I work in the pharmacy in one of the only 4 pharmacies in the dist​rict open on Christmas. Of course my boss neglected to mention this to me until she'd already scheduled herself for Thanksgiving. If you work Thanksgiving, you're off for Christmas and with only two pharmacists in the store, I got shafted. Not happy about it. I’ve been doing the pharmacy tech modules and I’m shift 7 tomorrow. I’ve only shadowed twice for 10 minutes and that’s it. I recently got certified, and I’m considering applying for the second lead tech position in my store. However pharmacy isn’t ever an option I really wanted. It was kind of thrown at me when I got pregnant. I prefer front store honestly. But I spend 90% of my time in rx. If I do the lead tech position then I lose my keys, my code, and my front store roll and I am strictly pharmacy. Not to mention I make the cap for wages (hired on above the starting wage/promotions/yearly reviews) so I wouldn’t even get a raise if I took the lead tech spot. How are you all properly reporting a temporary pharmacy closure in the system? We’ve got a bad pharmacist shortage in our district, and there are times when stores are closed but the phones don’t immediately switch to the “temporarily closed” message. I’ve been calling the 1-800 Walgreens number and having them contact the store, and then the phone and app updates, but that feels indirect. Is there a correct internal way we’re supposed to be flagging this so patients aren’t just stuck on hold for a closed pharmacy?

I just got my flu shot yesterday. I wasn't going to, because I have lupus with HLA B27 antibody that gives increased immunity to influenza, but I also have emphysema and need to be careful about avoiding respiratory bugs. I had initially been concerned that the h3n2 subclade K variant would be MORE infectious for people who got the flu shot because it wasn't well-matched this year, until I heard of a few people who I know 100 percent were not vaccinated and would never get vaccinated coming down with the flu in the past few weeks. I live out of state and despite begging them to move my parents refuse. Unfortunately neither of them are doing well and have been told to relinquish their licenses and cars. I have been able to get pharmacy, food, basics delivery services but my Mom smokes. (She’s terminal, quitting isn’t an option and futile at this point so please try to refrain judgement and commenting).
