Last TANF payment2h agoBack in 2024, my husband was laid off from work and my income wasn't enough to keep us afloat so we applied for TANF (we were already using food stamps). We were on it for a year (up until he was finally hired at his current job) and our TANF payments were being loaded onto the cash side of the EBT card. After my husband was hired at the end of July '25, we were no longer eligible for TANF but were eligible for six months post-TANF and our last payment is scheduled for the beginning of February. Long story short, I did the recertification for food stamps last month, didn't get an update until 1/22 and I guess because one of our daughters turned 18 recently, that cut down a d... Half-Life: Alyx's Soundtrack is coming to vinyl and CD!2h agoAnnounced today, January 28th 2026. And now she sleeps - Final update2h ago4th and final post about my dog. Post 1 was about a month and a half ago about the lack of sleep I was getting because she needed to go out so much, and the back pain I was getting from lifting her in the shower. Post 2 was about 2 weeks ago about me getting frustrated with her. Post 3 was a week ago looking for "final" meal ideas for her. Due to several of the posters in post 1 mentioning to get her checked for a UTI, I did so. She had one. She got meds, it healed. Because she was defecating in her sleep she had essentially been defecating on herself and laying in it for a bit causing the UTI. As the first one healed up, she developed another. On 1/16 I called the vet t... Amazon fresh closing2h agoIf you need to go to the grocery store to grab something really quick, do not go to Amazon fresh on Aurora. I went there earlier like I do most mornings before I go to work which is a min away from there. I needed an energy drink, some soup and avocados. As soon as I stepped in there it was packed with people. And yes I do know it’s closing down, but I didn’t realize they were going to do a sale this early on. Avocados were $39 cent btw. Sad I didn’t get to purchase them. All I wanted was a couple things, but when I went to the shelf check out line. The line was pass the bread section and all the way to the deli counter. The other check outs were full too. Most people had carts full al... It's an "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly" kind of day2h agoHaving a real hard one today, folks. I sucessfully deep cleaned half the house yesterday, and then tried moving on to a personal project only to realize files I needed to start are on an old drive (ssd from old computer that crapped out, so it's a lot of tech troubleshooting and external hookups I need to do etc etc). That sudden roadblock just sapped me. Then today I am just spiraling with the state of, well...\*gestures to everything going on around us\*. "Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly." I can't remember where I first saw this, and I ***** it originally. It felt so oddly negative. But thinking about it from the perspective of struggling with depression, ... Still grieving2h agoIt’s been like 5 years since my cat Fate died. I don’t even really remember him anymore. But I remember his last moments with us. I remember going to my dads early in the morning before school to see him because we weren’t sure if he’d make it through the week. I remember taking a million pictures of him as if I was afraid I’d forget what he looked like. I remember holding his tiny skinny body in my arms and crying into his white fur. I remember desperately trying to get him to eat some wet food only for him to just lick the juices. I remember going to school that morning and telling my teacher we were going to have to put him down we just weren’t sure when. I remember half... My family is sending me off a cliff2h agoTL:DR: Family is fully paying for a wedding. I originally wanted to elope & care about costs. I changed my mind and now my own voice is being drowned out of my own wedding planning. Has anyone else navigated this kind of a situation? Surely someone \------------ I love my family, great relationship with everyone, both my family and my inlaws. Genuinely adore all my family. My parents are paying for the wedding entirely, and despite them saying I have full control (I was even allowed to elope and use the money for that, which until he proposed, was the plan). However, since I decided "yes. I actually do want a wedding with all our loved ones" it's getting complicated... A Potential Tailwind for Crypto and the US Dollar Outlook2h agoThe US Dollar Index (DXY) is showing signs of structural weakness after slipping below a key long-term trendline on the monthly chart. This move represents a breakdown from a price channel that has held for nearly 15 years, raising questions about a broader shift in dollar strength. Historically, sustained dollar weakness has been supportive for risk assets. Bitcoin and the broader altcoin market have often benefited as capital rotates away from the dollar and into alternative stores of value. That said, context matters. If the dollar is depreciating, it’s important to ask what’s driving the move. Is it purely technical, or are macro factors