Hello everyone I'm looking for advice on buying this 1986 ford f250. It has the 6.9 idi diesels engine automatic. It needs cosmetic work, a new speedometer and fuel gauge as well as radiator. The radiator it currently has has been temporarily fixed. The seller doesn't really have a clue on how many miles it has on it as these older models only have 5 digits for the odometer. Bought this truck off the side of the road last night for $1,500 I figured it couldn’t be that bad. Previous owner said it needed a timing chain replacement. I don’t know much about mechanics but the truck looked in good shape to me. Took it to O’Reilly today and holy shiiii. The guy at the counter suggested a tune up, didn’t say nothing about timing chain. He said I should change plugs and coils. What does everyone else think ?do you think I could fix this all by myself ? If I need to take it to a shop, does anyone know anyone good and reliable in STL, MO ?
