NYC's public solution to the food desert problem...

This is relevant to r/neoliberal because the government frankly has no business inserting itself into an already competitive market with low margins. The best-case scenario is for the public store to be outcompeted and quickly shuttered. The worse-case scenario is for it to outcompete Aldo/Costco with state subsidies, and we end up with a horribly inefficient operation being propped up by taxpayers.

Saved my buddies hours on inventory

7h ago

Hey guys, I just built this third party inventory tool that I set up for two of my friends, one who runs a bike shop, and another who runs a warehouse. Their feedback has been extremely positive so I wanted to get some other thoughts outside of people I know I was talking to a retail store owner a couple months ago and he talked about the pain of taking an invoice and manually typing SKUs and retail prices and other things and then importing into their POS system. I wondered if the process could be automated and integrated with the POS system they already use. After getting the system running, my buddies were able to try it out and have given some good feedback about things they like and th...

Oil, Sales, Bulk, Wholesale

Hi everyone! I’ve probably been studying this topic for about a year already, and honestly I’m so tired of it that it’s just crazy. It feels like I’m mining obsidian, lol. But at the same time it’s quite interesting to me, since every day I learn a lot of new things. Who can give me a hint? Because I don’t really trust AI, it makes up a lot of stuff. For example, there is oil. Usually oil is produced in the USA or Canada. I am physically located in Chicago. I don’t really want to be a paper trader who can buy there, add 2 cents, and sell here — all of this will take about a month, back-to-back, no guarantees. For me it’s boring and not interesting. I don’t really like s...

Panda Mart to open a Rocklea store

7h ago

I'm not into cheap quality, dollar store Temu ****, but with current cost of living pressures, this should appeal to cheapskates. \- Controversial discount retailer Panda Mart will open its first Qld store at a former Bunnings site after safety violations forced temporary closures of its Melbourne outlets. May 5, 2026. A warehouse-style discount retailer, often described as a real-life Temu, is opening its first Qld store at a former Bunnings site at Rocklea, following earlier openings in Cranbourne and Preston in Melbourne. An opening date hasn't been announced, but staff recruitment has already begun for the Rocklea warehouse, with positions available across floor operations,...

Help! First time homeowners replacing our flooring. Need advice :)

7h ago

Currently trying to decide between Costco's Mohawk LVP and Coretec Manila Oak LVT from a discounted store in our town. Price difference between the two is about $1.45/sqft. This would result in thousands of dollars on our budget. How does Costco's Mohawk LVP compare to actual Coretec? Anyone's experience with one or the other (or both!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is Bezos smart or what?

8h ago

He closed all his Amazon Fresh store fronts and moved to grocery delivery. Looks like Costco can't compete with that. Costco just doesn't carry all the products so you end up buying into everything from Costco except for what you actually wanted. Coming from a long retail background from Smart and Final, he basically did what we could not. He created the Amazon private labels and offered them at low cost. Smart and Final basically only appealed to a small segment versus Amazon appeals to everyone. Bezo's normal MO is to drop a bunch of money on something then see if it floats. If you have a lot of money, that is what you do.

Mother's Day Deals | 05-06-2026 | (DadDeals)

Mother's Day is Sunday. It's Wednesday. Anything you order today either ships Prime, ships 2-day from a real retailer, or you're picking it up in a warehouse, a thoughtful gift that arrives May 12 is just an apology with extra steps. Today's deals: four BIFL-grade gifts that actually arrive by Sunday, picked from a r/BuyItForLife thread I posted asking what Mother's Day gifts had genuinely lasted.   [Read the full edition here](https://daddeals.beehiiv.com/p/mother-s-day)   **MOTHER'S DAY** ~~$460~~ [$289.95 Le Creuset Signature 6.5-Qt Deep Round Dutch Oven](https://daddeals.beehiiv.com/p/mother-s-day) — French-made enameled cast iron from the same Fre...

Bulk (Cheap) pool chemical store in Austin (ideally north, but anywhere works)?

8h ago

Any suggestions as to where to buy bulk (or cheap) pool chemicals or supplies? I need a ton of chlorine, muriatic acid, and baking soda. Home Depot, Walmart, Costco are all decently priced - Leslie's is very expensive, but I wanted to know if there were any local stores/warehouses that sell in bulk. Thanks!

How a Snowflake Stream Works

9h ago

A **Stream** is a *change-tracking object* layered on top of the base table. It doesn't store data. It stores two **offsets** (pointers) into the base table's version history: * A **start offset** (where you last consumed up to) * An **end offset** (the current table version) When you `SELECT * FROM my_stream`, Snowflake computes the **delta** between those two offsets on the fly using Time Travel metadata, and shows you the changed rows with three extra columns: * `METADATA\$ACTION` → `INSERT` or `DELETE` * `METADATA\$ISUPDATE` → `TRUE` if part of an UPDATE * `METADATA\$ROW_ID` → stable row identity So the picture is more like: Stage (S3/Azure/G...
