How to cope with the grief of Palestinian friends/associates who have been murdered by the Zionist Occupational Forces?

14m ago

So, I'm a white American who is anti-colonialism/anti-capitalist in his political views. A while back, I made some connections to people in Palestine, in order to hear more from their perspective to supplement my efforts to educate myself about the ongoing genocide, as well as how to avoid falling for military industrial complex propaganda. I recently discovered that a woman who lived in Beit Hanina that gave me really good tips about how to make Manakisha through a Facebook group, a photojournalist whose diligence with his reporting reminded me of my own dad's back when he was a newspaper editor/writer, and a woman in Gaza who shared her story of her father's kidnapping at t...

Previous Firing Advice

18m ago

Hello r/careeradvice Long story short, years ago I worked at a “retail chain A”and used a customers unwanted store credit to purchase an item for myself. Got caught later on, signed some paperwork, paid the $12 dollars back and was promptly walked out of the building. As I am approaching graduating from college and applying for jobs, I am not sure how to go about listing that time with “retail chain A” on my resume. I’ve had my current retail job at “retail chain B” for about 4 years and I’m not sure if I should just leave out my time at “retail chain A” all together or if it would show up in a background check regardless. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How long you need to work to buy an iPhone 17 Pro?

19m ago

Hi fellow Malaysians, assuming you earn a RM5000 wage (take home), it'll take you 190 hours of work to buy an iPhone 17 Pro. After reading Your Money or Your Life, something clicked for me. For most of us earning a wage, money isn't just some numbers, it's our life energy. Every dollar we spend represents hours of our time, our effort, our life traded away. I'm not posting this to raise anxiety regarding spending habits. I understand everyone values things differently, something that is worth 190 hours of work for you, may not be worth for me, and vice-versa. Everyone has their own value system, and should spend according to it. I needed a way to better visualize, and ...

[REQUEST][STEAM] Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons DLC {Attempt #6}

24m ago

Well, I can't help myself it seems hahaha. Here is attempt #6, the spring sale is over so the price is back up to $30 so anyone who gifts now i just wanna say you're awesome. I was also thinking of rewriting my post, i'm going to use the same one i've used for the last 4 attempts, but let me know if it's too wordy, because i kinda feel like it's too much. Anywhere here we go: Lets start with the truth, I don't have a special connection to Guild Wars 2 other than reading the back of the box after it caught my eye on the shelf in my best friends room back in the early 2010's, that's it, that was my sole interaction with GW2 up until recently. I hav...

Online Poker a teen

25m ago

I am freshly 18 and have been in love with poker since I was 14. Smoking my friends almost ever single weekend. So when I turned 18 I got Club WPT gold to try my luck. Well it went alright with poker but then I found the mini games. I play the ocean game poker master and got crazy lucky turning 20 dollar into 250. I then ran that in while in chem class to 750 dollars. This is not a small amount for me. I proceeded to go up and down for 3 hours after school. I had many chances to stop at 800 dollars but I never could. Long story short I lost every single nickel. I just want to know how I can get off the path of developing a gambling addiction but still having the ability to enjoy some family ...

How to store antique and vintage dolls and clothing?

31m ago

I am downsizing and need to put some items in storage and I’m just not sure the best way to do this when it comes to my dolls and clothing. I don’t think any of it is particularly valuable except to my family, but much of it comes from my children’s grandmother from the 1940s and I think their children might like to have it (Plus, dolls and doll clothes aren’t too big!) I have 3-4 porcelain and madame Alexander dolls, and probably 15 hand-sewn 1940s dresses and petticoats and such. I don’t think it’s wise to seal them in a Rubbermaid bin. I know for my own “keepsake” clothes like my wedding dress etc., I have them wrapped in layers of paper and placed in a breathable, s...

Ex girlfriend not responding

33m ago

Hey everyone! i hope all is well. this might be long, but please i need advice or something. so, i met this girl in 2022. so, i came back to work after having covid, and she was already there. she was quiet, not talkative or approachable. but i gathered the courage to speak to her. slowly, but surely we became friends. time passed, we eventually hung out together outside of work. we had a blast. we got closer at work, everyone “hated” us because we were basically partners in crime. it got to the point where i caught feelings for her. and the thing is. she’s always been straight. she would tell me about her hookups or one night stands with guys. of course, it made me feel a certain wa...

I feel like the worst person on earth

34m ago

I lied to my parents. I haven't been able to make any of my college payments in the past three months, even though I told them I did, that I was taking care of it. I can't save money to save my life. I've lost all motivation. I've barely done any of my work this semester. I had to withdraw from two classes because I bombed my midterms so badly. They don't know about it, any of it. I'm probably on academic probation and who knows what else, I'm not sure. I haven't worked up the courage to check my school email since winter break. I'm scared it'll tell me what I already know, that I've failed miserably in my first year of college, that I n...

