My previous prescriptions (pictured and dated) are from Specsavers. I was sick of my vision never feeling right even after re-testing so I went to Vision Express instead and they have reduced my prescription significantly (last photo dated January 2026). I’m yet to pick up my new glasses and I have had several eye health checks which show no problems. I’m 30 years old and my prescriptions have always gotten worse every eye test but I’m really struggling to understand why Specsavers increased my prescription so much and Vision Express have reduced it? TIA for any help!

I cannot just buy glasses online. I am very, very fussy when it comes to look and fit. I get my eyes tested at Specsavers and keep my prescription. I go into Specsavers and/or Vision Express to try on glasses then whatever ones I am happy with, I jot down the model and order them second hand on eBay. I just saved myself £80, plus another £30 because I get them reglazed using an online optician as well. Today, I went in and one of them saw me writing it down and asked me what was I doing. I said I will order them online and they said I can just do it there and then 🫣

People who wear glasses in Cebu, is Owndays or Vision Express better in frame quality and service? I've heard good reviews about owndays with japanese frames and thin anti fog lenses with lifetime benefits, but vision express offers similar lifetime benefits as well (free cleaning, adjusments etc etc.,) but with b1t1 offers and branded frames which I assume would be sturdy also? Would like to hear some four-eyes opinions!

Ended up getting my glasses bent a bit in the derby stramash on Saturday. Vision Express pair but don't have all the lifetime warranty etc. I suspect it's beyond just needing screws tightened and will need the frame to be heatened, reshaped etc (or maybe a new arm) Does anybody know of a service offering this in Dundee? Or likely to end up needing to send off?

I've got an eye appointment today at vision express, and im on the fence about telling them my meds. I've previously always gone specsavers, so telling them im on bc and testosterone (and more recently oral minoxidil) wasnt as big an issue, as id gone there years before transitioning and also didnt pass the greatest. However I consistently pass now, and I don't wanna have to out myself to a new opticians with my meds. I just bought it for 7 usd on vision express sales, this brand seems like new, there is no info about where is this made but the built quality is great more better than foster grants, it seems like a rayban wayfarer but i am not sure if this is a glass lens because it doesn't feel cold and no thin sound when I thump it with my finger nail
