Tales from the Compound

3h ago

(Warning: This was from 2009, so bear with me) Okay, so I have now left retail, but I was at a popular pharmacy/retail store for a year. The **** decisions customers made just blew my mind. I have lots of examples, but I’ll start with one of my favorites. In this store, management insisted we use the self-checkouts only, to ring up customers. We would get in trouble if we used the normal register too many times in the day. Which was ******, and ****** off everyone, particularly the old folks that came in. But anywho, not the point here. Most people told me that they could not figure out how to use the self-checkout and asked for help. Which on it’s own, was bizarre to me. Like it pretty ...

Went to CVS as a customer

4h ago

I quit CVS about a decade ago and try my best to avoid it. Now that I have little ones, I go there for prescriptions once in a while. After my experience today, I can understand why some customers are angry all the time. It's interesting to be on both sides of the counter. So my toddler went to the doctor's office and they sent an antibiotic to my local CVS. It's about a 20 minute drive from the doctor's office. I remember working in the pharmacy, how many customers said the doctor sent in the script and we never got it. Well low and behold, I get there and they don't have it. So I go home and make my toddler lunch. A couple minutes later I get the text that the scr...

Bonnie Doon folks, question for ya

5h ago

I see a lot of folks going into this door in the corner of the strip mall between the pharmacy and the liquor store at the southeast corner of Whyte and 83 Street. It’s not on any map app I can find and the adjacent business owners don’t seem to know either, at least when I called them.

Hi everyone, My father has 13+ years of experience working in a pharmacy/medical store (medicine dispensing, stock handling, customer dealing). He doesn’t have a formal degree, but has strong practical knowledge. We’re looking for a pharmacy / medical store job (assistant or experienced staff). if anyone has leads, advice, or knows someone who values experience over degree, please comment or DM. Thanks 🙏

horrible treatment from CVS pharmacy for years, has gotten even worse since 2023

6h ago

longtime CVS customer here. although i honestly feel like i'm barely a blip on their radar with how little most of these pharmacists give a **** about me here's a few of the problems i've had with CVS just in the last 3 months alone: - they claimed i needed a prior authorization for my testosterone, so i got one. i checked with my insurance, and it had gone through. i checked with CVS, they claimed it hadn't. ok. i got *another* one. *then* they accepted it, on the pharmacy end... even though my insurance already accepted it. - i got one of my medications, a restricted med, ritalin, increased in dosage from 10mg to 20mg. when i called to ask why my medication wasn'...

AIO My (F31) husband (M45) is irate with me after I picked up my prescriptions

6h ago

We recently got new insurance and I went to Kroger to get my 3 prescriptions. (One for migraines, one for my hormone patches from my recent hysterectomy, and albuterol inhaler). I switched over from Walgreens and my own insurance to Kroger and covered under his insurance. My prescription cost at Walgreens under my own insurance was HIGH. I paid $50 for my patches, $10 for my migraine pills, and $25 for my albuterol. So I thought nothing of the cost at Kroger, because it was significantly less. For all the I paid $31. I was ecstatic! I got the online notification that the meds were ready for pickup and so I stopped after work tonight to get them. When I looked online it showed three presc...

Med shortage

6h ago

Is anyone else in OWB struggling to get their ADD/ADHD/BED medications filled? Every other month my meds are out of stock and it’s a waiting game. I have a high pressure/ mentally demanding job and anyone with attention deficit knows how difficult it can get when going cold turkey off your medication. I was diagnosed when I was 8 (now 34) so I’ve been on them quite a while with a few breaks here and there. I WAS at a point where I was taking breaks so I could put a few back in case of emergencies (learned to do this during the COVID shortage) but it took about a year to build up and with the frequently inconsistent delayed refills over the last 2 years I don’t even have a “back...

Hospital Magic Mouthwash

6h ago

I work in a large cancer hospital. We go through a lottt of magic mouthwash (even though I think it's the lidocaine that's doing the work and wish we can get rid of it). Nonetheless, we used to use the FIRST compounding kits and get a BUD of 180 days, being able to store a lot in Pyxis. With all the drama with the FIRST kits, we moved to compounding ourselves but for some reason assign really short BUDs (I think 10-14 days), limiting how much we store in Pyxis to avoid expiring it, and ends up causing stock outs and more work work in the end. I know many hospitals have a liquid unit doser but we do not. We use Malox + Benadryl + Lidocaine. All in all 1. Does anyone know of a 50...

New DCC w/Sound Loco slower than my other two! Help!

8h ago

Hello! I posted yesterday about cabooses...so I went to my nearest train store and got a caboose. I happened to also pick up another locomotive (Atlas GP-60 BNSF DCC with sound). I work in N scale. I have had a Kato SD70ACe (6 axle, DCC) and a BNSF N Dash 8-40BW Late Swoosh (4 axle). At one point in the recent past I upgraded the Dash 8-40BW to DCC and it works great. Today I bought an Atlas GP-60 BNSF (also 4 axle, Item #40 004 934) and its max speed is about half of the other two. I've looked a lot online, found manuals, figured out the new loco has a Loksound 5 DCC Direct decoder. I've looked into changing CVs for max speed, acceleration times, etc. I cannot figure out why i...

do these count as exercise?

9h ago

i’ve been having the same issue with my cardiologist over and over again. he is treating me for my POTS and says that exercise is best for alleviating my symptoms. he knows that i suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome (moderate). i’ve told him that i try to move as much as i can within my energy envelope. usually this includes: \- going to the grocery store \- going to the pharmacy \- going to the doctor’s office \- doing laundry \- cleaning \- showering \- gentle stretching or yoga in bed i don’t use a wheelchair or any other mobility aids at the moment. he has told me that these don’t count and that i should be doing gradual aerobic exercise, which is something my body c...
