Lesson Learned - reconcile meds you received vs what clinic prescribed

4h ago

Hi all - Just finished up my first ER and had a stressful experience with meds, and I hope my warning will prevent others from having the same issue. I received all my cycle meds in one shipment and saw that I had lots of stim meds and a trigger shot (Pregnyl). Seemed complete. Well, I found out in conversation with my nurse, a day before the trigger shot, that I had a second trigger (Lupron) that had not been delivered. Anxiety triggered (pun intended). There was no indication in my online account with the pharmacy (CVS Specialty) that there was ever a Lupron Rx. It turns out that my clinic had not sent the full set of instructions to CVS to fill the Lupron Rx. When CVS was not able to ...

Grandparent tricked with Fake money

4h ago

Hi all, My 80+ non-English speaking immigrant grandparent received change when he payed for his lotteries at a convenience type store(from what he told me- maybe 1-2 weeks ago). I noticed that it felt weird and also didn’t have that face on it that reflects light (I could be wrong but it looked HIGHLY suspicious to me). I told him it doesn’t look real and next time let’s go back to the store and ask them, since he said it was from the change he got. He keeps cash at home and couldn’t really tell the difference when I pointed it out, and at the time we didn’t do anything about it right away because I had told him to keep it aside. The reason this came up again is because the othe...

Why does my shoppersdrugmart need 24hrs+ to fill prescription?

4h ago

Hi all. I am so frustrated with my shoppersdrugmart and hoping someone can tell me if I am doing something wrong. As the title says, the nearest store takes 24hrs + hours to fill prescription. No problem, I go and hand in my prescription in person before I run out of meds. They say come back tomorrow. Ok no problem . When I go back after 24hrs, they tell me they don't have stock and will need couple of days to order. I am signed up for text updates too and I was not informed. I went to a different pharmacy and got prescription filled in 5mins with insurance coverage. Why does shoppers need days to fill a basic prescription while other pharmacies can fill it faster ? What am I doing wron...

My neighborhood

5h ago

Just a little share: When I moved back to my favorite city I intentionally chose the neighborhood where I live for its walkability. I rarely use my car and am able to walk to a few grocery stores, pharmacy, cafes/bakeries,restaurants and the beach. I am getting back into a daily walking routine after a foot injury a couple of months ago (I suspect I broke something but maybe a bad sprain). I can only walk about one mile per outing, but am slowly increasing. I’m looking forward to getting back out and about in my lovely community.

[PSA] Instead of risking counterfeits, here's how to find legitimate dupes with the same ingredients

5h ago

I read the recent post about counterfeit products from third party sellers the one where a journalist sent 12 products from Amazon, eBay, Walmart and SHEIN to a lab and all 12 came back counterfeit or expired. Honestly that scared me. But it also made me think about why people buy from third party sellers in the first place. Most of the time it's because the real product is $50-80 and someone on Amazon is selling it for $25. Of course it's fake. The thing is, you don't need to risk that. A lot of these expensive products have legitimate dupes from drugstore brands that share 70-80% of the same active ingredients and you just buy them from the actual store. No sketchy sellers...

Atmos Summit + Hilton Surpass = Simplest Setup?

I was analyzing my spend for last year and I would like to hold my theory to the fire of this sub. I have determined that the best setup for me is the Atmos Summit + Hilton Surpass but maybe I'm missing something. Entropy in Blue

6h ago

“What happened to Grandma and Grandpa?” my little sister asks, clutching her teddy bear. Susie’s sun-bronzed face is scrunched, a prelude to tears.    “I don’t know,” my mother replies, her sun-ravaged countenance struggling for serenity beneath her ever-greying tresses. “I called the police, but they have no new information. Maybe the two of ’em took off on a sudden vacation.”   For seventeen days, my grandparents have been missing. The circumstance first reached our attention when they failed to appear at Susie’s eighth birthday party, leaving the many presents they’d promised undelivered. They’d left their cars, clothing, and credit cards behind. Seemingly, ...

I found a notebook in my late mother's attic. It's a detailed log of my daily routine from 2011. It's not...

**PART I** I'm going to try to be methodical about this because every time I try to explain it out loud it comes out wrong and people look at me like I'm either lying or unwell. Writing it out helps me keep the order of things straight. My mother passed away in February. She was 71, it was expected, it wasn't a shock in the way some deaths are but it was still terrible. I'm an only child and my father's been gone since I was in college so the job of going through the house fell entirely to me. I took two weeks off work and drove out to the town I grew up in and started from the top down. The attic was last. My mother was not a hoarder exactly but she kept thi...

