The Guardian on May 26, 1988: Towering Trump

What would he do about Iran, for instance? "I'd be harsh on Iran. They've been beating us psychologically, making us look a bunch of fools. One bullet shot at one of our men or ships and I'd do a number on Kharg Island. I'd go in and take it. Iran can't even beat Iraq, yet they push the United States around. It'd be good for the world to take them on."

What $285 Cash + $175 Trade Credit got me at a Card Show!

3h ago

Can you tell which era is my favorite?? Had an absolute blast at my 2nd ever card show!! Currently filling up my Galar region binder and it was awesome being able to grab so many of the cards I needed within 2 hours of shopping. The one exception was the Tag Team Dollar General pack, which I was able to trade 6 other dollar tree packs i had to complete the art set and put the rest towards the Galarian Moltres Alt Art. 10/10 would recommend!! Just make sure to always stick to the budget you set for yourself before even walking in 😎

My list of the BEST 4K Blu-ray releases worldwide (bitrate / encode / HDR focused)

3h ago

Over the last few years I’ve become a bit obsessive about finding the best possible 4K Blu-ray version of a film worldwide. I ended up rebuying a lot of movies because another label or region simply had a better: • encode • bitrate / disc capacity • HDR grading • grain handling Extras and packaging don’t matter here — this is purely about image quality and presentation. I figured I’d share my list of what I currently consider the best versions available worldwide. If anyone knows a better encode or release I missed, I’d love to hear it. ⸻ Western / Classics The Dollars Trilogy BEST: Arrow Video 4K Upgrade from: Kino Lorber Why: HDR grading and stronger encod...

Fish keep dying

3h ago

I've had a lot of trouble with my 10 gallon tank since setup. Learning about the nitrogen cycle, lighting, plants, and temperature. Over the past 5-6 months I've had this tank and almost everything dies. At first it was a shrimp tank and my water was too hot. I didn't understand how my heater worked. I finally figured it out after awhile. My cats kept getting into the tank so I got a lid, it rusted, leaked into the water, killed a ton of shrimp. I put glass under the metal lid and now it doesn't rust or get wet. I also did multiple water changes. I got a better light, my plants grow well. I got my water tested at the pet store. Pet store guys said it was the cleanest wate...

1 year in, Tatung is a clear winner in my house

3h ago

After a year of frequent use, everyone in the house is a fan of this machine. This ***** zojirushi and others out of the water for me. For those not aware of how this thing works, it's a double boiler. You add water inside, then put in your rice pot, cover it with the lid, and flip the switch to cook. the machine will cook until the water is boiled off and then switch to warm. This was a cooker invented in Taiwan right around the time of electrification. It's a really simple machine intended to be an all-around steam-cooking tool. Intended to be a daily driver for feeding families. So for those sweating the price tag: think of this as an appliance like a toaster oven or an inst...

What is #VALZUBIRIAGENDA and some ideas and insights

3h ago

# The 3 basic parameters of hashtag #Valzubiriagenda: 1. **We artists and everyone else can write and self-publish art- and artist-related books: memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs.** Books are forever. Pamphlets and brochures are not books. 2. **We announce a schedule of increasing prices of our art pieces,** which includes quantities (scarcity numbers) per price point and overall (the total quantity of art pieces we might ever make). This helps art traders, art investors and art collectors speculate or even stop speculating and instead join a community of investors working together to hopefully skyrocket to the higher announced prices in a shorter span of time. 3. **We can u...

The5ers Payout Taxes: Your Responsibility Guidance (2026 Trader's Handbook)

3h ago

***Last Verified:*** *March 2026* ***| Trader-Tested & IRS-Compliant*** # Understanding The5ers Payout Structure Before Tax Season # How The5ers Bi-Weekly Payouts Work: What Traders Actually Receive The5ers operates on a bi-weekly payout cycle that most new traders don't fully grasp until their first withdrawal request hits the dashboard. Unlike traditional prop firms that make you wait 30 days, The5ers processes eligible payouts every two weeks—provided you've hit the minimum $150 withdrawal threshold and maintained your account in good standing. Here's what actually lands in your account: your gross profit share minus any applicable fees. If you're on the...

