Thought I would try a grocery store for once as im unfamiliar with grocery stores in NC. Never again! Walmart Grocery it is. This was snacks, fruit, drinks, sandwich stuff and burgers, few frozen foods. Imagine if I bought a week of dinner food to eat at home every night for 1 or 2 weeks? $200-300 yikes! They said, HT has good food to grab and go that is hot and ready. Ehhhhh very bland! $17 store card SAVINGS? What a gimmick

Please buy this alfredo sauce that I love so they don't discontinue it

It's under $4 a jar at Harris Teeter (and wherever else they sell Simple Truth?). It's so good that I buy a few jars at a time.

Where to buy fresh mackerel?

Does anyone know where I can buy fresh mackerel fillets (not in a can)? Ideally toward western Raleigh or Cary area. Been to Whole Foods, Wegmans, Harris Teeter no one has it.

Great watch from him. The more we stay here on the island, the more at home we are with just chilling in the rental and cooking in the kitchen or having a low key meal at a food truck. We'll be down last week of May and we were thinking of how here at home there are always "go to meals" for me as I have a disability and have a need for "convenience" meals at times. I'm talking, everyone "knows" you go to Publix for a fresh $8.99 sandwich made on the spot. Or that Harris Teeter has $5 rotisserie chickens on Wednesdays only. Hit up a QT gas station for questionable hot dogs at rock bottom prices; best when high. However, Spinx stations have bitchin&#...

Bad experience with grocery pickup.

13d ago

So yesterday I had a really good paying shopping order at Harris teeter and a grocery pickup at a Giant food nearby low mileage. Shopping order had frozen stuff and cold stuff and I go to Giant and park in their pickup spot and call the number and they're like yeah that order is not going to be ready for pickup for like 2 hours. I didn't call support because I know how they randomly cancel the wrong order and it wasn't worth risking it so I unassigned and took the hit from the grocery pickup. I don't understand why I should be penalized to my completion rate for that kind of situation. They need to get their **** together and have better communication with the stores for ...

Are government-run grocery stores coming to D.C.?

15d ago

WaPo's editorial title here, *Are government-run grocery stores coming to D.C.?*, is primarily an argument against JLG's willingness to consider District-run groceries, with a subheadline saying the "socialist candidate for mayor has opposed cracking down on shoplifting, which is the root cause of the food deserts she wants to solve." The idea is modeled after NYC Mayor Mamdani's plan for his city to build a $30 million grocery store in Harlem that would be privately run. There are a variety of arguments against this, some of which are presented in the editorial: previous publicly-owned and/or operated groceries have failed; the costs of NYC's proposed grocery...

* I think my resume is good, but I'm getting nothing other than through networking. * I am targeting business development roles and open to any industry. You need to have a personality to be in sales, which I have. If I don't have a particular industry experience, I can educate myself about the product or service and sell it. I know I can; I've done it before! You can educate yourself about said product/service, but you can't suddenly educate yourself in having a personality for sales. * I'm currently in the DC area, which happens to have the highest unemployment in the country. * I'm open to relocating. * Tell us about your background and current employment sit...

An Unexpected Pairing: Spicy Cheese & Moscato

21d ago

I post on Thursdays because by now I have completely lost motivation for the week so I turn my attention to drinking and cheese. I’ve been hearing in the wine industry that Moscato is great with spicy food, so I took myself right on over to my local grocery store and picked up a quality Moscato + two spicy cheeses that looked interesting. **Result:** Moscato & Wood River’s Triple Pepper Cheddar Gruyère was delightful! But Moscato & Milton Creamery 4 Alarm Cheddar did not work at all. **Why did the spicy Cheddar Gruyère work?** This cheese from Wood River Creamery was creamy, slightly sweet, and had layers of spice that built gently. Combined with the slightly e...

Freezer-friendly meal prep that feels like a meal

22d ago

Hi meal prep community. I’m lost and seeking recommendations. I’ve spent the day skimming this sub and saving posts, but I’d also like to crowdsource directly. **TLDR, read on for more detail:** my friend is terminally ill and her sisters need to eat while they accompany her in the hospital. I’m seeking creative meal-prep ideas for **things that freeze well,** could easily be reheated and eaten in a hospital room (no soup), and keep food exciting while they navigate this hard time. **More specifics:** My friend is likely dying. Her sister, who is also my friend, is taking leave from work, and another sister is coming to town, possibly indefinitely. There isn’t much anyone who isn...

Anyone else noticing a lack of frozen food?

I live in NC and have been noticing that both Publix and Harris Teeter’s stock of gluten free frozen food has been awful recently, even compared to a few months ago. I could be going crazy but it feels like there’s much less

While HelloFresh previously offered meal kits in select physical retail stores like **Giant Food**, **Harris Teeter**, **Meijer and thru Delivery companies.** it has largely transitioned away from these retail partnerships to focus on its digital "Market" platform.  As of March 2026, the pizza is available for direct shipment to customers in the following 10 U.S. state...

Tell me your holly springs lore or some weird facts.

32d ago

The high school once shared the building with the holly grove elementary students. We didn't have a middle school so you had to attend Fuquay-Varina middle. Before Walmart, Harris teeter and target; you had lowes food or food lion. Left turns were a thing...then a fist fight happened 55 wasn't crowded in the morning. Harris lake was clean. Wendy's was next to the post office. Now its a Mexican restaurant. The hunt center was a run down closed school. (I think it was black only) The pimento tea room was a regular house with semi racists Obama picture on it. That building thats falling apart before you hit mama Mia and the down town area was also an all bl...

Best Grocery Store?

34d ago

In your opinion, what is the best all around grocery store. Considering price, quality, all factors, what grocery store would you say is your favorite? Or a ranking. Not counting bulk/member stores. (Food Lion, Trader Joe’s, Harris Teeter, Publix, Aldi, etc.)

Frozen veggies?

34d ago

Does anyone have any trusted brands of frozen vegetables? I usually get grocery delivery from Walmart because my disabilities make it hard for me to go in person, and multiple times I’ve bought frozen veggies believing they were safe because the product images show no allergen warnings but then I’ve received them and the bag says “may contain traces of wheat” which I’m not risking as a celiac. It’s so frustrating that the labeling is not accurate online so I keep wasting money! Anyone have any brand recommendations that are completely safe? Thank you so much! Edited to add: I’m in the southern east coast US. Walmart, Aldi, Publix, food lion, Harris teeter, Target, and wegmans ...

Quick serve Chinese?

37d ago

Hey Bull City - Where can I find good quick serve (American) Chinese in North Durham? No Panda Express around me! And the food court at South Point is too far. Harris Teeter was pretty bad. Just looking for some orange(ish) chicken, lo mein, maybe an egg roll for lunch today. My normal Chinese spot takes too long, just want to walk in, point at some items and leave with a styrofoam tray overflowing with MSG.

Stench at Food Lion 150/Old Salisbury Road

Does anyone notice the stench? OMG, it smells like unwashed, dirty *** or open sewer/septic! I thought the fish displays at Harris Teeter stunk!
