Most “discounts” aren’t actually discounts and it’s getting ridiculous

3h ago

“Sale prices” don’t feel like real discounts anymore. With dynamic pricing and constant changes, it’s hard to tell what’s actually a deal vs what’s just a normal price with a label on it. It’s gotten frustrating enough that I started using a price comparison app for everyday stuff, just to see what’s actually cheapest per unit across different stores instead of trusting the “was £X, now £Y” tags. I tested a few price comparison apps like Google Shopping, Pricerunner, Idealo and Silicon app ended up being the most useful. The others felt a bit inconsistent, but this one was easiest for quickly checking if “sale” prices were actually any better. Even then, it f...

Got an early birthday present!!

3h ago

Ive always been a bit 'anti-ereader' because i prefer physical media over digital...but lately ive been reading some fatass books that were just too heavy to haul around lol. That plus the ability to...sail the seas and get books that are not available at my local libraries convinced me to try it out! Love it so far, I'm quite pleased :)

Saying goodbye to my lovely friend

3h ago

I was gifted this watch for valentines day (not by a lover) and it was used. i found it at this jewelry shop while my brother was getting his rolex serviced and i absolutely fell in love. they weren’t a AD store but they sold authenticated used timepieces. It came with no box no papers and it was $8,200 dollars right in price range and just perfect i absolutely loved it. i went to new york about 2 months ago for business when i noticed that the watch just completely stopped working i freaked out and immediately when i got back home i took it to where i bought it and they said some screws had fallen out but it was no biggie they fixed it. recently ive noticed its been running really weirdly...

Where do you guys find the best deals online these days?

3h ago

Been trying to tighten up my spending lately and figured I'd ask the experts. I know about the obvious stuff like Raise, CardCash, GiftCardGranny, but I'm curious what people actually use day to day. Looking for tips on discounted gift cards (Amazon, grocery stores, restaurants, basically anywhere I'd already be spending), subscription services (streaming, software, anything where the loyal customer tax is real), and everyday shopping and groceries (cashback apps, browser extensions, stacking strategies that actually work in 2026). Bonus points if it's something underrated that doesn't get mentioned in every frugal tip. Also curious if any of the cashback apps are st...

Seeking advice about O2 London in June

3h ago

Hello, I will be going to see Twice in June, second day. This is many of my firsts - first concert, first kpop concert and first time in O2 London. I’ve read that there are merch shops that go out of stock a few hours before the concert, and that fans also hand out freebies. Being completely new to this, I’d like to know how early I should arrive to not miss out on any of this? If I arrive very early, can I also go out of the venue and then queue up before the concert? Lastly, are the merch stores outside the venue or inside it? And are they relatively easy to find? Apologies if these questions are silly. I’m just very excited and want to plan most things ahead of time, especially ...

Fitness equipment recommendations

3h ago

Okay y'all, I need help spending some money.🤣 The other day I purchased a waterproof deck box to store the equipment I already have in. When I put everything in it and it was still nearly empty I jokingly said to my husband that I needed to buy more equipment to fill it up with. He said "yes you do." So now I'm shopping! I currently have a 14" balance disk, 4 paw pods, 2 fitbones, and a set of cavaletti (the ones with the cones). Looking to stay under $100 per piece for now and small enough to fit in an 85 gallon deck box for storage (or safe to be left out in the elements in Texas). We mostly do conformation, but dabble in rally and agility and looking to mayb...

Terrible Store Organization

3h ago

I know stores have some discretion in product placement, but toiletries with the frozen foods makes no sense! I generally don’t have any issues with the rest of the Doseum location and my son can generally fill out his shopping list, but this particular aisle is a hodgepodge.

Columbia Place

3h ago

Columbia Place in Dentsville SC Visited today, there look to be two churches still operating within the mall, and walking through on a Sunday morning you can hear the preaching throughout the entirety of the mall. There are still a few clothing and jewelry stores open, along with a collectibles shop. Macys is the last anchor store left in the mall. Real fascinating place to wander through, and is totally worth the visit!

Long babble on my 2026 Rose Planting Season

Some interesting-to-me purchases mad...

Local GC closing

3h ago

West Springfield Mass. just saw the sign on the window of closing shop. I know people dislike them but it’s a huge hit in a lesser populated area like this. Without them myself or my son likely wouldn’t be playing right now. It was originally a Daddy’s Junky Music, then GC moved in. My guess is the lease was up and rent raised significantly. It definitely wasn’t a high volume. Curious tho, I know anything decent will just move inventory, but when this happens is there typically odds and ends a store may be using worth picking up cheap? Like guitar stools or other display things?

Built a retro-style live dashboard for our ecommerce platform tonight

3h ago

Been experimenting with different ways to visualize activity across our platform and ended up building this retro gaming inspired dashboard tonight 😅 Honestly started as a fun side project and somehow became one of my favorite things we’ve built recently. Now I’m debating whether this should stay as an internal dashboard or become an actual feature merchants can access. Part of me thinks it’s completely unnecessary. The other part of me wants every analytics page to look like an old arcade machine.

How would y’all style these out of curiosity?

What do we think about Oxford Industries ($OXM)?

3h ago

My girl told me about this deal at Tommy Bahama (owned by Oxford) where if you sign up for emails you get a free $50 gift card to use on any purchase of $100 or more. If you’re a fan of Tommy you know it doesn’t take much to spend over $100. So we walk in and to look for some ish and they have a bar!? The Tommy Bahama Marlin bar. Fantastic margarita. Better than the Mexican restaurant we had for lunch. And my god, it was strong. To my surprise we’re allowed to take the drinks to the store while we shop. If I didn’t have that drink I don’t know that I would’ve bought those chinos if I didn’t have the liquid courage but I like the business model. It got me to shop. $160 pants? On...

cardboard cutouts… you’ll know it starts simple and suddenly you’ve got loads of questions 😅

So instead of a basic FAQ, here’s a real-world, no-nonsense breakdown of 30 things people actually wonder before buying one — written the way people actually think about it 👇 🤔 The “Wait… how does this work?” questions 1. Proper ones are licensed — especially from Star Cutouts working with big studios. 3. Can I get real celebrities? Yes — from Elvis Presley to John Cena and more. 4. What about film or TV characters? General Update May 17 2026

3h ago

First off, update to 1.5.14 and go to the shop and try codes: LAUNCH-2026 EVERY-REWARD Hyphens are accepted but not necessary. You’ll get some stamina, but I’ve added a button at the bottom of daily spin for users with no ads to exchange their stamina for diamonds. If you didn’t see my last update, version 1.6 is taking a backseat to my new football game, because I’m learning to build in Unity so I can port games to both mobile stores going forward. I learned Pro Football Sim is already the name of a long-time web soccer game, so my next game will be named American Football Sim and I created the sub already r/AmericanFootballSim so it wouldn’t get taken. I’m making good...

Discounted meat

3h ago

Is there a particular day that is better for discounted meat. Do they only do it certain days? And I’m wondering on mix and match, do you have to buy 2? I’ve never shopped in store until today, I’ve always done curbside or delivery.

LinkedIn and job searching advice

4h ago

I am really wanting to get a job at a specific retail company (Aldi) due to the higher pay, the benefits, and future transferability of the job. I am currently working retail in another sector (auto parts). I'm currently living in an area where I only know the people I've met in the last two years of being here as we moved from out of state to get here. So local connections/names are not in my favor. Would it be weird, or wrong or bad, to search up (basic Google stuff, nothing not easily found on a quick, beginner level Google search) for local area/store managers and add them on LinkedIn.. ? I'm not planning to specifically reach out via private messages to them, but just rea...
