Is $1,000 for groceries/food for 3 months realistic? (australia)3h agoI’m starting full-time work in March, but I need to save some money until then. Over the next three months, I want to limit my spending to $2,000 total. About $1,000 will go toward bills, which leaves me with $1,000 for everything else like groceries and food. Is that realistic? Spouse with incurable cancer - useless inlaws and a fear for the future.3h agoHey everybody - I'm so grateful to have found this space and to have you read this at all. I'm finally processed everything that happend this year and feel clear-headed enough finally to present this and ask for help. Back in February my spouse was on vacation with my inalws - I am NC with his FIL since he escalated racism over the years that climaxed with him slurring me out of nowhere a couple years back - when he had a seizure and an MRI discovered he has brain cancer. They stabilized him before sending him to specialists across the country to get surgery that will hopefully give us more time. Luckily he has an aunt close by where he got his treatment and they allowed us to sta... My Experience With the Food on AerLingus Transatlantic Flights3h agoJust adding my experience here because I know a lot of people ask about this. I flew to Dublin from the west coast on a \~10 hour flight each way. The outbound flight to Dublin left in the late afternoon and was overnight, arriving mid morning. The inbound flight was a day flight that left mid morning from Dublin and returned mid afternoon on the west coast. On the outbound flight, they served dinner about 1 hour after takeoff. There was a choice between chicken and rice or pasta and red sauce w/ cheese. Both options came with a roll, a small pudding-like cake, a side salad and water. About 1 hour before landing, we were given small egg and cheese sandwiches for breakfast (there was a v... My 6 y/o Boston passed from Lymphoma3h agoLast week, Squiggleton passed away at the age of 6 and I wanted to share my experience. He had been diagnosed with Lymphoma back in April, shortly after his birthday, but it was initially caught because he was experiencing a hyphema in his eye (which is blood in his eye where the color would otherwise exist) - I thought he got bopped and took him to an emergency vet. At the time, they gave him some steroid drops and noted how his lymph nodes were enlarged and that we should get him checked out, so I did, the next available time for my vet. At that appointment, the regular vet told me it looked like cancer and that he probably had 2 months and that we could put him on predisone or pursue c... I built Boofa, a macOS app for quick-capture floating notes with 1-click export to Obsidian3h agoIn my mind, tools like Obsidian are designed with one core assumption: everything you write down is meant to be kept long-term and revisited many times. But in my day-to-day work, a lot of what I write doesn’t fit that assumption. I have tons of things that are purely temporary, for example: 1. I’m about to join a meeting and want to quickly jot down a few talking points. 2. I’m about to start a task and just need to list out the steps 1, 2, 3, 4. When you use Obsidian for this kind of throwaway content, it treats it exactly the same as important, evergreen notes: you pick a folder, create a new file, think of a title, then finally start writing… For this type of note, th... My partner of over a year posts on social media like completely single3h agoI've been with my partner Taylor for a year and a half. We've been living together for 6 months. Things are good in real life. We're happy, we spend all our time together, we've met each other's families. But you would never know I exist if you looked at Taylor's social media. Taylor posts on Instagram constantly. Multiple times a week. Stories every day. But it's all solo content. Selfies with captions like "living my best life" and "good vibes only." Photos from restaurants we went to together, cropped so I'm not in them. Check-ins at places but no mention of who they're with. We went on vacation last month. A whole week a... Do you guys have “Please Me, Daddy” link? TYIA3h agoMy fiancé is gay Gracie My fiancé is gay. That was the thought echoing through my head as I stood there frozen, watching a scene I could never unsee. I stared at the man thrusting into my fiancé’s ***, and at Charles moaning like a ******* ***** in heat. This was my fiance, the man I was supposed to marry in five days. The man I had shared a bed, a future, a life with for five whole years. But he was there, legs spread wide, eyes rolled back in bliss I had never seen cross his face when he was with me. I couldn’t breathe anymore, everywhere felt like it was spinning. The sound of skin slapping against skin filled the room. I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t. My eyes stayed locked... I bullied a girl into an ED relapse because I was jealous of her.3h agoSo I (21,F) used to be a real mean girl. I was a bully. I’m taking really awful ****, embarrassing girls and talking behind their back, manipulating them and setting up situations to make them look bad or to just straight up hurt them. I’ve cut a girl's hair before because it was longer than mine, I’ve made people cry and it was all really easy for me. Nothing really came of it until after high school. I had chilled out a lot post graduation but could still be kinda mean. In uni I met a group of really nice girls that I wanted to be friends with, but it felt like something was stopping us from getting close. That made me sit back and think about how I acted and why. Simply put ... A hidden gem for gardening tools in the US: Bowman Handles3h agoFirst off, I am not affiliated with this company at all. I have just been going to them for a long time, ever since I was into gardening. With the world so economically chaotic, I just want to share them so they can get more business and continue to provide