I have very recently been introduced to the fact there are more to orchids than just what I've seen in a grocery store. Now I \*crave\* to collect these too, but I was also told every orchid species needs different care and usually like humid environments? I've heard they are difficult to care for and others say they are the easiest thing to care for. What would you say? Feel free to talk me out of orchids, if it's the best for my sanity it's fine. A small local garden center I love had some STUNNING orchids, we each fell in ... Navi Mumbai has so much happening - we might be neighbors and not even know it. The disconnect is heartbreaking!3h agoThis is going to be a long post as I have to tell the back story first. Bear with me please! We have a stray cat that we take care of. He is allowed in the sunroom through a cat flap and occasionally inside the house. He has been on a streak of bringing us smaller animals. He doesn't eat them but brings them to us as present. It's heartbreaking and I don't know what to do and we have tried lot of things. Most of them are alive so I catch and release them away from him. One day he brings a bunny. Bunny was screaming and crying. I have a video but it was gut wrenching. So I immediately separate the cat from the bunny and bring the cat inside and leave bunny outside. So I go ou... Did the word Christ exist before Jesus?3h agoI’ve been out of the church for about 10 years and came across discourses of Joseph smith at a thrift store and thought it would be an interesting read as I had never read anything directly teachings from Joseph smith. Found this quote: “In the former ages of the world, before the Savior came in the flesh, "the saints" were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to come, because there never was any other name whereby men could be saved; and after he came in the flesh and was crucified, then the saints were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, crucified, risen from the dead and ascended into heaven, that they might be buried in baptism like him, and be raised in glory like hi... Old Smosh comments from Ian and Anthony in 20063h agoAlso in my opinion I don't think Ian needed to start his own channel at the moment if Anthony already created the Smosh channel for himself and Ian, this was before second channels were a thing. One of Cortney's reposts.3h agoI think this repost of hers makes it pretty clear her account was hacked because this is the exact opposite of what her account did last night. And I would say other reposts point towards a vibe that wouldn't mesh with this pile of greasy dumplins. Is Capitalism Delivering For The Majority? - ft. Steve Kaplan3h ago\# How do we evaluate capitalism? 1. Life satisfaction based on GDP 2. Strong social safety net that doesn't erode incentives 3. Rule of law and anti-corruption 4. Low unemployment The question is, as always, what system performs best at these measures? People, especially on social media make the mistake of saying they want an ideal outcome in one of these four measures without taking into account how a system that would deliver an ideal outcome in one of these measures has/could perform in the other measures. \# Problems? What problems? 1. In the last 25 years, the lowest 50% of incomes have seen less than 10% percapita growth, whereas the upper 01% has seen between 100... Airbnb Vs Hotels for Honeymoon3h agoHi all! My fiancé and I have decided on Costa Rica for our honeymoon in March 2027. I have been studying this sub for hours and hours, and am a bit overwhelmed with all the information and differing opinions, so I’ve decided to post. Main thing we cannot decide between is airbnbs vs a hotel. We have found some absolutely STUNNING Airbnbs for such a good price too (14 nights), but unsure about logistics such as car rentals, supermarkets etc, and whether we want to be self-catering on our honeymoon or not. Hotels look amazing too, a lot more expensive, but of course the ease of food and drinks an a pool to chill by at the end of the day sounds amazing. We discussed having a ‘base’... In reality, we are not as free as we are made out to be. American’s are in constant surveillance under the NSA, consumerism is constantly being promoted to get us out there buying product, the government allows Monsanto to poison our food supply everyday, along with the blatant lies told via politician or via televised media. Americans do not realize that WE are indeed the New Slaves – as sai... Separation anxiety after moving3h agoHello friends, My dog is an 11-year-old mix of Brussels Griffon/Australian Shepard. It's a bit of a long story on all the things we've tried, so bear with me. Our dog is kennel trained, but he did well outside of it so, we would just leave it open and he could go in if he wanted to. We've never had any problems with him destroying things or going potty in the house. We moved overseas for a year and a half for a work assignment of my husbands. We had to ship our dog. He did fine while we lived abroad, but I also stayed home/worked from home at the time. When we moved back to the states, you could tell he knew he was about to fly again and did not like it. Poor guy. :... I built a wine app for people who don't know wine3h agoFor the last few months, my co-founder and I built and just recently launched a new app called [SipList: Great Wine Every Time](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/siplist-great-wine-every-time/id6759101787). This is the problem we're solving: are you at a restaurant or store and not sure what wine to get? Use SipList to scan the wine list or bottle, and get instant recommendations and info tailored just for you. The inspiration came from people like myself and my friends, people who enjoy wine but truly don't know what to get, so we end up not getting anything at all. As you try new wines in the app, you like them (or dislike them), and they get saved and ranked on your SipList. The...
