My whole life, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to just walk in and snoop through peoples houses

3h ago

Im shocked the older I get that this isn’t A. Some phenomenon I was able to grow out of or B. Something I haven’t been able to find people who share the same feelings. I’ve always considered the thoughts (the inherent ‘curiousness’) pretty harmless. Firstly, I have little to no desire to actually just walk into someone’s house. That would be wrong. For me, It’s more about the fact that there even is anything to snoop into. It’s about what you don’t know, and don’t have permission to know. It’s an impulse I’ve felt solo on my whole life. Times Ive really noticed this surg of curiousity; -looking through your neighbours lit window (bonus points if you can see their tv...

My story.

3h ago

Hi I'm Nola I rather prefer not to say my age but I want to share my story, growing up I had a rough childhood abusive Dad and a work alcoholic mom,my dad would beat me and my sister day and night untill my mother got home at 3 am or even later stretching to.6am when she got home. Me and my sister would be locked in the bathroom tending to our wounds learning to keep our crying silent in the morning I would get up and go to school like nothing was wrong hiding the bruises with my mom's drugstore makeup my clothes were always wrinkled but not dirty after school I would hang out at my friend Aidens house he was my only escape, until my sister took him away I was left just sitting at ...

Alcohol is a big fat liar.

3h ago

My first post back here was removed (mods, I edited the political part of that post by the way), but I've been going between days one and zero (with a day two in there) these last couple weeks. I don't want another day zero, I just want to see that number start getting bigger, one day at a time. My partner and I are both struggling. We lost four animals that we had for 10+ years each in the last 3.5 years, the last being my 19 year old cat that we had to put down a few weeks ago. We both struggled with anxiety and depression before discovering alcohol, and have plenty of codependency issues to work through as well. We've been fully aware that we're drinking to numb our ...

GC to SG

3h ago

I have decided to vent about my situation. I read the rules and don't think I am breaking any. Apologies if I have broken any. I have been a long time lurker but over the past few years I have been wholeheartedly convinced I have narcs in my family. I am in my late 20s. My nfather is in his early 70s and my nmom is in her early 60s. I was the golden child growing up. My brother who is 7 years my senior was the scapegoat. He suffers from ADHD and likely ASD level 1 (formerly called aspergers). I also have an ADHD diagnosis and suspect I could be on the spectrum. Growing up I saw how bad things were for him when he expressed his negative emotions and difficulties in school. They may p...

Targeted by my DM and Manager

3h ago

So for context I work at a dollar general, I had a 8am shift to 4pm and got a thirty minute break. I was tired and we were swamped. I ended up telling my ASM I was taking my break and I sat down in the office we have up front that everyone takes breaks in. The day after I got a scathing message from my manager saying she was taking 30 minutes off my clock because I was sitting in the office chitchatting with my ASM and the DM had caught us on camera. I had explained to her that I had a break I may have just forgotten to clock out. She wanted to write me up but we have had worse things happen with employees at our store, like people’s drawers being short multiple times of 30-50 dollars or k...

Cleaning multi-head razors blades

3h ago

If you're at all like me and you use one of those razors with cartridges that have three or five or seven blades in them, you may have found that they're impossible to keep clean, and they don't work if they have muck trapped in them. Rinsing under hot water doesn't do much. And I've tried almost everything else I could think of: washcloths, brushes, and so on. If you do succeed, it takes forever. After a while, you just get tired of the hassle and switch to a new blade. Now I've found a solution: compressed air. Get one of those little cans of stuff you use to **** the dust out of your computer or whatever. You can pick them up at the dollar store for a...

Are there any gym rats on EBT using the benefits to buy the more expensive high quality health foods?

3h ago

First off, I don’t want to get political. What people choose to spend their food stamps on doesn’t affect me. I’m actually just curious bc all I hear about is people complaining about not being able to buy pop and sugary snacks or I see all these tik toks of ebt grocery hauls where it’s all frozen pizza chips and pop. I’m also not one to judge anyone for being on food stamps bc we fell on some hard times over the past year and actually tried applying but were right over the income limit. I did get Medicaid and wic though. It seems to me like the main difference is that wic lets you purchase from a list of select products and food stamps covers any brand of food item. I happen to b...

