There's a platform with 7M+ devices and almost zero third-party apps.27m agoI research tech patent filings as a hobby. One thing that's been standing out to me is how much money Apple, Meta, and Samsung are pouring into AR/VR while almost nobody is building apps for these devices. Quick context: Meta sold over 7 million Ray-Ban smart glasses in 2025. Up from 2 million the year before. They're targeting 10 million/year production by 2026. Apple has 5,000+ spatial computing patents. Samsung and Google are both building competing glasses with Android XR. The install base is growing fast. In December 2025, Meta released the Wearables Device Access Toolkit in developer preview. First time third-party devs can access the camera and audio on these glasses progr... Smart Storage Meets Timeless Style29m agoThe wooden single bed with a drawer is the ideal combination of functionality and the classical design and it is suitable to be used in tiny bedrooms or children rooms or guest bedrooms. In case you need a bed that gives maximum space and still has no need to compromise on style, then this kind of bed is an effective choice. The drawers under it are an added storage space to store clothes, bedding, toys, or seasonal items to make your room tidy and well-organized. Among the greatest benefits of a single bed with a drawer made of wood, there is the durability. The wooden frames are hard wood, long-lasting and capable of sustaining use on a day to day basis. Wooden finishes match well with ot... Guide to buying a retiring business30m agoI finished my MBA a couple of years ago and instead of going back to consulting or trying to raise a venture round for some half-formed startup idea, I bought a business from a guy who was ready to retire. A lot of people in my class asked me how I did it because the path is not really taught in any structured way at school, and the people who do teach it tend to either be search fund evangelists who make it sound easier than it is, or skeptics who make it sound impossible. The truth is somewhere in between, and the only way I learned where exactly was by doing it. So this is what I wish someone had told me when I was sitting in my second year wondering whether this was actually a real optio... Asian American guy and Hong Kong girl dating32m agoI’m a abc guy who dated a girl from Hong Kong What started off really strong, lots of chemistry and love turned into the most toxic relationship I ever had. My female friend from hong Kong said unfortunately, this can be quite the norm for girls that are from Hong Kong. Is this accurate generally speaking or was this person an exception. My guess is that no, not all women are like this from Hong Kong. But the ones that are very entitled materialistic and lack self awareness might be like this I’m just at a loss. I didn’t realize how big the culture difference would be as a abc dating hk girl in us would be like -never paying for anything -screaming and yelling and cursing i... AIO: Asking for help?34m agoThis is my first time posting in a AIO. Hopefully I do this okay. I’m just losing my mind and I’m at wits end. I have been running around to multiple stores all weekend trying to get the items needed for my kids new sport that starts this week. My husband does not help, he sits at home, drinks beer and doesn’t do anything. This is all just today’s things: There was a pile of recycling in the middle of the kitchen floor that needed to be flattened for the bin, laundry for swimming lessons to be washed, the cat needed to be fed, general tidying to be done. I worked all day (I work full time) and he works as well. I texted my husband at the above time when I was out in the store grabb... The Kennedy Dynasty | President **** Van Dyke's term (1991-1992)35m ago[**** Van Dyke is coming to the end of his first term as President, and he's still got his signature smile and optimistic outlook for the future. However, sometimes it's hard to be optimistic when the world seems like it's falling apart.](https://preview.redd.it/7s0dmk9kn2vg1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=837d55e59436b839416533c8ff266927c7982683) From 1991-92, a **divided Congress** and **conflict overseas** sideline **** Van Dyke's domestic agenda. **Foreign policy** comes into the spotlight, and it is again clear that it remains **an area where this administration is often inadequate.** A familiar face from the past will **return to natio... I feel weird about the ending of Chew36m agoChew is a comic about Tony Chu a cibopath.A cibopath is someone who has the power to gain the memories of anything they eat(except for beats). So if Tony eats an apple he gets all the memories of that apple being planted, sprayed with pesticides, picked, and put on the store shelves. If he eats a chicken he gets all the memories of that chicken being slaughtered. The world of Chew is interesting. A virus in chickens killed 23 million people across the world and now selling chickens for consumption is now outlawed. Due to this the FDA has risen in power and now oversees any food related crimes. They basically became the FBI. Tony Chu gets recruited by the FDA and many adventures ensue thro... The AR smart glasses market tripled last year and almost nobody is building for it. I will not promote.36m ago**TL;DR:** I spend a lot of time reading patent filings from Apple, Meta, Samsung, and others. AR/VR keeps coming up. Apple has 5,000+ spatial computing patents. Meta has 200+ and just opened their smart glasses SDK in December 2025. 