This is relevant to r/neoliberal because the government frankly has no business inserting itself into an already competitive market with low margins. The best-case scenario is for the public store to be outcompeted and quickly shuttered. The worse-case scenario is for it to outcompete Aldo/Costco with state subsidies, and we end up with a horribly inefficient operation being propped up by taxpayers.

Hi everyone! I’ve probably been studying this topic for about a year already, and honestly I’m so tired of it that it’s just crazy. It feels like I’m mining obsidian, lol. He closed all his Amazon Fresh store fronts and moved to grocery delivery. Looks like Costco can't compete with that. Costco just doesn't carry all the products so you end up buying into everything from Costco except for what you actually wanted. Coming from a long retail background from Smart and Final, he basically did what we could not. He created the Amazon private labels and offered them at low cost. Smart and Final basically only appealed to a small segment versus Amazon appeals to everyone. Bezo's normal MO is to drop a bunch of money on something then see if it floats. If you have a lot of money, that is what you do.
