I simultaneously made the move away from CrossFit which I was doing 4-5 days a week, because my nervous system felt shot. So my thought was go on wegovy, stop the high intensity training and focus on weightlifting and walking/rucking (I get 10,000 - 15,000 steps a day) to help the mind/body calm down and the weight come off. Month one at 1.5mg I felt the food noise quiet down immediately and was hopeful! I lost 2 lbs in the first month and thought it was a slow cadence but I k... Upcoming trip - guidance needed3h agoGood morning, I have a trip planned for May 23rd - May 26th. We will be staying near the Fairmont Hotel very close to what looks like the Tenderloin. I had all these restaurants in mind but looks like I won't be too close to many of them. Arrive in the evening on 23rd. I am looking to find out best nearby places to check out around Fairmont Hotel in walking distance. All ideas are welcome for nearby places to see. I will of course take an Uber to see the noteworthy sites. I will be traveling with wife and 12 year old daughter. Definitely want to check out Counter Culture Museum. A day will be spent going to Oakland for Cambodian food. Pretty nervous being so close to the tenderloin... Can spare me marriage advice? I'm F (35)3h agoIf you're replying as a man or a woman, please let me know so I can know which gender that insight came from. I'm also not native English speaker so please bear with me. I (F35) left my home country and my loved ones to be with him (M34). My dad didn't like him but I went anyway. 7 years in the marriage, I had no issues with any of his female colleagues. They could chat or joke around on the phone, that didnt bother me. Except for this one colleague who messaged him something that made me feel uncomfortable on 2024. I asked him to please not get close to her. He promised he wouldnt. Fast forward to 2025, I felt lonely a lot and had to tell him that I was lonely. He woul... Please correct me if I'm wrong (or help me understand) but I feel like so many people take living in New Zealand fo...3h agoA little context: I'm 26 years old from Hungary and my dad has been living in Auckland since 2014 so I've heard a lot of personal experiences from him. I've also visited Auckland in December 2016 for 3 weeks, I've travelled around Auckland a bit, went to Rangitoto Island, went up North a little around a place called Goat Island if I remember correctly and I also spend two days in Wellington (it was extremely windy but I still loved it). I currently live in Budapest, Hungary (with the plan of permanently moving to another country next year, NZ being one of my potential choices) and I've been to Prague, Amsterdam, Milan (and a few cities around it) and several cities i... Elevated SDMA levels, limping, autoimmune disease?3h agoHi all, Not sure if this is allowed and apologies if this isn't in line with the spirit of the subreddit, I'm just really concerned and trying to prepare myself for the worst. Preface: We have taken our scoots to the vet, pending a urinalysis (gotta get kitty to pee in the fake litter today). So, our cat Artemis (Scoots is her nickname) is normally SUPER active. like, sprinting up and down stairs, always greets me at the door, wakes up with me for my 6am cycle class type active. Last week, my fiance and i noticed on tuesday/wednesday that she hadn't really been getting up or doing much other than lounging wherever we were and sleeping etc. We feed her primarily dry ... 4 weeks post op MD + Laminoforaminotomy3h ago[first post link](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sciatica/s/oEHA1g4h2F) in r/Sciatica. I like this community better so now I'll post updates here. Reading the updates from others, positive and negative, has been really helpful so I wanted to share where I'm at. My first couple weeks were great. I switched to otc pain meds day 6 with no issue. I hit 7+ miles walking in 0.5-1 chunks on day 8 after surgery. I even was able to return to my WFH software job where I alternate using my walking pad with my standing desk and laptop in bed. Seemed like things were going great! There was one catch. I noticed a few days after my surgery what felt like a scratch in my mouth on the back side of wher... The 5,000-Year-Old Babysitter3h ago# Mesopotamia, 3000 BCE - The First Time The grain storage facility smelled like dirt, sweat, and impending disaster. John had been watching them build it for three days now, and every day, the problem got worse. The ventilation was wrong. The moisture levels would be catastrophic. And they were stacking the containers in a way that would cause rot to spread through the entire supply within weeks. Three days of watching. Three days of his eye twitching. On the fourth day, he couldn’t take it anymore. He walked up to the storage area where the king’s advisors were directing workers. Importa... AITH..Am I a terrible person for wanting a break from caring for my abusive mom?3h agoI don’t even know where to start, so buckle up I guess. I (41F) had a… let’s call it “chaotic childhood.” Think less Hallmark movie and more true crime documentary that people watch and go “how did that kid survive?” My dad was abusive, my mom was abusive, they were abusive to each other—it was basically a whole toxic circus and I was front row. After they split, my mom became an alcoholic. Not the “falls asleep with a wine glass” type—the mean, violent, unpredictable kind. I was her main target. Some of my childhood highlights include: Being dragged across the floor by my mouth/jaw (0/10, do not recommend) Getting choked until I turned purple (grandma had to step in mo... Itinerary and tips from 9-day Costa Rica trip (April 2026)3h agoWe did a 9-day trip to Costa Rica in the second half of April 2026, with a group of 4 adults (two of us in our early 30s and my partner’s parents). We had