I accidentally convinced my coworkers I’m secretly rich and now it’s out of control

5m ago

I am not rich. I need to say that first. I own exactly one towel with good vibes and the rest feel like they were woven during the Great Depression. My car makes a noise that mechanics describe as “between prayer and lawsuit.” I meal-prep ramen like it’s a lifestyle brand. But somehow my entire office believes I have hidden generational wealth. It started because I brought my lunch in a glass container instead of Tupperware. My coworker Marcus looked at it and said, “Glass? Must be nice, Rockefeller.” Everyone laughed. I laughed. A seed was planted. Then I made it worse. I took one day off for a dentist appointment and came back to someone asking, “Did you go to your beach h...

New to this

I just bought an ecoflow delta 2 and was wondering if any of you guys have some cool tips or tricks or just overall good things to know about the device. It will stay plugged into the wall for continuous charging. I also am leaving my at&t router and modem combo plugged into it just to make sure i never lose wifi. A little bit of background from me and my area is we get frequent power outages that last 1-4 hours typically. I have never owned any portable power stations before but went with ecoflow because of the reputation they built and their app looks better than jackery and bluetti. I have a gas generator that i plan to combo with this delta 2. I was originally going to get a delt...

I built a more realistic EV savings calculator (including the "hidden" costs like tires and winter range)

21m ago

I’ve been obsessed with the math behind switching to an EV lately, but I noticed a recurring issue with most of the savings calculators online. They’re usually way too simplified—most just compare gas prices to electricity prices and stop there. It felt a little misleading because it ignores the stuff that actually hits your wallet after you leave the lot. So, I spent some time building a more complete version: evsavings.app I tried to factor in the variables that people usually forget until they’re a year into ownership: • State Registration Fees: Some states charge $200+ extra just because it’s an EV. • Tire Wear: Since EVs are heavier and have more torque, you’re gener...

Gas was the future. VLCC spot rates say otherwise.

23m ago

[Crude oil remains a system commodity, moved at scale, regardless of how often it is declared obsolete.](https://preview.redd.it/z83a9c6a07hg1.jpg?width=690&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6052e287049cbf26713063ab1be6867f96a3e161) When I started sailing, the advice was clear and repeated everywhere: Gas is the future. Oil is crowded, mature, something you eventually move on from. Fast forward 25 years. VLCC spot earnings crossed USD 100,000/day in late 2025. Global oil demand is near 105 million bpd entering 2026. Owners who exited crude are quietly re-entering through ethylene and specialised segments. I’ve written a long-form piece on why oil never actually exi...

My problems are so stupidly childish and I’m so immature

27m ago

Yeah title sums it up. I’m insecure about the stupidest stuff and all my problems are temporary and even if I achieve all my dreams in life the few things I want are always going to be out of reach for me so whats rhe point even. Deadass my biggest insecurity is how young I look and my height. Like be so ******* fr some people are struggling with actual problems like homelessness, disability, an abusive family, etc. and here my entitled *** is wanting to kill myself because I….look young? Like cmon that’s just so ******* ******. Plus like objectively it’s a fact that if I get older I’m not going to look young forever like this is so obviously a temporary problem, it’s physically...

Villager's not restocking after curing them

28m ago

I built this iron farm/trading hall on my realm (bedrock). The iron farm was working fine and the villagers were restocking like normal. I then let a zombie zombify all of them and i cured them for the discounted prices. After that, most of them no longer restock and the iron farm no longer works. I think when they were zombified, they disconnected from their work stations and when they were cured they reconnected to different work stations. Since they do not have access to the correct workstation, they cannot restock. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if there is an easy way to fix this and/or prevent it from happening in the future.

CEL P11ED-00 code

28m ago

2018 Tacoma has had a couple episodes of up and down idling and an odd screeching sound under the hood at one point. It shakes a little at lower rpm. Other than that no loss of power or anything. CEL came on and code reader had the P11ED code. Mechanic said it calls for a new fuel injector for cylinder #2. He said possibly bad batch of fuel and to run through current tank of gas and then run premium with an injector cleaner. I’ve read a lot things saying this code could definitely mean something catastrophic. Any suggestions?

Samsung USA Shipped Defective 4TB 870 EVO SSD (Actually 500GB) – Warranty Denied

33m ago

Hello, r/buildapc, wanted to see if anyone here has experienced something similar with Samsung’s USA online store and/or had advice on how to resolve this issue. Bought a brand-new 4TB 870 EVO SSD straight from [Samsung.com](http://samsung.com/) in June 2025. Physical label + original box both showed the correct 4TB serial (which Samsung themselves confirmed belongs to a 4TB 870 EVO in their database). But every test (Linux/Windows/macOS, SATA + USB adapters, BIOS, diskpart, terminal, Samsung Magician) showed only 500GB capacity. Magician even pulled a completely different serial for a 500GB drive. Clear factory mismatch — 500GB internals in a 4TB shell. Submitted full RMA with invo...

What do I have? Diagnosis?

34m ago

I’ve never been to therapy, I’ve only ever talked to my fiancée of 6 years about this. My anxiety is not old, this has really only started since about 2 years ago. But really got bad once I got my new job working at a bank. I love my job I really do, but it might be the most stress inducing job I’ve ever had. I’m 24 years old. So I don’t know the root cause of this anxiety but I’m going to go into depth by example of some things I’ve been saving in my head mentally for this exact Reddit post. Ex 1. (What I think REALLY “started” my anxiety) I used to work at AT&T about 2 years ago, my friend would smoke weed all the time on his break or just hit his dab pen out...

Looking for advice m12 fuel vs m18 fuel

35m ago

To keep it brief. I’m new to Milwaukee. Did some research and decided to go with M18 fuel combo set with the Sawzall as my free tool. After further research I realized m12 is quite reliable, half the price and more compact. I’m now debating what’s better. I am not a contractor nor construction. But my mindset is always why not go big or go home. Mainly would be for work around the house, occasional automotive work, maybe some woodwork here and there. Thoughts?

the tank opening isn’t deep enough for the nozzle?

43m ago

i bought this bike over the weekend and have been loving it, but i filled up on my way home from work for the first time and there’s not much space to put the fuel nozzle in there. it wasn’t deep enough to depress the mechanism that all pumps in CA have to dispense fuel, so i had to use my hand to push it up, but then i couldn’t see the fuel level and i got gas all over my bike when it overfilled. do all drzs have this, or is it just a CA thing? my Triumph that i had before this didn’t have an opening this tight and i never had a problem lifting the mechanism by hand. that was a 2022 and also a CA bike. i’m not sure exactly how to fill this bike without spilling other than guessing...

My friend made $50 extra a night selling ‘air oil’

48m ago

My friend who just barely graduated high school because he was distracted. Got a job at the local gas station earning about $10 an hour. This is going back 30 years ago so his scam was when a gullible looking customer would pull into the gas station he would Say hey I’ll check your oil which is pretty rare for that era and the people were quite impressed. He would say you’re about a court low. If you want I can fill it up for you right now and he would sell them a nine dollar quart of an empty bottle of oil and pretend to pour it in. He would then say yeah keep an eye on that have a good night and they would probably tip in an extra five dollars more for being a good guy..
