MTHFR, Histamine, And A Little About My MCAS Journey

3h ago

I wanted to share this resource I came across while having a renewed desire to find the right supplements to try to live some semblance of a normal life. I came upon this helpful page which breaks down the relationship between MTHFR gene mutations and how it affects histamine levels (and other things). It is a site that sells products (that's not my goal) but still offers help in breaking this stuff down in less clinical language. I know it may be an oversimplification for a lot of people here, but I'm really sharing it for those who are just getting started on this confusing journey. I was about to post the link but realized it's against the sub rules, which is totally unders...

Discussion about giving workers the choice of how to distribute their working hours

3h ago

How practical and doable is it for retail stores, supermarkets, factory, airports, hotels, construction or agriculture workers or similar type of workers to be completely given the option and the choice, if they want to distribute their working hours in 4 or 5 day?

Pirates: Rogue’s Fortune, my childhood dream is coming true!

3h ago

We all have moments in life when we can feel that an event, a happy one in this case, is going to stay with us forever. For me, it was when I was 12, back in 1993, on a winter Saturday, when my parents gifted me my first computer, an Olivetti 486. I’ll never forget it. A real surprise, along with an incredible game, Monkey Island. Pirates had entered my life. Then came Monkey Island 2, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, and much later Black Flag and Sea of Thieves. I started tinkering, played around with Klik & Play from magazine cover disks, discovered Paintbrush (yes, it did the job back then), and I knew that one day I would make my own game too. A pirate game, maybe. I just had to be pat...

Seeking perspective on cat intro with one hesitant resident (NM -> 2 NF household)

3h ago

HI all! My partner and I are two weeks in to introducing my cat (NM, ~8 years old) to her two sister cats (NF, ~4 years old). We've been following the Jackson Galaxy method. My boy is mostly in his basecamp (spare room) with a towel under the door to prevent eye contact (tied to command hooks on the door), and are doing some site swapping. The one hiccup we have been running into is that one of the girls has had bouts of aggression towards the new cat. Most of the time she's chill, but sometimes she'll get really determined to pull the towel (or any other barrier we've tried so far) out from under the door. Once she gets enough of a glimpse of the new cat, she goes full R...

I Think There’s Something in My House and I’m Not Sure It’s Paranoia Anymore — Part 2

3h ago

I was frozen after what I had just seen. It was the house sitter, lying on top of the dining table. I could barely recognize him because of his uniform—everything else looked distorted and wrong. I didn’t understand why he hadn’t screamed or given any sign, even though I had been asleep. I wouldn’t have been able to hear him anyway. Slowly, I approached, trying to regain control of myself. Next to him, there was a note. It said: “Do you still think it’s paranoia?” My body went cold. At least now I knew something was real. I pressed myself against the wall, feeling it was the safest spot because I could only see forward, and nothing was behind me. That’s when I saw them:...

☀️ The r/Kurdistan Weekly Community Thread

**Silav Hevalno,** As our community continues to grow during these critical times for Kurdistan, the moderator team has been looking for ways to foster better communication, deeper discussion, and a stronger sense of unity across all parts of our homeland and diaspora. Starting today, we are launching a Weekly Open Discussion thread that will be pinned to the top of the subreddit every Friday. This will serve as a consistent space for the community to gather, distinct from the rapid-fire news cycle. **Week 1 Topic: The State of the Subreddit** For our inaugural discussion, we are turning the microphone over to you. We have seen a massive surge in activity over the last three months, and w...

Throwing out food constantly is killing my grocery budget

3h ago

I'm trying to be smart about groceries but I keep wasting food and watching money go straight in the trash. I meal plan, check what I have before shopping, all that stuff but things still go bad. Produce rots way faster than I expect. I buy ingredients for one recipe and the rest sits until it spoils. Every time I toss something it just feels like I'm burning cash but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My freezer is tiny so I can't just freeze everything and my schedule is too packed to meal prep on weekends. How do you actually use everything you buy without stuff going bad? I need to figure this out because my grocery budget can't handle all this waste.

Normally I wouldn’t really care but I’ve had a catheter in my brain since I was born so it’s hard to know which of my symptoms are hydrocephalus related. My neurosurgeon and I came to the decision to revise it which isn’t always 100% safe. It was a gray area for years because it still isn’t clear I need a revision. So the ******* ***** in the sky is mocking me like “Ehhhhh, just work harder on your health and go to the grocery store and meal prep” when I bust my *** all day. So I am deciding to do this surgery solely as a **** you to God.

Cheap taper candles??

3h ago

My current batch of candles are getting very short and I’m wondering if there’s anywhere in town that sells good candles cheap? I refuse to purchase from Amazon because I got a bad batch once and they were way too pricey. I notice grocery stores have some sparingly but that’s it. I’ll take any recs.

Babymoon Resort Suggestions?

3h ago

Hello! My husband and I️ are looking to go on a babymoon mid March and are looking for resort recommendations. Mexico would be ideal location wise for us, but open to anywhere that is safe to travel while pregnant. Let me know if you have any suggestions based on my criteria (or if it’s impossible to hit all of my criteria at the price point) 1. Adults-only 2. Relaxing/non-party scene 3. Great beach with snorkeling 4. Great food and lots of restaurant options…. My husband LOVES to eat 5. Ideally between $500-$800/night but willing to go up to $1,000 6. Possibility of swim out room options would be a huge plus! Thanks!

[General-US] Moving to new state without a job, want to get accepted for an apartment

3h ago

I’m moving to a state 14 hours away from my current state and I have been submitting my resume to different places for the last few days but haven’t heard back so I’m assuming I’ll just need to move out there and have an address in that state before I get any callbacks. (My resume is good for the jobs I’m applying.) I have a decent job in my current state and am wanting to use the paystubs from it to get approved for an apartment in the new state. I’m wondering how closely an apartment manager will look at the address for these stubs. I want to secure an apartment there before I move obviously. My other option is to offer to prepay the entire lease term upfront. Is that even so...
