I often see rare birds and needs lists on eBird in my area, but some are closer than others. Sometimes I go after these sightings and get to add the bird to my list, but often I travel a good distance only to find the bird has gone. How do you decide what is worth the trip in these days of high gas prices, and what you will pass on? I often watch to see when the last sighting was, and if the bird was seen "today" I think there is a better chance it may still be there, but if the last report was yesterday possibly not. What criteria do you use? Distance? How long ago the last report was? Or do you just decide by what bird it is and how badly you want it?

Is it worth buying a $3000 2002 Volkswagen Jetta VR6 with 98k miles on it for my first car despite it needing premium fuel? Im aware that the timing chains will need to be replaced. Im just very torn on this decision because it is such a beautiful car and we looked at it and test drove it and it seemed like nothing was wrong. It doesn’t smell bad, it’s cheap, it’s never been in any crazy accidents, and it’s had 4 owners and they all had the car for atleast 7-8 years each. I have a part time job thats close to home and school is close by so I wouldn’t be doing crazy mileage on it. Is it worth the fuel economy and premium gas expense? This would be my first car.

Today I drove through Soddy Daisy on the way to Soddy Lake to fish. The tire pressure light lit up and I pulled over to check the tires. One of them was low. I then drove to a circle k and paid $3 for air to pump up my tire, but the machine wouldn’t let me select the pressure I wanted, so it wouldn’t inflate to the PSI I needed. So I drove back into Soddy Daisy proper and stopped at the gas n go, where I paid $1.50 for air. The machine worked. So I paid $4.50 in total to top off one low tire with air. I bought a 2018 Tacoma trd off road which I really like. A couple of things that were surprising was that is seems like there is a void in the gas pedal where it doesn’t do anything unless you push it down quite a bit. There isn’t a nice smooth acceleration, so having to push the pedal way down to get it moving I’m guessing is having an impact on the mpg. What would be the best way to fix this? I’ve heard the pedal commander works great so I am considering that but I would also like to improve my fuel economy if possible. If it’s possible to do both, what is the best way to improve both of these issues?
