There's Something Wrong in Brittlebow, Oregon. My Sister Never Left. [Part 1]

10h ago

My sister Carrie went missing on September 14th of last year. She's thirty-one, five-four, with shoulder-length brown hair, and a small scar above her left eyebrow from a bike accident when she was nine. She’s a documentary filmmaker. Not famous by any means, but genuinely good at it. I noticed that she always had this strange ability to make people trust her on camera within minutes of meeting them. I'd seen it happen more times than I could count. She'd tilt her head, ask one honest question, and people would open up like they'd been waiting their entire lives for somebody to ask. I used to tease her about it, calling it her superpower. She'd just shrug and say,...

Scanner Price Saga... Part 3

11h ago

After I had two issues with the scanner price of my groceries being higher than the shelf price, I noticed today that at Safeway Osborne they actually have the Pricing Code of Conduct clearly posted at eye level (and nicely laminated to boot) in the 'human' checkout lanes. There was lots of debate in the comments of my last post [https://www.reddit.com/r/Winnipeg/s/Redp61obhJ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Winnipeg/s/Redp61obhJ) about whether my overpriced pomegranate qualified under the code but this photo of the actual policy clears it up. Turns out the manager at Safeway Marion who told me my pomegranate does not qualify was wrong. According to the posted code, produce does in fac...

Moving from Seattle

12h ago

**Me**: 25y/o, quiet, childfree, non drinking/smoking (no desire for nightlife), cat mom I own my car so access to public transit isn’t a major priority. I’d like to have semi close access to a grocery store/pharmacy, and a craft store if we’re going all out **Budget: $1,700 + utilities** I could go a little higher on my budget but I’d prefer to put any extra money into my 401k **Looking for**: studio/1bed with hard flooring, quiet area, laundry in unit is ideal but I understand if that’s not available in my budget range, kitchen has to have an oven/stove… My allergies don’t love carpet :( **Location**: The only apartments I’ve found on Google searches ar...

Store Designs & Formats (and years built)

12h ago

Does anyone have information on the evolution of the CVS exterior store design and interior layouts through the years? Looking for the different types that exist, design choices, and years they were built.. particularly in the northeast. I believe early on CVS was in a lot of strip mall with all aisles all facing one way, then the switch to stand alone corner entry stores with a drive aisle occurred. I’ve noticed a lot of older brick stores and then the switch to a more modern look with the curved arch above the opening. Are there more designs (or popular ones not built by CVS but exist through acquisitions)? What years were each of these formats built? TY

looking for a small pharmacy

12h ago

The local pharmacy that I used, Westgate Family Pharmacy off Central, closed today without warning. I've had terrible experiences with Walgreens and CVS. I want to try smaller local pharmacies. Does anyone have suggestions for small mom-and-pop pharmacies around town in Toledo?

Living alone in rural or psuedo-rural areas?

13h ago

I live in the burbs now, but I gravitate towards hanging out in nature as a 47/m. I say that probably somewhat with a romanticized view though, because I do need the resources of at least the suburbs...pharmacy, grocery store, and I like popping in to local cafes/coffee shops, etc. One other perspective is I am trying to lose weight, and I wonder if moving somewhere closer to my typical trails, etc would help to do the trick, while also not being near so many takeout places. But the flip side of that is that when I do desire to go out into more social places, it would be a drive of like 20+ minutes or so from where I'm considering. Those who live in a rural/psuedo rural area, what...

A man at the pharmacy got mad I wouldn’t check if his prescription was ready

13h ago

This happened yesterday after work. I stopped at the pharmacy inside my grocery store to pick up my own prescription and grab a few things for dinner. I was wearing black trousers and a blue fleece from my actual job, which is not even close to the pharmacy uniform. I also had a shopping basket with pasta, deodorant, and a sad little premade salad in it, so I feel like my “customer” status should have been pretty obvious. While I was standing near the vitamin aisle waiting for the pharmacy line to go down, this older guy walked up and asked, “Can you check if my prescription is ready?” I said, “Oh, I don’t work here.” He stared at me like I had answered in another language...

