Latest Comments & Reviews & Feedback & Social Media Sharing of the Grocery Store Latest Community Discussions About Grocery Stores in USMallrats themed birthday party3h agoWhy aren't more of us literally partying at the deadmall? I was sitting there for a peaceful hour today with a bunch of moms and nannies who let their kids go wild at the enclosed play structure (and outside of it) and it was honestly amazing. None of us spent a dime. Many malls have play areas, bathrooms, 1 or 2 food vendors, and are virtually empty without a sign of mallcops. There are no open stores and nothing that can be seriously damaged by kids. It's unlikely that anyone would give you trouble for bringing in pizza or snacks and there are tables literally everywhere. There's even music playing so you don't need a playlist or dj. I also doubt anyone would be a... Learn Geography: AV Countries - Fun Family Trivia - iOS App3h agoCheckout our first educational app under studio Aavyav. The app is called **Learn Geography: AV Countries**. The goal was simple: turn kids’ screen time into something interactive and educational instead of passive. The app focuses on learning countries and flags through play: * 🎤 Kids can answer using voice recognition, solving jigsaw puzzle, 3D bubble popping to guess the correct country flag, and so on.. * 🫧 Interactive quiz and history, * 🏳️ Learn country names, flags, sports teams, landmarks around the world, and basic world fun facts * 👨👩👧 Designed to be **kid-safe**, simple, and family-friendly It’s a fully **native iOS** app, built with a lot of care ... I realized I don’t actually understand my own spending… so I built something to ask my money questions3h agoDespite everything being digital today, I still struggled to understand where my money was going. Every month we would look at bank statements and still ask the same question: **“Where did all the money go?”** I would ask my partner and she would immediately say she’s not spending on parlor or shopping. It wasn’t a blame game. We genuinely wanted to understand the money flow. But several pages of statements don’t really answer that. You see transactions, but you can’t ask questions like: * Where am I spending the most? * How many times did I buy coffee this month? * How much did groceries actually cost me? * What small expenses are quietly adding up? At some point I had ... Building a Real-Time Transcoding Pipeline with GStreamer and Swift3h ago*Part 1 of 6: Audio/Video Streaming with Swift and GStreamer* When I started building ShowShark, a personal media server that streams to Apple devices, I needed a transcoding engine that could take any media file and produce H.264 or HEVC in real time. AVFoundation can decode media, but it cannot transcode arbitrary formats into a WebSocket-friendly stream. FFmpeg is the standard answer, but its C API is enormous and its licensing is complicated. GStreamer offered something neither could: a modular pipeline architecture where I could wire together demuxers, decoders, and encoders like plumbing, and pull individual encoded frames out of `appsink` elements for delivery over the network. Th... Why did security get called on my husband today?3h agoHe shops there Every Day. We spend… or should say spent hundreds of dollars on prescriptions alone a month. I got the email that my meds were ready for pick up at noon but when my husband went to get them at 7pm they weren’t ready… so he shopped for items we needed… only person in the store and the intercom kicks in for security on aisle 2… then security followed my husband through the whole store. Was his hoodie with his work place logo on it inappropriate attire, was it his beard, his plan white hat, his shoes… it couldn’t possibly be simply a man carrying toilet paper and cat food… going back to check on prescriptions again… then going to get more boring household items... Shrimps on a Plane: the saga of my week so far3h agoI got these beautiful yellow neos at Aquashella Orlando this weekend! But I live near Philly.. my plan was to buy them on Sunday, take them on my red-eye flight home Monday morning in my messenger bag and have them acclimated before the end of the day Unfooooortunately due to some crazy storms, most of the flights out of Orlando were canceled for this morning, including mine. The next available flight was for Tuesday and it isn't going to land until 8 pm 😭 we've been trauma bonding and drinking Bahama Mama's all day to keep us all emotionally stable, and I took them for a walk down to the hotel pool earlier so I think they probably enjoyed that. I added the süsswassertang... The Error of "Ego Death": Why Hermeticism Demands Self-Knowledge, Not Self-Annihilation3h agoA common hurdle for many entering esoteric studies is the pervasive modern idea of "ego death"; the desire to completely detach from the self-identity to escape the reactive or conditioned mind. But in the Hermetic context, this effort is a mechanical error. To completely detach from the self is to dissociate from precisely the vessel that connects you to the divine. To do so is to fall pray to dissocation and potentially leading to an even more severe spiritual injury. The Hermetic path does not ask for self-annihilation. It demands the meticulous removal of what is untrue about the self: the self-limiting beliefs, the self-deception, the self-inflation. The only thing you must ... Lasagnia3h agoAfter hitting 2 separate dollar stores looking for soy sauce for fried rice for dinner tonight i hit the local grocery store and i noticed the key ingredients were on sale so i went on a but of a tangent and i grabbed the ingredients for lasagnia for a little less than $25. i already had the pasta, eggs, parmesan, and seasonings which isnt bad considering the yield will be around 6,000 calories and will feed me for 3-4 days, i will actually cook it sometime this week, likely friday and will update the post then, with picture of the process and results, and a commentary on same, it is the best lasagnia recipe from taste of home, it