My time as a miserable oreillys employee

1h ago

I will just jump right into it this is going to be sloppy and all over the place so please bear with me. Im a male diagnosed with severe ptsd, depression, anxiety and a few other things. I worked as a part time driver for 2.5 years. The store i was at was the laughing stock of the district, no other stores or even that stores own employees respected that store because of the manager (one of my co-workers even told me i was too nice of a person to be working in that store and i should leave that store and boy do i regret not listening to him) the manager is a disgusting human being, he was always trying to touch, grope, assault and belittle his employees. While there i witnessed him physically...

Switching from S25U to Vivo X300 Pro

1h ago

Hi everyone, I live in Suriname (South America) and I order online quite often, but I’ve never bought a phone online before. Everything I purchase is usually shipped to a warehouse in Miami and then forwarded to Suriname. I’m planning to buy the **Vivo X300 Pro**, but since Vivo phones aren’t sold locally here, I’m looking for advice on **trusted and legit websites** where I can safely order one. I recently bought a Vivo **X200 Pro very cheaply (about €250)** from Marketplace in the Netherlands. A friend bought it for me and brought it to Suriname. The screen is damaged and still needs to be replaced, but the moment I started using it, I knew the latest model would be a must-hav...

My LLC is cat themed.. so created a little Cat Travel app: Pawsport!

1h ago

Just shipped **Pawsport** to the App Store - a mobile app that gamifies documenting cats you encounter while traveling. Think Pokémon GO but for cat photography / Pin Traveler **What it does:** * Take geotagged photos of cats you find * Build a visual passport collection * Track achievements and unlock badges * See your stamps on an interactive map * Compete with streaks This gave me a chance to learn React Native, Expo, Supabase, and Mapbox over the past couple months. It's been a fun side project combining my love of travel and cats. Available for iPhone and iPad: [https://apps.apple.com/us/app/travel-pawsport/id6754227856](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/travel-pawsport/id67542278...

Christmas is ******* the life out of me like a vampire on steroids

1h ago

I am DROWNING and my mind is racing a mile a minute. I have two calendars and lists littering my desk. Why is Christmas such a massive labor for a working mother?! I bought all the presents early because I knew I would be super busy this month. I spent the last 4 days wrapping everything late at night when the kids are in bed. St Nick came this weekend, so I had that all bought, sorted and set out to do late at night on Friday night. As you can tell, I'm not getting much sleep. And the Elf! I just keep throwing him somewhere different. Christmas cards were prepped, labels printed, and envelopes addressed prior to Thanksgiving and went in the mail December 1. My in-laws can never fig...

"Do not be sad that he is gone; be grateful that he was." Stanislaw Lem

1h ago

Maxwell, you chose us. From the first time your eyes met ours, it was like you had already made up your mind. After everything you had been through, you still had so much love to give. Your life didn’t start easy. You were hurt badly as a kitten, left with a broken eye socket and scapula, but you survived long enough to make it to a shelter. They helped heal your body, but it was your own quiet strength that carried you through. Out of all that pain came the smartest, kindest cat we’ve ever known. You took your role in our lives seriously. You were our little guardian, making sure everyone was safe and accounted for at bedtime, moving from room to room until we were all tucked in. A...

I'm so tired

1h ago

I can't sleep. Physically- I sweat all night until I freeze, my hips ache, I feel dizzy in the bed, my heart races and I have to breathe deliberately or I think I stop. I know it's probably anxiety. Which makes me more anxious. I am in the final stage of perimenopause. I'm kinda young for it. 44. I'm also diagnosed with pulmonary conditions (and an exciting heart concern) so I'm sure those play a part in my bedtime issues. I am unemployed. It's worse than that. I am employable. I moved my family states away from everything we knew in September, got into an expensive lease and now there is only one income. It belongs to my boyfriend. Meanwhile, I am not earn...