Burning the Old Repo: A Field Guide to Migrating Legacy SCM at Scale (in the Age of AI)

15h ago

There is a particular kind of silence in an enterprise engineering org that has been running CVS, or worse, a CVS-shaped SVN, for fifteen years (or more). It is the silence of nobody wanting to be the one to touch it. The repository is a load-bearing fossil. The CI server is a Jenkins box that was provisioned in 2014, and the build script imports a Perl module that imports a shell script that imports a different Perl module. You know the place. You probably work there. I am attempting this short opinionated tour through what it takes to walk that codebase out of the [Pleistocene](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleistocene) and into a Git-native, AI-augmented future without setting the buildi...

In Europe now - What should I buy?

15h ago

Hi there! I am in Europe right now and I’m wondering what I should buy at the stores on every street selling the skincare brands we have (Sephora, pharmacies with lots of skincare products). I’m wondering what might be stronger/more effective off the shelf (like azelaic acid maybe?) vs. what we can get in North America. Edit: My main concerns are: \-refining pores, exfoliation, lightening sunspots, moisturizing without causing acne. Thanks for any recommendations!

Am I Overreacting over my friend expecting me to drive her everywhere?

15h ago

I’ve been friends with this girl for only a month or two now, and she asks me to drive her to the grocery store, pharmacy, bank, and appointments at least once a week and it feels to me (and my parents) like she’s using me. Today she asked me to go to the pharmacy to pick up medications and when I told her no she asked me why (which I don’t think is any of her business really) and I kind of went off on her, telling her exactly how I was feeling. She said I wasn’t being a ‘true friend’ because I wouldn’t drop my responsibilities at home to go drive her where she needs to go. She’s older and on disability, and she doesn’t have a vehicle and only moved to the state a few month...

This job is destroying my morality

15h ago

So I started as a Pharmacy Tech in about late December of 2025 and I have never had a job destroy me so mentally man. Ive worked in kitchens with legitimate coke addicts and had stuff thrown at me by both customers and management, and some how this just messes me up more. Everyday feels like I have to have a constant battle with customers about every little thing. Ive had customers yell at me about their scripts costing too much, even when its just been a $1.50; dear god ive had customers yell at me because their scripts cost nothing and they think im wrong. Been yelled at for asking customers if they need a receipt, because how dare I not know they desperately need their gd coupons. And...

I Left To Get Milk Years Ago.

15h ago

When I became a father, my worst fears were to be seen as the deadbeat who disappeared one horrible night. That fear was forced upon me in the most stereotypical way. The trip was only supposed to take maybe 15 minutes. It was three months after my daughter was born. My wife and I were exhausted from the mixture of being parents to both a newborn and a 5-year-old. As soon as we’d get one down, we’d be pulled directly into the line of fire for the other. Those days were pleasantly exhausting; you don’t understand how much I would give to be living through them again. Anyways, it was dark out during the cold hours of early November. My son was 5, like I said previously, and this littl...

Is this fake? [Product Question]

15h ago

Hi guys! I've been a fan of the Effaclar Duo+ for a long time, I just bought a new one and I'm wondering if it's fake? I can spot very obvious differences compared to my old one, like the packaging size, printing diferentes etc, but it's been a long long time since I got my old one. So I'm wondering if these changes officially happened during that time, or if this indicates this is a fake product. Additional info: \- I live in Brazil and it's been hard to find the Effaclar Duo+ without the (M), this is the only store I found online it and it's not a pharmacy. \- The new one has a very subtle perfume - which isn't bad, but I don't remember thi...

What has been people's experience with electronic scripts

15h ago

So. I'm switching back to electronic scripts after having used paper scripts since may 2023 during the shortage. I've been able to get my medicine at the same pharmacy for over a year a now, but I'm wondering what happens if the pharmacy is out? It was the case that if they are out you have to contact the doctor to get a new script sent to a pharmacy that has it as the pharmacy can't transfer schedule 2's even within the same chain like one CVS to another CVS and if you can't get a hold of the doctor because it's the weekend or it's Cinco de Mayo you're just Scrooge McDucked. Is that still the case?

CAR1 toe protector replacement?

16h ago

Heya fellas, Does anyone in the US have a recommendation for replacement toe protectors that come with the CAR1? I lost mine the other day and wasn't able to inflate properly without it. So I'd like a few extras or alternative options in case that happens again. Preferably sourced from a store like CVS or Walmart rather than Amazon if at all possible. Thanks!