a wonderful time, between nature, adventure and the lovely people we met and food we ate throughout! This forum was very helpful to plan things out, so I wanted to give back by sharing our itinerary and adding tips. I’ve also put a subjective rating out of 5 next to each hotel/experience to indicate how much I’d recommend it. * **Day 1:** Land in SJO. * Pick up car from Adobe Car Rental (5/5) - booked using the discount from [here](https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/costa-rica-rental-car-discount/). We booked a 4x4 car. The rent... 3 nights in Seoul - Where to eat?3h agoHey all, We’re gonna be in Seoul for 3 nights and honestly I’m overwhelmed with food options. Every time I look something up I get like 50 different “best” places, so I figured I’d just ask here. We really want to get a proper Korean BBQ experience, really good Korean fried chicken and just solid Korean food in general (jjigae, bibimbap, whatever you think is a must). Would really appreciate actual restaurant names, not just areas. And if there’s something specific we should order there, even better! We’re not picky about budget, just don’t want to waste our dinners on mid level tourist scams. Thanks! Why do I recommend traveling on a cruise ship for your next vacation?3h agoHello everyone! I have been working for a cruise line (which I do not want to mention but it is one of the largest ones) for 4 years now in the same department (which I also prefer not to say now but it is on the sales division) and I feel I am ready to tell you why I consider choosing cruising for your next vacation is a great idea. Over the past 4 years, I have worked on different itineraries around the world: Europe, North America, Caribbean, Asia and Australia. Most of the cruises offered by the most popular cruise lines are always around the 7-day cruise (it can be more days or less depending on what you want and where you want to go). Obviously cruising has its disadvantages but ... DP: SAPPE NYC gift card triggers dining credit3h agoCredit posted the same day the transaction settled. Interestingly the charge is classified as "Online, mail or phone", not "in person". I *guess* in theory Chase would have the information to decline the credit on GC purchase? But so far it seems to continue to work. Code's open. Same codebase doubles as a live translator (speak in language A, hear it back in language B). Phone for the hard case (Android arm64), desktop as a sanity check. Multilingual was a hard requirement. Totally Joshculous Episode 263h agoWithout any more time to delay, the final three begin their extreme semi-final challenge. Shawn takes an early lead, after all there's very little he won't do. The survivalist racks up a stack of freebies in the form of empty soda pops as he passes dare after dare. For Leonard's dare, he must drink from the vat of boiled chicken leg and eye of newt. Amy's dare is to give a bear a manicure. Axel's dare is to cover yourself in fresh cow manure as a lesson in camouflage. It seems like there's no stopping the zombie nut as he accepts dare after dare. Bowie appears nervous. \---> Shawn: This challenge is totally my speed, man, I never say uncle! Still, I knew... Mother's day takeout ?3h agoIt's my first mother's day! But I have to work during the morning/day, and crowded restaurants stress me out (I worked in food service too long, maybe). So I was thinking a nice takeout I could bring home, or a premade meal I can heat and eat. It's just the two of us, me and my spouse, the baby isn't on solids yet. Any recommendations? Any fast food/retail actually hiring right now?4h agoI **** my current job. The work is fine, I just bit off more than I could chew accepting a graveyard position and want to find another place to work while I focus on starting school. Anything is on the table tbh Best independent casino sites in the USA? What works for different players?4h agoHey guys, I'm trying to figure out which are the **best independent casino sites** available to US players right now. Some people care most about slots, some care about crypto payouts, some want live dealer games, some want a simple mobile cashier, and some just want a site that does not become annoying after the first withdrawal. For US players, the first split is legal context. Real-money online casino availability is still state-specific, with regulated online casino options limited to certain states. So I would separate locally regulated casino apps from offshore or independent sites people talk about online. That difference matters before anyone starts comparing games or bon... Lima last minute4h agoHi, we are travelling to Lima next week, and have a night we wanted to enjoy in nice restaurant. I have read a lot of reviews and was only able to get waitlisted at Maido. I booked a back up, but I was thinking there are some fine dining options that aren’t as well known? Obviously last minute..my wife would love to try Nikkei style food fyi..appreciate all recos. My sister and I’s relationship may be broken and I’m not sure how to fix it, I’d appreciate any help4h agoI (22 F) and my sister (16 F) had a conversation 5 months ago, and we have not spoken since. To try to keep this as short as possible, our relationship was very close and tight knit before this conversation, we had a rocky childhood relationship with one another as young children, I was very closed off and cold to her as a young child which quickly changed into a close relationship as we had gotten older. My sister, who I’ll call Anne, was having extreme issues with our parents, these included verbal arguments which my sister led from what I understood. I was away at university while these incidents occurred and could only help minimally. The last fight revolved around Anne, becoming extre... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
