Feeling lost on parenting our autistic teen

2h ago

Background- our 15yo (almost 16) autistic & adhd son is overall a great kid! He’s very neutral so we rarely have emotional out bursts in a negative manner unless he’s gotten himself into trouble. He’s independent- can make basic foods for himself with a microwave or things from the fridge, good with his hygiene, dressing himself, getting on the bus for school, etc. Responsible with his chores- his laundry, cleaning his room & bathroom, caring for our pets, can be left unattended for hours with our pets with no issues. We get great remarks from his teachers and he’s doing awesome in his ASD program that is focused around building life skills for adult transition. He re...

Paid restitution in full but law firm now asking for more money

2h ago

I’m 18 location: Wisconsin. I was fired from a grocery store after taking about $135. Police were called but I was not arrested, and there is no criminal case on CCAP. I later received a civil restitution letter from a law firm representing the store demanding $125. I signed a restitution agreement that clearly states the total amount owed was $125, signed it with a witness present, and paid the $125 in full. I have proof of payment and a copy of the signed agreement. After paying, I checked online and my case no longer appears. A couple weeks has passed and I have gotten another letter stating that I’m behind on payment and was confused so I called the office, and they told me the $12...

Purely prompt generated mobile game.

2h ago

I recently posted to this subreddit asking for some advice, and now I think I can answer my own question and hopefully reassure anyone else looking to make a mobile game or even something greater. https://www.reddit.com/r/aigamedev/comments/1oxahjh/getting_very_mixed_up_on_my_options_for_prompt/ The answer to my specific question was basically to use Flutter. I started off on my windows pc using an android emulator, vs code, github copilot and was really liking the results. Then opus 4.5 came out and that REALLY gave me the confidence to be able to actually do this, it is so **** smart. Because I've always wanted to deploy something to the app store, and the results i was seeing with...

Once upon a time, a boy named Freddie was walking along a beautiful beach. The sand was white and soft, like a blanket covering the whole beach. The sky was illuminated by the sun’s pink and orange rays, lighting up the entire world. This view blew Freddie away so much that he wasn’t looking where he was going. All of a sudden, Freddie winced as a sharp pain shot through his foot when he accidentally stepped on a piece of broken glass. The piece of glass was small and hard to see, but it caused tremendous pain.  It became hard for Freddie to walk because every time he put pressure on his foot, he would feel an intense pain, like a knife stabbing through his foot. He adapted a limp and ...

The Caravaneer: Chapter VII

2h ago

Chapter VII We moved in a line that barely qualified as walking. The Brahmin stumbled ahead of us, led by Barker’s shaking hand, its two heads lolling with exhaustion and fear. Luke followed behind it, stopping often to brace himself against rocks or collapsed branches. I brought up the rear—mostly because I couldn’t keep pace anymore. Every step sent a pulse of fire up my spine. I could feel the shrapnel grinding deeper into muscle with each movement. Radiation sickness was settling in now—hard. A metallic taste coated my mouth. My joints felt like rusted hinges. My stomach churned with every breath. It wasn’t exhaustion. It wasn’t dehydration. It was the poison inside ...

First set up...how is it?

The Caravaneer: Chapter VI

2h ago

Chapter VI The following day felt off from the beginning. Too quiet. Too still. The kind of quiet that wasn’t peace—just an absence of noise waiting to be filled. Barker led us along a longer route, cutting eastward before curling back south. It added nearly five miles, but he insisted it was safer. “Patterns get you killed,” he’d said. “Raiders got eyes. Gotta stay unpredictable.” No one argued. After Martown, after the storm, after the bodies… unpredictability sounded like the smartest thing we had left. By late afternoon we reached the edge of an old dried-up pond—its cracked basin wide as a courtyard, the mud petrified and split into jagged plates. Sparse reeds l...

How to allocate vacation budget

2h ago

hello! we have set aside 2k for a family vacation this summer for five nights. we have the rental which will cost approximately $1,100. fuel cost estimate is $200. I’m wondering how to allocate the remaining $700. we need to budget for groceries, eating out, exploring the town and boardwalk. most of the time we’ll be at the beach which is free so I’m assuming more money will be spent on food than anything. we are two adults and two kids under 5. what’s the best way to estimate costs for these categories? thank you!

How do you eat?

2h ago

Presumably most of us identify as left-handed, to a greater or lesser degree, and I somewhat recently learned that some people switch their forks to their non-dominant hand to cut their meat with a knife using their dominant hand, and then switch back to pick up the food they’ve cut with their dominant hand. I’m curious how many of us in this sub eat that way, or eat as I do, which is to say I always use my fork with my left hand and my knife with my right. I never switch and there are never any exceptions. Tbh it would feel super weird and unsafe to attempt to use a steak knife with my left hand, even though I’m “left-handed.” What say my fellow lefties?

AITA for asking my friend to leave?

2h ago

AITA for telling my friend she’s not allowed back after we asked her to leave? I (18F) asked my friend (20F) who was staying with my family to leave, and I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong. For context, I still live at home with both my parents. My dad (50M) is disabled and cannot walk normally, uses food stamps, and cannot work a regular job. In November, my friend messaged me asking if she could stay with us until she could “get back on her feet.” We agreed to help her. Within two days of staying with us, she broke house rules, including no smoking and no intimacy (her room was directly above my parents’ room). We later found multiple items filled with weed, and she never helped...

Coworker and I were savage to our colleague

2h ago

A coworker and I worked as professionals in a small office setting about a decade ago. A third coworker (Susan) tried unreasonably throwing us under the bus with our boss, which we overheard one day and we grew a slight hatred towards Susan, among other reasons to dislike her. Over a few month period, we would routinely stay late after work when everyone left to do the following: 1) Spit in Susan's food, snacks, and drinks 2) Spit on her personal belongings she kept in her office, including headphones, jackets, chairs, office equipment she would use daily, etc 3) replaced some of the drink Susan had in the fridge with toilet water (it was "clean" toilet water) 4) Clipped ou...

Going on year 16 of migraines and I feel like I’ll never be able to “get my life together”…. Buys healthier groceries — they go rotten & go to waste because of migraine nausea and I can only keep comfort foods down. Wants to spend more time outdoors — never a perfect temperature, humidity, pressure. Wants to exercise more regularly — body & mental fatigue are playing catch up from a migraine episode and the thought of exercise is exhausting. Wants to get on a better sleep schedule — literally playing catch up on sleep when I can OR trying to not oversleep to trigger a migraine. Wants to travel more — why bother spending the money when I’ll most li...

Gym recommendations northern Thailand

2h ago

I am looking for a gym/training camp suggestion in or around Chiang Mai. some background info: I used to train regularly for about 4 years (around 2x/week). I’ve never fought, but I’m open to the idea in the future. We had a child a year ago, moved to a new city, I started a new job and a second degree,... it was a lot last year. We’re currently taking a trip to Thailand so I can recover/boost my Muay Thai skills. We have so far stayed at a small gym with on-site lodging on an island in the south. My partner has a wonderful time with our child, the all-in-one package of 2x/d classes for me and tasty food for both of us are great. There's a small pool even and almost no mosquito...