No real $$ and very little food - need meal ideas

1h ago

I actually have about $60 to spend for groceries this week and we are down to the bare cupboards in the house. I know $60 sounds like a lot for food but we have 7 people in the house we have to feed and it’s been snowing so the kids have no school today and probably tomorrow as well. My husband is allergic to chicken so that isn’t an option for us (our son is allergic to shellfish, not that we are eating shrimp. But a lot of premade sauces contain shellfish, especially in Asian type sauces). Last week we went through a lot of the convenient foods like hot dogs, Mac and cheese, ramen, etc. I’d like to find a few dishes or ideas that won’t break the bank but add a little more nutrition...

Won a chargeback and suddenly 6 weeks later the merchant is disputing said chargeback dispute.

1h ago

So months ago I submitted a chargeback request on an item from a retail store. It was about $400.00. They refused to refund me on my original payment and wanted to give me a gift card because I was past the return date (I was not I shipped within the time frame which was 30 days 🙄). After a month I provided more details and essentially the next day after I got my money back and won from what I assumed. So weeks later they responded back and gave a detail explanation as to why they did what they did. Anyways - I have till the 16th of this month to respond. I don’t speak English very well but can someone clarify this? It’s from my bank. “ a is very important that your valid support...

What it’s really like being a member of Herenboerderij Ulingshof (community-supported regenerative farming)

1h ago

Over the past months I’ve become a member of *Herenboerderij Ulingshof*, a cooperative, community-supported farm in the Netherlands — and honestly, it has changed the way I think about food production, land use, and community. For those outside NL: Herenboerderijen are member-owned regenerative farms. Families buy a share, the farm hires professional farmers, and the land is managed with nature-positive methods (polyculture, soil regeneration, mixed livestock, minimal external inputs). In return, members receive a weekly share of veggies, fruit, eggs, and meat — all produced locally and sustainably. A few things that surprised me: 🌱 **It feels radically different from a typical C...

How do I reduce my grocery bill while still eating healthy?

1h ago

I have a family of 3, we spend $1300 on groceries alone after cutting down on a lot of spending, it used to be $1800. I see people somehow getting away with $800 as a family of 3 and I just don't understand how to do it, I cant figure out what they could possibly doing while still eating healthily. Our food is like 65% fruit/veggies, 25% meat, and 10% misc (snacks, side dishes like rice and potatos, etc). The reason for wanting to cut down is because we are buying our first house and need to throw more money into savings for down payment, closing cost, etc.. We've had no issue spending the $1800+- on groceries while renting but now that we are going to buy a 650k+ home we have ...

Downtown Stillwater feels impact of small business crunch amid high costs, slow sales

1h ago

Elizabeth Sampley is calling it quits. Sampley is the owner of art hub Little Sapling Market in downtown Stillwater. The shop has had two storefronts since opening in 2022. Its goal is to provide art and art supplies to creatives in Stillwater. Sampley said her store has seen fewer customers coming in since the new year. “Groceries are more expensive, gas is more expensive. And so it's just like, it's exhausting. And we would rather put our time and effort into something more sustainable in the long run,” she said. In a national survey conducted by Main Street America, 45% of the nearly 1,300 small businesses that responded experienced a drop in net profit this fall. Reason...

A month and a half together

1h ago

Pray for us. Long story, short, we needed somebody to house/pet sit over Christmas and then accompany us on our half-cross-country move the first week of January with our 6 month old, two cats, and large dog. To avoid multiple international flights and to observe if MIL can even take care of a 6 month old baby, we invited her to stay starting last week. Well, it took less than 23 hours before she * Insulted my husband to my face--as if I'd think it was funny--which was quickly shut down. * Tried to [take back gifts](https://www.reddit.com/r/Mildlynomil/comments/1i781n3/comment/m8l6gm4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_c...

No growth opportunities

1h ago

I been with the company for going on ten years. I’ve witnessed time and time again my fellow store managers get passed up for opportunities. Before Rite Aid closed up I was really heart set on possibly moving up with the company someday despite watching my coworkers who been with the company 20 plus years all getting pass up on and leaving the company. Well then we buy Rite Aid out and just give these people opportunities that us store managers don’t even get. So I have up on any kind of promotions. The spark and enjoyment of my job is gone. It’s nothing but stress now and I know a ton of my fellow store managers feel the same way. We simply go in and work and do our job for the payche...