390,000 AR/VR patent applications are pending globally. On the consumer side, Meta sold 7 million smart glasses in 2025, up from 2 million the year before. The third-party developer ecosystem on these devices is almost empty. I think this looks a lot like early platforms that created outsized returns for whoever showed up first. I spend a lot of time going through tech patent filings. Not as a lawyer. I just find it useful for understanding where big companie... how is your experience working at cava?37m agoi’ve been working at cava since they opened my store’s location (about a year ago) and was wondering how other locations function? mines is honestly pretty disorganized lol. in the morning we have one person on prep, one on grill, two on digital orders, and two on front line in addition to the manager on shift. we are ALWAYS short handed. at least one person call in PER SHIFT and gm doesn’t seem to care. we have been busy these past couple of weeks and having one person on grill seems absurd and kind of impossible (we had two people on grill when we first opened). i started on grill about 2 months ago and pretty got the hang of it but it still seems like so much more work for just ... Feedback on Times Square?38m agoI need help. So growing up it was a common thing for my family to do-to go to Times Square and just fart around. Look at the lights, see the stores and just walk around it all. It's something I honestly have very fond memories of, and want to continue that tradition with my own kid. I was thinking of taking her to MOMA and then Times Square, as the walk between the two isn't that far. But my sibling, who took her kids there last summer, said it was awful. Something something about people being very scantily clad to the point where it was not child friendly-idk. But it did make me worry-what \*is\* Times Square like nowadays? I haven't been in years and just generally want ... Bit specific, but does anyone know a place that sells Barbie/Ken/fashion doll clothes?39m agoNot sure if I’ll have any luck, but I’m looking for in-person doll clothing. Ken more specifically than Barbie, but either is fine and it can be for any similar sized doll. Custom made or whatever brand works too, really anything. Local crafters even, although I think more often not they have online storefronts. So far I’ve checked the Walmart in uptown, which had an abysmal selection. Anyone know of any toy stores or general stores that may have some? I don’t drive, close to downtown, uptown or Vic West would be preferable, but I can make a trip if I really need to. I know online is my best bet, but I figured it was worth a shot here too, thanks! What do you need for a simple free bookkeeping41m agoHi all, I’m a taxpayer myself and have always found bookkeeping and maintaining a clean ledger to be one of the more frustrating parts of filing taxes. Because of that, we’re building a light application aimed at helping individuals and sole proprietors manage their bookkeeping in a simpler way. Current prototype features: * Free to use (No subscription or any fee for using this, hopefully this will not break the rules of the channel, lol) * Mobile-first app for personal and small business bookkeeping * Ability to take or upload receipt photos, stored locally on your device (you can use your personal cloud for cross-device sync) * Automatic generation of General Ledger, Profit &am... How to take a break?43m agoI want to take a break from fish-keeping, but I have no clue as to how. I’ve been struggling to keep up with tank maintenance for a while and I don’t find a lot of joy in it anymore. I know a large part of that is because I’ve been in grad school, and a part of me is hoping that once I have less responsibilities I’ll start to like it again. I want to take a break, but how? I have no good fish stores near me, it’s really just petcos and petsmarts. I can’t imagine taking them to those stores just for them to die in their tanks. I’ve had my tanks for almost four years and they’ve weathered two moves and a natural disaster that cut power for a week. I feel emotional attachment t... Suspension Creaking Noise47m agoI have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. Recently I’ve been noticing creaking when going down my dirt road or just in general driving. I was told by someone to grease my suspension but I only have 2 grease fittings I could find which was the outer tie rods. I have already greased them. I figured there would be grease fittings on the control arms ball joints but I believe that is only for aftermarket control arms. I’m thinking I need to replace my control arms but I wanted to post on here before I spend 100’s of dollars. I have attached a video of me driving down my road. How did you become anti-consumption?49m agoi'm curious how people came across this sub or anticonsumption in general. My boomer parents loved to buy things, and as a child it stressed me out immensely just how much stuff we had. As an adult I've continued to only buy things that I absolutely need and fix/replace things to the best of my ability. I still drive my old car from high school, I still shop for clothes that I need at thrift stores, and I frequently use my local library like it's my second home. Pricing53m agoWhen people question her prices, she always says how it takes her so much longer because of her disability. If that’s true, how is she putting out 1 painting every other day? She would be sitting there painting nonstop- which I highly doubt. How do her fans not see this?! And why are they paying so much for a kindergarteners dollar store supply painting? Seriously. I’m so confused by these people- they are funneling money to her “tip jar” and buying $200 scribbles, because they saw her paint 3 small circles, and she’s so “inspiring”. Also- people keep suggesting she set some paintings up for bidding. She will never do that because then we will see how many people are truly buy...
