SIM stopped working while I’m in the UK – being told I must return to India for replacement. Any advice?

75d ago

Hi all, I’m currently in the UK for work, and my Airtel SIM suddenly stopped working (no network at all). The problem is that this number is linked to my bank accounts, and I need it for OTPs. When I contacted Airtel customer care, they told me I need to physically visit India to get a replacement SIM. That’s not feasible right now. Has anyone dealt with this recently? Is there any way to: * Authorize a family member to get a duplicate SIM? * Convert to eSIM remotely? * Get a replacement issued through an Indian embassy or any other workaround? Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! **Update (for anyone facing the same issue while abroad):** Thanks everyone for the su...

Samsung Galaxy S25 incoming/SMS issues

90d ago

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra from India. I've been facing the following issues in last 5 days 1. Bank SMS OTP not coming/coming late or only coming after airplane mode is turned on/off 2. Anyone trying to call me is getting number not reachable/switched off frequently. This is happening 9 out of 10 times, again this issue gets resolved once I put phone on airplane mode and return back to normal Outgoing calls and 5G internet working perfectly alright Have tried all normal processes of turning phone off/on, resetting networking etc. I even visited Airtel Store, but they were like this is a Samsung S Series issue. Phone doesn't accept phone calls on 2G or something like t...

Airtel deactivated NRI's number after MNP, now at risk of losing 16 years old number.

138d ago

I ported my number from Reliance Jio (postpaid) to Airtel (prepaid). During porting, the Airtel representative explicitly told me that porting only happens once all outstanding bills are cleared. Based on that, I believed everything was settled. Later, Airtel claimed there was an overdue amount of around INR 300 with Jio. This appears to be the postpaid bill for a few days after porting. Once the number was ported, Jio could no longer fetch my bill using the mobile number. Payment was possible only via the Jio account number, which I was not aware of at the time. As soon as I learned this, I paid the amount in full. There are no pending dues now, and I have the transaction ID and proof. D...

Need Help: Airtel Returned Number – Postpaid to Prepaid/Porting Questions

162d ago

Hi, I’m an NRI living outside India. My Indian number was a Jio prepaid SIM that I had originally ported from Airtel years ago. About 6 months ago, my wife (who lives in India) forgot to recharge it, and the number was released by Jio and returned to Airtel. When she visited the Airtel store, they told her that I can get the same number back only as a postpaid connection. What I need to know is: Once I take the postpaid connection, is there any minimum waiting period before I can port the number to another service provider? Is there a minimum waiting period before I can convert that postpaid SIM back to prepaid within Airtel? I'm travelling to india for a 2 months vacation next w...

Worst IR experience

166d ago

Hi all, I stay out of india. Long story short : its been more than a month, my IR is so shiitty. 4g data works but call/sms , nope. Yesterday it worked for 30 min. I generated otp as well, then again it stopped today. One of my relatives went to the airtel store back in India, and the customer support executive said “ take sim on her behalf “ . I mean wtf? Data is clearly working so its not a sim issue. I have tried everything this ****** helpline chatbot suggests. I have also tried placing sim in different phone. I have also recharged ( normal prepaid local + IR more + IR sms rs. 98 pack + talktime 99 pack) Non of it works. Should I switch to jio? Please help.

How to get my old airtel sim number back - lost due to a missed recharge

178d ago

I've been in the US for about 10 years now. I forgot to recharge my mobile number this year and unfortunately lost the number. This number is attached to all my bank accounts in India. I've asked my father to reach out to the nearest Airtel store to get this fixed. Being remote residents (in districts, instead of metropolitan), they asked us to get this resolved in Hyderabad (this being our nearest city). Fortunately, it's not assigned to anyone else. I need to get this number back at any cost. I would like to know how to reclaim my old sim number.

📱 Airtel eSIM to eSIM Transfer for NRIs (Android → Android) — Finally Found a Working Process!

182d ago

# If you’re an NRI living abroad (like in the US) and trying to move your Airtel eSIM from one Android phone to another, you’ve probably hit this screen: >“Contact your service provider” And when you contact Airtel support, they’ll likely tell you: >“There’s no process for that. You have to visit an Airtel store in India.” 😩 Not exactly helpful when you’re on another continent. After a lot of trial and error, I finally figured out a process that **actually works** — no Airtel store visit required, even if you’re on international roaming. # ✅ What you’ll need: * An **active Airtel eSIM** on your old phone * Your **registered email ID** linked ...
