States are taking steps to ease access to COVID-19 vaccines as they await federal recommendation

Pharmacy chain says the shots are available in most states without individual prescriptions CVS Health, the biggest pharmacy chain in the U.S., says its stores are offering the shots without an individual prescription in 41 states as of midday Friday. But the remaining states — Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah and West Virginia, plus the District of Columbia — require individual prescriptions under the company’s interpretation of state policies. Arizona, Maine and North Carolina are likely to come off that list as the new orders take effect there. “I will not stand idly by while the Trump Administration makes it harder for Maine people to ge...

So I’ve been scheduled to work the pharmacy tomorrow and I’m kinda freaking out to say the least 😅. I’ve only been working the front of the store so i’m familiar with the cash register. I’m both licensed and certified tech but i just haven’t had any hands on training/experience . So I am hoping to get some kind of advice/tips. maybe even an idea of what I can expect anything helps. thanks so much in advance

I was offered a pharmacy manager position, but they gave me the lower end of the salary range. How can I negotiate for the higher end of the range without coming off the wrong way? Its a tough store with newly techs?

Is it too early to quit and move to a different pharmacy?

4h ago

So I got hired for a pharmacy tech position about a month ago, almost finished training and getting the hang of how things work in a retail pharmacy. But recently, another pharmacy that I applied to for a pharmacy tech job got back to me after an application I put in a few weeks ago. When I did the interview, my job responsibilities compared to retail were much more lax. It was non-customer-facing, and I'm pretty much dispensing medications and managing inventory. More task-focused for someone who has neurodivergence like me. They also have in-house certification/registration as well as training like with the store I'm employed with. This position sounds like a dream compared to t...

Typo in this recipe?

5h ago

I want to make this cookie recipe and was about to go out and buy anise oil. Looking at it again though, 1/4 cup seems like a LOT. I couldn’t imagine putting that much extract in a recipe, and oil is supposed to be even more potent, no? Could this be a typo or do I really need that much?

Accepted a PIC position as a recent graduate

6h ago

Hi everyone, I recently graduated and received my license in NY. I accepted a supervising pharmacist position as my first job in an independent pharmacy ~200 scripts daily. My student experience is mainly in hospital setting plus 1.5 year experience in CVS during COVID as a technician. Any advice what to keep an eye out for? Any red flags to be aware of? Or any general advice is appreciated. (My ultimate goal is to learn the business as the PIC in hopes of opening my own business in a few years)

Disabled. Had to withdraw retirement funds. What happens to doctors' appointments and prescriptions received in the...

Location: OR. I am disabled but not on SSI or SSDI. I receive Medicaid and ebt. I was behind on rent and had no choice but to do an early withdrawal of retirement funds for back rent and to pay bills. I also needed to use the money for moving expenses, etc. I gave my notice that I was moving out in the second half of July. I had no new address that I moved to in my state (OR) to forward my mail to, because I was going to stay in a hotel for a while after moving out, so I had no choice but to forward it to a family member's out-of-state address. I received the funds I withdrew from my retirement fund in mid-July before I moved out. In the stress of all this, trying to get myself moved ...

Gum Graft - Documenting my experience

7h ago

Sharing this here in hopes of helping/informing others in situations similar to mine. Mid-20's male, generally good health, never had teeth issues before. Flossed once and brushed once or twice per day, every day, from at least early teenage through now. My mistake though, is that I hadn't seen a dentist in about 5 years, as mine retired and I just never took the initiative to find a new one. In March, I noticed major gum recession on my bottom two front teeth 24 and 25 of about 4 mm, as well as recession of about 2 mm on teeth 21, 26, and 28. Was shocked, it felt like it appeared overnight; and while I'm sure that's not the case, I'm not sure how I could've mi...

