Make Sustainable Living the Path of Least Resistance15m agoWe often assume that if people care enough about climate change, biodiversity, or pollution, they will naturally change their behavior. But decades of behavioral science show that motivation alone rarely sustains change. What does work is redesigning your environment so the sustainable action becomes the easiest, default, friction-free choice - and the unsustainable option requires extra effort. Instead of relying on willpower, you build systems that quietly guide you in the direction you already believe is right. Buy used, sustainable products whenever possible. 1) Redesign Your Kitchen for Zero Waste Move sustainability from intention to layout. Place a rotating, easy-to-use (recycled pl... Yennoda oru life story: Khichdi15m agoThis is based on an incident that happened long time ago in my life. Hope you can related.. and find it interesting.... I am presenting this in a story format. Story writing is my hobby About me: Tamil guy, grew up mostly in Delhi. Working in the US. Age - I will let you calculate based on the story :-) \--------------------------- It was one of those Sundays where the calendar just felt like a typo. Not lazy, but boring. Boring with a capital B! It was the kind of boring that sits on your chest and makes you ponder the philosophies of life. I was staring at the ceiling. The popcorn ceiling, that’s what they call it in America. It seemed to be the style in almost every home I saw here... Shopping on Nykaa? [In Germany, the term "Kevinismus" is used to describe the trend of giving children trendy, foreign-sounding first names instead of traditional German ones. The word comes from, well, the name Kevin, which suddenly became extremely popular in the country in the early 1990s. Much of that popularity is often traced to the huge success of the 1990 comedy Home Alone, whose main character, as we all know, was named Kevin McCallister. While the German title for the film translates to Kevin – Alone at Home.](https://theweek.com/articles/534802/15-unique-illnesses-only-come-down-german) 2. New(?) Innbeauty project birthday gift45m agoLooks like the Jo Malone London one isn’t available anymore and they just put out this Innbeauty project one, thoughts? I was planning to get the Jo Malone one this month 🥲 [Thai Horror Stories] If someone can't light a match, then they're a tiger.59m ago**In Thailand, we believe in many things, mainly ghosts, demons, and deities *(how many deities, you may ask? ALL OF THEM)*.** Of course, not everyone believes in those kinds of things, but we also have always been taught not to disrespect or disturb the things we do not believe, just to be safe. I had always fascinated and terrified by many scary stories since childhood, mostly from a cheap comic, thai people love horror you see, other might love superhero or fantasy but we do love horror, a lot of them, every day there will be a new horror movie, new horror novel, new comic and new stories to hear about. Horror is everywhere in this country, you can walk into a store and ask them if t... Why do I have to sign in once a day on the Netflix app.1h agoI don’t get it. I have an Apple TV 4K and at least once a day, it signs me out. Every day. Ahhhh! Does anyone know why? Reflections on things to buy before japan trip1h agoHi Everyone, just came back from a trip to Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka + Nara for 16 days and I thought I would share some wins and fails from our trip. Mostly wins because I scrubbed youtube and this thread which was so helpful so this is me giving back. We traveled as a family of four with a 13 and 10 year old. 1) Japan washers are tiny and there are no dryers. We bought clothes for 4-5 days but in retrospect because the washers are tiny, we ended up washing clothes every morning and should have just brought two changes of clothes. Washers there are also ridiculously fast with a typical wash cycles around 30 minutes. We hang them up before we leave and come back home to dry cloth... That Darn Elizabeth from Australia Influenced Me...1h ago...I'm finally gonna visit the other side of town where the only Ulta in my market stocks the Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint. If you're on TikTok, you know exactly who I'm talking about. A lovely Australian makeup/beauty influencer who became a devotee of Chanel beauty and started influencing a lot of us to try this one out. I obviously want to shade match, but also get an idea if this product "works" on my skin. It seems everyone either feels it gives them an unmatched "my skin, but better" dewy finish or they get a streaky mess. I'm hoping I'm in the former category. My wallet is probably hoping for the latter! Any tips / must-do's to... See China with Wanderpaws—Quanzhou Travel Guide: A Slow Journey Through Belief, Art, and Everyday Life1h agoIf you only pass through Quanzhou in a hurry, you may end up feeling disappointed. But if you are willing to slow down, to quiet yourself, and stay for ten days or even half a month, the city will gradually hold you in place. Quanzhou is the first city in China to be recognized as an East Asian Cultural Capital. Some people call it the “City of Gods,” and that is no exaggeration. Temples are everywhere, and incense smoke is woven directly into everyday life. Belief here is not something placed on a pedestal, but something people live with. During my days in Quanzhou, it felt as if I were visiting an old friend—while also paying quiet visits to many deities along the way. Not to make w... The Ink That Refuses to Fade: A Love Letter to the Analog1h agoIn the cold, blue light of our screens, we are building a world that never sleeps and never dies. Generative AI can synthesize the entire history of human longing into a single paragraph. Social media gives us a thousand "likes" but rarely a single touch. Everything is stored, yet nothing is truly held. Lately, I find myself retreating. I am looking for the dust. # The Philosophy of the Fragile In my studies, I am often reminded that the universe is a slow march toward disintegration. Philosophy teaches us that everything eventually becomes dust. But there is a secret beauty in that decay—a beauty that a digital file can never understand. A digital message is a ghost. It exis... They tell you how much time has elapsed and how much time it will elapse. Time, unlike other things, can't be stored. You have to do something or it's called a waste of time. So stopwatches are excellent because they track the usage of time or the waste of it. For if we don't track, we may not know what have we done with it. Stopwatches make you awesome. If you are wondering, here's how to use a stopwatch. Open the clock app on your device and switch to the stopwatch section. Just hit play. You'll now enjoy the second most exciting experience of doing work. The first, of course, would be the finishing a job well done. > Nothing w... what is love?2h agoHey guys… I’m a 29-year-old guy, living alone in a one-bedroom apartment, and the ceiling is closing in on me—seriously, the walls are getting closer. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past, and I still make them today; or rather, I’ve done a lot of things wrong in my life :) My whole life, I didn’t care where the journey was taking me, what I wanted to do for a living, or whether I wanted to live here or there—I never had any ideas about my future; it just wasn’t important to me. “I’m young and have time”—I used thoughts like that to put everything off. Retirement, building plans, saving money? Excuse me? Those were all foreign concepts to me. ... Where should my ads point? Landing page, App Store, or web app? Genuinely torn on this.2h agoI'm running ads for FlowBuilder, a free yoga sequencing app, and I can't figure out the right answer on destination URL and would love input from people who have actually tested this. Here are the three options I'm weighing: The App Store listing. Direct path to the download. No extra step, but I lose the ability to control the experience and I'm sending people somewhere I don't own. The landing page at h.flowbuilder.yoga. Gives me full control over the pitch, shows off screenshots and features properly, and I can retarget visitors. But it adds a step before the actual install. The web app at flowbuilder.yoga. The app works in the browser so someone clicking an a... Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
