Can someone explain compounded GLP-1 prescribing in med spas

1h ago

Hi everyone, I’m a new WHNP just starting in a med spa setting and I’m trying to better understand the use of compounded medications, specifically GLP-1s, and where this fits from a clinical, ethical, and legal standpoint. Most of my training and the guidelines I’m familiar with focus on FDA approved medications (Wegovy, Zepbound, etc.). However, in this setting, a lot of the prescribing involves compounded versions of semaglutide or tirzepatide through compounding pharmacies, often mixed with additives like B12, B6, or L-carnitine. I’ve been doing a lot of research and I’m having trouble finding clear, evidence based guidance on how this is approached in real world practice. I...

Kaiser - Telemed Confusion

1h ago

OK, so i know Kaiser won't cover. So I went through a Telemed, got the prescription. They send straight to CVS. I go to Lilly and get the code so the first month should be $299. (Full price would be $600) But... CVS says they can't accept the coupon because I am not filling though a Kaiser pharmacy. But Kaiser doesn't fill outside prescriptions. Feels like I am back to square one. So, great internet Hive mind, as a Kaiser customer, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get the drugs??

Can’t find clothes I like in my size

2h ago

Don’t know if I’m able to put this here since it’s not like life advice but if anyone can tell me any good sites where I can find stuff in my size that’d be so awesome. I’m very small. I’m 19 but I’m 5’ and weigh 100 pounds. My feet are 8 1/2 inches long. My waist is maybe 30-33 (I usually need a belt). If I want something formal I usually need to get it tailored or go to the kids section. Sometimes they don’t have what I need in the kids section because it’s for kids and not for me (why the **** aren’t there any vests for kids at the stores I looked in). I’m not sure what my style would be but maybe casual or grunge, I’m not sure I just wear what I like. I wear D...

Jamaican fake giveaway beggar

He identified himself as Robert Cooper with Publishers Clearing House (had an accent). He said I won $2.5 Million and a new car. He said they would meet me at my home to deliver the money and the car. I would need to go to Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, or Dollar General to purchase two $199 Amazon cards to cover the taxes. Said they would cover the other taxes. He and the company attorney were to meet me at my house, where I would give them the two Amazon cards. He informed me not to speak to anyone when I entered the store or tell them that he was on the line. Once I was back in my car, he asked me to scratch the back of the cards to remove the code. It was at this point, I called him out on his...

PharmD vs Nursing (35 y/o, married, trying to make a smart financial + career decision)

5h ago

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who’ve been in either field 🙏 I’m currently deciding between PharmD vs Accelerated Nursing, and I feel pretty stuck. PharmD: \- Tuition: \~$35K/year (4 years) \- I’m currently a lead pharmacy tech (5-minute walk from home) \- I can keep my job while in school \- Strong chance of getting a full-time retail pharmacist job right after graduation (CVS) \- I don’t plan to stay in retail forever, but I’m okay using it as a stepping stone for \~4 years Nursing (Accelerated BSN): \- Tuition: \~$11K total (1 year) \- I would have to quit my job during the program (too intense to work) \- Would need to job hunt...

Frisco’s medication disposal rules are a nightmare for seniors and apartment dwellers

6h ago

We lost my stepmother this morning. After getting my father back to his place, he wanted to do the responsible thing and safely dispose of her medications. He’s a senior who recently sold his home and moved into a Frisco apartment. Here’s the "bureaucratic wall" we hit: Frisco disqualifies residents from dropping off medications if they don’t have a current Frisco driver’s license. Before the "just change it online" comments start...he is 1/2 Comanche and 1/2 Kiowa. He is over 70 and navigating the nightmare of getting a Real ID, which required a certified birth certificate that took over two years to secure. Because of his age, he also has to take a physical dr...

We're building a non-profit around something we noticed at a grocery checkout. Would love your thoughts.

7h ago

Many people make purchases at retail stores partnered with loyalty programs and never collect their points. They simply do not use them. Those points disappear. But what if the points a customer chose not to collect could go to someone in need instead? So we are building Points for People, a non-profit designed to make that simple redirect possible. When a customer does not use their loyalty card, those points could go to a food bank or charity automatically, with one scan, at zero cost to anyone. We are starting in Halifax and working toward a partnership with Scene+ to make this possible across thousands of partner locations nationwide – retail, dining, pharmacy, and fuel. With comp...

Seasonal Allergies are Causing Vestibular Migraines/Concussion Symptoms to Surface Again

7h ago

In February of 2024 I had a severe concussion that, among other things, greatly impacted my balance and my vestibular system. It took around 18 months of therapy, medicine, exercises, etc. to heal to the point where I can walk normally, go into large stores, lift weights and just live my life. I have had seasonal allergies for close to 10 years now and April is normally the month I start to feel them. I use a CVS brand of Flonase daily and also take Montelukast and the Kroger brand of Xyzal every day too starting March 1 of each year. This year I can feel strong fatigue coming from my seasonal allergies and in the last 3 days it has greatly impacted my balance and ability to walk. I went fro...