yields 12 servings and is both relatively time and labor inte... Built a working allergen detection API for grocery retail apps - looking for a buyer or licensing partner3h agoHey everyone, I built AllergApp - a REST API that detects all 14 EU-regulated allergens from a product barcode and suggests safe alternatives. What it does: Scan any barcode → instant allergen detection Suggests safe alternative products (great for retail upsell) Returns nutrition data, Nutri-Score, ingredients Response time < 300ms Tech stack: Node.js + Express API (live on Railway) React PWA demo app (live on Netlify) Data: Open Food Facts (3M+ products) Why I'm selling: I'm better at building than scaling and I'm in need of money right now and only things that I've got are my projects. Looking for someone in the grocery/ retail/food tech space who can take ... Do The Subaltern Speak in Tongues? How Charismatic Prayer Inspires Spirit-Filled Activism, Lecture April 7 by Josh Brahi...3h agoDo The Subaltern Speak in Tongues? How Charismatic Prayer Inspires Spirit-Filled Activism, Dr. Josh Brahinsky Public Lecture: April 7, 6-8pm, Room 7000 (SFU Harbour Centre) Simon Fraser University In 1906, people spoke in tongues and built a multiracial movement, often led by women, sometimes calling for class warfare and blood to run in the streets. In 1930, charismatic evangelicals led the fight against big-box stores in Appalachia. By 1978, most had joined the Moral Majority. Many were in the chambers of the US Senate on January 6, 2021. One thread runs through all these moments: prayer as the deliberate surrender of body, emotions, and mind—and the radical social energy that surren... Five years ago, via text, before he cut me out of his life. Now he wasn't answering his ******* phone. *“Hey, you've reached Alex!”* I met Alex Locke in the fifth grade. I suffered from chronic headaches as a kid, and Alex lost time a lot, sometimes blanking out whole days. According to Alex, it was like being switched off. Due to his condition, the boy fell asleep a lot, sometimes tumbling down the stairs during his episodes, which meant he was always in the nurse’s office with a head injury, or curled into a ball snoozing. I wasn't as sick as Alex, but I liked to sleep off my h... Is there a possibility to die of winter cold3h agoHi everyone, I’m an incoming MSCS student from Hyderabad, India, and I’m having a minor existential crisis about the weather. To give you some context: I come from a tropical climate where "cold" is 20°C (68°F) and "summer" is a casual 47°C (116°F). I have literally **never** seen 0°C (32°F) in my entire life, let alone lived in it. I've been looking at the weather charts for Champaign-Urbana and the "Wind Chill" numbers look like something out of a sci-fi horror movie. **A few questions for the survivors:** 1. **Am I going to die?** (Hyperbole, but seriously, how shocking is the transition for someone from the tropics?) 2. **The "Gear&q... I've Been Cheating on My Abuser3h agoI made a post 3 months ago about an assault. I know I should have left. Things continued to happen. I've been kicked, punched, and choked. They also killed one of my new baby pet frogs. It wasn't done to hurt me (allegedly). They claimed immense guilt, but revealed they cannot be trusted around small animals. As a result, without my permission, they returned the remaining frogs I had to the store while I was at work (8 hour shifts, full-time), thinking I didn't care about them because I wasn't around to interact with them. I'm starting to realize how much of a detrimental red flag killing a small animal is. That if my partner lacks the self control to not hurt some... Canceling credit card/ not using them.3h agoHello everyone I need some help on whether or not to cancel any credit cards I have, I spend a lot on mainly dining and on drug stores, I go to the grocery store sometimes but I’m not sure if I should keep the card. Whether you're looking at a startup, pre-IPO, or public company, understanding your total compensation shouldn't require a finance degree. Existing tools out there are either hidden behind paywalls, trying to upsell you, or just not that helpful. So, a few of us engineers put this together. Here’s what it does: * Offer Letter Grade: Get a clear, instant grade so you know if your offer is actually competitive. * Equity Exit Scenarios: See realistic projections of what your options/shares (ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs) could be wor... Had to put down my 16 year old cat today. Devastated.3h agoToday we had to say goodbye to Smokey, our pet cat of 16 years. Ziggy (our pet dog) feared him, despite being 5 times his size. Smokey was Top Dog but Ziggy's going to miss him. He was hilarious in many ways. He was very "special needs". He could walk under a tall dog between their fore legs and hind legs without batting an eyelid. The dog would look so shocked he wouldn't even chase him because he appeared so "ballsy". Obsessed by food. He'd come up to our bedroom at about 3am with his "routine" to get you to feed him. First he'd headbutt you repeatedly. If that didn't work he'd mieoouw for hours. If that didn't work (at 4am... Need help with tasks, schoolwork, errands, or just someone who listens? I got you! (Help me raise surgery funds)3h agoHi! Had my surgery, did not go as expected3h agoI went in Thursday at 5am fur what was supposed to be a laparoscopic robotic hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. Said it works take 1-3 hours and I’d go home later that day. Woke up after a 6 hour surgery to be told after he cut me 5 times the uterus and mass was stuck to the bladder and too big to get out. He says it was “concerning” how hard the tissue and stuff was strong the cervix and bladder. I asked if that meant more stand he said no but didn’t explain it was concerning. Ended up spending 5 days in the hospital, came Sunday night with all kinds of meds including blood thinners. Was on a catheter the entire time which was fine since I could not get out if bed m.
