Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with Kaiser and their ADHD assessments and options. TL;DR: 1 went to an out-of-network doctor. They assessed and diagnosed me with ADHD, sent the prescription (Vyvanse) to my local Kaiser pharmacy, and Kaiser filled it with no questions asked. I paid only a $5 copay at pickup. I watched my wife and friends go through the Kaiser process before looking into it myself, and honestly, it wasn't encouraging. So, this has been happening for a few months at my location: patients are able to request prescription refills that are expired but still showing that they have refills on the app. So for instance, one patient this morning requested on the app their prescription for blood pressure medication to be refilled. The app LET them put it through even though where I am at the prescription is expired/invalid if the prescription was not filled within the first six months of being written. So this blood pressure medication had been refilled on previous prescription numbers, but not this exact prescription number (written May 2025) because the patient had been using up a year long Rx of 90 day supplies ...

I knew this was coming, but thought I would ride it out until my next doctor’s appointment and then switch to Costco pharmacy. Walgreens has been nothing but problems since I moved there in November 2025 from CVS (which never filled the Rx ever, putting me six months behind the point when my PCP prescribed it). At least Walgreens filled it a few times, with a constant litany of “delay, out of stock, cancel.” My PCP worked extremely hard to get the PA and prescribed six months of the pens originally at 2.5mg, but assured me she would increase the dosage whenever we decided it was time.