Urgent (California): Push Governor to sign SB 41 for PBM reform

7h ago

Haven't seen a lot of discussion about this yet so forwarding this message from CPhA regarding SB 41 for fellow Californians, which presents a big opportunity to push PBM reform: California **SB 41** is on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature. This pivotal piece of legislation addresses: * How PBMs can make changes to contracts, * How a patient’s cost-share is calculated, * Prohibits spread pricing, * Outlines new PBM reporting requirements, * **Requires PBMs to avoid conflicts of interest,** * **Includes several prohibitions pertaining pharmacy discrimination and patient steering,** * Removes the PBMs ability to derive income except from a predetermined fee that is specified in...

minimal work experience, offered an interview for smit, very nervous

8h ago

I'm 21, I've been a full-time student up until now and have no "real" work experience (I spent a while doing some commission work and had a job for maybe a week a few years ago before I quit due to physical+mental strain, it's a long story). I applied for pharmacy tech and smit with my local cvs and got rejected as a pharmacy tech, but was offered an interview for smit next week after just a day or two. I know everyone says working with cvs isn't great but they're kinda the only ones that haven't just completely ignored or immediately rejected me. how do I do well in this interview?

My medication came in!

9h ago

I ordered on August 26 and paid the same day. The provider approved the request on August 27 at 11:30 p.m., and the approval was sent to the pharmacy on August 28. I messaged in Spruce with Kiana's name on 09/08/25 3:15 pm EST. She responded on 09/09/25 at 10:37 pm that she had checked on the request with the pharmacy, and the goal was to get the medication out the same week or by Friday. Got a notification on 09/11/25 at 2:22 pm from Kiana that my medication was on the move! It shipped that evening via UPS overnight around 6 pm. I had the medication dropped off at a local CVS, which was a UPS Access Point. When they received the medication, they actually placed it in the refrigerator f...

Driving anxiety for no apparent reason

9h ago

Trigger warning for mentions of car crashes! I know anxiety doesn't really make sense sometimes, but this bothers me. I've been doing my best to control anxiety but something that makes it really difficult is driving. I don't typically think of the worst when I drive. I don't really "think" anxiously unless my nervous system acts up first. And generally, I feel far more anxious when someone else is behind the wheel. I was in a car crash when I was a kid, and was hit-and-runned by a drunk driver a few years ago when I first got my license, so that's probably why I'm so anxious. That being said, I live in a very small town where the drivers are old a...

Bacteriostatic water sourcing questions (Hospira bac water vials)

9h ago

Hi, fellow MJ maintainees. A couple of questions for you about sourcing bac water, as I'm nearly out after about five months of splitting injector pens while on maintenance. I ordered my bac water from bacteriostaticwater.com. Vials are 30 ml, and because the bac water expires within a month of opening the vial, I'm throwing away a lot of bac water. I know Hospira also makes 20 ml vials of their bac water but I can't seem to find a source for them. Do yiu have a source? I've been paying about $13 per vial, and of course I'm saving a lot of money by splitting my pens now, but I really dislike wasting so much of the bac water. I know some people keep it and use it bey...

np thyroid?

9h ago

hi there! wanted to see if anyone else is on NP thyroid and has had a similar experience. i’ve been on it for like 8 years now and didn’t do well on synthroid. there’s obviously been some shortages, dosage issues, recalls, now the new attempted ban on NDT etc. but i have been steadily on 90mg for a while now. i have felt fine and have had no issues. i recently had to switch pharmacies - Walgreens to CVS - and noticed the pills were a little more tan than before and a slightly different shape. figured its the same manufacturer and didn’t think much but i picked up my 2nd month a few weeks ago and have felt noticeably overmedicated? i was traveling, got what i thought was a stomach bug...

Does it get better?

10h ago

So I'm a certified technician coming from a very small independent pharmacy (filled 100-150 scripts a day) to working at walmart. I've been working here for about 2 weeks and I feel so overwhelmed. I went from feeling comfortable with everything at my old pharmacy to feeling useless. Everything feels like its 100 more steps than what I was used to. (I decided to make the switch cause the pay was better + benefits.) Guess I'm just looking for some words of encouragement, I don't wanna feel like a bother to my team. Am I just in my head or what? Side note - I stopped taking anxiety meds b/c i thought i didnt need them anymore but I've started taking them again so that...