at play? Currency strength in Europe, shifti... I’m 15f I walked through snow by myself to get food for the house and my mom still made me feel worthless what do I do...2h agoHi I’m 15f basically I walked to the store by myself in the snow to get food for the house because we didn’t have anything and I’m not in school because of the snow storm but anyway. I didn’t have a lot of money, so I just got what I could afford bread, milk, eggs, just something so we could eat. It wasn’t much, but in my head I really thought it was enough. I actually felt good about myself for once, like maybe I did something right and she would be satisfied. But instead she got mad because I forgot the ice. I honestly forgot. It was freezing and I was alone, and all I could think about was getting back home as fast as I could. None of that mattered though. It felt like everythin... I built a Mint alternative that actually works on WhatsApp2h agoHey, I used Mint for years, and I always struggled with tracking shared expenses with a partner or friends. Moneko started as a small side project because I was frustrated with how difficult that was. Receipts everywhere, half-remembered expenses, notes spread across chats and apps. What it’s become is largely thanks to early users who tested the beta, reported bugs, and were honest about what felt confusing or unnecessary. As of this week: * Nearly 2,000 beta users * 250+ members in our Discord community * The app was submitted for [app store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moneko.mobile) review last week A lot of features exist only because users asked for them. An... In-store shopping experience on a budget question2h agoHello everyone! I have never purchased luxury jewelry before. My husband and I earn a middle class income, but have made great financial decisions which means this Valentine’s Day, he can get me something nice. I really love the d’armour pendant and I’m debating between the mini and small model. This is a large purchase for us while I know it may seem small to others. In a way I feel like it may be rude or a waste of the sales associates time for me to come in to try on a purchase that would be $1500 max. Can someone let me know if that would be a waste of time. I don’t want to bother employees that could have made a much larger sale. However, I do think part of the fun of it wou... Pay raise structure at your store.2h agoSo, in another post, I’m seeing a bunch of people talk about 25 and 50 cent raises associated with receiving the bonus or not getting “perfect” reviews. As far as I’m aware the current raise structure is zero, .75, or “WOW” $1. you can’t get back to back $500 bonuses and as far as back to back $1 I’m unsure. I’ve heard of someone getting back to back $1, but that may have been crew to crew misinformation. I asked a mate about this fairly recently, and they said that that doesn’t happen, but maybe even they weren’t aware of this or were bullshitting me. So, tell us your stores policy on raises and bonuses. Reading this just makes my stomach turn2h agoThere's always assholes like these who always find a way to repeat history "Record of Ragnarok Round Nine! Helen of Troy vs Aphrodite!" (What are your thoughts? Looking for feedback)2h agoLink: [Helen of Troy vs Aphrodite - Chapter 2 - SaiakuMonoNarrator - Record of Ragnarok (Anime) \[Archive of Our Own\]](https://archiveofourown.org/works/77463036/chapters/204248046#workskin) “These men are so brilliant.” One would not think to hear those words after a life and death battle between Nikola Tesla and Beelzebub. But those were words that came from Aphrodite’s mouth. She slapped herself before the statues that held her chest up were broken to pieces while her bosom shrank to a more manageable size. The Goddess stood up and stretched before her body shined and shimmered. “Aaa…” “My my, don’t think I’ve ever seen you actually st... I localized my dead app and 2 months later it's getting 5 downloads per day2h agoI built Worldly about a year ago. It's a travel tracking app where you mark the countries you've visited and see stats about your travel history. Simple idea, nothing groundbreaking. For months it just sat there. A few downloads here and there, almost all from the US. I'd check App Store Connect every day and see the same number of downloads. Revenue was pretty much nothing, and I barely got enough downloads to even call it a live app lol. I knew localization was supposedly important. Everyone says "App Store supports 40 languages, you're leaving downloads on the table." I tried once but copy-pasting metadata into 40 locales, trying to figure out what keywords... Middle Eastern Grocery Store2h agoHi! I’m on a mission to cook a different cuisines for a week this year. This week, I’m cooking some food from Middle Eastern/ Northern Africa region. Are there any good grocery store from that region around the Katy area that are not too overly expensive? I’m going to make everything from scratch so I’d rather not spend a lot of money. I’m specifically looking for some good ground lamb meat, branzino or red snapper, spices, and bulgur? Anything would help!
