And guess what? Zero cheesy tourist traps. 🙅♀️ Look, I'm usually the first one to roll my eyes at "budget travel" posts that turn out to be staying in hostels and eating instant noodles. My goal for Slovenia was simple: experience genuine local life, eat well, stay somewhere comfy, and not have my bank account cry. Turns out, it's completely doable. This isn't a "how to travel for free" guide, but rather how to travel *really well* without blowing your savings. **The Slovenia Vibe (No BS)** Forget the overhyped spots wher... Can't stand this country50m agoEverything’s gone to ****. Ever since my family moved back to India, my life’s been collapsing piece by piece. Can’t stand the people I deal with every day. The teachers are awful, four years here and I haven’t improved at all. The place isn’t built for productivity or happiness, awful music blasting every weekend, studying’s impossible, and any attempt at fun just ends in frustration. And tf is even the endgoal? A 20 LPA job funding a life I never wanted, in a place that drains every morsel of life out of you until all that’s left is an apathetic rinse-and-repeat while my life slips by in flashes of what it couldve or shouldve been... I blame my parents for this, my dad too ... I just discovered there's an official Severance desktop theme for Windows51m agoHello everyone! I was just browsing the Microsoft Store on my PC and I discovered that Apple released an official Severance theme for Windows last year: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9ndmr1cv4t52?hl=en-US&gl=US There are some desktop themes for other Apple TV shows as well. I didn't know these exists. Pretty cool I think. We’re both very laid-back, and are looking forward to taking in scenery, eating, checking out many pubs, catching some trad music, and getting to know some locals. We aren’t the type to hit the ground running on vacation, but enjoy a few scheduled activities here & there and then just meandering and relaxing. We live in a small city here in the states & walking from one end of the city to the other is not foreign to us, so lots of walking around is something we’re accustomed to :) I’m hoping this itinerary is pretty copacetic. Our accommodations have been booked, so we do... When I plan trips for families, I think in 3-hour cycles/ultraradian rhythms55m agoWhen I’m planning travel for families (our own family or other people’s), I think about the day in roughly 2- to 3-hour cycles. Kids (and adults!) tend to move through a predictable rhythm: \- Anticipation and energy \- Peak activity time (doing the main thing) \- Hunger \- Tiredness There is actually some biology behind this. Humans operate on something called ultradian rhythms. These are natural cycles of alertness and fatigue that repeat throughout the day, usually about 90 to 120 minutes long. Kids tend to move through these cycles more obviously than adults, but it’s the same for all of us. If the main activity happens during the energy and anticipation phase, it usually... Rushed wedding56m agoHi, Im looking for advice. We got engaged just over a year ago and were planning on saving for a couple years for our wedding so we could have what we would like etc, but not a very expensive wedding more a tipi, field and firepits eith taco and pizza bar etc, movie tent for the kids and dog friendly, so thats what I've been researching and planning for. However, we've just had really heattbreaking news. I lost my dad in 2023, and it breaks my heart he wont be at my wedding. My partners dad got the all clear last year for pancreatic cancer after it miraculously shrunk enough for surgery, and a long treatment journey, so we felt relaxed about the future and the wedding would come ... Do you remember how quite the world became during the lockdown? I captured it on camera56m agoSix years ago, the world paused. During the COVID-19 lockdown, streets that were once filled with traffic, noise, and people suddenly fell silent. Stores closed. Roads emptied. Entire cities stood still. While most of us stayed indoors, I went out with my camera—not to chase views, but to document what the world looked like during that moment. Empty streets. Closed establishments. A city holding its breath. Looking back now, these photos feel less like pictures and more like pieces of history. Someday people will ask: *What did the world really look like during lockdown?* This was it. Take a moment to watch. And if you remember those days, I’m curious—**where were you during the ... I've been trying to do the voice track for it and kept breaking down. Very much Non Fiction (unfortunately) **A Recipe for War** *"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly — it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over."