Update: Tried to set boundaries, now they want to be paid 25k

42m ago

It's been a few months since my \[last post here\] (https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianParentStories/s/lXVFmvyxxM), but its mostly come to a resolution. I wanted to do an update because I got some really nice and helpful comments, and also I love reading posts on here that actually follow up to give a conclusion to their stories. Sorry this is a bit long! To recap: I asked advice about how to deal with my crazy controlling parents who were super upset with my trying to set any type of boundaries after moving to a different country and (after a year) moving in with my long term partner and attending therapy, which helped me understand just how enmeshed my family was, and how emotionally imm...

Animosity against First Nations on Canadian subreddits: recurring bad faith arguments and a response

44m ago

Nine months ago, I made a [**post here**](https://www.reddit.com/r/FirstNationsCanada/comments/1lgmple/comment/ocmy4zt/) asking why there's so much disdain or animosity against the First Nations on this website. I as a non-Canadian noticed this even in places where First Nations were unfairly mocked and lots of bad faith arguments were allowed, regardless of the topic and subreddit. Expectedly, there were a fair amount of comments that shared sentiments agreeing and disagreeing with this notion. The general theme of the comments that disagreed with this notion was that this was overexaggerated and that the First Nations people don't really suffer as much. However, [just today the...

Got the dollar in 2017 for $10

I got this liberty dollar for $10 from a roommate who worked at a pawn and said the quality wasn’t good enough to put on the shelves. Does it look real? It sounds real. I found the quarter recently I got as change from the grocery store.

$25/hr for twin infants plus additional cleaning???

52m ago

I came across the below job post via a local agency. Is it just me or do agency job descriptions like this come off super intimidating? I feel like they use a bunch of big words to describe what the ideal candidate would be and make it sound so much more intense than necessary lol Also.....am I crazy or is $25-30/hr pretty darn low for a job like this? It's twin infants...nannying for infants is very demanding let alone two at once. Plus cleaning pump parts, loading/emptying the dishwasher, washing all the babies laundry and sheets, meal prep, planning activities and outings......that should be more like $35/hr in my mind. Especially considering they say they want someone who is experi...

HumanKind: Changing the World One Small Act at a Time by Brad Aronson

52m ago

🌿 **Detailed Overview:** Brad Aronson's *HumanKind: Changing the World One Small Act at a Time* is a profoundly moving and uplifting collection of true stories that serves as a powerful testament to the impact of human kindness. The book is structured as a series of short, inspiring narratives, each illustrating how a single, often small, deed can create a ripple effect of positive change. Its philosophical foundation is not a complex ideology but a simple, heartfelt truth: kindness is a transformative force that has the power to heal individuals and strengthen communities. The principal teaching is that you don't need wealth, power, or a grand plan to make a significant diff...

I went to an amusment park with my friends and the haunted ide didn’t appear on the map

53m ago

It’s hard to tell this story but I know I have to in the hope it served as a warning and saves others’ lives. Jaya had bought us tickets to the amusement park. We had been planning to go for a while but never had the chance due to work or money. So while I felt a little guilty that Jaya had spent that kind of money on me, I agreed. I have to admit, at first, it was fun. Nick, Jaya and I got on all the roller coasters and honestly, I’m not sure how they convinced me to get on the free fall. I thought I would die and that would be the scariest game of the day, I was wrong. “What is that game?” Nick pointed to an attraction with a long line. In front of us stood a ride with a haunt...

Am I the only one who ******* hates doctors? SALTY RANT

57m ago

One of the most prestigious jobs in our classiest society. Full of supposedly smart people (privileged people who have time and money) who go to school for 8+ years and then years of training afterward to become professionals of care. Reality: Devil motherfuckers who rival politicians in time-wasting bureaucracy and cant even provide a basic level of care. My ****** doctor won't even provide me basic medication for ADHD that I am ALREADY DIAGNOSED WITH and keeps referring me to specialists for a second opinion (because she didnt like the first). Literally am going to waste years for meds this Satan ***** could prescribe me in 5 minutes if she gave a single **** about me. I dont even ...

Am I Being a ***** to my Autistic Friend Over a Straw Wrapper?

1h ago

Let me know what you guys think, or if you have any advice. Long-ish but JUST READ: I’ve known my friend for 8 years, and we’ve been best friends for the past 4 years. My friend has autism and various disabilities that affect their physical and mental health. I LOVE them dearly, but they get upset with other people very frequently. Here’s the issue: My friend and I just went on vacation to visit my family. I wanted to be positive and have a good time, but they were in a bad mood 90% of our trip. My friend was crying multiple times a day, wanted to listen to sad music on the road trip, and when we planned to go to the beach for dinner, a switch flipped and they immediately were in a ho...

Why does everything fall apart as soon as I start seeing success?

1h ago

I’m 19 and I’ve noticed a pattern I can’t seem to wrap my head around. Throughout high school I never had a traditional job. I was running online stores, reselling, and doing marketing for small businesses. I was consistently making around 3–5k/month on my own. Then one summer, after a family member passed, everything went sideways. My head wasn’t clear, I lost focus, drifted away from my family, and ended up losing everything I had built. Since then, I’ve been trying to rebuild. And I *can* rebuild. About 8 months ago I started a business model that got up to around 18–25k/month. For a short period, it felt like things were finally working again. Then it collapsed fast....