I built an open-source governance layer for Schema Registries event7 — looking for feedback

3h ago

Hey r/apachekafka, I've been working on a side project for the past few months and I think it's reached a point where feedback would be really valuable. It started as a tool for a customer, but I decided to generalize it into a standalone product. If you manage schemas across Confluent SR, Apicurio/Service Registry Red Hat, or other registries, you probably know the pain: there's no unified way to govern them. Compatibility rules live in one place, business metadata in another (or nowhere), Data Rules are a paid feature in Confluent Cloud, and generating AsyncAPI specs or understanding schema dependencies requires custom tooling every time. What event7 does event7 is a g...

transfer housing

4h ago

hi!! i’m a music major transferring in the fall trying to figure out the on campus housing application :P is it worth trying to find roommates in advance, or do they generally do well placing you?? and also, what do i put in the little “about me” section? also, any advice on meal plans? i’ve read a little so far and i’m anticipating using the dining dollars more than the swipes, but how much do i really need? what gets you through a full semester (especially if you’re unsure what your work situation will be)? for reference i tend to have a weaker appetite, but on average i eat at least one or two meals a day. oh, and parking! is the $100/month really the best option, or is th...

Why do people pretend that Ye’s performances in the last year are any good?

4h ago

I’d like to have a discussion with anyone willing, in comments or messages, it doesn’t bother me. I feel like even I could put together a more engaging show. Ye if you read this I have watched over 1000 hours of footage of your live shows and am going to see you live multiple times this year I just want a discussion with the people. **Why I don’t believe Ye’s shows are incredible anymore:** **• Firstly, lets look at both nights of Mexico City.** Whilst I appreciate that Mexico City is at a huge altitude above sea level, and Ye is 48 years old, the singing and engagement in the music seems to be lacklustre at best. This can be split into 3 main criticisms: • Ye sings parts...

How my life changed after $100,000+ of cosmetic surgery.

4h ago

Hi everyone, apologies if this not allowed on this subreddit, but I thought it would be interesting to discuss. Before I had any plastic surgery, I was facially around average, slightly above average at best. I was on the heavier side as well, 73 kg/163 lbs at my highest, and am now down to 54 kg/120 lbs, with my height being 171 cm/5'8. I am currently a 20 year old female. My main facial flaws before surgery and weight loss was facial roundness, upper eyelid exposure, lack of under eye support, nonexistent lips, convex side profile, and general asymmetry. Scroll down to the bolded part if you don't care about my procedures, but are curious about how my life changed. The procedure...

"Reversible Cover Sleeve"

4h ago

Just opened my Day One Edition of Terminator 2D. This is the advertised "Reversible Cover Sleeve." Just what every collector wants in a reversible cover, artwork exclusively on the back, legal mumbo jumbo on the front cover and a spine of arrows to not tell you what game it is.

If you didn't have one you probably knew someone who did

Kirkland lawyer guards the brand of Marlon Brando

4h ago

For nearly 14 years, David Seeley, a Kirkland attorney, has represented school districts, defended criminals and taken on general litigation. All mainstream stuff. But then there has been his adjoining, and, to say the least, unusual legal life.  He was Marlon Brando’s general counsel for the last four years of the superstar’s life (he died in 2004 at age 80), and now is general counsel for Brando Enterprises. How unusual was legal life with Brando? This is Seeley’s first in-depth interview about his client. “It was amazing who Marlon could get on the phone at a drop of a hat. One time at his house, I looked at the speed dial on his phone — Jack Nicholson, Michael Jackson, al...

4h ago

Hello for the sixth time, firstly i want to apologize for my possible bad english, secondly hoping you all are having a good time. So, about Hello Kitty Island Adventure, i never played it before and saw that its like Animal Crossing but with a lot of Sanrio characters, saw a lot of videos about it and it just feels too cozy for me and when i saw that Retsuko from Aggretsuko was there i got hyped, and its not all about Retsuko, i never had the chance o playing any animal crossing game before so Hello Kitty Island Adventure can make this possible for being a Animal crossing like game, plus i never gave attention to games like that but the urge to play is too big. The chibi of the game is cut...

Ongoing return and refund dispute - UK Consumer Law query (England)

4h ago

I'm involved in an ongoing dispute regarding a return with an online clothing store. I have escalated to the small claims court but would appreciate advice on whether: • A retailer can enforce a policy requiring returns to be physically received within 14 days when the Consumer Contracts Regulations say goods only need to be sent back within that period? • Is creating a return through a retailer’s returns portal generally considered sufficient notice of cancellation? • If Klarna has already closed the payment dispute and marked the balance as £0, could the retailer realistically pursue me personally for the amount? Thank you

What were the 5 best days of 2025 for you and why?

4h ago

What were the best days of 2025? I’ll go first: 1. April 3rd, 2025 April 3rd, 2024 was a pretty bad day for me, but it became the best in all of 2025. I went to Lake Tahoe which was the highlight of that day and memorable for me. Usually when we vacation it’s automatically the best day for me by default, and this day was no exception. 2. June 4th, 2025 Pretty peak day overall gng. I graduated middle school and went to Asia on that day. 10/10, perfect day. The only reason why it’s lower than April 3rd here was because I did sorta feel sad when I graduated because Middle school was peak, and those memories were gone forever and friends I’ll never see again because they went to othe...