* *— Joseph Goebbels* Let me lay out a recipe for you. \- Take one population that is struggling - financially, culturally and existentially. DAE just go through all the aisles at the grocery store because they never bring a list?57m agoAnd end up buying unnecessary stuff? Mini Grocery58m agoFound a 200–250 sqm spot near our house and now I’m seriously thinking of opening a neighborhood grocery. Am I crazy? I’ve always dreamed of having my own grocery store. I know margins on grocery items are small, but somehow the idea of running one—even being the cashier sometimes—has always been on my bucket list. Recently, I was just waiting for some kind of sign… and then one appeared. A commercial space near our house suddenly became available. It’s around 200–250 sqm with parking for about 5–6 vehicles in front. The location is pretty good for our area, and when I heard about it I got really excited and immediately took it as a sign to explore the idea seriously. ... Someone tried to Hack our platform, but we use Golang58m agoSomeone created a guest account on our platform and started doing things outside typical use case.. we noticed errors in our API logs and once checked found a guest account had been hitting our endpoints with SQL injection payloads. MySQL sleep(15), Oracle DBMS\_PIPE.RECEIVE\_MESSAGE, PostgreSQL PG\_SLEEP, XOR-based blind injection, double encoded quotes they tried it all :) Last month we had around 2.7 million requests and close to 200k unique visitors and managing that with a team of 4 is not a trivial job, however our backend is written in Go so they were not able to bypass that. Every single payload got stored as a useless entry in DB. Nothing was executed and nothing broke. The attac... can you help me find closure?58m agoi was in a mid long distance relationship (wed see each other once every 2 weeks or so). we had amazing chemistry and communciation and he seemed very sure about me from the get go. it felt like nothing ive ever had before. he showered me with time, appreciation, effort, even money and gifts from the first date and i never asked him to or expected this. sometimes id cry because i felt so intimate with him. he called me his wife, and talked about our future. hed say 'i dont think, i know deep in my soul that itll be us from now on'. talked about love being a choice and he chooses me. id never felt more cared for. we had a lot in common in terms of music, art, movies, interests, we l... Dining and shopping. Where to and how much budget should one allocate? Any tips?59m agoWe're planning on a 10 day trip to Seoul next week. For most part it will be filled by eating and shopping. We like to have maybe 1 to 2 good resto food per day and mostly street foods since everything looks amazing really. Any food reco, where and how much will it be? Where to shop also? Looking for mostly streetwear. Wide leg pants and jackets. Maybe for kids as well like 1yo baby. Sneaker stores? Is it cheaper there? Thanks!! Amsterdam Proxy Buyer to USA1h agoLooking for an in-person shopper to buy something from a local store in Amsterdam and ship to me in the US. Let me know if you can help. Thanks! i need help with my relationship 20f and 21m1h agoI (20f) have been with this guy (21m) for 3 years now. Our relationship has been very rocky throughout these years, it started off very toxic we both didn’t know what we wanted. At the start of our relationship, I believe he liked me a lot more than I did at the time. I don’t want to only criticize him in this, I was also very toxic and would argue about everything with him. We are both super stubborn and would miscommunicate so much. We both felt the need to be right all the time and it just drove a wedge between us. During this time he ended up smoking with this girl he was friends with and flirted with her, and she ended up showing me the texts. I was very against weed and that was... What sort of food should I feed my new(ish) Roomba?1h agoOzzy's dad here. He's approaching 7 months! And I've been told that I should start transitioning this neverending black hole off of puppy food! That being said, what brands of kibble do you feed your ACD's? I would ideally like to feed Ozzy some sort of Raw Mix in but there are so many brands and warnings?? Currently Ozzy gets the following as approved by his vet; - Purina Pro Plus Puppy - Greek yogurt (plain ofc) - Carrots - Pumpkin Puree (bro ALWAYS has runny stool without it, which I am concerned might be the Purina, as he doesn't tend to have it if Greek yogurt is spread on his lick mat.) - Fish skin after food! I received a bag of Northwest Naturals (Frozen... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