good stuff for us green thumbs. Bowman Handles. They principally deal with wooden replacement handles for yard tools and ag tools, shovels and pitchforks and stuff, but they also offer complete tools. They get all of their complete tools from Tramontina. If you know cookware and/or machetes, you’d probably know by now that Tramontina provides real diamonds in the rough, solid no-gimmick tools made of wood and steel for incredible pric... Ryan Reynolds’ Business Empire: A Dog-and-Pony Show of Self-Hype and Exaggerated Wealth3h ago**TL;DR** Ryan Reynolds has built a business empire that looks brilliant on the surface but runs on hype, “clever” marketing, and apparently other people’s money, including taxpayers’. * He sold Aviation Gin in a deal “worth $610M,” but he only got approximately $100–120M. The rest was tied to performance goals. * He flipped Mint Mobile after plastering his face all over it. He owned around 25 percent and cashed out about $300M when it sold to T-Mobile. Again, this was largely due to branding the company with his celebrity. * He bought a small Welsh football club (Wrexham) with Rob McElhenney and received widespread praise for “saving” it. However, the club also recei... Statistics for the 2025 Holiday Shopping Season: by the Numbers3h agoThe holiday season is now in full swing. According to the National Retail Federation, 45% of consumers have already started their holiday shopping. So, I wanted to share some key holiday statistics from analysts, economists, and other retailers. These might help show how this year will be different from years past. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ **The “Must-Know” Point:** Economic anxiety is top of mind right now. The majority of consumers in the NRF survey (57%) said they expect the economy to weaken in the year ahead. An estimated three-quarters of customers already anticipate finding higher prices when they go to buy. That mindset has led gift-givers to lower their pla... World Soil Day (5 Dec) is celebrated to remind us that soil is a living system that sustains our food, water, climate, a...3h agoSwipe through for some eye-opening facts about this hidden world beneath our feet. $.025 for groceries3h agoI was pretty pleased to find that there is a Dashmart directly along my husband’s work commute. We’re getting 18 eggs, goat cheese, shallots, and peppers for $0.25. Plus, we get a $0.51 credit for a pickup order! For those who don’t have any grocery stores that allow pickup orders, it’s worth seeing if you have a Dashmart nearby. I sorted by deals to find items on sale that we might actually use. Since I use the card primarily for lounge access, this is a nice cherry on top. My husband has the preferred card, so we plan on activating the promo for him too for an additional once a month credit. $30 of groceries a month for minimal work makes me willing to play the coupon game. I took a standard SMP and customized EVERYTHING to fit a Honey Theme. Custom 100-Level Pass, Dynamic Market, and 0% P2W....3h ago**👋 Hey everyone!** I have been working tirelessly on a passion project called **HoneySMP**, and we are finally ready to open the hive doors! We were tired of generic servers with boring economies, so we coded our own systems from scratch to make the "grind" actually feel rewarding and strategic. **🍯 What makes us different?** * **📉 Dynamic Honey Market:** The economy is alive! Prices for items fluctuate every week based on supply and demand. You have to be smart about when you sell your gold or crops. * **🎫 The Honey Pass:** A fully custom 100-Level Battle Pass. You don't just buy ranks; you grind missions (mining, farming, hunting) to unlock free rewards, cra... My (F 27) relationship with my partner (M 29) is falling apart - and I don't know what to do anymore?3h agoHey guys, I'm reaching out to you because I am in true need of help - I just don't know what to do anymore. My partner (M 29) and I (F 27) have been together for a bit more than four years. And - to say the least - our relationship has been tumultuous. This summer we've moved in together (after four years of long-distance) and all we do it bud heads. I do love him a lot, but I feel like he's not willing at all to put in the effort for us to really be a couple. A bit of background info: We both struggle with ADHD, while he was diagnosed as a child, I just recently received my diagnosis. He is originally from the US, but moved to Europe for his Master - that&... So uh, I ended up scoring a $1000+ neogeo mvsx arcade machine.3h agoAppologies, this is a long post so bear with me. So I'm not entirely sure how exactly how this all went down or what exactly happened but I wanted to buy a neo geo arcade and was advertised as $760 with $300 shipping so I paid it. The seller then told me that it did not meet the shipping standards and that it'll cost an additional payment. I was confused and blindsided and he told me that because it was shipped via aliexpress it was overweight and an additional fee would be charged which turns out to be another $322. I basically said I wasn't going to do that and he suggested I pay an offline order. I didn't, instead I just said I'll pay in installments. So I used ... I’m a 25 year old guy living in Austin, Texas and I could really use some honest advice on lowering my monthly expenses. I work a normal full time job and I make about 3900 dollars a month after taxes. I live alone in a small one bedroom apartment. Nothing fancy. Just a basic place that is close enough to my work so I do not spend too much on transportation. Here is what my monthly budget looks like right now: Rent: $1600 Food: $450 Transportation: $600 Utility bills: $320 Health insurance: $450 After everything is paid I feel like I barely have anything left. I have been trying to cut back but I am not sure where to even start. Rent is expensive everywhere so I do not know... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