CVS and gas stations have more in common than ever.

7h ago

My local CVS requires customers to retrieve the key to the restroom by the pharmacy from the front check out counter. What a key chain! (Imagine the filth on it.) Also, there was a hand-written reminder taped on the door to lock it on the way out. This is a first for me. So trashy. Sign of the times, I guess. Shame on nasty locals for ruining good things, regional managers and executives for not addressing such issues in a better way.

IV fentanyl preparations and light protection

7h ago

I work in a hospital as a pharmacy technician. We do sterile compounding but we also buy some IV premixes. Recently, our IV fentanyl drip supplier has had trouble shipping on time which has led to us to beginning compounding our own fentanyl drips. we are on day 4. I was there for day 1, everything I read led me to believe the IV fentanyl drips must be light protected at all times. I labeled the drips I batched as such. I was off work and then returned for day 4. The subsequent technicians to make the drips did not label them as “protect from light” or put them in light protective bags. Pharmacy manager is saying, “it probably doesn’t matter since we only have them for 4 days”...

First time picking up T prescription — pharmacy charging $148 for syringes. Any cheaper options?

7h ago

Hey everyone, I just got prescribed testosterone cypionate injections every 14 days and I’m excited but also a little shocked by the cost. My pharmacy told me: • Testosterone requires insurance approval • Syringe/needle supplies are $148 I’m planning to use GoodRx for the testosterone, but I didn’t expect the injection supplies to be that expensive. For context: \- I’ll be doing intramuscular thigh injections \- Prescription says 1 mL syringe + 25g 1” needle I’m trying to figure out: 1. Where do you buy syringes and needles cheaper? 2. Are online medical supply stores safe to use? 3. Does anyone get their T cheaper through Costco, Amazon pharmacy, or compoundi...

[UPDATE] - Someone stole my meds today.

8h ago

Hey all. First, thanks for the overwhelming response and support on my last post. I truly appreciate this community, it’s a lifeline for me. This way of living is incredibly isolating and difficult and it’s nice to have a place to vent and talk and commiserate over its many challenges. Sorry for the delay-I didn’t have any new information until just now. The police won’t even return my calls. On the first note, many many of you responded that it is illegal to dispense controls without showing ID. That’s not the case where I’m at but I won’t be surprised at all if it happens soon as governments and pharmacies play whack-a-mole trying to close any number of weaknesses in the ...

As someone who's graduating soon iv been looking for internships but ngl it's been hard. Now I know that I'm quite lacking in skills as of now and my resume isn't anything to be impressed about so I was hoping some hardened accounting veterans could give me some advice on what I should improve on. Now regarding my work experience, its quite limited and that last part about working at my "family owned restaurant" isn't quite true since I mostly just ate the free food and the restaurant shut down a while ...

Decently priced urgent care?

8h ago

I’m pretty sure I have strep throat and I’m currently without insurance. I went to a CVS minutes clinic where they told me it would be like 300$ for a strep test. I don’t have even have a primary care doctor anymore. Suggestions? Or has anyone ever used a telehealth thing called call on doc. It says it’s only 39.99$ plus the cost of the prescription at a pharmacy

DIY crackle test 1: creme polish + alcohol

8h ago

SPOILER ALERT!! The flair gives away the ending lol. This is an OPI creme from my destash pile + 99% isopropyl alcohol. It’s what I have on hand so I figured it was worth a shot. Proportions aren’t super exact - I have a graduated disposable pipette + a 5mL bottle, so I used the pipette to measure the alcohol, then added polish, assuming if I added 1mL of alcohol then filled the bottle, I’d have “close enough” to 4mL of polish, and same for the other mixes. (I’m too lazy to dirty a second pipette in the polish 🤣) I tried: \- 1/5 alcohol, 4/5 polish \- half alcohol half polish \- 4/5 alcohol, 1/5 polish. Each was painted on a swatch stick over a dry layer of another...

There is no war in ba sing se

8h ago

I’ve been working with cvs going on 6 years soon (don’t know how I’ve lasted this long), and have always wondered who has it harder and why; meaning techs versus front store associates. This isn’t designed to start a war or arguments just genuinely curious as I have tech friends and know they do a lot as well as I do up front [View Poll](https://www.reddit.com/poll/1rq3my0)
