Unions

I haven’t heard what happens when Sycamore takes over. My pharmacy is unionized for techs (rite aid store), does the pharmacy still stay unionized?

Certain type of birth control suddenly harder to access

3h ago

The original manufacturer of Nuvaring recently sold its license, but the new manufacturer is not approved for HEB pharmacies. Even worse, if you’re on UT’s student insurance, generic forms are not covered anywhere. CVS might have it, but they’re not in-network. Not sure about other pharmacies at this point. UHS offers some procedures (IUD, nexplanon) at little to no cost with student insurance, so there’s options, but this is still incredibly frustrating. Posting this so others don’t find out the hard way!

Serious chikungunya outbreak in Guangdong – mosquito protection tips for travelers in China

6h ago

If you’re visiting China right now, especially Guangdong Province, be aware that the region is experiencing a serious chikungunya outbreak. As of August 9, there have already been over 8,000 confirmed cases. Tips for mosquito protection while traveling in China during summer: * Wear light-colored or long-sleeved clothing to reduce bites. * Use mosquito repellents that contain DEET or picaridin (also called icaridin). Some recommended mosquito repellents that are easy to find and traveler-friendly(can bring on planes and high-speed trains): * OFF! Deep Woods (DEET-based) – widely available and reliable. * Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent – effective and less greasy than DEET...

Bankruptcy was inevitable

7h ago

I’m sure this post will get blocked and banned by your soft *** mods who can’t take criticism, but your stores are the most pathetic, useless excuses for pharmacies. I understand why your **** company is going bankrupt. Can’t ever get your useless *** staff on the phone to transfer a prescription. I know why all your patients are leaving and coming to us. Get it together scrubs!

Discreet Pharmacies in Houston?

8h ago

Are there any pharmacies in Houston near 77074 where I can get estrodal with out them broadcasting my information in any national database? I understand they have to have records for 2 years legally, but I would rather keep it to that pharmacy only. CVS/Wallgreens for example all share it nationally. I want to try HRT to see if its for me but I want to be able to go back and not risk the fact that my other doctors would find out about it (of course I would tell them if its relevent).

[Serious answers only] How do you see the future of retail pharmacy? What can be done, realistically?

9h ago

I am in midst of the retail pharmacy chaos with Rite Aid closures. I know retail pharmacy has been on a steep decline in terms of unbelievable workload, mental health suffering, lack of support from the upper management, and we thought COVID was the worst of it. Unfortunately, Rite Aid closures has opened up another era of chaos that has taken a toll on all of us. I feel for Rite Aid folks who lost their jobs, CVS folks who are taking on the grunt of it and suffering so much, all around it's just a rough time. But I can only think, is this just going to be the new norm now? I just can't imagine this being the new expectation for all retail folks. When veteran pharmacists give u...

This might help…

9h ago

My pain specialist gave me this recipe for “triple cream”. I’ve used it for everything from costo pain to pain from a dysfunctional scapula and every ache and pain in between. I just mixed it up in an old cottage cheese container and it saved just fine between that and a couple small travel containers I keep in my purse and desk at work. This batch has lasted almost a year. I don’t find it to have a strong odor and it’s non greasy.

Wonderful Edmonton Visit (pictures and perspective from a Quebecer)

11h ago

Spent most of my visit in the Downtown, Whyte Ave and Sherwood Park areas. Downtown has really improved since I was there the last time (about 10 years ago). I took the LRT into the city. Clean and well organized. I had read that the LRT, and downtown in general, had a homeless problem and could be unsafe, however I did not feel uncomfortable at any time during my visit. There were 3 instances where I was asked for spare change, but that is pretty much normal for all the cities I have visited. Wasn't a big deal at all in my opinion. The Ice District, and close surrounding area to it, is a great addition to downtown. I couldn't get over the cleanliness of the streets, sidewal...

Urinary medical cat food cans making popping sounds

11h ago

Hi,so am writing this post in hopes to get a answer to my question. Which is: Is this cat food good to eat? For starters this isn't the first or last time this has happened,I've ran through all the vet pharmacies in my city and don't have any more options left. 99% of these medical cans, are making popping sounds when the bottom lid is pressed down on, the volume of the pop varies from can to can, some pop more some less. The cans have no other visible damage, they aren't bulging, and there are no dents on them. Further more I've opened some of these cans, just to discard them because A) it smells weird B) my cat won't eat it Just to be clear any can that has had t...

Rant - Gatekeeping & Permanent Patients for Psych Drs!

12h ago

I wrote this as a response to the post about getting banned from the ADHD sub if you are anti-meds, and it turned into a rant with not a whole lot of relevance to the OPs post, so I’m making a separate post. If you go to a psych dr and ask for (or even allude to anything along the lines of) adderall or xanax, you get “fired” by the doc (what a joke!), labelled drug-seeking, told you will not be able to recognize your children or grandchildren if you take a few Xanax once in a while (***** I am 40 with no kids and no partner, I’m not too concerned with that!) and pharmacy blacklisted. (Side note: I take adderall 30/day & armodafinil 375/day for severe narcolepsy - between ...

Getting transferred without being asked or warned?

12h ago

Hi folks, I started training for pharm tech about a month ago at a cvs location. I hit a phase in the training that my PM had to schedule me. Told him that and for some reason he tried to deflect it onto my FTC? He tells me they’re out of hours and he can’t even supply me the hours to finish my little bit of computer work I got left. Whatever, i asked him to schedule me on store needs so it’s ok. He says that I can pick up shifts at another CVS, gives me a couple of dates and offers for me to pick up those shifts. Even though I don’t feel comfortable training at a store that’s looking for someone to cover, im starting to get desperate for my certification so I agree. I opened the ...

Unsure About Proper Sick Call-Out Timing at Walgreens

12h ago

Is it true that I can’t call out the day before my shift? I was told I have to wait and call in sick early in the morning (like 4:00 or 5:00 AM). I’m the only technician scheduled on Saturday, but I’ve been having terrible foot pain and I need to use my paid sick time (I’m part-time, so that’s all I have). Should I call the store tonight to let them know, since the pharmacy will be closed, or wait until tomorrow morning to text my rxom and the store manager that I’m calling out sick