I Think My Husband is a ******* Fish Person

4h ago

I'm going to start this by saying: I love my husband... I truly do. He didn't start out like this. We've been married for about five years now, and up until this point, blissfully so, I might add. I met John at a party during our first year of college. Biology major, like me. He seemed to say all the right things, knew all the right people, and was quite attractive; we clicked immediately. After only one conversation, I'd fallen hard for him—hook, line, and sinker. It wasn't long before we were dating. In a whirlwind of a year, we went from being introduced to moving in together to engaged and then married. In hindsight, I know I moved too quickly, but it didn...

Girlfriend is moving to Brazil. Should I go with her?

4h ago

So I’ve been seriously thinking about moving to Brazil, mainly Rio, and honestly I’m all over the place about it. On one hand, I’m excited. My girlfriend’s Brazilian and she’s moving back to go to school. so I’d have someone there I know. I’ve also always wanted to live abroad and experience a completely different culture, and Brazil just seems so alive, football, music, food, just all of it. I also dont know if it would be better for me to study there or just take language classes. I've heard that it might be a good plan to get a student visa but also ive heard I couldnt work in Brazil with only a student visa. Also I only have a high school diploma and most of my work...

Hiring a Designer

4h ago

I moved into a new-to-me house in June and the house is more than I can handle decorating on my own. It was built about 20 years ago, and needs some updates To do justice to the house, I need to find a design style and palette that stretches me a little as the houses I’ve lived in previously were very different. For example, thais house has coffered ceilings, turrets, and architectural elements that don’t really go with my MCM historical taste. I contacted a designer to get help creating a color palette and choosing some lighting updates, but they are super busy and very expensive. I feel like I bought a beautiful house that I was able to afford because of the condition it was in, bu...

Apps that have stood the test of time?

4h ago

What is your app which stands the test of time? Mine is Cloud Radio Pro a very underrated radio app that provides an excellent bang for the Play Credit spent. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.MSoft.cloudradioPro It is a one time payment app,I think I spent 6 or 7 dollars for it a little over a year ago. Cloud Radio Pro has over 80,000 radio stations from around the world or one can manually enter your own radio/live audio streaming links. It also records, can set alarm to my favorite radio station and offers a sleep timer. The reason that it stands the test of time is because there are newer alternaives and the app has been around quite some time but the app still recei...

I (35F) feel like being Maid of Honor in friends (36F) wedding is ruining our friendship

4h ago

My (36F) friend "S" (36F) recently got engaged. We have been friends for 23 years. She asked me to be her maid of honor and I said yes. We live in Utah and S is having an LDS wedding in the temple followed by a reception at the cultural hall at her stake center. I am not LDS and will obviously not be able to be at her temple wedding. I've never been a MoH (or even in a bridal party) and if I'm being completely honest I haven't even been to many weddings. Most of my friends either got married 20 years ago when they were 18 or are getting married now (usually 2nd marriages, with more casual weddings and no bridal party). I asked S what the job of the MoH was and she s...

[RF] The Undertaker and the *****

4h ago

The undertaker lived three streets over from the freight yard, in a one story house, and he never locked the door and everyone thought it was because no one would steal from a man who dressed the dead. The truth was, he’d lost the key sometime in ’88 and never thought to have another cut. His name was Warren and everyone called him Mr. Crane. He owned two suits, both black, and one hat that kept its shape no matter how it rained. The suit he wore for work had a faint smell of formaldehyde. The other was for town meetings, which he attended, but rarely ever spoke. The whore’s name was Alma. She had come from somewhere west, way past Nevada. The men who saw her said she charged a flat ...

Sometimes the small things really mean a lot

4h ago

So, last night was a bit annoying for me because it was raining. Thankfully it lessened to a couple bouts of light drizzle by the time I got outside, but the sudden drop in temperature made me shiver even under my jacket. When I finally got to sleep, some guy woke me up asking if he could share some food with me. I had just eaten and didn't need food bc of my recently acquired SNAP benefits, so I said, "Oh! I just ate not long ago, but thank you." He nodded and then asked if he could give me some money to 'fulfill his good deed for the day.' I nodded and he handed me way more than I thought he would give me. I thanked him, he left, and I went back to sleep. Because...

Advice for prepping homemade puree foods

4h ago

I wanna jumpstart prepping & freezing puree foods. Would 4oz-6oz plastic freezer containers be good or would breastmilk storage bags to store & freeze homemade puree foods? I’m in the US so if any recs on either one or a better idea. I’m not interested in glass unless it’s in the same price range $30+/- a few dollars. I’m just clumsy & accident prone & I know I would end up breaking a couple glass containers.
