My self-esteem is crushed trying to coparent

2h ago

I am a father, in my early 40's. His mother is also in her early 40's. We have a son who just turned 13. To give a backstory, we separated when he was 2. We lived together as a family, but we were never married. She is the custodial parent. I am the non-custodial. We have never had a parenting plan and have worked everything out on our own without a court order, and child support order is $0. For the past 10 years, our son has lived with me and I have been the primary caretaker. She has chosen to have minimal involvement in all of this time and will rarely see him. It has been this way for the past ten years. It is very common for a span of 3-4 months to go by (at times even longer...

What are the best local jewelers for an engagement ring? (I'm getting ready to propose to my girlfriend)

2h ago

I live in Richardson, but I'm open to buying anywhere in DFW. I'd like recommendations beyond the big box stores like Jared or Kay (they have big markups, so I hear). I'd also love it if the place was good for wedding rings later on when the time comes. If it helps to know, I'm looking for a pear/marquise/oval shape for the main stone, with gold being the main metal setting.

AVR with detailed EQ

2h ago

Hello I have a dog that freaks out if she hears anything in a higher pitched frequency, I'd say around 2kHz and above. I watch a lot of YouTube so this throws out a lot of content creators that love to use 'ding' and cash register 'cha-chings', sports using timers that beep to start the event etc. Watch an ErictheElectric (food challenge) vid and he has all kinds of little sound effects as an example. What AVRs out there are a good choice that offer some kind of EQ or equivalent feature set where I can systematically tune and remove/clip/block/cut or substantially reduce those freqs? I currently only have a (can't say it here or it sends post straight to mod...

Why are the dutch so good at this sport?

2h ago

is anyone experiencing something like this?

2h ago

TL;DR i argumented with my mom about how i didnt eat banana and i didnt want her pressing me (with good intention) into eating banana so she thought i took her good intention as bad so she was mad at me (that's basically it and could've come in a conclusion and be good in 1 discussion) So, i just had an argument with my mom yesterday (very ridiculous topic actually) so it started off with her wanting me to eat banana (often times when i said no she often pressing me into doing something for some reason) but i said "no, and dont press me into eating it" (because i often get so nauseous about eating banana and gag while eating it) (and i might do the angry tone and words w...

Planning for future dog

2h ago

1. I need help in selecting a breed list for research for a potential future dog. I'm not getting it now, as I am going through some stuff that makes a new dog a bad idea. However in a year or so in the future would be good. 2. **Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?** Goodness, no.  I’ve owned 4 dogs.  I’ve puppysat and done foster for others.  I’ve had a cockerpoo, a wirehaired podengo portugueso medio, a Kerry blue terrier, and currently have a sheepcoat Airedale.  The cockerpoo was trained in just basic household obedience.  The podengo did sport (flyball), clean up her own toys, and get at least a dozen items on command...

Setup advice for playing both GT7 and PC Sims?

2h ago

Hi everyone, I currently play Gran Turismo 7 on a 55" LG OLED TV using a Fanatec ClubSport DD+ and load cell setup. I am looking to get into PC sim racing, like Assetto Corsa, but I will definitely keep playing GT7 as well. I see a lot of recommendations here for 49" 32:9 ultrawides like the Samsung G9 to get a good FOV. My main concern is the vertical height. After getting used to the massive screen of a 55" TV, won't a 49" ultrawide feel far too narrow vertically? I have a few specific preferences that rule out some common suggestions. I am not interested in triple monitors because I dislike the bezels, the massive footprint, and the overall aesthetic. VR is als...

Favoritism

2h ago

So there's this associate at my store, I'll call him J. J routinely breaks policies like overstocking, saying slurs, and trying to bribe management, most recently I found out he was printing the wrong tags for items, messing up our inventory counts. So I found one instance of this and immediately brought it to my coach and showed proof, Coach B says "oh good catch" and does nothing so I approach my store manager and ask him if we can do anything and show him that J printed the wrong tags multiple times, and store manager just says "no that was associate G not J" despite me showing the item history. I then bring it up to another coach and he just yelled at me for...

Hey, everyone! We’ve seen an increase in situations where users are approached via **Discord, DMs, or other unofficial platforms** and offered “deals” on AYN devices. How to Hack Your Brain Into a Winning Streak: the neuroscience that actually works

2h ago

been diving deep into neuroscience podcasts and research papers lately because i got weirdly obsessed with understanding why some people seem naturally "wired" to win while others struggle. turns out the answer isn't just about talent or luck. it's literally chemistry. your brain releases specific cocktails of neurochemicals when you succeed, and these chemicals don't just make you feel good, they actually rewire your neural pathways to crave more success. the kicker? you can trigger these same responses intentionally through small wins, basically hacking your brain into a winning streak. here's what i learned from neuroscientists, behavioral psychologists, ...

HS sports in Holland

2h ago

Looking at moving to the area at the end of 2026. What are the best high schools for sports in the area? Specifically looking for football, baseball and basketball. I still would like a good school for education as well. Google gives me some mixed reviews, so going to the source. We will be moving from San Antonio and want to ensure my kids stay in highly competitive sports.

Burning Skies — start like a survivor-like, end in bullet **** chaos (demo out now)

2h ago

**Burning Skies — survivor-like progression meets bullet **** boss fights (demo available)** I’m a solo indie dev working on *Burning Skies*, a roguelite vertical shmup where runs start with survivor-style progression and evolve into more intense bullet **** boss fights. I’ve been focusing a lot on gameplay readability and weapon systems lately, and I’d love to hear what stands out (good or bad) from a first impression. [Demo is available here if you want to try it](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1915690/Burning_Skies/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=gamedevscreens)

2h ago

Any recommendations would be helpful. I'm mostly looking for a camera like the Sony Cybershot Dsc-W570 but it doesn't have to be specifically it but i want to know if there are some shops that sell that kinda stuff. If you also know of some good thrift stores that might have good finds in terms of electronics please let me know! Thank you very much

Trip Report

Traveled late Jan to mid Feb LAX to NRT (Singapore business - worth it. food is good and seat was even better) HND to LAX (JAL business - would not recommend, food is below average and seat is uncomfortable especially when it's in life flat. Hilton Tokyo - good sized rooms (4/5). 7 Eleven/Lawson/Mickey D's/coin laundry/Family Mart all nearby. Metro right in front of the hotel Hyatt Regency Hakone (used GOH, food and room 5/5) - definitely would recommend. nice views and great food (little pricey because there is nothing around it). Hotel had free shuttles to/from Gora, Open-Air Museum, and Sounzan. Purchase a Hakone Freepass. Hyatt Regency Kyoto (used GOH, food and room \[got ...

Competitiveness and leadership

2h ago

I was reflecting on Jokic's public nonchalance regarding his NBA accomplishments. He certainly runs counter to the notion that peak competitiveness can only be achieved by being a hyper-intense maniac. Jokic is an incredibly successful player; he works hard and has earned some hardware. Yet the pursuit of basketball glory doesn't define his life. He treats his teammates well (from all reports), does his job, and spends the rest of his time thinking about horse racing. My theory is that the archetype of the competiton-obsessed savant was first popularized with Jordan's rise to popularity. Magic and Bird wanted to beat each other, sure, but I don't recall hearing as much l...
